I can officially say that this place instilled the fear of the dentist, that I will probably spend a lifetime trying to fix. Not happy at all.

The dentist on duty yesterday decided to be a jerk to a little boy only 5 years old with anxiety i would recommend this place to my worst enemy. The guy should be fired

Dr.Mills is my favorite. Personally I am afraid dentists, but the direct approach with his calm demeanor instantly soothes my concerns. He is funny, smart, good at what he does. He took the time to provide the best care for my daughter, and we both left with smiles. What a gift he is to the industry. My daughter has been grinding her teeth and he opted for something I never thought would even be an option, and I love that.

When my son became old enough to begin seeing the dentist, I decided to try Just For Kids instead of bringing him to my dentist, because my son is very shy and thought a pediatric dentist would be the most gentle and kid-friendly route. I was very wrong. At the appointment, I was asked to basically restrain my 3 year old (and I was 9 months pregnant). I expressed my apprehensions about this, and was told that it happens all of the time and that it would not cause my child to fear the dentist. So while kicking and screaming, I restrained him for the dentist. I was tearful upon driving home, thinking “Is this really the best they could do?!” I decided I would cancel his follow-up cleaning and told the receptionist that I had planned to bring him elsewhere because I was not happy with our first appointment. Fast forward 3 months and my child fell and hurt his tooth, causing his tooth to turn gray. The receptionist told me that his file was marked “do not setup future appointments” and that he needed x-rays but that I would have to take him elsewhere. I had not had the chance to get him into another dentist because it had only been 3 months. This has been a VERY disappointing process with Just For Kids. Do you care more about your bottom line than you do about children’s health? I should’ve never taken him to you. Nothing about this process has been gentle, kind, or child-friendly.

This was my 2 year olds second visit with them. They’re so good with him and make him feel safe.

The front desk/receptionists are less than pleasant! They provide minimal help and are so cold/rude to speak with. My daughter fractured her front tooth and I called to see if she could get in on an emergent basis as they advised they were not taking new patients. She said if I got a referral from a walk in clinic, her pediatrician or another dentist she had seen before they would see her. I left work and brought her to a walk in clinic. Got the referral & called back. She called once received, but then proceeded to say they couldn’t get me in for another 3 weeks :0! I wouldn’t have gone though all that trouble had she told me it would be that long as my daughters tooth was barely hanging on. Disappointing that being a pediatric dentists office their front office staff is below acceptable.

Great experience with Dr. Lawson - my kid suffered a broken front tooth on a weekend and she was on call. Dr. Lawson returned my call very quickly and got us in to be seen even though they have a very busy schedule. She was very patient and thorough, and explained everything really well. Dr. Lawson did a wonderful job re-attaching the broken tooth, it looked perfect when she was done.

I wish i could give them a 0 for customer service and compassion I had an appt. for my son but that morning I had a stroke and another the very next day so was obviously unable too call them to cancel since I was in an ambulance on my way to the hospital. Now they will not take my son an i understand if they would like documentation of those strokes id gladley give but I will not write a letter begging for forgiveness as they asked me to do. Horrible. Other dentists had found this outrageous as well.

Dr.Patel was really nice.

We have been seeing Dr. Mills and the staff at Just for Kids for over 10 years now and when my son ages out, I'm going to be so sad! My son is on the autism spectrum and has sensory and other issues. Dr. Mills has always been terrific with him. My son had his braces done at Just for Kids with Dr. Mills also. Even throughout 2 years of monthly visits everything went extremely well. They do such a good job there that I once heard my son say to a friend, "I love my dentist." That says it all.

First time visit today for my 3 year old. He was super nervous and is always super shy. They made him feel super comfortable and spoke with him on his level. They explained everything to me very detailed and well. Definitely going back and bringing my other kids.

Love Joslyn the hygentist. However the ladies who do check out are the biggest snobs!!!!

It was OK. Where else you gonna go in Maine? Staff was cold and not very talkative. Dentist was nice but seemed quite triggered when she asked if her assistant had given me aftercare instructions for my son and I told her no. The assistant then acted like I was lying and the two of them got into a weird sort of stare down contest until I said "maybe I just didn't hear her".... awkward...

My 2 yr old loves coming here! Staff is always great and attentive and really try to make it fun. This was our 3rd visit and we were finally able to get her to sit in the big chair and use the suction tube after using "shiny glitter polish" on her teeth! She even gets a coin or toy treat at the end which really helps keep her focused. It's been a great experience!

Years ago when my daugther was 4 years old took her to have one tooh pull off, she was scared and crying the dentist came so angry of her yield to her almost hit her telling her to be quite because she was scaring other children. He was so angry of her that took her and pull her tooh. This dentist should not be a pediatric dentis.I never went back.not even a dog get treated like that.my daugther is now 26 years old.I never said nothing but I came across looking for a dentist and I read the reviews to find out the my daugther wasn't the only one treated that way. It took long time for her not to be afraid of dentist.this is the reason I am writing this review.not child should be treated like that.is been so long but I can see this dentist didn't change at all.Don't bring your child there if you don't wanted to be traumatized.

We have been bringing our 4 kids to Dr. Mills for 10-11 years. I have always been very impressed with him and the whole staff. I feel they know how to handle those awkward situations when a child is having an “off day,” as some other reviewers have put it. I have never experienced any negative actions from Dr. Mills or any of his staff. Some of my kids have come in nervous about a procedure, and some have even been crying at the start. But because I let the team do their job and don’t get super involved, I have watched my kids relax and leave the office happy that they were able to finish. The Just For Kids staff have a practical, reasonable approach that I appreciate as a parent.

I had taken my daughter here when she was young, up till she aged out, shes now 30.. Now im taking her 3 kids, my grandkids here... I think that says it all.

Bethany Keaten

I went here sense I was a toddler. I'm 23 now it was a quick decision to take my severely autistic daughter there who is three. The staff was very understanding and helpful. Same dentist I saw when i was young will definitely be making my 7 month old a appoitment too. It can be a long wait for an appointment date but I was put on the call out list. I was given three days notice. Worked out perfect

Poor customer service..dentist was nice and courteous but people at the reception are rude and blunt. Dont dare to ask too many questions or they will look at you like you are such a dummy. One star is too much.

Crystal McAtee

A great experience! The staff are all very friendly, the dentist is amazing, and the atmosphere is welcoming. My daughter says her favorite part is “the token” received at the end of her visit. This token can be used in the gum-ball like toy machine in exchange for a surprise toy. The kids love it! I highly recommend Just for Kids and appreciate all their hard work, expertise, and help when needed. Thank you for all that you do!

We went 2 times without incident. The last time we went my child was having a rough morning, we've all been there. The dentist pulled him backwards out of my lap and did the varnish while holding my child down. I've never been so angry. As I'm checking out the receptionist is asking me to schedule the next appt while my child is sobbing still. Completely unprofessional. Scarred my child for all future eye doctors, dentists and even his regular doctor. No one should ever put their hands on someone else child. Completely unprofessional.

Jessica

The staff is always so friendly and knowledgeable have been going for years my kids love it

Carolyn Lebeis

Superb, child-centered care! My 3 year old daughter loves going to the dentist!

The hygienist and Dr were cute with the kids. I have 3 kids and they did a nice job with them. But their hours are awful. Most kids are at school and they ONLY have hours during school hours a few days a week. I was also informed that if I make an appointment on a day the kids have off, that the office might be closed as well. I might switch Dentist just because of this. Oh well.

The hygenist and dentist were super friendly and got us in and out very quickly I would give 4 or 5 stars but I found the lack of toys or a play area for the kids quite disappointing for a pediatric dentistry practice. There was ONE toy and a couple of books. I was pretty shocked about that. Other than that we had a good experience!

I am a single mom of a 2 year old and 5 year old with low functioning autism. Needless to say the dentist can be very overwhelming, but every person I have talked to that works for this office is vey nice polite, understanding and patient. I have been to there office twice now and the hygienist are just amazing, and the OR staff they have at the surgical center did everything they could to make us comfortable.

Brought my son there the first time was great experience. My son was coopritive and Dr. Mills did a great job with him. Second time we went in I was completely beside myself with the way Dr. Mills handles children that are not being competitive. My son was having an off day and was scared I tried everything to reassure him it was ok. Dr. Mills tried prying open my son's mouth, my son obviously got even more upset screamed and Dr. Mills acted like a child threw the stuff down he had in his hand and said I will not be screamed at and stormed out of the room. This experience he was completely unprofessional mad my son even more upset by his childish behavior. Told my son you can make this easy or hard. I woild not recommend bringing any child with special needs or one that is afraid of the dentist. He also looked at me and told me that I was allowing my son to act this was and I was going to let him think that it's ok to act this way! I am a mother and I don't want to see my child scared or hurting and man handed by a stranger!!! It is my job to make sure he is feeling safe and secure and to have someone tell me I'm wrong by asking them to stop because my son is upset and getting even more upset by the dentist behavior. Not sure I will be going back there even if it is for a sedation apt.

I have 4 kids and they have been amazing with all of them. Very patient and kind each time we go in, have accomodated when we've had to be late. This is by far the best dental office I've worked with.

Alexander Konczal

the front desk staff are pretty annoying and the hours can be inconvenient, but all of the actual dentistry staff are amazing, especially dr. mills. he'll joke along with the kid in a very friendly way, and he's very direct and honest about what you need to do and what his process will be like. none of my siblings ever were afraid of going to the dentist because of dr. mills - my brother and I even considered careers in dentistry because of him!

Jennifer Stiegler-Balfour

Office visits for cleaning teeth have been fine. They do a nice job with kids and our son likes that he gets a prize from the coin machine at the end. The experience is soured by both the billing department and the front desk staff. They've messed up our billing (billing the insurance for the wrong age of the child, which is then rejected by the insurance) and they are incredibly arrogant when you try to re-schedule an appointment telling you the earliest time you can be re-scheduled is 6 months down the road because they're just so busy and important! I understand that appointments can book out quickly but they really need to work on their delivery. Overall, I would say they provide good dental care but terrible customer service.
