I want to give a HUGE thank you for taking me in within minutes of my tooth breaking. Amazing staff who truly care about patients. Instant pain relief.

I have not gone to the Community Dental in Portland, but it doesn't surprise me to see the overwhelming amount of one stars. I went to the Lewiston clinic. They were generally nice. The last time I was there, about 3 years ago, they said that I had 2 cavities that they would need to fill. I went in for my appointment on the date that was set. They called me in from the waiting room. I was led to a chair, sat comfortably on it, lying back, waiting for the dentist. I was told by the hygenist that they would be working on 3 cavities, not 2. I figured, why did they tell me I had 2 cavities when it appears now I have 3. It seemed odd to me that they would change their story like that. Sounded too arbitrary. So, I got up and left, unwilling to be treated by them if they couldn't get their story straight as to whether I had 2 cavities or 3 cavities. You would think that they would have been aware of the 3 cavities a week or so before. Why wait till I am sitting in the chair at the time of my appointment, thinking I have 2 cavities to be filled, to tell me that I have in fact 3 cavities to be filled. Frankly, I questioned their ethics and motives at that point.

I liked nothing about Community Dental. Their staff is rude.

Every time I call community Community dental I always get the answering machine they never return their phone calls! Whoever the patient advocate is should be fired whoever is working on the front desk should be fired you don't answer your phone call you don't return phone calls! I would never recommend this place to anybody ever again! I wish I could put a photo up on the site since my extractions over the last month I've had little pieces of bone or teeth coming out.

Thus far I'm very unimpressed with their customer service. I faxed over my paperwork (the fax confirmation came back as successful) and waited a few weeks to hear back. 3 1/2 weeks after I faxed the paperwork, I got a dental abscess which required an ER visit and antibiotics. I called after to inquire what the status of my application was. They stated that they never received the paperwork, and that "Sometimes our fax runs out of paper and we don't get the applications". So I guess anything received when the paper runs out (which they should be checking anyways) they don't receive faxes? I don't know. Every fax machine I've worked with prints the faxes when paper is put in the machine. Anyways, I faxed it again, with writing on the cover page saying in big letter "ORIGINALLY FAXED ON 3/11/11. PLEASE CALL *** *** ****" WHEN RECEIVED." No one called. I called again today and they did receive it, and I still have to wait 3 weeks to a month to be seen. I plan on complaining to someone higher up about this, because their mess up is costing me a lot of money, as I will have to go on another round on antibiotics to avoid the infected tooth abscessing into my face again. If you're going to be a facility that services low-income people (read as: whose lives suck enough as it is), please don't make it more difficult to obtain these services.

Community Dental on Brighton Avenue in Portland Maine saved my life! I went in for a cleaning and they immediately sent me to an endodontist. The dentist at the clinic saw I had a dead tooth, informed me of its seriousness and referred me to a specialist. Two days later the endodontist was repairing my dead tooth. Prior to this I had been to 15 doctors and they were all puzzled wondering why my health had been rapidly deteriorating. It took a dentist to isolate the problem. I had the dead tooth fixed by the endodontist and then Community Dental filled 6 cavities, did a deep cleaning and one routine cleaning. I am 100% impressed with their affordable service and would highly recommend their clinic to others who need dental work done! My health is returning and I literally owe my life to their excellent care!

Receptionist was unprofessional (eating snack while talking to us) and she was rude to my client. Not friendly at all. Very disappointed. Please treat them the same way you want to be treated.

I will never step foot in this dentist again nor will I ever recommend it to anyone. Very unfriendly, rude people at the front desk. I went to another business and they treated me like a human being unlike this disgusting place.

Avoid this clinic at all costs. When I become a new patient here they misplaced my new patient paperwork twice. The paperwork contains all my sensitive medical information. On the fourth attempt to receive an appointment, about a month later the woman at the desk had to manually input my new patients documents because they still had yet to be processed. Two months later I got my cleaning. After I was told I would need to come back in for some further dental work and appointments were made 2 months apart. Today was supposed to be the date of that appointment, but their office just called and told me that their office forgot to send out the proper information to my insurance when the appointment was made. Now I have to wait another month to reschedule. I'm looking for alternate dentists in the area because I genuinely don't think that this office has there stuff together to give care to anyone.

Truly the worst front desk every time I call or come in. There is maybe one front desk worker who is friendly. They need to either be educated on customer service or be fired. They act as though your inconveniencing them to check in to your appointment. They don't acknowledge your standing at the desk, I get your doing something else but a quick, I'll be with you in a minute is the proper way, instead of looking over at me with a blank stair and then looking away. Never a smile from them, never a have a nice day.

Davy Prach

Rude staff.

Ryan Nichols

They said I couldn't make an appointment because I missed ONE visit. What a joke!

Marta Seastead Gaines

It's almost impossible to get through on the phone. You must show up earlier than others in the morning to get an appointment. When the work is done, there is no outside of the box thinking as with other's. It's take an impression while the affected area is swollen and the replacement doesn't fit after the swelling is gone. The prices are not discounted at all. Check the internet and you'll find that prices quoted are average as for mainstream dental. Sliding fee is not accurate at all. While the dental teams are nice people, the front desk staff ARE a different matter.

I do not recommend them at all. I was not satisfied with my dental services at all and they have very poor customer service. For my first appointment, I waited almost 20 minutes past my appointment time before they took me in, and the same thing happened the second time as well. Also, during my second visit, I had scheduled my appointment to be had with a specific doctor and when I get in the room it was a completely different doctor. They fixed it and my doctor came in, but we had lost another 15 minutes on top of being taken in 20 minutes late. Not to mention that when I went to pay my bill my care credit was denied, which made no sense, because I called them and they said there was no problem on their end and that we had funds on my card. So when I tried calling community dental back it went straight to voicemail. We've tried calling them about 20 times in the last 2 months and we've also left voicemails and no one has gotten back to us. My whole experience with them has not been a pleasant one at all. I strongly advise looking for any dental office other than this one.

I've been going to Community Dental Portland for 10+ years and I can honeslty say I cannot think of one bad experience I've ever had there and I've had various procedures done from a root canal, root scaling and planning to my regular cleanings, Im grateful that I can get these procedures done due to their sliding fee scale making it affordable for me.

Rude an unhelpful

Horrible customer service and they never pick up there phone for current patients to schedule appointments.

Sage R. Landry

This place should show more concern and be moderately more professional considering the communities they serve in Portland. It's disheartening to hear as someone who works in social work in the city to hear peoples accounts of this place. This place could be a wonderful resource for this community but instead clients are confronted with discourteous staff, unprofessional practices and absurd waiting times. Sad that this place is one of the few if only place that accepts MaineCare. They should have far better practices than this.

Been bringing my son here for years. Always a pleasant experience for the both of us. My little man actually enjoys going to the dentist because they are so friendly. Thank you.

Negative. I found the dental hygienist rude, as well as the dentist. He looked in my mouth for 30 seconds and didn't allow me time for questions, I'm having a cavity filled soon and then I'm done.

Permy Supreme

They never answer the phone !!!! When you finally get an answer, an extremely rude secretary will answer and offer no useful information. DONT GO HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE IN excruciating PAIN due to the fact that they will not prescribe pain management meds. They think everyone is a drug seeking crackhead so they treat you like a junkie. I’m very disappointed and warn y’all to seriously not go unless you really have NO insurance and it’s an emergency. You can get humane care with Maine care at the dentist on brighten ave !!!

Chris Verrill

I have been calling for 3 months straight they never answer the phone.then I go in get my paperwork and am told to call next week and then 3 more weeks of calling no answer finally went into the building for the 1 pm clinic at 1:05 pm cause I had to wait to reach the counter and was told I would not be served today and then I asked about scheduling appointment for a extraction due to excessive pain she started giving me attitude and wouldn't let me schedule one in all honesty I wish this would allow me to put negative 10 stars they are the worst secritorial staff I have had the discomfort of dealing with. Additional, When there again for the clinic was 45 minutes early and was told they weren't doing the clinic due to being understaffed and then I tried again to schedule a appointment but they said I would have to wait till April I now change my review to negative 50 stars and put a avoid at all costs stamp on this place

Violated my medical privacy because she didn't like the way I ended a phone call. Abused portland police emergency to apparently lmk that was no way to end a phone call.rude treat you with this complete disrespect and allows a secretary to give out dangerous medical advice without any type of training whatsoever.

Patient for over five years until July 2018 To begin let's look at their positive aspect. For students and family on a budget their price is ok and they offer sliding scale. Negatives. 1.) Staff tend to be on the rude side. Customer service is not their strength and judgemental comments are often heard while waiting to be seen. 2.) Quantity of patients over quality of care is what they focus on. Because of this appointments can take 6 to 8 weeks. This is a problem as it allows mino issues become bigger problems. 3.) Advocating for clients or oneself results in being treated rudely. 4.) Emergencies are not given the time or response as needed. One should not have to find another emergency walk in to discover a problem because their dentist is not willing to explore the matter. 5.) Left last week to become a patient elsewhere and am so happy I did. Overall I would not recommend this place.

Sarah Hyde

Such a professional place, great staff and you leave there knowing how to continue taking care of your child teeth, you also feel important 100% worth the drive since I drive from Farmington!

Joe babino

When I had problems with my teeth due to an accident the dentist who didn't even know me treated me like an addict which was very up setting since I've never done drugs I feel they shouldn't judge you if they don't truly know you

Alejandra Guardado

Poor treatment to their patients! Very unprofessional!

Anite Stratton

I am beyond impressed with Portland community Dental, I must honestly admit I was worried about going here after some of the reviews. But I am so glad I took my son, I never felt so welcome in a place with my son, (who has severe autism), from the minute I walked in the staff was very friendly , then as we entered the office the hygienist Leeann made us feel welcome and relaxed. she treated my son just like any other normal patient . talking directly to him. She was so patience and kind to him. Dr Walawender was just as kind and made both Shawn and I feel welcome, and he listened to my concerns for my sons care , finally a dentist who was just as concerned about my special needs sons dental needs as I am. THANK YOU ALL for treating us so kind. I know we both look forward to returning for his next appointment.
