My 4yo daughter was crying and upset to be at the dentist office. Instead of using calming methods, which i'd expect from a children's dentist, he (Dr.Marc) took her face with his hand and told her if she kept crying, he'd take back the toy she had been given by the hygienists. I fought to restrain myself. Dr.Marc is a total douche canoe. Dr.Marc lacks integrity to be working as a dentist, let alone with the children of our community.

I missed one appointment for my son when I had just gotten back from the military and because my mother in law died and was having her wake the same day his appointment was. Due to my "no show" we are not allowed back. Furthermore he has an abscess in his top two teeth and they still will do nothing for my child.

My kids have been coming here since they have been able to go to the dentist. The staff has always been pleasant. My boys enjoy Dr. Mark! Pleased with the staff!

I was very skeptical of trying out Children's Dentistry based on having read previous reviews, however, after my first experience with a limited exam for my son, I chose to completely transfer all dental care for both of my children to this office. There are many aspects of the visit I could review favorably here, but the one that is most important to me is how my children were treated collectively by each member of the staff with whom we interacted. The office philosophy is to build rapport with the kids, while the parents/caregivers fade into the background and handle the "boring adult stuff." My children were treated as participants in their care as opposed to just having to listen while they were talked about. My only concern about continuing care is the policy on missed appointments; that being said, I understand why it has been implemented.

Dr.Mark has been our dentist and orthodontist for several years. He has done braces for 4 of our children and we are very pleased! He is easy to talk to and has a great rapport with the kids. We have no dental insurance and he is always willing to work out payments and avoid unnecessary x-rays. We highly recommend Children's Dentistry!

Awesome! Friendly and sweet staff. Rooms are decorated to put kids at ease. Always a positive experience for our five kids.

I would not recommend anyone bringing there child here. The staff are all young females with a better than everyone else aire about them. Then the doctors have no patience with the kids they are working on. I don't understand, if you don't like having to deal with crying kids then why did you open a CHILDRENS DENTISTRY! He, dr.Marc, has no patience with the kids. He expects them to sit up and do as he asks with no problems. My son is autistic and is shy, Dr.Marc didn't care. He got frustrated that my son kept sliding down the chair, my son started crying when he was working on his mouth and he would just stop, annoyed, and told him that he had 5yr olds that didn't cry doing this, and he needed to act his age (my son was 7). I tried to explain that he was just nervous, the dr didn't seem to care. He got up and said he would be back when he was "finished crying" to finish his work. Now that I have read all the other posts I see it's not just me that had issues with him. Maybe a class action lawsuit should be considered. Dr.Marc told me if I stuck with him, my son would have perfect teeth by 18. Well, that was until he decided he didn't accept mainecare anymore! Now, after he put spacers (that don't come out) in his mouth, he wants to charge me to take them out! That is outrageous! I hope any potential parents see all these posts before they decide too bring there child too him.

Would be ZERO. My daughters had a scheduled appointment a month in advanced. They said they would both have nitrious. I left. A few weeks later i started getting multiple emails confirming their appointments, i even got a call, in which NONE said anything about them not eating. We arrived at the appointment, she started explaining what would happen, i then stopped her and asked, "so shes not getting the nitrious?" She looks and says "oh yes it looks like she was set to". I proceeded to ask if they had to or not, she said "no" and i asked multiple times if they could still do it if she started getting antsy, she assured me -YES- multiple times. The dentist came in and started, my daughter started to cry and he looked at me and says "if your not going to help you need to take a seat", about 30 seconds later i asked if they could do the nitrious since she was crying and "choaking" on her spit and trying to sit up, "NO we cant do that once we have started the proceedure" ((mind you after she told me 3 times they could)). Long story short, she puked, from crying and he looked at me and said "she was not supposed to eat 4hrs in advance". When i asked why noone ever told me he sat there with a dirty look on his face and said nothing. I pointed each one of them out, as a concerned mother would, you told me this and that it could happen, you never told me this, your front office never told me, they called and still didnt tell me, but most of all, you DIDNT even confirm that she did not eat before starting. So had she HAD the nitrious, WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED TO MY DAUGHTER?? See my point! In the midst of all this i asked about my other daughters apointment too which they then told me she was not set for nitrous like i was told. Well a few hours later they call me to tell me that my family is being dismissed from their office. I asked "why? They didnt inform me, they didnt tell me about not eating, so my child puked, they didnt even know she was supposed to have the nitrious, and we are the ones being dismissed from the office, we were going to anyway, but where did i go wrong here" i asked for a call back and she hung up. Apparently they dont like to confront their mistakes! I will NEVER recommend anyone here. And after talking to a few people, im finding out they have also had issues. Im just thankful that my daughter is okay and she didnt get the nitrious, with haven eaten.

I love Children's Dentistry!!! When we first started there, there were a few "rules" they had I didn't care for. Such as the one time we were 4 minutes late, because of traffic, there were no cars in the parking lot and they would not take us, even though we drive an hour each way to go there, but policies are policies! I was not happy about it, I wish they had bent the rules but their policies are there for a reason!!! You can guaranty we were never late again. I have also taken my children to several places and looking into other places I realized how wonderful they are in comparison. The staff could be slightly friendlier but I understand that they are extremely busy. I always want to go in with my child and he'd prefer to have me there, but with the laughing gas, I could not. He did great, and everything was fine. I realized I was being over cautious. And the staff did allow me to peek in, in between. I did have to bring another adult or get a sitter when I brought both the boys, another policy, but again for a good reason! One of their newer doctors, male, does not fit the mold there, I thought he was a little rough, but Dr. Marc and his wife have always been amazing. The hygienists would let my son stand for his cleanings when he was younger because of his attention span. My other son was very antsy and the dentist was very stern and took control of the situation, which I thought was fabulous. I want my boys to know that if you don't brush your teeth, that is where you'll have to go to fix the problem and its not all rainbows and unicorns. And prizes are to reward good behavior! I had to call on a weekend once, because of pain in my child's tooth and Dr. Marc answered the phone even though he was away on a vacation. I know they are a business but considering all things I could not be happier with them. More importantly my children love it there!

My daughter always had severe dental anxiety and has been coming here since ahe was 5. She is now 14 and does very well every time. They have always worked with her and been very patient with her. My 2 year old will be coming soon.

State of Maine Rule Chapter 9 in section 02-313 for Board of Dental Practice, Unprofessional conduct under 32 M.R.S.A. 1077(2)(F) - C. The obtaining of any fee by fraud or misrepresentation. In June 2016 my son was evaluated for a dental procedure. In July, x-rays taken 2 months prior were forwarded and verified received by the Mark Lucier's office. In July, the Dental office submitted an estimate to the Harrimans of $1,880 with $1,218.50 being the out of pocket patient responsibility. The procedure was scheduled for October 21, 2016. In September prior to the procedure the Harriman's met with the Dentist again to ensure that the pre-auths and estimate was good. The Dentist confirmed and took half payment. After the procedure, the Harrimans received a bill for $4,470 with a patient responsibility of $3,434.60 (more than double the original estimate). The Harrimans asked why there was such a discrepancy - The dentist confirmed that the x-rays sent were never consulted in preparing the estimate. In addition, the dentist charged for another x-ray and performed a significant portion of work that could have been deferred (cleaning) or was not needed (Space Maintainers, already had a previous dental consult on this and deemed recommended but not needed). The Harrimans tried to negotiate a smaller bill in which the dental office refused and threatened collection. The Harrimans felt forced to accept a no-interest term for the full amount. Then, a month after this bill, the insurance called and explained that anesthesia would not be covered and would be another $2,980.80 that was completely the patient responsibility. The Harrimans had previously asked specifically about anesthesia and was assured multiple times that proper pre-approvals had been gotten. Futher, the anethesia practice advised the Harrimans specifically that the pre-approval could only be done by the dentist, leaving the Harrimans at the mercy of the dental practice. When the Harrimans asked about this additional charge, the practice admitted that they never called Anesthesia directly, ignoring the Harrimans specific request to ensure proper pre-approvals. This practice has shown a level of incompetence that should be studied. The Harrimans feel, at a minimum, that Mark Lucier obtained his fee by fraud and misrepresentation when he refused to correctly provide an estimate using the dental exam and x-rays available to him. Had he utilized the available information, he would have provided a different and more accurate estimate.

Entire staff - doctors included - have an air of incompetence. Told us our insurance wouldn't cover my son's cleaning - which it did - then had us come back to preform a procedure that we were then told he didn't need, and they didn't do - still charged me for the laughing gas they used for the non-procedure. This place has gone downhill rather quickly - used to love this place three years ago - and I encourage any parent to look anywhere but here... I know we will.

Heather Smith

This dental practice is a disgrace to the practice of dentistry. They inserted an appliance in my sons mouth and than decided they would no longer accept any insurance and only be open for a few hours each week. They just wanted the money for the dental procedure and obviously did not care about his follow up care. They never mentioned a word about either of the changes. DO NOT SEEK DENTAL CARE HERE.

Tandra Taylor

Great place to bring your child/children. We have had it all done from cleanings, braces and now dealing with an emergent issue. Dr.Mark and staff are amazing, caring and compassionate. Best of all my daughter feels comfortable and loves going to the office.

Alli Douglass

I have been taking my two girls here since the day they have opened.. We have always had an amazing experience with all of the staff. I highly recommend them for any children of all ages!!!

Clarisa Thayer

They were very accommodating by booking my kids with the same appointment time. Very friendly and encouraging to my 2yr old and 4yr old. Made it fun and leaving my kids with wanting to go home and brush! Also, great at talking to me about their teeth and how they are growing. Highly recommend!

Miranda Wakefield

I was happy enough with the hygienists but very very mixed reviews about the doctor's. My daugter has special needs which is why I felt strongly about a pediatric dentist, thinking they would be skilled with special needs kids. After switching to Just For Kids in Scarborough I realize just how much they did that is not in fact "the way it has to be" because they don't do it the same at other pediatric practices (such as not allowing parents back for procedures, not allowing any meds for kids who struggle with procedures (like vallium) etc.)

Mike Bartlett

My daughters have been seen here many times, putting my girls at ease, great doctor, and awesome staff! Keep up the great work!

Wanda Ring

We have been coming here for many years and my son has a great rapport with the doctors and staff. He had a very difficult time sitting still when he was young and the doctors were kind and understanding, despite the challenge of working in the mouth of a crying child. He is now a teenager and enjoys the banter with Dr Marc, who has been a strong advocate for my son's dental needs. I recommend them highly!
