I have to say, I have always had a great experience with Dr. Majors and his staff, so it makes me sad that I am leaving this review.
I went for a teeth cleaning in August (which is free under my insurance) and as soon as I sat down, I was told to open my mouth for x-rays. I wasn't asked if I wanted/needed them, so I just assumed it was standard operating procedure. Now I am being billed $55.00 for x-rays because my insurance doesn't cover annual x-rays. I will admit I didn't know how the x-rays were covered, but I assumed the staff checked my insurance and knew what they were doing.
I called and talked to the billing department and asked if we could forget it this one time and make a note in my file as to how my insurance handled x-rays so it wouldn't happen in the future. I thought this would be fair since I only scheduled a teeth cleaning which should be covered 100% and because I was scheduled to come back in October for a crown, which was going to cost me $323.00 dollars out of pocket (total cost $1130.00).
The girl I talked to in the billing department said she would ask, and I asked that she please let me know before my appointment in October. I never heard from her, I received the bill in the mail and when I called today she informed me they would not write off the x-rays.
So I have canceled my crown work and I will be looking for a new dentist. The girl in the billing department didn't seem to care.
My closing thoughts are, I scheduled a cleaning, not a cleaning AND x-rays, if they were not included with what I scheduled they should not have done them, especially without telling me that. Also, it makes a great deal of sense to lose out on $1130.00 worth of work and all future work over $55.00.
Again the staff that do the work have always been great in person, but this whole situation has left me with a sour taste in my mouth.
