I have been seeing Dr Gilbaugh since I was a child, and now I have my daughter being taken care of by him as well. I love that she can experience such wonderful care like I do by Dr Gilbaugh and his staff. Amy Cassady, our hygienist is so good with Chloe and treats her like she was one of her own. We love Amy!

What a great place to go for all your dental needs! They were able to provide back-to-back appointments for our daughters in which one is just a toddler. The hygienist, Marcia and dentist Chad Hanneman were fantastic with both, especially the youngest since she really isn't fond of any doctor/nurse. They made it fun for her while checking her teeth. Would recommend the Family Dental Center to anyone!

I have been with Family Dental for many years now. Despite my "truancy" in my regular dental care, they have been very patient, understanding, professional and they, definitely, do a great job. My dental hygienist rocks! She is patient, gentle and kind with me. Because of these amazing people, I have my dental health on track and I am truly grateful. I love the music that plays while working on my teeth. Best place to be in town!

Absolutely phenomenal! It truly is FAMILY dental. I took my 1m and 14m old with me. They were great with my 14m old. She enjoyed it and was waving to all the staff. When I had my appt, a dental hygienist fed my 1m old. Another doctor came in and read books to my 14m old and even wiped her boogers. I cannot say enough good things about this practice!

I have had horrible experiences at different dentist offices (one dentist couldn't believe that I didn't find my own teeth to be "disgusting" so he actually handed me a mirror and told me to look at them. And my teeth are healthy and mostly straight since I had braces as a kid). Eventually I just stopped going because I hated it so much. When I moved to Coralville, I took a chance on The Family Dental Center, and I'm so glad I did. Everyone here is simply wonderful. They are kind, considerate, and very good at what they do. They know how to help make anxious patients relax, and they are very patient. Dr. Gugliano is upbeat and always has funny stories to tell. He is also very talented (I got a filling done in under 30 minutes). I enjoyed coming here so much that at one point I was coming every 3 months for a cleaning (until my insurance stopped paying for that). Talk about a turn-around. To go from dreading the dentist so much that I just didn't even get a cleaning for years, to coming in for a cleaning every 3 months...that means this place is truly special.

Highly recommend this place and Dr. Skvor! They are LIFE SAVERS!!!!! Chipped my tooth Sunday night, Monday they had it fixed. Allie at the front desk figured out my insurance for me making it that much easier. I saw Dr. Skvor and his wonderful assistant Holly. They were friendly, professional, and above all else, really good at what they do. At no time was I uncomfortable or felt any pain. My filling looks better than my actual teeth. 11/10 experience, will be returning for any future dental needs

I had my 2 toddlers in for their 1st appointment. We Waited atleast 30 min past our appointment time even though there was no one in front of us. Dentist was in less then 5 min and seemed annoyed that is was kids. Will not refer them to anyone and will not be back.

First, I should make it known my prior dentist would go smoke a cigarette while the hygienist polished my teeth, so when he came back he stunk. The family dental center is the best! I was referred here by a coworker and absolutely love it here. The staff is super friendly! The rooms are always clean! I hate going to the dentist but this place makes it feel like you are at home. I referred my mother here as she needed a quick appointment before having surgery to remove lung cancer. It wasn't long after her surgery when flowers showed up at my parents house from the family dental center staff. They go the extra mile and it really shows. I have and will continue to highly recommend this office to everyone!

We have been going to The Family Dental Center for many years. The whole experience is very welcoming and friendly - from the office staff, hygienists and doctors. They were great with my boys when they were little and are wonderful to work with in orthodontics now too! Marcia and Chrissa are both fantastic hygienists and Dr. Chad and Dr. Dawn (as the boys call them) are great. They take time to answer any questions you and your kids have. I highly recommend!

Just got home from the dentist office for a filling replacement and have to admit I am very anxious about dental appointments. It was a breeze!! Procedure was done before I even knew it!! Dr. Gugliano and the staff were so kind, asking how I was doing, friendly, and efficient! We drive 90 miles for this dental clinic and wouldn't think of going anywhere else!! It is the best!!

Our dental care at The Family Dental Center was very good. We appreciated the services of the dental hygienists and the dentist we saw. That being said, we had a very poor experience with billing. We originally had an insurance policy which was in network with this center, but our insurance changed recently. When I presented my new card to the woman behind the counter, she never said that our new insurance was out of network. We were not told this after the appointments we had that morning, and we were not told this when my husband created a follow up appointment for a week later. Only after he came home from that appointment, having paid a large bill, did I find out that they were out of network because I called to ask why the amount he paid was so much. I quickly looked up my out of network coverage information and was relieved to see that my insurance still pays 100% of preventative services, so our former appointments for the whole family should've been covered. Then I received a huge bill in the mail. Even though our insurance "paid at 100%", this office "balanced billed" us so we had to pay any remaining amounts up to their retail prices. Had they been in network, we would've paid $58 for 3 cleanings and a filling. Since they are not in network and practice balance billing, we have to pay a surprise $483. I spoke with someone at the office about this, upset that they never mentioned we were out of network, and I was told that it's my responsibility to know that. (I agree - I'm usually on top of these things, but I'm human.) The woman I spoke to said they only accept 2 types of insurance. I asked if it is their policy NOT to tell people when they are out of network, and she said that they cannot be responsible for 1700 patients' insurance coverage. They make no effort to alert a patient if their insurance coverage is out of network. I suggested that the least they could do is say "we are not in network with your insurance." If they only accept 2 insurances, and when they employ someone to handle insurance billing, this should be obvious for them. She said she would take that into advisement. Meanwhile, we were forced to pay the full amount.

These guys are the best! We have been patients here since arriving in Iowa City 31 years ago! They are very professional, up-to-date, clean, friendly, handle insurance paperwork, schedule appointments, give reminders before the appointments (we all need that!), and handle every age group. We've had our children there since they were old enough to get dental care, had fillings, crowns, root canals etc and it is always a pleasant experience! Seriously- I have never experienced any discomfort. My family has actually ENJOYED going to dental appointments. You don't hear that very often! They really are top notch! We highly recommend the team at Family Dental Center!!!

I brought my 3 year and 3 month old into the dental center for my cleaning and my oldest first appointment. I was supremely impressed with my hygienist, Lindsay, as she managed to simultaneously rocked my baby to sleep with her foot, cleaned my teeth, and engaged my 3 year old in the process of teeth cleaning. She did a great job gearing her up for the visit with the dentist and allowed my daughter to feel and experience all the tools at her own pace.
