Very thorough and friendly. I find that the comments regarding themy only being concerned about being paid extremely offensive! The majority of those who are complaining I would be willing to bet are on Title 19! Of course they are concerned with being paid, they are already taking a significant amount less because of that reason. There are so few dentists accepting Medicaid these days be thankful they do! Noone makes you take your children there, if you don't like the fact that an oral surgeon is only available once a month, please by all means pay for private insurance like some of us do and take them there.

After taking my name, dob, address insurance company, and insurance number, they put me on hold to verify my insurance. When they came back they told me that they don't accept my insurance. This made me wonder why they had to have the number in the first place. I asked for written confirmation that my information was not stored in their system and that my insurance would not be billed. Jennifer Carre, the practice manager refused to comply with the request. I'll be contacting the insurance company to put them on notice that any claim from ocean dental is fraudulent and should be reported to the authorities. Zero stars isn't an option so I had to give them one star.

First time taking my kids to ocean dental. Can't say how my kids were treated other than asking the kids after they were seen. My boys had no complaints they are 14 and 15 years old. My daughter is 10 and she only complained that she could feel the shot when they were preparing to pull a tooth. She said she screamed and started crying because she could feel the needle going in. I myself the only thing I don't like is not being able to go back with my 10 year old daughter. On the other hand they informed me of everything they done and was going to do and made sure that was ok first. Staff was professional and friendly. Only real complaint I have is some other parents bringing their children in and letting them run circles in waiting room screaming being loud and allowing their child to take the 3D eye glasses recycling container out in the entry way and play with it and do nothing about it. And allow their children to stand up in the chair and scream and stomp. That was my concern about my first experience with ocean dental and it had nothing to do with the staff. Not Every patient is going to have the same exsperience. I will take my children back.

I went to get my four wisdom teeth removed. They made me feel very comfortable and explained everything they were going to do. I had John Cheek doing my removal! He was amazing I had my teeth out within ten minutes. Also they gave me a general anesthetic for the surgery and after the surgery they gave me oxygen so I would not feel loopy. Also to numb your mouth they do Novocain, but before the Novocain they put a cream in the areas to numb where you get the shots.They also sent me home with instructions for my recovery along with a bag of things I would need and prescriptions for pain meds that also help swelling . I would highly recommend Ocean Dental.

The worst experience ever! The staff worked on my foster children only to come back for a follow up stating the couldn’t share anything with me being there was nothing stating I was the guardian. I informed them over the phone and when checking in that I was the foster parent. The ordeal of taking the children back without a parent doesn’t sit well either, especially without a heads up or explanation!!! Seems they were just out for payments through Medicaid because they made sure it was current when scheduling even.

I drive from almost 3 hours away to take my children to Ocean. The staff is very courteous! They keep you, as a parent, very well informed the entire time. If your child may need any laughing gas or anything they call you to the back and make sure its ok first. They are really great with the kids as well. My 4 year old is normally terrified of anything to do with Doctors or people touching her and wont even show me her mouth, but they are able to clean her teeth and everything with no guff! She had to have dental surgery and everyone treated us so well. They even called my home phone around 7 that night to make sure she was ok and not having any issues. I highly recommend Ocean Dental to anyone looking for great Dentists. The one and only thing I don't like is that they refuse to see all my children at once. They will only see 3 people from the same family in one day so that makes it a little difficult for us being 3 hours away. I really wish we could just do one trip. :(

After repeatedly cancelling my child's dental appointment for additional work 4-5 months done the line they try to set us up again. i originally figured one last shot wouldn't hurt but boy was i wrong. one week before the appointment i get a rude phone call from the "manager" stated that since i have not turned in paperwork that i never received they were cancelling my daughters appointment yet again until further notice. these people do not care about their patients the only thing they care about is getting paid. needless to say i will never take my kids back to this place and if you care about your children you would be wise to steer very clear from this place.

Dr. Cheek what HORRIBLE!!!! He didnt wait till i was numb to start the shots to extract my wisdom teeth. The front desk had horrible service and they are very very unorganized!! Parents or partners are not allowed in the back until your ready to leave. I definitely will not be recommending Ocean Dental to anyone.

I had an emergency situation and they told me to come in right away and they would fit me in. They had my chart ready and I was taken back within 5 minutes of doing paperwork. I was treated with respect and everything went very smoothly. I have bad anxiety over going to the dentist and they really helped to ease the situation for me. Once upon a time this place was decent, customer service has gone down terribly, not to mention the manager onsite, you can't expect much when she lacks professionalism herself. I scheduled an appointment 3 weeks out and 30 minutes prior to going I get a call and was advised my insurance MetLife was not accepted there.I had mentioned my new insurance at time of appointment 3 weeks earlier. Now Kids had stayed home from school for this appointment. The manager not wanting to take any responsibility did what most teenagers do or corporate brats do and started to blame others. She would talk over me and did not care about the situation. I am glad I got to know their real side on handling a simple matter, imagine something bigger, I would never trust my children to this organization.

It was a bit embarrassing being the only adult alone there, with a lot of families and stuff designed for kids, but the staff, including the doctor who removed my teeth, were all very kind and helpful. I will never darken the door of Ocean Dental ever again. I had a 4:30 appointment for my daughter. We walked in the door 3 minutes late because we witnessed an accident and had to stop and call 911. They refused to see her because she was 3 minutes late. Absolutely ridiculous. I do not understand what the problem was 3 minutes not even 5 minutes. We have always had good service there but today was absolutely horrible and I will never ever darken their door again!

They said wisdom teeth had to come out because it was impacted. When they did the surgery they pushed a piece of tooth or jaw into the cheek area. For months there was infection and every other month we were going to the surgeon to get it fixed. They pushed for more antibiotics every time stating it was an infection. A year and half later we are still dealing with it. IT is painful and you can feel the jagged mass in there. Now it's trying to come out through his cheek and there is a big purple bulge on the side of his face. Senior pictures have had to be delayed 3 times. Ocean Dental finally admitted there is something there and referred us to a plastic surgeon. Now insurance is fighting that and says it's plastic surgery instead of a dental procedure. Turns out that Ocean Dental wasn't filling all of our doctor visits to our insurance company. Surgeon is only there once a month. I wish I had called and kept putting my kids on the waiting list for a real dental office. Ocean Dental put my child's health at risk.

TERRIBLE!!!!!!! The lady behind the glass window/counter was very rude, made no eye contact and had a very crappy attitude. The tv in the dirty waiting room was so loud you could not hear them call your name when int was time to go back and they had to yell just to barely be able to hear them. the person who called me back to "discuss" my sons treatment plan spoke 50 miles an hour not concerned with explaining the process or what they were going to do to my son at all, not concerned with ensuring that i understood what they would be doing to my son, and for a 1:00 appointment with no treatment other than having 4 sealants applied we were there for 3.5 hours! This was the most unpleasant experience I have ever had at a dental office! Very unprofessional staff, very dirty place, and patients are treated as if they work on an assembly line just moving them through like factory style, just at a VERY slow pace!

They wont see my sons anymore unless I let them put crowns on there baby teeth, seems like every other time we go, they want to put crowns in. There's no tooth decay and they are baby teeth, why not just a filling if the tooth actually gets decay? Staff seems good tho.

You can’t be with your kids you have to stand outside the room on a one way mirror window and my daughter was crying and I wasn’t allowed to go to her she is 6 years old my oldest got a filling and the dentist dropped the drill in my sons mouth and broke the inside of the the tooth they were suppose to be fixing my son is in a lot of pain and can’t close his mouth and can’t chew his food so I have to find a dentist to fix what they broke

I came in with an abscessed tooth. The receptionist was very friendly and eager to help (I didn't catch her name). She got me an appointment for the next day! It's incredible because I had already been turned down by 5 dentists. The next day Elisa checked me and couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. A dental assistant ( can't remember her name) , took my x-ray was a sweetheart; very professional. Tammy and my dentist were wonderful; they so inspired trust and calmed me down. The staff here are great! I was late leaving work to get my son & get him to his appointment, I called them to say I may be 20 mins late but they were kind and accommodating. We didn't have to wait more than 5 mins & the dental assistant was so sweet to my son! She took the time to explain to him what she was going to do before she did it. He's only 4 so that was good for him. The dentist was kind & quick, but also took the time to answer all my questions. Then after the exam, the dental assistant took us to pick out a child-size t-shirt, coloring materials, stickers, & toothbrush. They were so nice. At first I dreaded driving all the way to the eastside, but for this great of service I gladly will!! Thanks Ocean Dental ladies!!

Worst customer experience ever. I have 2 foster kids and the only reason I took them here was because they have been coming to this office the entire time. I call ahead and explain that I am a foster parent and what documentation do I need. They stated on the phone all I need is the kids Medicaid cards and some sort of documentation showing I can sign for medical docs. I had a court order from the county court house saying I can sign for anything medically the kids needed. On the phone ocean dental stated on the phone the court order would work just fine. few weeks later at the appointment they tell me the court order isn’t good enough and that the need a copy of my foster parent agreement( which on the phone they didn’t say I needed). So I had to reschedule 2 weeks later. 2nd visit they do a checkup and explain all the work the kids needed done which I had to schedule a month out. 3rd visit the take both kids back for over an hour. Come to find out they didn’t do anything. Then they come and get me and tell me the little girl I have has lice. (Which I knew for a fact she didn’t because I put preventive treatments in the kids shampoo). So I tell the hygienist to show me and she said 2 other people examined her and she has lice. I leave and vowed never to return there. I go home and thoroughly check the child’s head, NO LICE. Then I take her to the doctors the next day, again no lice just slight dandruff. so over two months and three appointments Ocean dental jerk me around and with false allegations my child had lice. This office is very unprofessional and stay clear of this place at all costs.

My daughter just had to have a cap put on her teeth and the pediatric dentist was a young man that was just *wonderful*. She was very scared of the nosepiece for some weird reason, but he was able to talk her through it and get her to relax, and from t here it was easy as pie. Husband and I were very nervous because she was so scared of the dentist, but this gentleman was amazing. He walked her through the shots and called it the 'mosquito that was hiding from the rain'. I'd very strongly recommend this dentist to any parent, his bedside manner is like amazing. A+

My daughter had oral surgery recently an the end overall was excellent it was getting up to that day I brought her in before thanksgiving was put on their surgery list told me should be within a month so I wait n wait Christmas new years comes n goes I take into fact the holidays so finally I call there 12th day after the new year an she tells me that day it will be the 28th okay take her to her doctor to get a pre surgery check up they set that appointment up I take her to that but come Monday 4 days before surgery still don't know nothing no time or anything so I call again get 3 different times but in the end get right time night before when the hospital calls I've had 4 c sections an they were way better planned n set up so that needs work but as for day of surgery an everything from there was EXCELLENT

So before coming to Ocean Dental I was very skeptical as they have some reviews that aren't the best, however my son needed in for an emergency and they got him in the very next morning. The front was very nice. While sitting in the waiting room there was a mom in there that was VERY rude yelling at the front desk because they told her that her daughter's Medicaid was coming back not active. That's on the parent not the facility. It was RIDICULOUS how she was treating them, but they were not rude back. My son was then called back and all the ladies were very very nice and friendly. They all gave him attention and treated him great. We then went to the back because he had a baby tooth that needed pulled and the dentist was great! I believe it was Hans Leonard, DDS. He was amazing the whole time. Joking with my son and made him very comfortable. It was a great great experience and I am glad we went here.

I went in for a crown, because of a chipped tooth that was too bad to build up. Everyone was very friendly, and reassuring, as I am not a big fan of the dentist! Let's just say, I've never had a dentist on my Christmas card list! Very professional! Dr. Dali, (sic?) was amazing, as were the numerous assistants that I saw on the two visits! She was very thorough and meticulous, to get it just right! I've never had dental work, whether it was a build up or filling, that felt this good! Usually when you leave, the work that was done feels rough or weird, but this feels smooth and natural! I'm amazed!!!! Thank you Ocean Dental!! I will refer people to your practice!!!!

So, we’ve gone here since our first 2 kids started seeing the dentist. We’ve been a fan since the beginning, since they’re specifically for children! Everyone there is really friendly, and this visit, they finally have a dental hygienist that got my 11 yr old and my 3 yr old to get their X-rays without gagging and throwing up! This visit was the best one yet. And they make all 4 appointments at the same time with no issues since we drive an hour to get here. All in all, this place is great!!!! And they take adults now!

My 11 year old son reported after his appointment that an employee said to another employee right in front of him “This kid is huge. What does he do, watch movies and eat candy every day?” Obviously This was extremely rude, inappropriate, unprofessional behavior. They get away with this because other adults and parents aren’t allowed in the treatment area. They have so many employees I have no idea which one it was. Our family is never going back.

Very unprofessional. The whole time they were checking my teeth the dentist was making inappropriate side comments with her assistant. Since I am 17 and I couldn’t have my family go with me due to work, I had my boyfriend take me. The assistant asked if that was my boyfriend outside and I answered yes and she gave me a disgusted look. It seemed they were all about judging me. (Commenting on my tattoo/ piercings) When it came to cleaning my teeth that was when the belittling started I would of said something if I wouldn’t of had tools in my mouth. I was so uncomfortable with the vibes they were giving off it felt like even if I did say something or showed them I was upset that it would of just been worse. This saddens me but I really dislike the open floor they have. I watched through the window as the lady was cleaning my sons teeth, she hardly said a word to him, instead she was taking across him and having a conversation with another worker.

For someone who doesn't particularly care for dentistry, Ocean Dental was kind polite and did the best they could to keep me calm. I would truly recommend them for children and those who have title 19 or medicaid.

They did really good with both my kids. And one daughter had to have a couple teeth pulled right away cause they were broken. And they were able to have that done that day. And then my oldest had to have all 4 wisdom teeth pulled and they did it fast and good. And she didn't have problems. Their oral surgeon is really good.

Didn't know they accepted adult patients! Needed emergency care, made me an immediate appointment. Upon arrival, very organized and great customer service! Explained how my insurance worked, made sure I understood my coverage. Immediately diagnosed issues, worked up a treatment plan, explained it well, and also immediately fixed me up! Staff kind, attentive, and funny. Great place!! Found my new dentist for myself and my family!

Brought 4 kids in and was pleasantly surprised at the speed that they were able to complete Dental work. Wish they had sedation services- we are now headed back to Des Moines for our 3rd trip. P. S. I sure would like to see the receptionist smile or at least make an effort to “sound” friendly.

Great place to take your kids to see the dentist. My daughters dentist is super nice and makes he feel so comfortable to be there. Ladies up front can be little nicer and not talk about someone when they are standing right there. Also little note... Lose your attitude

Staff was great took really good care of me. The oral surgeon was great had me in and out in no time I was very impressed I had to have teeth removed and he came in numbed everything that needed it and went to work. Was the best experience in a dentist office I have ever had.

it was ok, it is very busy so i would plan for hours before you have to go to work, my child didn't cry so they must have done something right. not sure if i like the whole open room idea but it may help the children to see other children doing it, so it was ok.

Only thing is My prescription flew out the window after I got my wisdom teeth out and they wouldn't let me come in and get a new one. So I guess they decided I was suppose to just deal with the pain after getting all four wisdom teeth tooling out. I ended up going to the hospital for the pain and they took care of me there. But other then that, I felt they did a good job!!!

My daughter and I were treated very poorly at my grandchildrens dental appointment. They refused to let her be with her children while getting their teeth cleaned. They talked to her like she had no clue what she was doing. Very rude and disrespectful. Will not be going back.

I would rate it a five star but on more than one occasion at the last minute once while I was sitting in the waiting room I had to reschedule due to them not having enough time or another reason they had given to see my kids and I always schedule multiple children at a time and to pull them out of school get them there and then have to reschedule for it to possibly happen again but that is the only major problem we experience there
