From the second you walk through the door of Des Moines Children’s Dentistry you are greeted by an excellent and professional staff. From the waiting room to the dental exam rooms, the entire office is completely geared towards entertaining your child. Going to the dentist is actually fun for my children at Des Moines Children’s Dentistry. My children have been seen by both Dr. Revell and Dr. Warrington and each of these doctors is patient and without question truly cares about your child’s dental health. They also take the time to get to know you and your children and listen to any concerns you may have. The dental hygienists are equally caring, patient and professional. If you are looking for a pediatric dentist, look no further, Des Moines Children’s Dentistry is the best in town!

Finally! A dental practice that was able to work well with children who have special needs. The setup here is such that they are able to accommodate kids with unique needs. For that I am grateful. At first the beautiful office made me happy and my kids comfortable but found an abrasive dentist that works in a den of gossiping staff looking for their next problem patient drama. My child was treated horribly here because my son wasn't an easy patient. Instead of working slowly with him she pushed for surgery with anesthesia, ridiculous! I think our chart was noted because I asked a lot of questions and my son wasn't opening his mouth wide enough on the first visit. My son is very smart and kind but takes awhile to get comfortable with new people and the idea of drilling. Run if you are special needs!

Des Moines Children's Dentistry is a wonderful for children! My child had to get a cavity filled and they were amazing with him. They talked him through step by step, made it a "fun" experience for him! Dr. Revell is amazing and so is her staff! So kind, caring, loving and genuinely there for the kids!

Be careful here with these two rude staff( MELANIE- office Manager and LEAH-Dental assistant). MELANIE is worthless to hold title as office manager. I wish I could review a less than one star. This is not a children’s dentistry I would ever recommend to anyone. Management (Melanie) does not care about patients and patient’s family. I would recommend to take your children to university of Iowa. My son had dental fillings on 6/25/18. Leah(dental assistant) called my son’s name and I just followed her. She told me to stay outside the room and took my son inside. She didn’t tell me what they gonna do and didn’t ask me if I have any questions or concerns. I was waiting for them to come and talk to me and waiting to say bye to my son before he goes to procedure. Dr. Warrington didn’t come to talk to me before the procedure. I and my wife was stressing outside the room why they didn’t tell us anything. 30 minuets later, Dr. Warrington came and said that “he did fine” and walked away. I told to Leah that I have some questions and concerns about how I was treated today. She went to get (Melanie) office manager because doctor didn’t have time to talk to me. Melanie came, I told her that I feel like I was treated unfairly and didn’t know what’s going on. She believes that her staff did right thing and didn’t listen to my concerns. Melanie doesn’t know how to deal with patients and families. They didn’t give me any discharge information after procedure. I made a phone call today to transfer my kids dental care to other dentist, there customer service is worse. I’m glad to transfer from this worse place.

We absolutely love this place! My son is 4 months post Open Heart Surgery and to say that he gets extreme anxiety in any medical office setting...is an understatement! But not here! Not with Dr.Jack and his staff! They are wonderful! My son is excited to go and get his pretty teeth cleaned! He is so proud of himself with all the praise he got from the girls! The atmosphere is so wonderful too! This place is fun to be at for the kids and even the adults too! Bright colors and activities! They honestly take the time to make sure the kids are comfortable and reassured that the dentist is fun! We love Dr.Jack and his staff!!! If I could give them 1000 stars I would!

This office is amazing! The staff is educated, warm and always make the visit pleasant. It takes some pretty special people to be able to work with children at the dentist but this office excels at it. Alisha is one of our favorite hygienists, she is incredibly sweet and patient. She always makes the visit go quickly and does a wonderful job. Dr Warrington has to be one of the best dentists I have ever met. If he did adult dentistry I would be right there with my kids getting treated. Alas, he only does pediatric dentistry so my kids get to have the pleasure of being treated by him. Dr Warrington displays a warm, confident manner which leaves you knowing that your children are in good hands. He had to perform oral surgery on my daughter when she was not even two and I couldn’t have had her in better hands. My children will be going to this office as long as they possibly recommend and I will continue to refer as many people as possible to this office. Thank you guys for providing such good service and making the experience so pleasant!

The staff is VERY RUDE and unfriendly, my mother has a disability offered to take my 3 children to thier appoinment because I had to work but got lost , she called the office several times and when she made it there a lady argued with her about even still seeing any of the 3 kids and cancelled one of thier appoinments and to top it off they sent me a nasty letter saying my family isnt welcomed thier due to an inconvenience in thier pocket book, I have cancelled 2 but one of the times my daughter had strep and calling early in the morning on the same day wasnt good enough for them.

SEE EDIT BELOW INITIAL REVIEW...Today was our first visit to this office, with my 2.5 year old son. He didn't want to leave! This office has everything you could ask for to entertain, entice, and comfort your little ones. The staff was very friendly and respectful to both my son and myself. We saw Rachael and she was wonderful with my son. I couldn't possibly ask for more. Thank you, and keep up the great work, Des Moines Children's Dentistry!! :) EDIT: My son is now 5.5 years old and while we initially loved this office, I'm extremely disappointed in the care my son received from DDS Rachael Revell. We only saw her the first visit and the last three. Between then, we saw her partner, DDS Jack Warrington while she was on maternity leave. He was truly wonderful, and he was able to provide in-office treatment for initial fillings for my son without it ever being an issue, including the replacement of them when they fell out. However, when Rachael came back, she wasn't as great as that initial visit. And that's putting it mildly. For starters, she refused to replace the fillings when they came out and said that it was nothing to worry about, that we would just keep an eye on things, as her primary concern was over another dental issue. Long story short, I felt incredibly disrespected by Rachael and she threw us for quite a loop when suddenly she decided those lost fillings she didn't want to replace now warranted baby teeth root canals and crowns. I was blown away by her lack of compassion and overall disregard for my son. Rachael lacked any kindness at all when she claimed she was in an "ethical dilemma" because I was hindering all of the work she wanted to ultimately do for my son. My motherly instinct kicked in and I seeked another opinion from my own trusted childhood dentist, which I was encouraged to do once I explained how uneasy I was going forward with so much work on my five-year-old. That second opinion was very different from Rachel's "ethical dilemma." Yes, some of the work was needed, but most certainly not all of it was necessary. I asked to go forward with what I was comfortable with as soon as possible, but was told that both dentists at Des Moines Children's Dentistry refused to do any of the work if I wouldn't go through with all of it. I soon after received a letter of termination from the DMCD office. I no longer recommend this office due to the continued negative experiences had with Dr. Revell. This office might be okay for basic cleanings and check-ups thanks to all the extra entertainment for kids before and after visits, but I would not recommend going for more serious issues.

Called today about getting appointments for my daughter who is an established patient there and my son who would be a new patient. I had a particular day in mind and Michelle the receptionist was very rude saying "were full". I was attempting to ask about the next available but apparently she was too busy. I unfortunately will now just find a new dentist to take my children to. I work in healthcare and understand the importance of customer service and if a certain day is full you ALWAYS offer the next available. Sorry your office is too "full" to see my children.

I just left from taking my five-year-old to supposedly have fillings done and they were very rude an inconsiderate and rough with my child. Not only that but they were forceful having 1 holding my child down on her back well gripping her wrists so tight that her hands were turning red another trying to pry her mouth open while the dentist was also trying to pry her mouth open and all three of them were screaming at my child at the same time making it a very traumatic experience for her I would never recommend anyone taking their child there.

It’s taken me awhile to voice this review. We have since left this practice and have found a different provider. A year ago my son needed fillings. He has anxiety about new things. While I was trying to calm him, the staff berated me, threatened that if I opened my mouth and tried talking to calm my son that they would kick me out. That if my son wouldn’t calm down that we’d have to go to the hospital. It was awful! I am a very quiet, introverted and empathic person. There is no way I was being disruptive to them enough to be threatened to leave or berated. They also tried to bill me for a full amount without checking or billing my insurance. Financial discrepancies that after I spoke with my insurance and their head of billing had no idea why the staff had tried to charge me. The only thing I liked about this place was the technicians. They were always kind. My son just recently had a filling at a different practice and the way we were treated and out come was like night and day!

The entire staff at DCD really knows how to treat everyone. Just walking in the front door the staff is friendly, and some of the nicest people I have ever dealt with in my profession. I will never go back! I will go elsewhere. Sent me a letter in the mail, saying I missed a treatment for my son. I didnt realize cause they had me book a month out! i been taking my son to this place but today im very disappointed, they make me lose a day of work and drive all the way down from des moines to west des moines for nothing. they messed up a patient information and and they have me bring my son today, when i was there they said sorry but they don't know who called but since you are here we can clean your son's teets but you have to pay because your insurance only cover twice a year also they told me they can't do anything else because everything the do cost them money, they made me feel that my time is not valuable and that it only matters who is going to pay. i think is time to find a better place.

My children treated with Dr. Rachael Revell at DMCD. Dr. Revell truly respects and cares about the health of each and every child. My daughter loved her and the whimsical atmosphere of the office. My son, who is younger, was a little nervous of visiting a dental office for the first time, but Dr. Revell personally sat with him and made him feel comfortable and together they got the job done. He ended up having to have a follow-up procedure in the hospital, which is a little nerve racking for parents, but she made us feel at ease and confident that everything would be just fine. We followed Dr. Revell's instructions and we had a great outcome. Her work has stood the test of time. I highly recommend this dentistry.

Des Moines Children's Dentistry is by far the best choice for your kids' dental needs! I have three little ones, and we have been to a few other dentists around town before finding DMCD. In their offices, I felt like I didn't really get much of an explanation of services, or any suggestions as to how we could be proactive and creative to help the kids take care of their teeth the best way possible. From the very first visit at this facility, I was so impressed with the care and concern ALL the staff have for their patients and families! There is no way to review this place without going through our visit, so I apologize ahead of time for the lengthy report!  First, the waiting rooms are a dream come true for parents with multiple children! Ipads and megatouch screens are mounted on the wall and toys (and my son's favorite, a play house!) are available to keep kids occupied while waiting for services. Once we went back to be seen by the dentist, my little ones immediately were greeted with smiles and looked around to see cool fixtures and tvs that made them feel like this place was made just for them. Our assistant was AMAZING! We had to have x-rays done for my five year old and she was so patient and kind while we tried to convince him to stay still. Then she asked him if he wanted the overhead tv on, and after that, he was at ease, comfortably entertained while she gently explained each step of the cleaning. When the dentist and I talked about my childrens' needs, he was both informative and professional, yet approachable and helpful! I asked what I could do to help my son’s situation and he came up with a few things that I hadn’t thought of, and then he took me back to look at the computer with him to ensure I felt comfortable with each part of his recommended care plan. It was such a relief to finally find a dentist that made that kind of effort! When we were checking out and setting up our next appts, I was impressed yet again, with the office efficiency. As I said, I have three little ones so depending on what they need done, it takes a bit to get everything sorted out. I had one staff member on the appts with them, one staff member working on our appt off site, and then the office manager came out to help with the kindergarten paperwork I requested! Everyone showed genuine enthusiasm and the kids left telling me how effortless that was! I will ALWAYS refer my friends, family, or anyone with little people to come here if you want to take your kids to a facility that makes taking care of them a priority, from the moment you walk in the door, until the moment you walk out. THANK YOU DMCD for making my life easier! I don’t have to bribe and drag the little angels to the dentist anymore and its great!!! :)

Upon walking into the door all of the front staff were dressed up in different princess costumes. It was very open airy, bright colors, my daughter loved the toys. The staff was all so very nice. The exam rooms were clean, tv for the kiddos to watch. The doctor was very patient with my daughter and explained things to her. After the appointment, the doctor took the time to speak with me about what the best route is for treating my daughter. While we were talking, one of the staff took her to get a prize and took her to another game room. After the appointment, my daughter said she liked it and wouldn't mind going back which is huge for her.

We love this entire office and Dr. Revell. Everyone is always exceptionally nice, the place is so clean, and they cater so well to children. The place is so visually appealing for kids, and having the movies and toys really helps my daughter think this is a fun place. I love that the dental assistants have my 4 year old daughter touch the instruments they are going to use on her so she sees that they're not scary and won't hurt. I think that really helps. Besides all of this, I trust their expertise and feel they really take good care of my child and ease my mind when we visit. I can't say enough good things about this office.

I couldn’t be more pleased with this dentist office all around. My sons dentist Dr Warrington and all his assistants are seriously the BEST! They’re all so patient and make sure the kids are comfortable before they even get started. Terrible experience here. I won't return unless there is no other choice. They wont let you in the room with your children. They make you sit outside the closed room on a wooden block. They have their own convenience in mind first patient second and parent last. If you have other children not being seen you have to have another adult watch them or leave them home. I had to add to this review because our experience when we left was even more terrible. The doctor went from one treatment room to my daughters without washing her hands and had the same face mask on. While my daughter was laying in the chair the lady helping the doctor sprayed a toxic chemical multiple times right in close proximity to her face. Within a foot. When I talked to the dr. about my issues she didn't want to hear it. She just kept saying she didn't do anything wrong. When I spoke to the office manager about my concerns they said that we could not return. I told her that treatment would likely be delayed if they did not finish the other half and they said they didn't care because we aren't a "good fit" for them. Be warned, unless you're a good girl and do what they tell you, you will not be able to come back and don't dare voice any concerns that you have to them. Because I could not leave a response to the doctors comment below I am having to once again edit this review. This is my response to the comment: You make it seem as if I did one of those three things. Which I did not do any of those things. I did not exhibit hostility. I did not use profanity. And I did not make any false accusations. So the mention of young impressionable children in your office and keeping a safe atmosphere has nothing to do with me and my experience today. I spoken a calm matter I expressed my concerns I never threatened nor did I yell or cause a scene. I specifically just expressed my concern and because of that I was treated poorly. Customer service family comfort and the best interest of the child are not what you work for. Reviews are for people to read so they know what other people's experiences were. I definitely did not need your feedback especially since you listed things that did not happen and made it seem as if they did. One more reason why I made this review. You are completely close-minded to any others ideas except for your own and when challenged instead of accepting the feelings of the other person you just make it seem as though they were making a scene and causing a riot. Nothing of the sort happened. And any children that heard my conversation or parents for that matter I hope learn from it to stand up for themselves and their children. Speaking up and having a voice doesn't mean you're aggressive and hostile.

I have been taking my 4 kids here for about a year and a half now. They are so great with them all. They talk them through what is happening at each step in the process and genuinely care about the kids they see. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking and I will be bringing my kids here for years to come

Didnt like how the front staff dealt with the Mexican woman and her son Alejandro this morning. The front staff kept loud, you have a balance or co-pay of 284.00 dollars. And she looked very snotty while announcing to the world. Lacked discreetness and professionalism. It was as though she was expecting the woman to say she doesn't have it and bid her Farewell. She paid cash and remained poised. I deal with patients /clients all the time and would recommend some training with this type of customer service. The other girl acted so frustrated that she couldn't pull my insurance, acted all miserable that we have to wait till insurance office opens to run insurance, very unprofessional. Other than the unprofessional staff upfront, place is fair.

All of the staff has been amazing!! My 8 year old son is autistic and they were wonderful with him. He needed a tooth pulled and they made the process extremely quick. I wasn’t able to be in the room with him, but I sat right outside the window where my son could still see me. You could tell that they handle the children with such care. At one point I was crying because I could hear my son getting upset and another staff came by and brought me tissues. I just felt very cared for through the whole process. I won’t take my son anywhere else now.

The staff at the clinic is great i am just disheartened by the fact that everytime we come in the price seems to go up with out any warning. We have been coming here since before my daughter was 2...the 1st 2 appointments we around $75...then i come in for a routine check and the price jumps up to $175 which caught me off guard and now 6 month later i take my daughter in for another check up and the now the price has jumped up to $243...we have no insurance so these prices are hard to swallow when you are not expecting them...this clinic is good about reminding you of your appointment just wish they would give an estimate of charges so you are not caught off guard.

We feel very blessed to have finally found a good pediatric dentist that will meet the needs of our daughter. Des Moines Children's Dentistry felt like a family environment even on our first visit....they were very thorough on answering questions and making sure we understood all we needed to for current and future visits. Des Moines Children's Dentistry is an amazing place. The staff is so kind, helpful, patient, and just awesome. Dr. Revell is so nice and she explains everything that she is doing to the kids so they are not as afraid of what's going on. My daughter was so nervous on her first visit, but with the toys in the waiting room, the tvs in the exam rooms, the really cool playroom for the kids while the parents are talking to the doctors, and then they get to pick a prize at the end. Now she loves going to the dentist. I am so glad that there is a dentist office like them for kids where it feels like a safe and fun place to go. The only thing bad is that is an hour drive from us, but it is so worth it. Over all awesome place and I would and do recommend them to anyone and everyone who has kids.

We had Dr. Rachel and Jim today and both were fantastic with my son. He was a little anxious when we first arrived knowing he was going to have a tooth pulled, but they were so calm and comforting with him. Great children dentistry, I only wish they had a more open line for dental emergencies. Otherwise they are great with my kids not a huge wait to get in to see the dentist either after check in. Friendly staff and very knowledge dentist.

The staff here is AMAZING! My son wasnt really into the dentist today and they were so patient with him! They took him to another room to feel more comfortable. They let you be right by your kids side. I couldn't recommend this place enough! and they let your children being seen get a prize at the end :)

The hygienist and dentist made my three year old feel as comfortable as possible. Even when she didn't completely comply with their requests, they were understanding and made the most of it. I can't imagine how they could have dealt with her better. The fact that the entire place is designed for kids makes it so much less daunting. The surroundings make it seem like a fun place to be rather than a scary place to be. It's amazing what a difference that makes!
