POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! I contacted Pure Zen Dentistry on Wednesday, June 25, 2014, to reschedule my appointment on Monday, July 21, 2014, at 9:00 AM. My initial phone call went unanswered, so I called the office back. This time Val answered the phone. I informed her that I needed to reschedule my appointment. She rudely informed me that the office was closed and would take my information. Well, since you answered the phone, I think you could go on and change the appointment. OH, NO!!! This must be beyond her duties!!! She was very RUDE!!! She acted like no one should be calling. Well, I'm sorry, but 1) I didn't know the office was closed and 2) since you answered the phone just change the appointment. Consequently, they lost a patient today because of VAL.

i dont remember her name, but the young lady who cleaned my teeth, she said she was a "temp", she was fantastic! i assume she did a great job on my teeth, and i assume anyone who is qualified and trained would do a good job on teeth, but the thing that is more important is her ability to communicate, make me feel like a million bucks, make the miserable experience of visiting the dentist seem not so bad, etc. she is looking for full time work, if you have an opening or can create one...you should hire her. everyone else i met was fantastic too. i had seen all of them before and they are always wonderful. so your current staff is still great...but consider finding a place for the temp!

Went in for a very painful tooth from a botched filling by another dentist. When I expressed concern w/Dr. Brooke Adler's recommended treatment plan, and wanted to discuss it some more, Dr. Adler became frustrated and lifted my seat and took off her mask and said "it seems like you don't want to follow through with my recommended treatment". I explained that I did desperately need to be treated, because I was in a lot of pain and my insurance, which covered the cost of the treatment, was expiring that week. Then she said that there wasn't time to do any treatment that day (even though she had just told me she could treat me and I confirmed multiple times before when setting up the appointment that there would be time). I said that I had made an appointment specifically for treatment that day (and had taken the time off and moved things around for the treatment). Then Dr. Adler said she would go talk to her office manager. When Dr. Adler came back a few minutes later, she asked me to get up and follow her. I asked if I was going to be treated, and she would only answer "The office manager will explain everything." When I arrived at the manager's office, Dr. Adler quickly left me there. The office manager handed me a referral from Dr. Adler to go see another dentist. I told the office manager that I had told Dr. Adler I did want to move forward with her treatment plan, because there wasn't time to go see another dentist that week. The office manager was arrogant and rude, and refused to help me even though I was crying and begging for her help. I was so devastated. I had never experienced a doctor or dentist refusing to treat me, or someone acting so petty and smug about withholding treatment from me. This was all bad enough. But then 2 days later, I received a 'Cease and Desist' letter from Pure Zen's attorney stating that if I didn't remove the negative reviews I had posted on Yelp and Google following my experience, that Pure Zen and Dr. Adler would SUE ME for defamation and 'emotional distress' caused by my bad reviews. This added insult to injury, as I was the one who had actually been hurt by this whole situation. I was (and still am) the one in pain and Pure Zen are the ones who were in the wrong. If anything, I should have been suing them! But I had wasted enough stress and mental energy on them already. I responded that I knew my rights and the defamation laws and that businesses cannot win lawsuits against consumers for recounting true experiences with them online. Their attorney began to argue back and forth with me about this via email for several hours the evening before NYE, and stated that if I did not remove the reviews, then they would sue me and I would need to hire a lawyer to defend myself. They were basically trying to bully me with the threat of significant legal expenses to take down my review. When I continued to refuse, citing that my statements were true and that I would defend myself in court if necessary, Pure Zen's attorney replied that she's "looking forward" to suing me and that she may also pursue defamation charges against her law firm (Taft), though I had not mentioned her law firm anywhere online before this. This put me under tremendous stress and anxiety that negatively impacted my holiday weekend, and has continued to stress me out these last few weeks. Ordinary people should not have to worry about companies and medical practices making them go broke if they refuse to allow their right to free speech be taken away from them. It's a form of legal extortion that is wrong and something I would never expect from a medical professional. So far, I have not received any court filing notice, so hopefully this group has come to their senses and dropped their outrageous legal threat against me. It is amazing to me that they didn't just apologize, own up to their mistakes, and work with me to come up with a resolution to get me treated. That's what any good practice would have done. I just hope that no one else has to go through this.

As the other reviewer who was threatened by their attorney stated, "they promptly left me there." My experience is similar. I had oral surgery scheduled already for over two weeks. When I arrived two days ago, it appears they scheduled two oral surgeries at much the same time for one surgeon. They took the other patient first, and after 3 hours waiting in the chair in the adjoining booth, I told the surgeon, who appeared to be finishing lunch, that I was leaving. She confirmed to me that the office had scheduled two of us at the same time. I also told the front desk that when the office got their act together that they could call me. Two days have passed, with no word from the office. They told me they needed payment in advance, and charged my co-payment of $1200 in advance.

I needed a second opinion after getting an aggressive and exaggerated treatment plan from a new dentist--I found Pure Zen, and was thrilled when they gave me an honest and true assessment with better prices and a much more compassionate environment. I recently had an exam and cleaning with Dr. Julia, and I loved her! I also just had a root canal and crown with Dr. Javed. He was great, and I loved the dental assistant as well! Very impressed with Pure Zen, and I would recommend to all my friends and family.

Wish I could add more stars. Beautiful place with beautiful people. This is top of the line. It doesn't get any better than this. The staff members are attentive and very compassionate. I'm mortified when it comes to needles. I kid you not I never felt the needles entering into my gums for my fill ins. I had four fill ins that were done in under an hour and a half. Coming here revealed to me that I've been receiving inadequate care at previous dental offices. I will never go to another dentist lol. I'm happy as can be. Please come here for quality.

I really don't like going to the Dentist, but this place was serene and pleasant. They did what I asked and I got all my questions answered. The conversation was also very upscale from what you get with a common practice. I usually like to get in and get out, but not with this place. They are very bright and willing to listen to you. You have to deal with the typical medical policies and jargon, so yes - they will prick your gums, clean them abrasively, and suggest the best course of action even though it might be more expensive or not what you want...but it wasn't unpleasant. I was a little sore, but at least I felt in control. If expected much worse going in and left in very little pain that normal. I did have surgery here on my wisdom teeth, and bravo to how they handled it. Very pleasant experience. It was left with some slight problems, but this is typical for wisdom teeth. The actual boon was that they gave me the cell phone number of the surgeon. He was a stand-up guy, as was his assistant. I was not knocked out and they made what could have been a nerve-racking day into a quick and easy one. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

This is the best place I’ve ever been to. Staff is very nice and friendly. I have went to two other dentists before and I change my mind at last minute because they make me feel very nervous, but this place got me very comfortable and ready to do my teeth and I wasn’t scared at all. Oh man I don't even know where to begin. I would say stay the heck away from this place. They are extremely shady. They are very insistent when it comes to collecting their money but they don't deliver on their promised services. If I could only be able to take you through all the events chronologically you would cringe and run as fast as you can. Basically they took my sisters money for $6,000 in full for her Invisalign braces, then they stopped treating her in the middle of it using the excuse that their practice has been acquired by a different doctor and they have no way of contacting their previous doctor. Well, I found that doctor on facebooks, she told me that they were supposed to fully take over her patients and they have her contact details and have been in touch with her but she by contract is not permitted to be in contact with her previous patients. So then we contact pure zen again and they tell us that only their manager can help us but apparently she only works on Fridays but when you call the office on Friday, it says it's closed. So they basically don't want to deliver the services they promised but they have been fully paid. We are seeking legal advise and pursuing possible legal action. I will also be involving Better Business Bureu.

I set up a consultation with pure zen to look into invisalign braces. When I first went in they told me they'd first clean my teeth which was covered completely by my insurance and take care of one tooth I had an issue with before we tackled the braces. On my follow up which I was told I was coming in for a crown they told me I needed an extensive cleaning. They wrote me up a plan and the total came to around $400 out of pocket when that wasn't what I came in for at all. And part of that bill was a $140 toothbrush they tried to persuade me into buying. The cleaning itself was the closest thing to being paid to get tortured I can describe. Basically had someone dig at my gums with a needle while I wasn't numb for 2 hours, even after I made it clear I could feel everything. Then the girl who was performing the procedure got huffy and puffy when I squirmed. Most uncomfortable dentist visit in my life by a land slide. Just like other reviews on here I feel that this place pushes products on people and recommends procedures that are unnecessary. I wouldnt go back if they performed the rest of the work for free. I took the time to create this account just to write this review and I'm posting under my real name in hopes they read this and understand why I cancelled my next appointment. Concentrate more on being dentist and less on being sales people

I had dental work done June 12th with Dr. Javed and he was wonderful. He's very patient and makes sure the pain level is non existent. I hate pain and the dentist but this office has made the experience relaxing and wonderful. The staff is great!!! I have had a number of procedures, from a filling for a small chip on my front tooth to a root canal and crown, that was successfully completed at Pure Zen, and I could not be happier with the results. Nice & friendly staff, fairly quick visits, no time wasting. I'm getting invisalign, and it's probably been the easiest visits ever. Walk in, within 5 minutes get called to the back, sit down, get greeted, doc comes in when necessary, visit over within 15 minutes for my Invisalign. Clear, concise, efficient, nice...what else would you want from a Dentistry?

I have been going to Pure Zen for years now. The first time I went, I hadn't been to a dentist in too many years from a fear I developed from a previous experience at a different dental office. Pure Zen is a night and day difference. They came up with a plan of attack to get my teeth healthy again. I hate going to the dentist with a passion! However, I have been very pleased with the service I have gotten at Pure Zen. I went in for a teeth cleaning and needed a crown and a tooth extraction. I have to say the experience was one of the best I have had at a dental office which is saying a lot. In my 3 appointments there, I never had to wait more than 5 minutes to be seen. The people, especially Tera, were very pleasant and knew what they were doing. Very happy with everything!

I had an absolutely terrible experience. Lindsay and Dr. Shalit tried to convince me that I had previously had 2 fillings for cavities, when my dental record shows I have never had a cavity. What they were seeing were sealants, as I tried to explain, but they would not accept that and continued to tell me that I was simply not remembering having 2 fillings for cavities. A call to my former dentist confirmed that they were sealants. Dr. Shalit wanted to do 3 fillings on cavities. A visit to my former dentist for a 2nd opinion showed no signs of decay or need for fillings. It is disgusting that someone in a position of trust is extorting money from patients for procedures they do not need. It is disgusting that a caregiver makes their patient feel confused and anxious to obtain consent for said procedures. My former dentist is quite the drive from me now, but I will gladly make the drive to continue to see her rather than a dentist who is only concerned about the bottom line. Having the latest technology and fanciest office does you no good if you are lying to your patients and performing unnecessary work to afford it.
