Waialae Dental Care is GREAT!

Friendly staff. Provided good work. Teeth cleaned well, no fuss no muss!!! X-rays were quick and efficient. The doctor was thorough in examining my teeth and gums. Provided me with information on options for taking care of my old fillings by capping my tooth that needed most care. Overall my visit was pleasant and quick. Thank you Waialae Dental Care !!!

So disappointed in this facility. I was told over the phone that I would be charged $35 today for an exam and x rays. The lady said that if they did any minimal work that it could go up to $88 for the basics and I would be provided with a breakdown before they did anything that went over that. So when I got here and checked in, the receptionist told me I would be paying MINIMUM $100 plus tax just to be seen. And that any x rays or cleaning would be extra. I explained that this is different from what I was told on the phone, and she pretty much told me I was either going to pay the extra money or be SOL. Keep in mind, they knew I had a cracked tooth and needed to be seen ASAP. So this was a clear attempt at trying to hustle more money out of me in desperation. I asked her to please check with the woman I spoke to on the phone. She left for a moment, came back, and told me that the other lady told me that it would be $100 minimum. This was a blatant lie. I had the notes from the entire conversation. I wrote everything down as we were discussing it. For a moment I thought, am I in the wrong place? I pulled up the website. Sure enough, right location. And funny enough on their home page they had the $35 price for the exam and x rays. Exactly what I was told on the phone, exactly what I came there for. And I confronted the receptionist and she instantly looked guilty. She refused to honor the price and told me that I needed to pay $100 to be seen, and that I didn't have much choice since I needed to be seen right away for my broken tooth. Well I did have a choice. I had the choice to walk out and never return to your establishment. I don't deal with liars and scammers, and sadly that is what this facility proved itself to be today. I would rather be in pain than spend one dime enabling a facility that scams our military families or any hard working family for that matter. I will make sure every friend, colleague, and service member I know stays clear of you.

I appreciate Miss Heather assisting me with alternative options for my daughters dentist appointments. I especially appreciate her referring Dr. Lee to be my daughters dentist. Dr. Lee is a superb doctor/dentist. He is very personable and genuine. He is very down to earth and humble which is very hard to find in a doctor's character/personality now and these days. I trust his judgement and his work as it is very highly valued when I saw him take care of my daughter's teeth. He is a great asset to Waialae Dental.

I joined WDC solely because of Dr. Cedric Lewis ... he was a 2-man practice then. Now, he's seldom there. Opening a PC branch. And when I recently had gum-antibiotic treatment by a hygienist, NO dentist came to look at and approve the work afterwards. I fear the Kahala Mall office is becoming something of a "dental factory." Very young dentists without years of experience.

I somewhat reluctantly switched dentists out of a need for more flexible scheduling. I certainly have been pleased with the service at Waialae Dental Care and have been going there over a year now. Cleaning have been $0 each time (with insurance), and any work I have had to have done beyond that has been very reasonable. I really appreciate how the staff follow up with multiple appointment reminders. They also have consistently been on time when I have gone, and even have taken me early when I've arrived before the scheduled time. The dentists and techs are all professional and I've received great service and answers to all of my questions. Highly recommend.

New Patient. Call in the morning around 10am for a cleaning & Xrays.. No Problem. Yes come in. Got there early to fill out the paperwork on a Tablet. Took 18 Xrays with a small device instead of the Big Scary Machine over yr head. Clean & checked my teeth. And was able to stay & have Dr. Dennis fill a small cavity while still there!! They gave me an Estimate for other work to be done. Very Good Staff & Pleasant Demeanour!! Definitely Recommend!! Aloha;)

Always great service here. They do x-rays, take pictures, cleaning all in the same chair. they got netflix up on the tv so you can watch while they do work. They explain everything very thoroughly and answer all my questions!!

I showed up in excruciating pain in the left side of my mouth, Dr. Lee found the tooth he believed to be causing it, but I had no feeling in that tooth so the test was inconclusive. The next day my pain increased but I was able to identify where it was coming from. The staff was very helpful in getting me back in promptly so I could be operated on. I got a root canal and a crown put in and I am no longer in agonizing pain. I hate going to the dentist, but when I HAVE to go to one, this is my first and only choice.

I went in to Waialae Dental Care for a cleaning and found out that I needed some fillings and a crown. Dr. Lee was the dentist I saw and he was very professional. He explained things simply and got right to the point and was able to do my fillings and crown in a timely manner. Even after my appointment, he called to check up on me to see how I was doing, and to see if my crown felt comfortable. I enjoy going in to Waialae Dental Care because everyone makes me feel like I am apart of their family and takes great care of me! Thank you, for exceeding my expectations and needs.

This was my first visit as I was changing dentists. The entire staff was friendly, helpful, and explained everything thoroughly. The office staff quickly corrected a mistake that was made when my appointment was booked. The hygienist was thorough and made sure that I was not in any discomfort at any time. Dr. McCullogh explained all my symptoms, showed me pictures and x-rays of the problems and explained the next steps to correct the problems. This was one of the beat experiences that I have had during a dental appt.

This review is specifically for Kevin Leong. I had several fillings done at Waialae Dental Care two years ago. I'm on the mainland now and my new dentist remarked about the poor quality of his work. Now my only option to fix his mistake is a root canal. Look elsewhere, there are much better dentists in Honolulu.

100% professional service by Dr. Kevin Leong and hygenist. I had to schedule an emergency appointment for a chipped tooth. They were friendly, on-time, and did such a great job. My smile looks perfect- you can't even tell that there was a chip on my front tooth! I am so pleased with the work done. Not only was it a good job, but they made sure I was comfortable and cared for the entire time. I felt very respected in their work place and pleased with my experience! Late Monday night my teeth went crazy with pain and it was without a doubt the worst dental pain of my life. To call it excruciating is an understatement. I had gone to our family dentist in the late afternoon that day. Of course, it’s now 8pm and my pain is off the chart! I called my dentist as I had no idea how to manage the pain. Do I take Tylenol, Ibuprofen or the medication I am prescribed under my pain management agreement? That’s all I needed. His response left me in tears. “There’s nothing I can do for you.” Was the response I received. At that point I was doing the “ugly cry” and spinning out of control in pure agony. Now what do I do? I am blessed to be under the care of an amazing pain management doctor and his team. I know he’s not a dentist but I was confident he could tell me how to manage the pain overnight. He immediately calmed me down and outlined a pain management strategy. He also suggested I call Waialae Dental Care the next morning. He felt confident I could be seen immediately. He was right! When I called the next morning, they scheduled me for an appointment that day. Their entire staff treated me as if I had been a patient for years and it wasn’t my first visit. Within minutes in the chair my pain was under control and I well numbed up ready for the departure of my two “pains in my mouth!!” (Lol). Now it might surprise you to know that I am petrified of dentists.... Dr. Lee and Skye were so “on it!” A slight pinch and what seemed to be only a few minutes later (although I’m told it wasn’t), and it was all over. I am rid of both the two teeth that were so painful and the family dentist who “could do nothing for me”. Thank you Dr. Lee, Skye and ALL of the staff at Waialae Dental Care. I actually got some sleep last night. I’ve found my “forever” dentist and dental care team. Thank you so much for taking such good care of me.

First visit great, front and back people very friendly. The bad; it's expensive and they don't coordinate properly the schedules, long long time waiting. So be ready for a 2 to 3 hours minimum when you get there. It didn't work for me.

This company has some of the best staff that are welcoming and personal with patients. They are not the get patients in and out type of staff, but they genuinely enjoy getting to learn about patients and their daily whereabouts. The dentists here are caring of your oral hygiene and will recommend treatments only if they see fit. The hygienists are very friendly and informative in making sure that you are brushing and flossing every day, which, in the long run, will protect your oral health and lead to less financial loss. They are an awesome family, and I am thankful for being a patient here!

This is easily the best dental clinic I’ve ever been to. For my very first experience with them, I went in because I was having pain in my left mouth. They took my appointment that day, saw that I needed to get my wisdoms pulled, and took them out that day. They treated me as if I had already been a patient with them for many years and took great care of me. They have flat screen TVs in every room and even one on the ceiling to keep you as comfortable as possible. Everyone is really friendly and professional.

Waialae Dental care is the only dental office that I go to and one I recommend to ALL my friends and family. Dr. Kevin Leong shows professional care of all my needs while at the same time being very personable. He is very knowledgeable in his work and expertise. He not only gives informed preventive care but is also very aware of my individual future needs and gives good advice to prevent those future problems from occurring. He keeps me 100% aware of what may happen down the road, shares with me my options, while giving me the final decision without being pushy in what kind of decisions I want to make for my own health care. He is willing and able to do all the work and is very respectful in any decisions I make. Quality of work is of EXCELLENT caliber and he continues to exhibit quality of one of the best dentists in the state.

I love this dental office! They offer great financing options which is wonderful so you can get the care you need without stressing about it being out of your budget. The staff listen and they're very friendly and understanding. The office hours are convenient for all schedules and I can always get an appointment without having to wait months!

Went in with my upper right teeth hurting really bad. I waited 5 days pain wouldnt go away so I called waialae dental care and told them the pain is too bad to handle anymore. They saw me within 24 hours. I went in, did x-rays, and was told I need a crown and some fillings on teeth other than the upper right side where the pain was. Dr. Dunkelberger let me know what needed to be done in order of severity by showing me on his computer screen. I said lets do the crown and fillings. He started right away and I was in there for 2 hours with my mouth wide open getting drilled and filled. halfway through, the front desk lady came in and said ok, here is a list of the work needed to be done, here is the total you owe and what insurance will pay and asked how id like to pay. I agreed to the cost and we continued my fillings and crown for another hour. when i was done, dr. dunkelberger said ok we'll see you in two weeks for your permanant crown, go out front to reception where you can pay your balance. (He sent me out with crest toothpaste for the horrible throbbing pain in my upper right teeth. thats it.) He also told me to stop grinding my teeth at night (because we all know thats a concious decision). I went out to front desk and the front desk girl said okay I'll take your payment, to which I handed her my credit card. after payment and reciept was given to me, she shows me a second invoice and said, "okay when you come back heres what we're going to do and it'll cost (x amount of $$). I said "THERES MORE?" why wouldnt they itemize the work needed to be done, total that out and then tell me the first time when the girl came in the room? I would have had the opportunity to pick which work i could afford. When i came back a couple weeks later for my permanent crown, dr dunkelberger kept saying that they made the crown too thick and he kept trying to grind it down. Now when i move my jaw any way other than up and down my back left teeth always grind and its super annoying. he also got upset with me after i let him know my thoughts about how my experience went. I described it as going to a mechanic where you go in with one problem to fix and the mechanic comes out telling you that you need to fix this this and this otherwise you'll need root canals etc. I told him I understand its my problem and im sure the work should have been done but i thought it was shady they wouldnt tell me the total for all the work the first time. I let him know that I understand that this is a business and he needs customers, to which he interupted me and said "I dont own a business I get paid either way." I smiled, shook his hand and thanked him for his time and walked out. Dr. Dunkelberger, I work in a hotel, i dont own it, but I do need customers in order to get paid. P.S, I never got that mouth guard you said I needed to stop my grinding and pain. seems pretty un-ethical if you know thats what I need but wouldnt fit me for one bc you disagreed with my views on how this all went down. The assistants there are all very nice. the place was airconditioned and had tv for you to watch while getting work done. Place has alot of potential just needs to work on transparency from reception. Also, Dr. Dunkelberger just didnt seem like he wanted to help but more so complete that assigned tasks. I dont know.. I dont want to complain I hate this, but people should know.. If you're reading this and you go in, just ask questions. tons of them.
