I had great fear of dental work because of an experience of my youth. From this incident I stayed away from Dentists. Now that I'm older I realized the importance of good follow up care. This neglect had put me in a very bad situation. I saw an ad in the paper regarding Dr. Miyasaki. I called to make an appointment and can say that this was one of the most important and rewarding decisions I have made for myself. It took time for me to make a first appointment as a caregiver to my mother and other restraints. Then he took the time to write me regarding my care and encouragement. I then decided and scheduled my first appointment with him. I don't think Dr. Miyasaki even realizes how much he does for others as he has done for me. He has a gift. I recognized it the first time he worked on my teeth. My fears were gone the minute he stepped into the room. He's soft spoken and has few words to say, but his work is to be admired. Every step of the way was an experience of a professional at work. A master in his field, his nurses work so well with him,very skilled and compassionate. His office staff so detailed and pleasant. I will always have praises for Dr. Miyasaki and his gift of Dentistry and he will be remembered each time I smile at myself in the mirror. Good Job Dr. Miyasaki! This office is tucked in the heart of Chinatown but once you step into the office you forget the busy happenings outside. The office, though small, is clean and the staff pleasant and welcoming. I came in to see Dr David Miyasaki for a consultation for a dental implant procedure. The office works with a team of capable professionals with the expertise of achieving the results I wanted. Dr David Miyasaki is very professional, explaining the procedure to be done and the end result he wants to achieve to get that beautiful smile. A tray with Starbucks coffee, bottled water and a can of pineapple juice was brought to me while I filled out new patient forms. Staff was extremely friendly and made great efforts to make me feel comfortable which I thought was great while thinking back how petrified my mom used to be of dentists. While waiting for my X-rays to be processed the hygienist asked if I wanted my teeth cleaned because she had some time before her next patient. She saved me an additional appointment!!! Dr. Miyasaki was nice and reviewed my X-rays, let me know what problems needed to be addressed. When I left he gave me a long stem red rose in thanks for becoming a new patient. Looking forward to my next appointment.

The work that Dr Miyasaki did on my teeth was excellent. I was ashamed of my teeth before Dr Miyasaki worked on them and disappointed at the work my previous dentist didn't do that needed to be done. It was a great experience I got hanapa twice n she the hygienist never New she caught me! Ha! Unaware of the Hawaian language hanapa meaning caught I twice! But that’s ok! I get passed up a lot! But she was very professional about taking care of my built up plaque that I have been saving up for this day! I would like to compliment the front office staff, both Darlyne and Julia, for their thoughtfulness given to each patient, including me. I don’t think there are any two persons with show this type of consideration they give to their patients. Also like to commend dental hygienist Verna for her excellence in checking and cleaning my teeth. I have been going to Downtown Dental Group for over twenty years and she has taken very good care of my teeth, tongue, pallets, inner cheeks and gums. And finally, Dr. Miyasaki, who I think is the best dentist in the state. He does an excellent job in handling any work that is required for me. I never feel any pain and he take care of my teeth. I was referred by my friend to go see Dr. Wilfred Miyazaki for a consultation for my badly receded gum around dental implants. Dr. Miyazaki and his assistant are very personable and genuinely sincere. First, his assistant (I forgot to ask her name) asked me the details of my problem and written down. Dr. Miyazaki took time to examine my gum and implants area. He didn’t charge anything for the examination. Today was my first visit and didn’t do any treatment yet but I have confidence Dr. Miyazaki will take care of my problem. I just wish I knew Dr. Miyazaki before I’ve done a failed gum graft from other dentist.

Dr. Wilfred M is by far the best dentist I've been to. He is extremely knowledgeable and fair with everything (including price!) He made me feel so comfortable and took on my problem tooth that was causing me a lot of stress. No more irritation or nonsense. I now have a beautiful crown and it looks just perfect. I also opted to do a little cosmetic rejuvenation on two teeth towards the front to balance my smile after years of grinding. My teeth resemble my teenage years again and he pulled off something that other dentists simply can not do. He is amazing and I can't believe I found a dentist that I actually like. hahaha. Give him a shot, he's the best there is, and beyond affordable.

Dr. Miyasaki and his staff have sponsored "Dentists With A Heart" for many years now. They conduct this event as volunteers for those in need of dental services. They are not rude employees and provide quality service to all patients that visit their office. Dr. Miyasaki and his staff are to be commended for a job well done and I sincerely hope that the "Dentists With A Heart" Program continues for many more years.

I intended to give a full report after my final visit. To date, I have had a consultation and four appointments thereafter. I have one more appointment to complete the work. I pay cash and expect a discount for professional dental work. I simply could not wait any longer to tell my experience. It begins with a dental discount ad catching my attention. I can honestly say starting from walking in to their office to stepping out their front door, my experience has been nothing but amazing. Best dental filling I ever had This is the first time that I ever had dental fillings done and I did not feel any pain at all. I was so happy that I hugged my dentist and his assistant afterwards! Dr. David Miyasaki really lives up to the testimony that this dental practice caters to cowards. I have a very low tolerance to pain and until I found his father, Dr. Wilfred Miyasaki years ago, I was a true dental phobic. Dr. David listened to my fears and made sure that I didn't feel any pain whatsoever by giving me a topical anesthetic before giving me a novacaine shot (which I didn't feel at all) and making sure that I got enough novacaine (and gave it time to sink in good), so I wouldn't feel the procedure at all. He constantly checked on me during the procedure to make sure I was okay and explained everything to me as he worked, so I would know what to expect. I was a little nervous at first because this was the first time Dr. David was going to do my fillings. I met him for the first time last month when I needed to get a broken tooth fixed (and his father was not available for the appointmennt time I needed) and he took good care of me then as well. As I had mentioned before in my last review, the saying is true that "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree" because this dental practice of father and son is the best on the island. Just ask any former dental phobic that is a patient there! I recommend them highly. The level of skill, care, and compassion is second to none! Also, having weekend hours has been great for me (since I work double jobs and have a special needs son). Can't find that in a lot of dental practices around. Look no further, you have found your new great dentist! :-)

Thank you Dr. David Miyasaki and the rest of the Downtown Dental Group staff. What I liked is that much effort was placed to make me feel welcomed, and I did feel completely welcomed during my visit. I also liked the fact that Dr. David listened to how I felt about what and how treatment for my dental health should be worked out. Not having dental insurance I was very concerned about my financial budget. I suggested that my dental treatment be stretched out to a six month period, consisting of three sessions, so I could have some time to pay down my credit card account. Dr. David listened and understood my problem and went along with my suggested plan. The total bill was not cheap, but I think it was honest and completely fair. I’m very pleased with Dr. David’s work and feel like I have a “new” set of teeth. I totally recommend Dr. David and his staff.

Upon entering Dr. Miyasaki's office, you are always greeted and welcomed warmly by his entire staff no matter how busy they are on the phone or with another patient. The waiting time is minimal, and once inside to see the dentist, the welcoming greeting contines by the other staff members. Dr. Miyasaki is a dentist that I trust wholeheartedly with the care of my teeth and oral hygiene. He does excellent work and I'm always pleased with the results. Many people have told me how good my teeth looks. My husband and I have traveled and lived internationally in England and Belgium for six years. Therefore, I have been to several dentists and hygienists who have admired my teeth and the work that has been done on it. It only confirmed what I already knew. Dr. Miyasaki is meticulous with his work and alongside his support team, they all try to make the dental experience as comfortable as possible. I have been with Dr. Miyasaki for many years before traveling abroad and would not choose any other dentist now that we are home in Hawaii. I am encouraging others to have a visit if they are on the verge of looking for a new dentist.

I’ve been going to Downtown Dental for years now. My first ever visit was great. They were friendly and helpful all around. Doctor is always smiling and always happy. Also genuine about his work and what not. I got my teeth straightened with Invisalign like 5 years ago and have been going back for any other procedures I want done because they’re that great! Easy to work with and they try to help you with payments and what not. They really think about the patient and I love that. Definitely love the whole team.

Another great visit to my dentist. Had a teeth cleaning appointment at 2:00 in the afternoon. Arrived 15 minutes early and was greeted by Julia and Darlyne. Waited less than 5 minutes before my dental hygienist Janet got me from their waiting room and brought me into her "office" and prepared me for my teeth cleaning. Janet made me feel very comfortable throughout the whole time I was in her "office". She explained thoroughly what she was going to do during this visit, taking a few X-rays and teeth cleaning. Before I knew it, I was done! From the moment I stepped into the waiting room to when I left, I felt very comfortable and relaxed! The waiting room, the restroom and Janet's "office" was very clean! The whole staff of Dr. Miyasaki again did an incredible job! Can't say enough about them! 5 stars to this business! Looking forward to my next visit!

Since I was pressured by my grand daughter, in May 2016, to have a dental professional examine and try to save any teeth that I had left in my mouth, I reviewed a few dental adds on the internet and found that the Downtown Dental Group was my first choice out of about 6. I am so glad that my grand daughter was so insistent, so I made arrangements with Dr. Miyasaki's staff to work on my choppers. I found that Dr. Miyasaki and his staff took a personal interest in providing me with the best dental care that I could ever ask for, especially since my past experiences with the dental profession had been unbearable since I was a kid. Even when I felt uncomfortable with a partial, there was no hesitation on the part of Dr. Miyasaki or his staff to provide me with immediate service to fix the problem. I was also offered a payment plan to do the extensive work that needed to be done, it turned out great and payments were tailored to meet my budget. I would not hesitate to refer my family and friends to experience what I found to be something that I should have done years ago. Thanks to Dr. Miyasaki and his staff for their concerns and excellent work ethics and especially my grand daughter for her insistence for me to take time to attend to something that is so important and give me back my self assurance and confidence.

Dear Dr. Miyasaki & Staff, I just wanted you and your staff to know that coming up in life was very hard for me because I did not have very much. When I had my first child I think I was the happiest man in the world. The day my son was murdered I thought there was nothing else in the world worth living for. When I moved to Hawaii I did not know anyone and I was not sure if I was going to make it here or not. The day I first started coming to your office I was so afraid of the different things that the dentist was going to have to do to me, repairs, fillings, crowns, cleaning, and especially have to give me all the medications, shots. I was not sure if my body could handle. I knew I was scared and embarrassed the way I looked. I have never had no one treat me the way your staff did. From day 1 they have been so polite, respectful, and especially they cared. I have seen and gone to a lot of doctors in my life but none of them have ever come close to being such a wonderful, dedicated, and caring doctor as you. All of you have done so much for me and have treated me with so much respect and professionalism. There are so many things I would like to say to all of you for the way you have made me feel but the main thing is to say from my heart is Thank You for everything.
