My 16 year old daughter was scheduled for 2 cavities to be filled today. The Dr. numbed the right side and not the left, and stated the left side was a “minor fix.” As the Dr. started the procedure on the left side, it was found to be deeper once he got in there. He advised my daughter to raise her hand if it hurt and proceeded to drill. Once my daughter raised her hand, the Dr. ignored that my child was in Pain during the procedure and proceeded with a slowing counting method until completion. Going to the dentist can be a stressful event in itself, to add pain to a procedure, on a child is never okay!!! No-one should have to suffer in pain when it can be prevented, no matter how minor. The Dr. needs to recall from medical school that everyone has different pain levels. And I say this as a RN as well as a mom. As the procedure was complete, I was told that the Dr. went ahead and filled another cavity on the right side, “since he was already in there and she was numb on that side.” While I agree with the rational, I don’t agree with this happening without my consent. Especially since there were co-payments. 30 mins after arriving home, I was called and asked for an additional $55 co-payment (on top of the $149 that i had just paid in the office) for the 3 filling. These matters need to be handled better as I know that law and could easily debate the fee due to the procedure being done without my consent (as it was), as it was not an emergent procedure.

My daughter she is 10 years old has been going there for 3 years. Excellent, extraordinary specialists, but I want to do this review in especial for Dra Constanza she is very profesional, she was very nice today with my daughter, with her teeth extraction procedure, I want to thanks her and also Lina from the front desk she is an angel she was very helpful. Just left the office. The receptionist at the front desk wasn’t that friendly but I digress since I can handle myself but my issue was that my son was told he has cavities. I was told that he would need to be seen on several different occasions, ok I can deal with that, but to be given a appointment in September almost made me laugh because I thought she was joking. She wasn’t. I like the office the male dental assistant was nice the first one, a lady was not, but again I digress. I also made an appointment for my other 3 kids. I really wanted them all to be seen before school so I’ll call one a week in hopes of a sooner appointment. I don’t want my 15 year olds cavities to get worse and he continues to have pain. He got a cleaning today when his complaint was for pain. No resolution for that. But here’s to hoping for some better news. Thanks , Shonna ❤️

What a great team! From the corporate office; Jenny helped me to set up a sedation appointment for my 4 year old daughter & was so polite & loving that she put me at ease with the intense procedure my daughter required. Very happy with the experience we had with the Pembroke Pines office but to be honest, I’m upset because I took my son there for his initial visit and told them my son was having issues with his teeth. We did the xrays and went over everything with the dentist to find out in the end that my son can’t get any of his teeth fixed until the end of April due to the office not having any openings. My son has a few bad teeth that are hurting him and we have to wait 4 months to get them fixed?

They are absolutely amazing. My son was freaking out on the way to his appointment. He needed 2 bathroom breaks and tried to convince me in 100 ways why he shouldn’t go. Mikayla (I hope I spelled It right) was phenomenal. She was so patient and explained every single detail which is a was needed for my son who full of anxiety. The male dentist displayed the same level of excellence and was very detailed as well. Overall great experience.

Dentists (in Pembroke pines) that have seen my children were ok. But... 3 out of 3 experiences have been poor. I took my kids there for a teeth cleaning the first time and filled out the paperwork online. I had everything ready. They lost it. I spent so much time filling everything out again. What a waste of time. 2nd offense, they failed to tell me that I had to complete all the paperwork again.And the front desk people were not that sympathetic. Basically they want updated forms every time you walk into the office (even the same year). The 3rd time, I scheduled an appointment at the previous 6 months, they call the day of, after I confirmed the appointment the day before, to tell me the doctor will not be available and the next appointment is 2 months later. so I give in and reschedule the appointment, only to have them tell me the day before that the 1 pediatric dentist that apparently is required to see my children for insurance reasons just left the practice. so I can go to another office if I want. I was confused because the name of the doctor's office is American PEDIATRIC Dental Group. Surely you hire mostly pediatric dentists. I told them I was done at that point. I don't have time for unreliable, unprofessional companies. Why did I try over and over again? They are really close to my house and I thought it was a group of pediatric dentist... hence catering to children. I also try to give business 2nd chances. The 2nd experience was soooooo bad, just a waste of time. So I thought, let's give it a try again. Now that I know what to expect. But #3, ended all of that. Til this day they continue to call and email me. "We miss you...blah, blah". Interesting. I hope someone has a much better experience but my kids and my insurance will take out money elsewhere.

Like the friendly staff and knowledgeable Dr. my son is a patient of the practice for 6 years now and I only had one bad encounter with a Dr that is no longer part of the Dental association not surprised. From the front desk to the dental assistants they all try to answer any question I have very patiently and always get full explanation of procedures that need to get done and full break down of my dental benefits. I will recommend it to everyone that have a child that never visit a dentist before because they make it very pleasant that your kid will never be scare to go back.

Love this place, you can seat right there with your kids and see whats going on. They make the kids feel comfortable. Dentist comes in and have a one on one with the parents or parent no rush. I have never seen kids always excited to go to the dentist. They love getting new toothbrushes.

First let me start by saying the dentist and hygienist are amazing and wonderful especially Dr Khalid very professional and his assistant With great bedside manners and compassion for kids on the spectrum. However administrative policy towards customers with no insurance is misleading and the office staff gives conflicting information . First when I confirmed the appointment over the phone I explained to the operator that my child will need sedation because he will not cooperate (from previous experience) She insisted on him to be seen in the regular office regardless, because it has been one year And that I will be charged only for the services provided. When we arrived they told us we had no appointment then after going back and forth and a 45 minute wait they squeezed us in but my kid did not cooperate and the cleaning could not be done. I went back to the front desk and informed them of the situation and I was promised a refund Since no work was done which I thought was very good customer service. Boy was I wrong! First ,they came and said that I had to pay full fee regardless, then after complaining they told me that they will charge for consultation and the x-rays only And ended up Discounting only $25 of the self-pay full price. They voided the previous transaction and charged me again with the new amount waited and waiting for the issue to be corrected so Basically for our 2pm appointment we walked out at 5 when they were rushing to close. Not worth it.

My daughter had an emergency with her tooth over the weekend and I took her as soon as we woke up on Monday morning and although the dentist had other kids with their own appointments pending at all times throughout the day they didn’t hesitate not for one second to take my daughter in. They said she would be seen and this was without having to set anyone back or making me wait an eternity or possibly come back another time. I honestly waited less than an hour and I was out with the problem solved for my daughter. They also scheduled a follow up for a week to see how it all progressed and thanks to the knowledgeable staff my daughters tooth is all better now. She got a balloon and stickers which made it much better since she was terrified (she hates doctors). I have been going here for about 4-5 years and will continue to go with my daughter and newest baby girl. Thank you American Pediatric Dental Group in Pembroke Pines for all your help.

I am very disappointed and upset at how the Pembroke Pines office treated me yesterday. My daughter had an appointment at 12:30pm for a filling. As I arrived at her school at 11:30am to pick her up, I was informed the school was on a code red lockdown. I called the Pembroke Pines office about 40 minutes before her appointment to let them know I can’t even get in the school to pick her up and that I would need to reschedule for the same week since I had made this appointment 3 months ago. The employee informed me there was nothing she could do and the next appointment was not until January 2019 because your office was “overbooked” every day until then. I told her this was for a filling, not a cleaning, and the situation at school was beyond anyone’s control. I asked to speak to an office manager to see if they could help and she told me no, that they could put me on the “waiting list” for Wednesday or reschedule her for January. What upsets me most is that your office did not even attempt to help me in my initial call. I also had to coordinate with my daughter’s ortho to get her permanent retainer back on. Her ortho was way more flexible and understanding of the situation and agreed to accommodate us. After your office refused to help me, I told them we would look for another dentist. My daughter’s code red was released around 1pm and I took her to her ortho to get her permanent retainer back on. While I was there (at 2:57pm..3 hours after I initially called), the Pembroke Pines office called and said they could do Friday at 2:40pm. I told them no, we are changing dentists. Being patients of this office for a couple years now, I knew your treatment appointments were booked months in advance. However, for emergency situations beyond our control, you should have been more accommodating. I suggest you get more dentists in the office if you are so “overbooked” every single day until January and get better receptionists that show empathy and not an “oh well” attitude. I did not even want to give one star, but had to.

Please read till the end. My daughter had an appointment today that was cancelled and I didnt know it was cancelled. One young lady that was at the front tried to see if any patients with appointments would cancel. Unfortunately no one cancelled. So she was trying to give me another apt. My daughter who's 5. Heard that she wasnt going to be seen today. She became distraught because she has had pain for alittle while. The other woman that was also in the front. She might be the manager. Nonetheless she saw that my daughter was in pain and stated that she would speak to the doctor. Amist of his full schedule. They quickly got me in. They did xrays. Found the problem. One of her molars had to be pulled and needed a spacer. They were all caring, patient, and understanding. The doctor was amazing with her. I am very greatful for everyone who was there and cared for my daughter.

I’ve been going there for years and have 3 children who are all patients with this office. They have great dentists and staff and the office is kid-friendly, equipped with games and TVs. However, I am seriously considering finding another dentist due to the fact that lately (and my kids go faithfully every six months for their recalls) even with an appointment, the wait is usually too long (no less than an hour)!! Ridiculous!

Dental service provided was great but the financial treatment was not completely honest and not fair. I was not advised when I presented my insurance card that the office did not accept HMOs. I was led to believe that the insurance would be checked to make sure that it was active, but not told that the office would charge my debit card at a price I did not agree to. The price for the regular services (regular checkup and cleaning) I could have gotten at least 60% less at other places. I will dispute the full amount as much as possible and provide more reviews like this if I'm not done right.

The best dental office for kids. The wait time is never long, the staff is very pleasant and show how much they truly care about the patients. It's always clean, even the restroom. I moved and it's a 45 min drive to get there but I still refuse to change. Yes they are always busy and appointments may be difficult to get but that just shows they are doing something good.

Beautiful facility and the staff were very helpful. However the dentist doctor( Dr. Peña) who told me my daughter had cavities was so rude. Too cocky and literally had no bedside manners. If you want a pediatric doctor who truly cares about your needs and your child needs with a heart go somewhere else where they know how to be with young mothers when delivering bad news about my precious daughter. This doctor needs a reality check and know how it is to be a human being when delivering bad news.

Went here for a second opinion. Turns out my son need way more work than previous Dentist initially said. Office staff was great, kid friendly, my son actually enjoy his visit. Dr. Pena scheduled him for oral surgery within 2 days. The procedure was fast and Dr. Pena was very good at explaining the problem and solutions pertaining to my sons surgery. Would recommend to the whole wide world. I also wish they took adult patients :(.

I do love this place!!!! Reception staff are amazing and always go above and beyond. However, my last visit I was not please with the dentist assistant he did not make my daughter comfortable. He tried so many different sizes of jellyfish to keep her mouth open by the time the Dentist came in she was annoyed, mouth was soar. At some point with the larger sizes he was VERY forceful and I didn't like it. When I mention it to him he didn't seem to care. All he wanted was to get the jellyfish to fit. It took the dentist to come in and told him to look for a smaller size because it was to big for her mouth. I was shock because they focus on making sure kids are not afraid to visit the dental office. With all this and having to work on a cavity which, didn't happen by the way she does not want to come back. I was very disappointed this being the first male dental assistant that we had. Don't think I would want another if I can choose.

I am absolutely HIGHLY recommending American Pediatric Dental Group!!! I took my 10 year old stepson, who is on the spectrum for Autism and was quite nervous and my 16 month of daughter. My stepsons' nerves were calmed the minute we entered the waiting room by the awesome game consoles for kids to use. Once we entered he was immediately amazed by the TV on the roof above the exam chair! Dr. Pena and the dental hygienist were FABULOUS!!! They explained everything to him calming any fears he may have had. They were also just as amazing and gentle with my 16 month old daughter! I could not be any happier and am so happy I found the BEST dentist for my kids. :-)

So, this is my 1st visit here for my son...and so far I am thoroughly impressed! From the moment you walk in the door, you are greeted by cheerful staff. The waiting room is small, but comfortable. We were called back in less than 5 minutes of our appointment time (very impressive), at which time the office manager came in and personally greeted and went over office policies and procedures. Promptly following his overview, the assistant came in and did everything necessary before the doctor came in. All the staff was really friendly and helpful. The facility is state of the art and very welcoming for children. Unfortunately, so many times I have visited dentist/doctor offices that were run down, not appealing and with less than friendly staff and to me it is because these offices mostly dealt with state health insurance. This office is quite the opposite and I think I have found the right dental home for my son!

I brought my son today 10/19/2018 to be treated in the sedation center at Pembroke Pines. I have no words to express my satisfaction with the whole experience. My dear son was very anxious and I was a little skeptical that they would be able to treat him because my son was challenging to say the least. From the moment I checked in, the front office assistants were so professional and courteous that I felt I was in the right place. Unfortunately I do not know her name but she was in the morning shift. Very professional. We waited in a kid friendly area with Xbox consoles for the kiddos! My son loved it! Later I met the anesthesiologist Dr. Huda and he checked my son’s lungs (because he was a little congested) and advised me the best and safest option considering his condition. I felt so reassured that my son would be in great hands by the way he talked to me having my son’s safety as first concern. After meeting Dr. Huda my son was brought to a very comfortable room with a bed and a very cute Minions blanket lol and tv where my son would be administered his anesthesia. We were introduced to the dentist Dr. Shasan William Liou who was so welcoming and caring that it was impossible not to trust. He gained my son’s trust which is very important in the success of the whole process! The whole staff was completely friendly and kind. My son had his teeth fixed and did not feel a thing! He actually said he thought he was dreaming! For me as a mom that was a miracle knowing my son’s dental anxiety. Unforgettable experience! So I would definitely recommend this place to everyone who wants to have a smooth, professional and efficient experience! Thanks to everyone at American Pediatric Dental Group!

Hi! We loved everything but fluoride treatment should be discussed with parents beforehand. It was applied to my kid’s teeth without me approving it first. Fluoride is a neurotoxin and not everyone wants to add it to their dental services. Other than that, great service.

It's a very good place for kids, the dentists are very professional and friendly, the staff is nice too, appointments are to far ( they're busy) but the cancellation wait helps. I want to recognize the effort that Juanita, rose mary, Michelle are doing for parents and patients. They are good help.

My son is very afraid of dentist but from the moment he walked in he felt calm and when he sat in the chair for his appointment the doctor made him feel happy and made him laugh. Didn’t have to hold his hand or tell him to keep calm the doctor took care of everything. So happy.

I gave this place 4 stars instead of 5 because of how hard it is to make a reservation. They are always booked. But it is a super kid friendly place and the staff are nice. Play Station in the lobby and tv screens on the ceiling while getting a cleaning.... its pretty well thought out.

I have been bringing our child to this office for several years now. It's always the same issues, the front desk girls have an attitude and the wait is long, but I had always put up with everything and driven from the beach to Pembroke Pines all because of Dr. Peña, who is absolutely wonderful. The problems are several, but the most recent one is just the last straw for me. My child was seen on July 19th around 3pm for exam and cleaning. For the last year we have had to see a different dentist every time, since we were told that Dr. Peña is now solely doing sedations and not any other procedures. The dentist was very nice and knowledgable, that wasn't the problem. The problem was we needed two fillings and they told me my child would have to wait two whole months for the next available appointment. Well, that's STILL not the reason I will never return to this office or any of their other offices. We were given an appointment for next week, September 25th at 11am. That's OVER a two month wait to get cavities filled! Well, guess what? A couple of days ago they left a voicemail saying they were CANCELING the appointment because the dentist would not be in on that day. They said I needed to call to reschedule for the cavities to be filled. Another delay after we've already been made to wait an unreasonable amount of time for an 11 year old child to have cavities filled? Cavities grow and get worse the longer you wait, and already having a lot of sensitivity. No thanks, I won't ever be back. Please don't bother asking me to call or e-mail to discuss anything. I've given you enough details for you to be able to verify that this is a legitimate patient review. Today is Friday and I have already found a new dentist... and they will be seeing my child on Monday!

Although the staff is very nice, they triple book appointments. There’s not even standing room in the lobby & you have to wait over 1.5 hours to be seen. Ridiculous.

Absolutely DISGUSTING! My kids have been coming here for 8 YEARS and after today I do NOT recommend them to ANYONE My 4 year old autistic son had a melt down. Knowing his signs and triggers I knew it was coming so I rushed him to bathroom to have his melt down privately One of the office staff knocked on the door and had the nerves to tell me " the noise is disruptive you have to take him outside the office" It is APPALLING because when we walked in there were 2 boys who were making so much noise playing the video game it sounded like an arcade and regular business couldn't be conducted at the reception counter BUT my son with a DIAGNOSIS OF AUTISM is DISRUPTIVE?!?!?!!?!

But my daughter loved coming here cause she felt as if she got a prize at the end of her visit for coming she gets a toothbrush and toothpaste but I guess they did away with that seeming it was too costly for the company. Visits are no problem but god forbid if you leave the office and you need them to transfer your child's records and x-rays. I have been in complete hell with this office. They are completely incompetent to get anything done. I have requested for my sons records to be sent to his new dentist and a copy to myself repeatedly for over 2 weeks now and either I can't get through the office and being transferred to the corporate office who can't help in this matter or they claim they have sent it. Which neither myself nor my sons new dental office have received it. Since they are unable to complete such a simple I faxed over the release of records form along with a State Health Form that needs to be completed in order to register my son for school and of course that is a hassle even that they cannot complete in a timely manner. It is Wednesday and my sons school starts Monday and I have yet been able to register him because their inability to complete 1 simple requests. Its been 13 days since my initial request and I have yet to receive ANYTHING!!! SO RIDICULOUS. I have never experienced in my life with any medical/dentist office. I can't wait for this nightmare to be over.

If I could leave less than one star I would. Let me get to the complaint...my son had an appointment today for a filling, an appointment that was made in August because that was the soonest available. Okay, that was annoying, but I understood, and booked it. Fast forward to today, the day of the appointment...my appointment was for 3:00 pm. At about 1:50 pm I realized I would probably be late so I called to see if they could push back my appointment or reschedule. The woman on the phone informed me that 3:15 was the absolute latest they could take me and that if I wanted to reschedule the appointment would be for May! For the sake of my son’s teeth and the growing cavities, I told her I’d fight my way through traffic and make it, because there is no way I’d wait until May. Well, I made it at 3:11pm after wrestling through intense after school traffic, from Sunny Isles to Pembroke Pines. And then guess what?!?! They proceed to inform me that they can’t see my son because the power went out earlier in the day and no machines were working, however, everything was functioning at that moment from the look of things. But that’s not what made things incredibly unprofessional, it was the fact they didn’t call to inform their patients. When I told her I called to reschedule at 1:50 and nobody told me anything she said it was because the power went out at 2pm. So it had been over an hour and they did not call me or the other parent that was just as upset as me at the office. She then tells me there’s an appointment tomorrow at 9:30am. I told her I’d take the 9:30 am appointment, very inconvenient, but again, all for the sake of his teeth. However, the disappointments don’t end there, turns out that his dental work to fill the cavities would have to be split into 2 appointments. And guess until when I’d have to wait for the second appointment? February. Anyhow, I was very disappointed with the way the power outage and appointments were handled. I cancelled all the appointments and decided to look for a different dentist.

They seemed knowledgeable enough the first visit, but I later found out that they performed dental work that was not covered by his insurance when they assured me that it was. Also, they recommended my son undergo sedation in their office but it would cost me $260 because they're not approved or certified to perform the sedation in that facility!! They absolutely refused to refer him to the hospital too even after I assured them I was not allowing them to do it because they were not approved and it's not safe there...she assured me it would be fine and offered no other alternative. Find a dentist with reliable hospital affiliation instead just in case :)

I was happy the first time I took my daughters there, the dentist was great. However, the next 3 visits have been a disaster. Cleaning I guess was ok, but the doctors only have come basically to say hi to my daughters. My two daughters have cavities and they gave me the appointment for filling until MAY!! My daughter now is on pain, so I contacted them. Their answer was that they do not have any appointments before May! After explaining the situation they said that they could give me an emergency visit, but only for the doctor to evaluate my daughter and other possible treatments. However, they probably wouldn't be able to proceed with the fillings since they were so busy.... How is that supposed to help a baby who is crying due to pain? She was there a month ago (February 2019) and they were the ones who recommended the fillings. What else do they have to evaluate?

Visit was good. Most dental office that cater to kids provide care bags when they leave. I noticed this office did not provide this incentive for their kids. The girls were looking forward to that. Aside from that, the visit was ok. Wait time today was not bad. 30 mi nutes wait to be seen after we checked in.

I came for my daughter appointment today and then was told I don’t have an appointment if they didn’t confirm it! Remind you they made the appointment for me and gave me an appointment card! I’m a very busy mom of 3 so I can’t remember all my kids appointment. But luckily my phone reminded me yesterday. I showed up to the full office and was told sorry but you don’t have an appointment! Waited couple months for my daughter fillings. they over booked so many kids for today so they cancel which ever appointment they choose. I will not be coming back to this place even if it’s the last dentist office in the world. They received one star but in reality it should have been -100.

You advertise yourselves as being able to care for the special needs population. The Pines location is clearly not capable of this. Today was our third visit to this location. None of our visit have been a really positive experience, but today was absolutely horrible and a waste of my time. I brought my son in for a cleaning. The Dentist refused to assist us due to my son not being able to have x-rays done (What medical professional would insist to x-ray a child who's rocking back-and-forth is beyond me). I have now been referred to their sedation clinic. Which will cost me out of pocket. You shouldn’t advertise as being able to assist the special needs population, when you're clearly not capable. I consider today’s experience as discriminatory towards people with special needs and I will not be using any of your facilities going forward. Furthermore, I will be sure to share my experience with other parents of special needs children.
