The best in the western south Florida area. Went there for dental exam and cleaning for my dog. They have the best equipment and know-how in the area, though they do price things with this in mind. Highly recommend going there with dental insurance, because they are multiple times pricier than other local places that do dental xrays. Though, APD is likely more complete. For example, they do chest x rays before anesthesia. Probably other fancy medical jargon also that I wouldn't properly explain.
Facility is well kept, modern, and clean. Very high traffic with patients though, as they do general care as well. They have Groupon vouchers for cheap annuals, and some puppy program, which seem to generate high traffic volume. I wasn't fully accustomed to that, as my general care vet intentionally spaces out her appointments so things never get hectic over there. They have the equipment at APD though, so it's understandable that they accommodate the demand.
The staff were all friendly. Got some good insight from the previous anesthetic exam regarding recommendation to remove hairs from under the gumline. Doctors are all knowledgeable, as they do this almost everyday.
You don't get to remain near your dog up until the anesthesia. I'm not a doctor, but I would think that nervous dogs might have increased risk for complications arising with the stress of not being with their owner for hours, in an unfamiliar building. At my primary care vet, the whole procedure (without x rays) took a few hours, and we were home by noon. At APD, we were there for over 9 hours. Granted, they have a lot more client traffic, and the time isn't really a concern.
They did a good job cleaning and did something most offices don't, which is provide a 6 month gum sealant (sanos), which helps keep the gums clean.
Overall though, I would recommend this place for anyone with health insurance (or if they have lots of $$). I'll probably go here from now on, for my dogs cleanings, might as well with the insurance covering 90% of the costs, might as well make use of that and take up the fanciest facility in the area. The only other AVDC member I had researched a bit in the area is Dr. Tiffany Brown in the Fort Lauderdale area. She works by referral only, for advanced treatments only. This didn't fit my use case, so I went with APD for their general care dentistry
