Due to bad experiences at my prior Dentist, I neglected my teeth for over 25 years. I called Emmi Dental, as my bottom teeth felt loose. I told them of my fears, and that I also have psoriatic arthritis and Fibromyalgia, which causes chronic pain. Any little bit of pain can cause me to feel it 3x over. Frustrating. My hygienist, Emily, and Dr Dougherty are PHENOMENAL!! They take great care of me, make me comfortable, and my teeth are great!! I never thought I would enjoy going to the dentist~~~I do!!! There was one staff member that really did seem like she just didn’t want to do anything for me. She kept saying “we can’t do that for you.” Or “have you called another dentist to see if they can do it ?” When prior to the appointment other people were telling me that it was very doable. And than dr emmi came in and said that he could do it. And he asked her to take impressions. And she made this face like she didn’t want to do it for me. So it was really annoying and upsetting. Just because I really got my hopes up when she said they couldn’t help.

My last dental appointment went better than I thought it would. Stephanie was my hygentist and was very sweet. I asked for Dr. Emmi to speak to me about the problems I am facing with my mouth. He understood where I was coming from and that I was not in a financial position to have a lot of dental procedures done. Great experience. Professional staff. Basically no wait time. I hadn't been to the dentist in several years and was very nervous, especially since I have chronic health issues which make avoiding the dentist a really bad idea. It was a calming and professional atmosphere with an extremely knowledgeable hygienist. At one point I thought, "oh this must be the actual dentist cleaning my teeth." But then the dentist came in at the end and did the exam and basically confirmed everything the hygienist had told me. Or maybe they were both dentists. Either way, a much more knowledgeable person was cleaning my teeth than I've had anywhere else. I actually did have some mild gum disease which was disappointing but not totally unexpected. They didn't shame me for it but they were very clear and real with me about what I needed to change to return my gums to good health. The dentist was very understanding with clear communication and great bedside manner (not sure if that's a dentist thing but im basically a professional patient and I know good bedside manner when I see it). The hygeinist was very gentle with my teeth. It wasn't the most pleasant-feeling cleaning ever, but surprisingly comfortable, especially considering my gum disease. I actually got a little sleepy which is impressive because I was extremely anxious going in. I am not at all nervous about going back. I will definitely be recommending them.

On my last visit the technician was able to remove subtle stains on my lower front teeth that had been there for years using a new cleaning device. She also found signs of mouth cancer and using a high tech x-ray they were able to determine it was an embedded metal fragment from many years ago causing discoloration. Friendly, well trained staff and the latest technology.

Great experience. Professional staff. Basically no wait time. I hadn't been to the dentist in several years and was very nervous, especially since I have chronic health issues which make avoiding the dentist a really bad idea. It was a calming and professional atmosphere with an extremely knowledgeable hygienist. At one point I thought, "oh this must be the actual dentist cleaning my teeth." But then the dentist came in at the end and did the exam and basically confirmed everything the hygienist had told me. Or maybe they were both dentists. Either way, a much more knowledgeable person was cleaning my teeth than I've had anywhere else. I actually did have some mild gum disease which was disappointing but not totally unexpected. They didn't shame me for it but they were very clear and real with me about what I needed to change to return my gums to good health. The dentist was very understanding with clear communication and great bedside manner (not sure if that's a dentist thing but im basically a professional patient and I know good bedside manner when I see it). The hygeinist was very gentle with my teeth. It wasn't the most pleasant-feeling cleaning ever, but surprisingly comfortable, especially considering my gum disease. I actually got a little sleepy which is impressive because I was extremely anxious going in. I am not at all nervous about going back. I will definitely be recommending them.

Having been a patient at Smile Solutions for over a dozen years I can easily state this has been the best dental care I have received anywhere over the past 6 decades. This is truly honest dentistry with the highest standards of care. Lauri D. is the best dental hygienist I’ve ever had and Dr. Emmi came highly recommended by oral-maxillofacial surgeons at Christiana Hospital. He is so thorough, patient, and friendly everyone is at ease and happy there. Prior to becoming their patient I had experienced a few dentists in the past who stated I needed a couple different expensive procedures. Second opinions proved them wrong and they lost me as a patient. With Dr. Emmi everything has been treated conservatively initially and clearly shown necessary by diagnostic results. This is an honest to goodness professional office you can trust wholeheartedly to take care of anything you need and want.
