I have been with Vaughn Family Dentistry for over 5 years now. After having many experiences with different dentists and dentists offices over the years that vary widely in terms of both quality and staff care, Vaugn Family Dentistry is probably the best by a mile. The offices are neat and new, the equipment is modern, and the staff is well trained, and polite. Luca has been taking care of my cleanings, and she is just terrific. Dr. Vaughn himself has been checking me over, and is always at a smile, and warm greeting. I've had a very healthy mouth in general with only routine cleanings and a few fillings until recently, where I had the most painful toothache imaginable, like 9 out of 10 pain, that erupted into a full blown abscess over the New Years holiday. Even though the staff was out, I received care and attention from the on call Dr. who provided me with a prescription until I could get into the office on Monday. Unfortunately I learned that my problem was due to a fractured tooth and would need a root canal which I had never had before. Normally I don't get too anxious about fillings and routine care, but a root canal... this was going to be difficult for me. I let Dr. Vaughn know of my worries and anxiety over the procedure.. , and he absolutely put me at ease for the procedure. (A little NoX gas helped a lot ;) ) The bigger problem was that it was not clear that the tooth could be saved because there were in fact 3 fractures on my #19 molar, likely due to stress and grinding teeth. We discussed the options, and in his opinion, and 20 years of experience seeing similar situations, he strongly suggested we try to save the tooth. On Tuesday I came in for the procedure, and we got about half way through, but he discovered while drilling the fracture was just too deep going all the way to the root, thereby increasing the risk of future failure and or infection. Rather than continue, and have me incur the expense of the root canal, we stopped and scheduled the extraction immediately which took place that same day at the Oral Surgery center across the street. While I was sad at loosing a tooth, it was without question the right choice to make. Dr. Vaughn showed me the pictures at high resolution, so I could clearly see what he was seeing, and fully agreed with his assessment. Another dentist might have continued, and charged me for the work, but Dr. Vaughn did not. He clearly prioritizes his patients care over costs, which I greatly appreciate, especially after having some rather unfortunate experiences with other dentists who push you to have work done that you do not actually need. Dr. Vaughn's office called me later that day to see how I was doing, which was a lot better given the pain I had incurred the previous weekend. After a few months of healing, I'll be looking forward to replacing the tooth, and will be a *lot* more careful about clenching, and will be wearing my mouth guard routinely. Hopefully I'll be back to the usual cleanings and routine work from here for a while, but I can confidently say that I was in the best care out there, and would recommend them highly if you're looking for a Dentist in the Trumbull, Monroe, Shelton area for you or your kids.

My entire family switched to Dr. Vaughn this year - my children (ages 5 and 3) think that going to the dentist is an absolute treat! Dr. Vaughn and his staff are wonderful with children - they explain what they are doing, why dental hygiene is important, and give them some fun prizes at the end which they look forward to, as well. I was very pleased with my own cleaning, and care as well. I have found the office hours to be convenient as well. What made this office and their care "five star" for me was when my mom was visiting and had a crown fall out. Dr. Vaughn saw her the next morning at 7 am. He gave her the relief that she could get temporarily, and guidance on next steps for when she returned home. Because it was a consultation, he did not charge her. I was floored by this experience, and a healthcare professional going the extra mile.

CONSUMER BEWARE!!!! I went to this dentist practice who was highly recommended by a family member to inquire about a dental implant. I decided to go with them as their prices were competitive and the doctor in which I was seeing (Dr. Ghandi) had a very high success rate. What I was not informed about is that this doctor had his own practice in NY and did not regularly come in to the office to provide consistent and quality patient care. I was told the implant would take anywhere from 6 months to 10 max in order to ensure a successful process. What happened next is horrific. Dr. Ghandi stopped coming consistently as his business practice in NY took off. My temporary's which are located in the front of my mouth would routinely fall out which was highly distressing especially during business events. Of course this caused me much concern and when I expressed my dissatisfaction and concern to the dentist I was met with resistance from the front office staff who then was supported by this practices owner Dr. Bryan Vaughn. Dr. Vaughn comes off as a caring provider and owner but in fact is a snake who just wants to have your insurance business and take your money. He does not care about the well being of his patients and I would not send my black lab to his practice for dental work! Again, consumer beware! Anyone who will take on such an in-depth and costly task and not see it to the end to then get offended when you become concerned and refuse to help with a feasible treatment plan is a terrible medical provider and practice. The work of Dr. Ghandi and Dr. Vaughn reflects both on their ethics, business practice and belief in quality patient care!

I have been to several different dentists over the years and had plenty of bad experiences - to the point I stopped going. Issues finally started to occur and my wife finally got me to go where she had been going - Vaughn Family Dentistry. I was very pleasantly surprised! I had an initial evaluation and they came up with a plan for fixing all my issues over the next year or so. Throughout the entire process, there was no judgement, lecturing, or scare tactics, only advice and answers to my questions. I'm now over a year in to a healthy mouth and am always happy to schedule my next appointment. No pain and no hesitation to recommend them to my family and friends. I had an incredible fear of dentist due to past experiences, but an intense incorrectly done cavity fill had me searching for a new dentist. Dr. Vaughn saw me immediately and was beyond patient with easing my fears. Incompetent receptionists! What is UP with them?! Booked an appointment 2 months in advance, filled out massive amount of paperwork including employer info, drivers license info, you know... stuff that a dentist office shouldn't need. Nevertheless, we drove ALL THE WAY from East Haven early on a Saturday morning, to be told "sorry, we were confused and booked you both in for only an exam and X-rays. We don't have time to do your cleanings." What kind of dentist just ASSUMES what people want?? If they were confused about what we booked, they should've clarified. Wow. What a waste of time! We were stuck in traffic all the way back from Trumbull too! Now our teeth have to wait another several months so we can get a Saturday appointment somewhere else! Always clarify what you're booking with this very incompetent staff! Have them reiterate it to you! Not that it's the patients job to condescend the staff to make sure they are understanding... but I CLEARLY booked 2 CLEANINGS! I always say cleaning, I never use the word "exam" to book appointments. It sounds creepy, I hate that word so I KNOW I didn't say that. Why the heck did they book us in for 2 X-RAYS and exams ONLY??? We didn't even want X-rays!! Then I was polite and said, "ok well we don't even need X-rays, we both just had them 6 months ago.", you know hoping that they could get rid of the xray and exam they booked for us, and spend our slotted time doing the cleanings, which we wanted. A very rude, condescending lady popped out of nowhere and said, "we cannot do exams without X-rays!" They either wanted us to get an extra dose of radiation or make the dentist we switched from, go through the hassle of sending them our X-rays. Ridiculous! They demand X-rays and screw up people's appointments. This was BEYOND an inconvenience.

Do not go to this practice. Nothing but troubles. The receptionists sometimes book your appointments if you are lucky. My son had a temporary crown which popped off within hours. Unqualified assistants do the work not the dentist. Booked a cleaning for my son in the city many months ago for Saturday. Called to confirm and say we were running a bit late. We will be there he is coming from the city traveling we will definitely be there. After traveling 3 hours we arrive and the rude receptionist Samantha says the hygienist left at 2:05 for our 2:00 appointment. Dismisses us. After confirming we’d be a bit late and traveling we would definitely be there. So very rude. The other hygienist heard we were upset with such treatment and inconvenience knew this was wrong came out and said he’d give my son a partial cleaning. Don’t do us any favors. Last straw. So very unprofessional, unacceptable big waste of time and effort. They can’t wait to get out of the office. Don’t care at all about patients or results. My father was an orthodontist my mother a hygienist. I know what a professional office looks like. This is not it. Sloppy unaccountably rude and unprofessional. Sloppy work. Will not go back. Never been treated so poorly. Unbelievable.

I've always dreaded the dentist until I went to Dr. Vaughn Family Dentistry. For years, my co-workers raved about how great his practice is and how comfortable they make you feel. Not only were my co-workers right about this place, I also got my son to love the dentist. My son needed a root-canal and as my son would it put it “that wasn't bad at all mom. I want to continue to come to this place”. Every 6 months my son and I are there for our cleaning and check-up. We absolutely love the state of the art equipment and technology they use. It’s clean and welcoming. I don’t mind traveling from Milford to Trumbull for Dr. Vaughn. Just give him one visit and I guarantee you’ll switch dentists.

This had been my best dental experience. I had a 6 month cleaning, x ray, and dental checkup and everything was done thoroughly. I got a very useful lesson on flossing and why the traditional floss is better than the floss sticks. The dentist and hygienist were very engaging.

Vaughn family dentistry is the best dentist to go to. They make you feel right at ease. I had had some Orthodontist work done a few years ago and I was terrified to return to the dentist after the experience I had at the Orthodontist. I went in for a cleaning and needed some extra work done because it had been so long. I never felt a thing, the hygienist kept me comfortable, and the helped me over come my fear. Vaughn Family Dentistry has got to be the best dentist office around. I'm not even from the area and I head out there for my dental procedures. The hygienists I've seen were so gentle that I was surprised to hear the words, 'you're all done' when they finished. I've gotten very deep fillings filled there and all of my procedures were excellent. The Doctors are very aware and cognizant of people's fears and sensitivities. Not only are they upstanding dentists and hygienists, but these wonderful people participate in an anual free-dentistry day for the public who (like me) don't have insurance. It's an amazing service to the community and proves that they really do care. It can be a long day, but they do a stellar job of keeping the crowds happy while we wait to see the doctor. The wait is a small price to pay for what they offer. I'm sure the staff is tem times more weary than the patients, so I applaud them. If you're in the Trumbull area, make them your dentist. Even if you're a few towns away, I still recommend them.

I LOVE Dr. Vaughn!! I have been to a lot of dentists in my life. I am 28 & I haven't been comfortable with one since I was about 5. They ALL used to tell at me because I have very bad, "soft" teeth. Dr. Vaughn understands that I do everything I can, but it's not my fault. I used to HATE going to the dentist but now I don't! The entire staff is AWESOME! They are all very nice and very competent. When I call the office I never hear, "I don't know". they always seems to know who I am because they are amazing like that. If you refer anybody to Dr Vaughan Family Dentistry you and your referral both get $100 credit on your account. I can't say enough amazing things about them. They have always been willing to work with me as far as billing goes. And Dr. Vaughn and the person in the room with him when he is working on you just want to make sure you are comfortable. They do NOT you to be in ANY pain at all, ever! They stop and do whatever they have to do and wait as Long as they need to to make sure that when they start again that you don't feel any pain. I do not have any health insurance, so I found a discount program that Dr. Vaughn takes because I wasn't willing to switch to a new dentist. So if you are looking for a new dentist, and your are sscared, look no further, Vaughn family dentistry is the place to go!

I haven't been to the dentist in years out of fear. My previous dental experiences consisted of lots of pain. The facility is beautiful, spotless and has all the bells and whistles. The lady who x-rayed my teeth explained everything as she went. I cannot remember her name but she was the best!! My hygienist was Helen and she put my fears at ease and did an amazing job. So expensive and pretty sure they're not honest about the work you need done! After charging $250 for a cleaning and basic X-rays, they estimated that I needed $1,300 with of work. Said I had 3 cavities and needed 4 scalings. They also said that I needed to pay half upfront to even make the appointment. So, no thanks. I went somewhere else, where they only charged me $130 for a deep cleaning and X-rays. They said I didn't even need scalings and I should just keep up with cleanings every 4 months. Also....they said I didn't have any cavities, just a few areas to watch but no fillings needed!! Yes, they have a BEAUTIFUL office and super fancy equipment, but they're way overcharging people just so they can have a granite counter for the receptionist :/

Excellent experience at Vaughn's Family Dentistry. Dr. Vaughn and Dr. Alvarez took a great care of me, I had to have an emergency root canal done. I was able to get in and have the treatment the same day. The Doctors are fantastic and the staff is caring and accommodating. I will definitely go back again and will recommend them to everyone. Give him 2 thumbs up! I was looking for a dentist and found Vaughn Family Dentistry, for my grandson Ethan which his only 4 years old and was scary of the doctors and didn't know how he was going to react. I couldn't be happier with the choice I made for him . The environment is so warm and friendly and very patience with the kids with that's a big plus! All the technology was is to date. The employees are extremely nice and generous and caring. I would highly recommend the Dentist to any one that ask my for a dentist! Keep up the good work!

I have been going to Dr. Vaughn's practice for two years, so I think this review comes with some history. The hygienist that has been doing my cleanings has been giving me some advice to help improve oral health. I took her advice. I have had gum issues for years. With her cleanings and advice, I have not had gum issues. Best, at least from my perspective, when she performs the cleaning process, it does NOT hurt. For the first time in years I am not going to a periodontist. As for Dr. Vaughn, I have years of bad teeth. He straightened out all of the issues. I needed a bridge. He did some work on the two adjoining teeth today and the novocaine is now worn off. The ground down two teeth and installed a temporary bridge. ABSOLUTELY NO PAIN IN THE PROCEDURE. Dr. Vaughn cares about patient comfort and clearly cares about correct procedures. I have been going to him for two years. My teeth are in great shape. And despite my need to have some pretty radical procedures, Dr. Vaugh and Dr. Alvarez DO NOT HURT when they are doing their work. If you are thinking about going to the dentist and you are used to discomfort, pain and stress while you're in the chair, you will only find a lack of pain, no discomfort during the procedure and a full staff that understands that dental patients might be a little up tight about the entire thing. I can't say enough good things about Vaughn Family Dentistry. They are my only choice in dentistry from here on. I am sure that if you go to this dental practice, you'll go back for years. It is the clean and obvious choice.

Their billing practices are completely unethical. You can't give someone an estimate for services than have the ACTUAL BILL be 400x's more than the estimate. Also finding the office itself is like a bad scavenger hunt.

I've gone through many reviews of other people and only wish I can say the same for myself. I came to Vaughn dentistry specifically for a better smile but haven't gotten. There are so many options out there however all I get from this people is "run arounds" and roads that led to nowhere. They stated I needed "Fillings" and scaling prior to implants which I completed. They finally recommended seeing an orthodontists for braces whom I saw. I have been complying to avoid obstacles towards my goal. Strangely, i still come for routine cleaning and No follow ups or anyone asking how my primary objective is going, all they care about is how best to eat your money. Long story short, I'm unable to achieve what I came to Vaughn dentistry seeking yet they listed many options and testimonies on their website on how they help people achieve their best smile. Too bad you guys make some of your patients feel abandoned. They simply do not care guys. I would love to give 5 stars only to Dr Chen - the pediatric dentist cos my kids look forward to their routine cleaning, thanks to his kind gestures and friendliness. I'm giving our overall experience a 2 star considering my own minus 3 star experience.

Vaughn Family Dentistry is the very best in dental care. I highly recommend them! I have had a big fear of going to the dentist and would avoid it in the past as much as I possibly could. After coming to Vaughn Family Dentistry, they worked hard to help me feel as comfortable and confident in them as possible. I have been treated with respect, compassion, and understanding. Procedures have been explained to me in a way I can understand and feel comfortable with. Every staff member and dentist here goes over and above and exceeds any expectations I have. The facility is very clean and up scale. Beautiful Building. All staff are very friendly, and knowledgeable, and always there to help in any way possible. They also have long hours to try and accommodate everyone's lifestyles and schedules. In the case of a emergency or a last minute dental issue, they work to get their patients in as soon as possible. That is great and is something that puts me at ease knowing that my dentist is truly there for me and cares. The office is always are doing charity work and donating to people in need whether it is to our soldiers, kids in need, and more! They even hold an annual event in June for people that need dental care without insurance. They hold special events for different times of the year, and they even have a great referral program that can earn both you and a friend money off both your visits! Vaughn Family Dentistry is very involved with their patients, and the community, and this is evident through all they do. I am so happy to be apart of this amazing dental community and they have surely helped me through a lot of fears. Best Dentist I have ever been to by far! I find that Dr. Vaugh takes time to explain all the procedures. He explains all the pros and cons of the treatment so that I can make my own judgment. His staff is also extremely helpful. Dr. Vaughn has a great rapport with his assistant and hygienist and they work very well together. He is very caring and understanding towards my child during our visit. My son was very scared of dentists to begin with, but he took his time to talk to him through the procedures and calm him down. He never talked down to the kids - neither did he apply pressure if they were not ready for the procedure. I will always recommend him to my family and friends! Great work Dr Vaughn! My family receives nothing short of amazing care at Dr. Vaughn's. My 13 got her first cavity filled this week and it couldn't have gone more smoothly. She was petrified but Dr. Vaughn was more than patient with her making sure he went at her pace asking constantly if she was ok. His assistant even held her hand! Christina was very patient with my mother in regards to insurance information and answered all questions that my mother had about the appointment. Every single time I’ve gone, they are all smiling and greeting me by name. They are veryyyy gentle and extremely clean. The best part is they don’t try to charge you for things that you don’t need. They are honest and will work with you to make sure you get the care needed nothing more. They also have an amazingly flexible schedule which I love. Definitely the best dentist office around!

Le's face it NO ONE likes going to the dentist... however, after my very first visit with Dr. Vaughn, that all changed! I actually look forward to my appointments. I have had multiple procedures done on my teeth and each time they make sure I am never in any pain and that I come out of it with the best results. I love it here! They are really friendly, offices are very clean, bright and welcoming. I was scheduled for a cleaning when I was 10wks pregnant with twins and when I went, Dr. Vaughn advised not to do the cleaning until after the twins were born. I had no idea that you weren't supposed to get your teeth cleaned and appreciated the honesty and knowledge about it.

Highly expensive!!!!!. They charged me $1,500.00..for a deep cleaning.. And that was only for one side of my mouth!..and I had to get both sides done which would be $3,000!!...I found a much better dentist who did the same procedure for only $700.00 for the whole thing!!
