I've had plenty of dental work in the past but I believe that I've never had a more thorough exam as the one I had with Dr. Preece! I'm so impressed! I found everyone from Tammy who greeted me to Emily who cleaned my teeth to be exceptional and very professional! We were in need of a dentist after ours retired, I'm so happy we (my family) found this office. I strongly recommend Dr. Preece and his entire office if you are in need of a dentist! They were very thorough as I had some stains (coffee drinker) on a few teeth and Emily actually used a different instrument to make sure she removed all the stains. I was thrilled she did that. They messed up my insurance and did 3 fillings beyond what my insurance would cover for the year. When they found the error it was "you think you're shocked, we were really surprised too!" Like the $800 bill I received is somehow more upsetting to them then it was to me. Carelessness caused the issue, then after they fact they acted like it was a hardship for them instead of me. Ended up paying the whole bill and never went back. When you go to a dentist you want to go to a dentist office that has the ability to pay attention to detail - which is not this one!

I had been looking for a good dentist in Anchorage for several years. My first experience with Dr. Preece was in an urgent care need as I had broken a molar. Dr. Preece stayed late to help me with my tooth the same day i called to make an appointment. Dr. Preece has a true passion for what he does and is the best dentist I have seen in Anchorage. The care I received prompted me to make appointments for a cleaning and examination. From the moment I walked in the door, Dr. Preece and his staff made me feel very comfortable. Not something I was expecting when I walked into a new dentist office. I had recently had back surgery and they were more than accommodating to make sure I was comfortable in that chair. Offering me a pillow, blankets and even turned on a massage feature in the chair. Through the exam and cleaning I was continually asked if I was doing OK, if I needed to move or if there was anything else they could do to make me more comfortable. Dr. Preece even made time to fix a cavity in the same visit. I'm also very hard to numb up. They took the extra time to make sure that my tooth was completely numb. I have found that most dentists don't take the time and just start drilling but not DR Preece. He was very concerned that I didn't feel any pain. I would recommend him to anyone and I have already started recommending him to my friends. I am very blessed that I found this dental practice. Thank you very much to DR Preece and his staff for taking very good care of me .

Dr Preece fixed, very last minute, a crownI broke in half. His staff took an X-ray as soon as I showed up, very unexpectedly, to the office. He came in minutes later to remove the rest of the crown and set up a game plan to come in later that evening to put on a temporary. He did this one other time when my husbands very old crown fell off, Dr Preece complimented the original dentists work and re glued the old crown back on because that was all that needed to be done. This was all on his day off! Thank you Dr Preece, you are a huge asset to our community!

Rather, let me know of where problem areas where and I decided what needed done from there! He was extremely gentle when it came to administering general anesthesia… That is hard to find! ... The checkup and overall exam was probably the most thorough and meticulous one I've ever had. Thanks Dr. Preece! Although I'm not a fan of multiple X-Rays, I do understand the need for them. The ones taken today were somewhat different than those I've had in the past. The plastic cover over the bite-wing type film was strange...mostly from having what appeared to be a plastic wrapper in my mouth. I know these are never comfortable...regardless of the way the film is protected however. The 360 X-Ray was something I have never experienced...and provided an interesting overview of my teeth! Emily was very thorough, also, and worked hard removing several years worth of plaque. The water jet cleaning reminded me a bit of high pressure washes on equipment and vehicles/boats/planes! I did find that the water-removal system, at times, didn't seem to work as well as it should have...and this made it a bit hard to breathe. Possibly this was due to the slightly inverted position I was in? Emily did respond quickly when she sensed I was having some discomfort with this. Another thing I noticed, that may possibly be mitigated in some way, was the occasional high pitch from the water jet apparatus. It reminded me too much of drills used in addressing cavities...which is not a pleasant sound/memory for me. I wonder if someone makes a silencer for this (and drills) or has an ear adapter that keeps removes this pitch? Thanks for the opportunity to comment!

The office staff were very pleasant. I have had bad experiences in the past with dentists. So my anxiety level was fairly high. Dr. Preece was very thorough and I will definitely be seeing him in the future.

Very friendly dental office! Dr. Preece was concerned with my comfort, providing a warming /massage chair, blanket, headphones with radio, even free chapstick! His exam was very thorough. He seemed concerned about me as a person, not just a random patient. I appreciated his honesty, he only did the dental work that truly needed to be done. The next day I walked in because I had some concerns over some swelling, and he took the time to see me and talk about my concerns. Dr. Preece is phenomenal!! And so is the staff, of course. He has rescued me a couple of times now, not to mention how fantastic my normal care has been. I could not ask for a better dentist. I have been with him for several years now and its just been great. From the office space to the level of care its as good as it gets (for a dentist) because lets face it, getting drilled on is not exactly at the top of everyone's to do list. The lobby is actually cozy and comfortable. Heck I fall asleep in there its so cozy and that's even with only waiting about 5 min. or less usually. I could go on, and on about how great they are but I will say this. They are great people from top to bottom. They do community outreach, they actually care about you as a person, and they are a super to work with. Do not hesitate if you need a good dentist!!

I sought out Dr. Preece's office because a crown I had gotten many, many years ago, had failed, I had lost health care, ergo, dental care and had developed decay in one of the roots under the failed crown. Dr. Preece, and his staff were very sympathetic, listened to my fears and concerns and gave me thoughtful, thorough and comprehensive advice. He was able to save my tooth and it was no mean feat. That was what I had wanted and I am grateful for his expertise and patience in doing that. The tooth is healthy now, and the symptoms I had been having and not recognizing for what they were, ie periodic swollen glands and neck pain, are gone. So, I do highly recommend Dr. Preece and the Anchorage Healthy Smile Center, and also advocate taking as good care of your teeth as you possibly can . Your good health starts here, regardless of what the rest of the medical world thinks.

From the moment I walked in the door, Dr. Preece and his staff made me feel very comfortable. Not something I was expecting when I walked into a new dentist office. I had recently had back surgery and they were more than accommodating to make sure I was comfortable in that chair. Offering me a pillow, blankets and even turned on a massage feature in the chair. Through the exam and cleaning I was continually asked if I was doing OK, if I needed to move or if there was anything else they could do to make me more comfortable. Dr. Preeceeven made time to fix a cavity in the same visit. I'm also very hard to numb up. They took the extra time to make sure that my tooth was completely numb. I have found that most dentists don't take time and just start drilling but not DR Preece. He was very concerned that I didn't feel any pain. I would recommend him to anyone and I have already started recommending him to my friends. I am very blessed that I found this dental practice. Dr.Preece was Very gentle and attentive to my needs. All of the staff were nice and did everything I had asked. I went in to get nine cavities filled and get all four wisdom teeth removed three days in a row and was only sore after the wisdom teeth. It was the most dental work I have had done but was hands-down the best dental experience I have ever had. They were very polite, easily adapted to what I liked and were very encouraging. They use a numbing gel like orajel so you don't feel the needle with novocaine and he puts in enough so you don't feel any of the drilling and only a tiny bit of the pulling. The dental chair is also a massage chair with three settings and two heating options. They made sure I knew what was happening without me even asking and eagerly answered any questions I did have. My dad went there for extensive work and was also pleased and I convinced one of my closest friends to get his wisdom teeth removed there and have seen a surgeon coming out of his office as well. I would recommend Dr.Preece and his associates to anybody needing any dental work done satisfaction guaranteed.

JUST AHHHHMAZZIN....I been going to AHS for about 2 years, every time i go the staff are so welcoming, and the service is phenomenal, the massage heated seats, and the comfortable setting makes its easy for me to relax. During the 2 years,I had 2 implants and veneers. I had a emergency and called the dr office and I expected a answering service but his voice mail said if I needed to b seen right away to call his cell phone number, so I did, him and his staff came in on a Saturday to accommodate me. I have to say, I'm kind of in love with this place. I did some research online and decided to give Healthy Smiles a try. I scheduled my appointment online and was able to make one for 6pm (super convenient! +2). They called to remind me of my appointment (+1). The office is decorated in really calming tones with simple, aesthetically pleasing decor (+1), and they were playing chill oldies (+1). The girl at the front desk was super nice (+2). Dr. Preece came out to shake my hand and greet me (+5)- I give this +5 because this has never happened to me before. Every dental office I've ever been to has come off as sort of snobby, methodical, let's just get this done, and the dentists spent about 10 minutes with me toward the end of the appointment. Dr. Preece was with me from start to finish, making casual conversation, explaining his assessment of my oral condition, and educating me about all of the different methods of care that I might pursue-he didn't push for any expensive treatment options. His assistant was wonderful, too- very helpful and down to earth(+2). I felt like a person among other people, not just a patient. The bottom line is, I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Preece and his staff at Healthy Smiles to anyone.
