I have been involved with Laura’s School of Dance since it opened – over 20+ years ago!! My daughter danced there starting at age 4 and continued dancing with LSOD until she graduated high school (she even taught there!). This experience with dance, in particular with the way LSOD is managed, was instrumental in providing my daughter with so many opportunities for positive growth – both physically and expressively. During that time, and since that time, I have stayed engaged as a volunteer with the studio, as I’ve been so inspired and motivated with the way the studio is run, and the positive influence this dance experience has on so many kids in the communities; in and around the Portage area. A huge shout out and tribute to the owner, and staff – they’re all amazing!! Thanks for everything you do to bring this experience and tremendous opportunity to kids of all ages!! After 20+ years of success you’re still going strong and have such a positive impact on so many lives, THANK YOU!!

As a dance instructor, I have worked at other studios and this is BY FAR the best. The atmosphere is very professional and all of the instructors are out of this world talented! Students are there to learn and have FUN. All notes that are sent home are conveniently in the waiting room to grab if students were absent. I love this dance studio and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

I can't say that I was super impressed with my daughter being involved with the 2018/2019 dance season. Notes home from the studio were very unclear and rude - sometimes in red caps, almost like they were yelling at the parents. Almost always our daughter's name was misspelled on the notes and even in the last program printout. I had corrected them several times. Our daughter was involved in the hip hop group and only had the opportunity to perform once throughout the year because of "attendance issues." The studio only takes checks and charges a high credit card fee. Otherwise you can use paypal, which seems kind of unprofessional. The one time we did use paypal our daughter was pulled aside by her dance instructor for non-payment and embarrassed her. The instructor was also very unprofessional, often times on her phone sharing social media posts with students. There were several times that our daughter felt left out of one-on-one instruction since she was unexperienced. She was singled out at the end of the year for not being able to do the splits and a cartwheel. For a full year of instruction for 1 dance, it was apparent that the group still did not know their routine. Only reason that I'm giving this studio a 2 star rating is that it taught our daughter endurance and patience to finish out the year. We won't be returning.

Our family has been involved with LSOD for 10+ years. We are blessed to be a part of a studio with amazing instructors and choreographers who care about their students. If your child wants to lean and engage in a dance, this is the place!

My daughter has been attending LSOD since she was 3. The instructors are wonderful with both my girls who are polar opposite. They are extremely talented choreographers and experienced dancers themselves!!! They brought my girl who had stage freight out of her shell and she shines so bright on stage and has the confidence to compete solos in front of huge crowds with confidence and grace. Dancing with LSOD has taught my daughter how to both win and lose gracefully as well as to work as a team and individually toward her goals! The opportunities provided are beyond expectation! For example, this summer my 10 year old will be dancing on Broadway in New York getting to watch and meet the Rockettes. Highly reccomend LSOD!!!
