Got "invited" to come have a lesson through an event in downtown Madison. I was told to come in for a lesson at the studio. I was stoked because I've always wanted to learn swing and ballroom. I followed up with the lesson and was very impressed with Victorias instruction. It was all great up until I got footed with a $40.00 bill at the end. Mind no one told me about this until they said, "it'll be 40.00 today." I'm a pretty up-front type and I wish Audrey would have told me that to begin with. Studio looks great and instructor Victoria was kind and knowledgeable about the diffèrent dances. Lesson was nice but getting me to foot the bill after being invited really was a bad start to a possible relationship. This definitely deferred my decision to sign up w Fred Astaire Dance Studio.

It is a Family-like atmosphere, the staff puts you at ease while you are learning to dance, it is a very nice place.

My husband and I decided to use a Groupon to try out lessons at Fred Astaire. The entire staff, and other students, were incredibly welcoming. It is clear that Joseph, the current owner, has created a community at the studio. After our first lesson, we worked with Toria to decide on a program appropriate for us based on their curriculum. They were upfront with pricing and what we would be learning. Each lesson has been fun, appropriate for our level, and included next steps for how we can improve. We are thrilled with the classes we've taken and look forward to continuing to hone our skills under their staff's guidance.

I have tried several times the art of dance. So many times I have given up. It all comes down to the instructors. My instructor Brady and Victoria have one goal - to make dance fun and enjoyable. my wife and I have taken 8 lessons and we look forward to the next lesson. Give it a try! We are having so much fun!

Fred Astaire, Leah Brown (Sugar Land, TX) - I've always been able to bust a move on command but Brad on the other hand only has a few awkward dance moves in his repertoire. Leah at the Fred Astaire dance studio in Sugar Land Texas was very patient with us (Brad), and created a beautiful choreographed dance to “Time of our Lives” from Dirty Dancing.

My wife and I went to Fred Astaire to learn one or 2 dances and one song specifically to do a special dance to at our daughter's upcoming wedding. At our first 3 of 6 very expensive lessons they kept trying to teach us the basics of 8 different dance steps. We then had a meeting with our instructor and the manager and told him we weren't happy because we weren't learning what WE wanted to learn. They told us to bring in a list of songs we wanted to dance to. Gave that list to our instructor before our 4th lesson and she didn't have us work on those in our whole 40 minute lesson. Then they lost our list. We had a new instructor for our last 2 sessions and before that lesson we called and told them again exactly what we want to do. Finally we got a chance to try to learn a routine for our mother/father wedding dance but 2 sessions of 40 minutes each was not enough time. We are now seeing a private instructor in Deerfield and she is awesome. In 2 hours we have our routine down and for 1/3 of what they charge at Fred Astaire. While the instructors at Fred Astaire are very knowledgeable and pleasant to work with they don't respect your requests to be taught what you want to learn. We don't blame the instructors though as we're pretty sure they are told what to teach by management to get people to pay for more lessons. At $90 for a 40 minute session x 6 sessions we didn't even come close to learning what we wanted to learn.

We have been taking lessons at Fred Astaire for the past couple months in preparation for our wedding and could not be happier! The entire staff is so welcoming, encouraging, and fun to be around. The instructors are patient and do a great job of teaching, both my fiance and I, in different ways that cater to our individual needs. I would highly recommend taking lessons with the Fred Astaire Madison East team!
