I took lessons from Encarna for several years on and off. She is one of the most engaging and authentic dance instructors I have ever met, (and I have met a lot). Definitely recommend her classes. They are fun, vibrant, and a hell of a workout!

I have been taking Encarna's class for the past several years. She's patient and fun. She focuses on the importance of compass and gives us a lot of practice materials for palmas and contratiempo (very important in Flamenco). When it comes to choreography she comes back to it with a little changes a year later and such, so over time there are so many things and techniques that I couldn't do at first have become able to do (of course you need to practice at home too). Her patience, positive energy and the way she challenges me a little by little have been helping me a lot. I highly recommend Encarna's class.

Rachel Bennett

Encarna is a fantastic teacher. She brings a wonderful combination of passion, humor, and depth of knowledge to her teaching. She offers a wide variety of choreography and palos and is responsive to student requests. She breaks down the elements of flamenco dance into parts that makes learning the art of improvisation approachable and fun. She is always positive and encouraging while challenging us to improve. Encarna also provides opportunities for her students to participate in a range of performances from very casual to more structured theater productions. I highly recommend Seattle Flamenco!

Eric and Encarna are the real deal. They both live and breathe flamenco. This isn't a side-gig or a pet-project for them. This is what they do, and they're incredible. On top of being gifted and active performers, both in small and large venues, they are patient, inspiring, and thoughtful teachers. I've been taking flamenco guitar lessons with Eric for the past 3 years, starting with a very minimal guitar background, and Eric's patience and teaching skills have really made a huge impact on my guitar playing ability. On top of teaching awesome music, he teaches how to practice, how to dissect a problem, and keeps you a slave to the rhythm - which is a good thing. My lessons with Eric are easily the highlight of my week. Eric and Encarna recently organized a student show, which I was lucky to be a part of. Preparing for the show really made Flamenco come to life for me. It was incredible to play for dancers and singers, and Encarna did a fantastic job of getting the dancers ready and keeping us guitarists in line. She brings a lot of life to any room she's in and it's an absolute joy to work with her. If I had one word to describe Eric and Encarna, it would be 'authentic'. I can't recommend studying flamenco with them enough. I'm hooked, you'll be hooked, you're CD collection will grow, your appreciation for the little things will flourish. They will teach you a way of life, if you let them.

I started taking guitar lessons from Eric about a year ago after attending one of their shows at the Triple Door and being blown away by his skill. I was a rank beginner (and plainly not a natural talent!) but Eric is a amazingly patient teacher. He teaches in a traditional style - -its an oral tradition so he teaches without written materials - the only nod to modernity is to take a video of the assignment to practice with. I greatly enjoy my sessions with Eric, and think he's a gifted teacher as well as performer.
