I started taking the adult Ballet class last year and plan to continue taking classes here. I love the relaxed environment and all the teachers I've had so far have been really patient and supportive.
At this time of this writing, I am in my second term of Ballet at ADI. I'm an adult and I didn't start dancing at all until after I was 30. To me, going into a room full of mirrors and strangers, and moving my body around in front of them is one of the most terrifying things I've ever done (and I regularly do terrifying things). None of my friends or coworkers do ballet, and none of my friends growing up did ballet after early childhood. I still had to deal with all of the anxiety I brought with me. However, the staff at ADI has been welcoming and attentive, and they regularly take it upon themselves to deliver a better service as a business and a school. If you're an adult and you have an interest in ballet, and you're worried about starting decades late, or if you want to participate in dance, but you need help getting there, then I recommend ADI, because they have experience being professional and compassionate.
This is a wonderful school. I danced here of and on for several years and every class I took was ecellent. The staff is super friendly and professioal but approachable. I started out a beginner and felt welcome from day one. I was out of shape, believe me, but still felt loved and accepted by all. I moved out of the neighborhood to a new job in a new town and I miss ADI. Come to San Francisco!
The instructors are very knowledgeable and creative. I love how easily they accommodate different skill sets. Super fun place to dance
My daughter is 4 and attends the Friday evening class. Its ridiculously adorable and the teacher is so sweet and knowledgeable. It`s not only my little one`s favorite time of the week, but mine too.
My daughter has been dancing/leaning ballet at this studio for 8 years now. We love it. It is local, embraces the local nature of Greenwood and is just a fantastic place. The teachers are wonderful, the studio is welcoming and just perfect for us. The owner, Elizabeth is available to chat with about any concerns and has been very accommodating to our schedule over the years. My daughter is always ready to go 30 minutes before class and never wants to miss a class, over 8 years this speaks volumes. I enjoy the Early Bird discount given by paying earlier than the deadline, nice perk.
Been taking classes here for a couple years and I love it. Awesome teachers and great classes! It’s getting a little expensive and the website is a confusing disaster, but it’s totally worth it.
What a heart warming place. I was visiting from Florida and stumbled upon the institute and spontaneously decided to check it out. I’ve been wanting to take ballet for the past 6 years and it never happened. But I had to come to Seattle to finally do it! I walked into the office and the person greeted me like an old friend. She explained everything, listened to me, gave me advice about what class is suitable for me and told me the times when to come try it out. Super nice. First class is free people! What do you have to lose? They have sooo many classes to chose from! From ballet to Flamenco to modern dance and whatever else in various levels for children and adults. Super convenient in two large studios. Rebecca was my teacher and I can not recommend her enough. She was so attentive and professional and knowledgeable. It was my first class in 20 years (!!) and I had such a blast!! Thank you so much for being there American Dance Institute!!
I've been taking Flamenco dance at ADI Greenwood for about a year. Our instructor, Michaelene De La Serna, has many years of experience teaching both Ballet and Flamenco, so she can pass on an extensive knowledge of how to perform every technique to perfection. But she never stresses out about it. She is very forgiving, even going so far as to say she wants us to go ahead and make mistakes, that's part of the learning process. This makes for a friendly, safe class where we all feel free to learn in a relaxed, low pressure environment. She also conveys a strong and true Flamenco spirit, encouraging us to dance from the heart, with passion, not just going through the motions for technique alone.
My daughters have been taking classes (ballet, Irish step, hip hop, jazz & contemporary) at ADI for 11 years. We think it's been & continues to be a wonderful experience. It's also very close in proximity to us which is great too. The price of the classes are competitive and the instructors are professional and very experienced.
I took dance here (adult ballet), and loved it so much I enrolled my toddler in a class too. Very friendly folks, cool little dance studios with a bright, lofted feel. Good for the body and spirit!
I have been so impressed with my experience thus far with American Dance Institute, aka ADI. Our whole family attends classes at their Magnolia location. The studio while small is very well kept. The instructors are wonderful--skilled, friendly, welcoming and very good at what they do. My son is in the 5-7 year old Hip Hop class and LOVES it! My daughter takes Pre-Ballet and I am so impressed that her instructor is teaching them the appropriate ballet terms and introducing her students to all the correct positions while still making it so FUN. Having taken twelve years of classical ballet myself I wanted a class that wasn't a bunch of fluff and just running around the room with scarves but I am also not interested in the competitive and sometimes very elitist culture that can exist at some studios. ADI accomplishes both of my objectives; it is a warm and inclusive environment that also has high expectations of its students and clearly hires well-trained staff. I too am taking classes here and feel both challenged and invigorated by the adult ballet class.
I take adult hip hop dance class with Morgan, and I highly recommend him. He’s very patient, encouraging and passionate about teaching. The class syllabus is well thought out and executed. Level I is set up to familiarize us with the variety of hip hop dance and relatively simple combos. Each class we learn about a branch of hip hop dance, pick up some basic moves and do a combo to a song of that branch. At the end of the class we have the freestyling part. Everyone dance as they like and it brings all good vibes. I always feel cheered up after the class. Thanks!
Love love love Jason's Plyojam class! It is an intense cardio workout that goes by fast because it's so fun. It has really helped my cardio conditioning for running. Now I run faster and farther because his class has helped whip me into better shape!
Took adult dance classes for years when I used to live down the street. Great instructors (thanks Kara!) and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. It was very accepting of different abilities but still encouraged everyone to grow, improve, and make the most of their time in class. I love ADI!
I took a bunch of tap classes when I was a teenager, and a couple jazz and movement classes too. It was always good, so when I had kids, I started taking them there from about age 4. The instructors have always been good and it's a great place to learn if you just want a fun way to get in shape, or if you're looking to get serious about dance.
