I've been a member for about six months, and I love the Mambo Room! The instructors and fellow participants are very welcoming and fun. There's a good mix of leads and follows. You can buy dance shoes there, or find a pair elsewhere. You'll be thankful to have professional shoes that help you enjoy class more. Whether you learn quickly or a little more slow, you will definitely find a class to suit you. The socials and mixers are also fun and exciting.

I love their Friday nights Latin Dance party. Everyone is so nice and respectful. I enjoy that it's never extremely crouded which is nice because you're not bumping into people. The atmosphere is always fun and up beat. This is truly a great palce for bigginers or people who are shy. There is always someone teaching you how to dance and you will basically dance the whole night away learning and laughing. I truly love and enjoy this place.

I'm very disappointed with Mambo Room. I have been to two events in the past 3 years, in which I paid for. My husband bought me a Groupon for 10 classes of either MixxedFit or Zumba classes only. However, when I tried redeeming my Groupon to attend a MixxedFit class, my Groupon was not honored since I had attended an event and was not a "new client." On the Groupon voucher, in small print, it states new clients only - intro to salsa - dancing, intro to bachata. It is not clear or states any restrictions or limitations on either the MixxedFit or Zumba classes. In any case, I was denied participation using the voucher and was just told I could get a refund from Groupon. VERY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE, IN MY OPINION! I was honestly considering buying a punch card, but they've lost a potential customer indefinitely. The instructor for MF is awesome though!!!

I've trained in some of the most prestigious dance studios in the country. The Mambo Room ranks up there with the best of them with their amazing staff and unparalleled curriculum. The one thing that sets the Mambo Room apart is the welcoming environment and the friendly atmosphere from the front desk staff to the amazing instructors. I live in NC and drive an hour, each way, at least twice a week. The Mambo Room is worth the trip!

A Salsa performance by Leroy and Sarah was a wonderful addition to my wedding reception! Words cannot describe the look of enjoyment on my face when the dance floor suddenly became full during the Bachata and Salsa lesson. Mambo Room is awesome. I don't get out there as much anymore, but whatever you're looking for (nightlife, friends, dancing, community...) they've got it. They're also great people. They were the DJ/MC at my wedding and I could not be happier. Dorian is smart, relaxed, accommodating, and really listens to what you want to make sure to tailor his work to your event. Everyone reading this should go check them out!

Really a fun place. Good music, great instruction, and overall a nice atmosphere. I would suggest bringing a friend with you that would enjoy latin dancing. This makes the experience more comfortable and gives you somebody to laugh with. The Latin Fridays are the best. The instructors hang out all night and will even go beyond the basic lesson to teach a new dance, more steps, or whatever. I look forward to my next visit.

We held our wedding at Mambo Room on November 20, 2016 and could not be more happy with the way things turned out! We had the challenge of planning the wedding from a long distance and the Mambo Room staff accommodated us by holding several planning calls at odd hours and helped us by putting us in touch with other great local Norfolk vendors. The Mambo Room team did everything in their power to make sure that I was not stressed out on the day and could enjoy my wedding. We had a relatively simple wedding and held everything in the large room, but the space can accommodate a much larger wedding than ours was. Although we did not use the first dance services specifically for the wedding, my husband and I have taken many classes there in the past and I can highly recommend their dance instructors as well. I am so happy we decided to have Mambo Room as our venue!

I've been dancing salsa for almost 8 years, and have had the opportunity to dance in many different places in the US. I can say with certainty that the Mambo Room facility is one of the best studios I've ever danced in. They have great floors, a nice big open space, and good air conditioning. If you've ever been to a popular salsa spot you know how hot it can get. I also know that the Salsa instruction is top notch. I danced with many of the regular students, and as a lead, I can tell you that I was very impressed with their ability to be light and musical. I have personally taken classes from Tanya in DC, and while I was sad to see her leave, I know she is developing great dancers in the Norfolk area.

In all honesty, the Mambo Room opened up an entirely new world for me. After years of studio-hopping and experimenting with different styles of dance, I found the kind of home and family I wanted here. I felt an immediate sense of belonging a couple months ago when I started, and I can't see myself anywhere else in the Hampton Roads area. Their classes and teachers are extraordinary in their training and heart, and their weekly socials create a perfect environment for new people or beginners to quickly acclimate to the studio's vibes/atmosphere. You'll find all you need here if you are interested in growing as any type of dancer, looking for a new communal hobby, or just having some fun in your downtime. A true cultural center and the only dance studio I would highly recommend for those of any age, background, or level of experience. I couldn't be happier here:) <3

A variety of content is available, ranging from dance instruction to exercise classes—and each is led by an enthusiastically knowledgeable instructor. The Mambo Room is unique in its offerings of delicious meals and adult drinks—which can make for a complete night out with friends, or an equally memorable banquet for colleagues and family. The Mambo Room even has an impressive variety of comfortable dance shoes available for purchase! The Mambo Room is a spacious facility with a friendly and welcoming staff. The dance floors are ideal for all genres of dance and fitness. They have knowledgeable instructors who have a passion for helping beginners to more experienced dancers. I live about 4 hours away and will definitely return to feed my need for salsa!

It is not just another Dancing Studio, it's special. It starts with random people getting together for a class and ends up with a close group of friends that you enjoy being around. It's like family; that's the way I was treated. Their Web Page was very organized and professional. That's what brought me into this place. After a few classes, I felt very comfortable with the instructors and other students. The instructors are amazing; specially John and Leroy. They really care about their dancing communities and care about teaching you. It was a very good experience! I will definitely will recommend Mambo Room. P.S.: about the shoes review, I did order my shoes through them, however I was not kicked out of the place because I did not have them. I did not get my shoes until two weeks I was taking classes and going to socials, they never deny me access to their place or never mistreated me at the front desk. They are very professional!

5.0Raven I had my wedding at this venue in June. It was beyond Amazing!!! The venue was beautiful and the everyone involved with the venue was great . They made me feel so loved like they knew me for years. They made it seem so personal. The lighting and ceiling decor were just breath taking. They have their own sound system with mics so we didn’t have to worry I was very impressed. I definitely recommend this venue if you looking for something in the Hampton roads area. They are awesome !!!

Mambo Room started serving food, beer and wine when they moved to the new larger location on 21st Street. I am obsessed with their Puerto Rican Chicken and Rice! The classes and instructors are great, as always. They go out of their way to be inclusive and to make people feel comfortable.

I absolutely love going to the Mambo Room. The staff is welcoming, energetic, and fun. The atmosphere is supportive (no matter what dance experience you have) with an overall tone of having a good time and enjoying dance and music. The instructors are also very knowledgeable. In addition to the traditional dance classes, there are opportunities for showcasing your talents, and to meet and take classes from other well-known dancers/choreographers from out of town. Lastly, this is a great place for group events or classes, and celebrating any special occasion. The inside is beautiful and multi-functional. It's a great wedding venue and you can even take private lessons for your special dance.

Instructors Dorian and Tanya came to demonstrate and teach the Merengue and Bachata on Friday Sept. 15 to the USS Nimitz ASSOCIATION'S reunion which was held at the Norfolk Marriott Hotel. They did such a great job teaching the dances that everyone involved, I'd say about 15 couples plus spectators had an awesome time either learning or watching the dances. There were constant kudos from those on the dance floor after the activity and well into the next several days. Several of the couples said the activity had motivated them to join a dance studio. Thank you so much Mambo Room instructors!

I brought my girlfriend here to check something off the bucket list but may have discovered a lifetime hobby. We attended the one hour swing lesson followed by the social. Jeff instructed and we loved his enthusiasm and candor. I have never taken a lesson in my life so imagine my shock as I was twirling my lady with impeccable timing by the end of the night. There was zero judgement and a good mix of newbies and experienced dancers. They kept things loose by serving tasty wines and interesting beers. I will definitely be coming here again. Guys don't miss this opportunity to look like a real stud for your girl!

I go to the Mambo Room for Jazzercise classes, which I love. My negative comments are related to the lack of cleanliness of the facility. There is often hair and dust on the dance floor, trash on the tables and carpet, and a general appearance of a lack of cleanliness.
