This is our 8th year at Barfield and we love it! My daughters both started at 2 years old. The staff is the most patient loving staff and we are very thankful for them!

We love Barfield School of Dance!!! I have taken my daughters there for almost 8 years. They have become family to us at this point. This year my daughter is starting her 10th year of dance classes at BSD. She began ballet and tap when she was 2. Over the years she has added additional classes. She has had other options outside of dance to spend her time but she always chooses dance at BSD. She has always felt loved and supported by the BSD staff. She has been in classes with children from different backgrounds and ethnicities and we have never seen anything but love shown to all. ** 2019 update- my daughter is in her 13th year of dance at BSD and continues to grow in confidence and skill. The owner, director, and all staff are like family to us and I know they love my daughter. I can’t imagine them not being in our lives.

I just want to expand on the post from Marissa Nicole Freeman, I am the father of the biracial child mentioned in Marissa Nicole Freeman's post. I also experienced discriminating from this dance facility and me being an active hands-on father I often took my daughter to dance classes. There was a time when I was asked was I spying on the other two year old girls and me as a concern father I was only checking on my child. Recital day incident: May 28th 2016 I too was standing there when the lady came out and asked if she could have one of our seats and if one of my people could sit on the stairs so one of the stage moms could watch her child perform. My mother merely said Why can't she sit in 1 of the other seats? I have 10 people and we have 10 seats. She said please. My mother said no! why do we have to move and sit on the stairs and she said please please can one of your people sit on the stairs. My mother politely said no we're not sitting on the stairs ask someone else. Mind you our seats or on the third row and thier were plenty of empty seats in the first and second row. My mother is very professional and at no time was she acting ethnic. Whatever ethnic acting is.

My girls have been dancing at Barfield School of Dance for three years. We are so blessed to be a part of the Barfield family. The owners and teachers are professional and care about the students. I highly recommend this studio.

My daughter is in her 3rd year at BSD. She loves going to dance and has blossomed at this studio as a dancer. The teachers and staff are professional and caring and they help the girls grow as dancers and young ladies. We have recommended this studio many times. 2019: We are now in our 4th year on the competition team and couldn't be happier at Barfield. My daughter loves feeling like part of a family and is encouraged to keep improving and growing in her craft.

I have been dancing at Barfield school of dance since I was 2 years old and I absolutely love it. Those girls and teachers have become family to me. The teachers make all the classes fun for all of their students. Barfield school of dance also strives to make us not only better dancers but also good humans. Definitely recommend going here.

This dance school is amazing! My 3 children have been going Barfield School of Dance for the past 18 years. The staff has loved my children like they were their own and taught them how to be beautiful and caring people through the art of dance.

Addison Anderson

I love Barfield so much I have been going there since I was 1 with their kinder music program. My teachers are amazing, they are always supportive and teach kindness to us. This is like a second home to me and I would be there every day if I could.

Our daughter has been going here for 3 years now and we absolutely adore ALL of the instructors and the owner/manager!!! They are all VERY professional, caring, knowledgeable, fun, and helpful! Our daughter loves Barfield and has learned so much in her time there. Even though they’re all super busy working to make things run smoothly for classes, camps, and recital, they never have a problem taking a moment (or more) to answer questions or make every dancer feel important! A LOT of work goes on behind the scenes, and it definitely shows! Everything about Barfield School of Dance and everyone there is amazing!! Thank you for all that you guys do to provide such a wonderful experience for your students!!

my older daughter recently began her third year at BSD and my younger daughter begins her first year. Both of my daughters are biracial and are VERY loved by the BSD family. Last September, my daughter was diagnosed with renal cancer and I have never felt more support in my entire life. Within 24 hours of diagnosis, the instructors at BSD had organized a Gofundme account, donated personal money to the account, set up collection buckets, called to express their sympathy, and called the gift shop to send a gift to her in the hospital. Even though my daughter missed an entire semester of class, she was saved a spot in the recital and costumes were ordered. The dance studio also worked to introduce me with another mom who had experienced childhood cancer. Both of my daughters count down the days to dance class every single week and truly love the instructors. I am very saddened that others feel they were attacked due to race, but in my experience BSD would never treat someone differently based on skin color or anything else for that matter. All of the classes my children have been in have been very ethnically diverse, and we all feel welcomed with open arms. I would recommend anyone to dance here. <3

My daughter has been with Barfield School of Dance for 7 years and we absolutely love it, I can't imagine my daughter dancing at any other studio. We've always been treated respectfully and I know there's not another studio whose staff would love and nurture my daughter and her love of Dance the way Mrs. Bonnie, Mrs. Lizzy, and Mrs. Lauren have. I don't know think there is another studio whose instructors would spend hours upon hours of THEIR OWN TIME creating and designing costumes for their students. This is the kind thing Barfield School of Dance does for their dancers. They spend time away from their families, rehearsing and growing our children to be not just beautiful dancers but beautiful human beings as well.

My daughter has been dancing since she was 2! Amazing family feel and support!

My girls have been at Barfield going on 11 years now. We love this studio. The instructors are amazingly talented and kind. This is truly a second home for my girls. The owner and teachers treat us like family. They cultivate an environment that promotes positive self image, kindness and confidence.

The way some people give mothers a review on a business page is embarrassing. Best Studio around and an amazing support system for all the dancers. Structured and On Point (no pun intended). So many studios have teachers who are not qualified, but this is not one of those studios. You won’t be disappointed.

Love love love Barfield and the staff. Couldn't ask for a better place to dance. The environment is completely family friendly, and honestly I couldn't think of dancing anywhere else. This will be my ninth year with them, and I am very pleased with the services that they have provided/are providing. I would highly recommend this studio to anyone that wants their child to learn the beautiful art that is dance.

We are very pleased with this studio and the teachers.

We have been at BSD for over 8 years now. My daughter loves it and loves being part of the Dance Company. She has overcome her shy nature and learned to be confident onstage thanks to the time and energy given by the BSD leaders and staff. We have had a wonderful experience being part of this dance team family.

I've spent the last 20 years of my life here. I couldn't leave. There is a culture and community here unlike any other. This school doesn't just grow artists - it raises women. They say it takes a village and this is mine. I've held tiny tots at their first class and hugged those same tots as they walked off the stage from performing their senior solos. It's a family comprised of passionate people that make life more beautiful together.

Dayna Richmond

Awesome group of people and dancers!

Hayley Dunaway

I used to go here and I thought it was the best! I highly recommend. The teachers are really sweet/nice and I miss them so much!

Raymond B Herndon

Barfield has been great for my daughter. She's been dancing there for 10+ years. They're amazing people. Teaching my daughter phenomenal technique, amazing choreography, holding her accountable. And as a dance dad, I'm thankful they eliminate problems when they arise. it's the BEST studio in Murfreesboro and we are very blessed to be here

Mary Askin

very rude owner and instructor! never answer the phone and act impatient when asking questions

Lauren Zachary

I have spent so much of my life at BSD and I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else. I’ve always felt an overwhelming amount of love and dedication pouring out of the studio! I think of everyone there as my family and I definitely would not be where I am today without them! BSD is #1!

Melodie Baggarly

My daughter has been dancing at Barfield School of Dance for 9 years and absolutely loves it, she calls it her second home. The staff and facilities are top-notch, sharing the love and art of dance with their students.

Rebecca Baskin

My daughters have attended dance classes and camps here for years. I agree that they are nurtured at BSD and are treated with respect and encouraged to be their best as dancers, friends, mentors, and community members.

Angela Cargile

My daughter has danced at this studio for ten years and has loved every second of it. She constantly asks for more studio time. I have BSD to thank for helping my daughter continuously strive to be a better dancer, to want to always learn more, sharpen her technique and to have a better appreciation for the art of dance. The owner and instructors have a genuine love for dance and their students. I appreciate them helping my daughter cultivate a deeper passion for dance and also equipping her with ways to better hone her skills as a dancer. These instructors love all of their students and treat them like family. They care deeply and it shows. They invest so much time and effort into their students and truly train them up with lots of love in a healthy, positive and safe environment. Your child is not just a number here. They care, they love big and welcome everyone into their studio. We love our dance family!

Racist and favoritism

Ashley Wilson

The way the mothers of the dancers represent themselves and this business is embarrassing.

Lesley England

I wish they were more sympathetic to other mothers, I mean all of them are mothers now! I got stuck in mud on property and had to pay for (supposed) "damages" over $200, paid for $200 for my child to be in recital and because of weather and her being sick (while we are in the flu season), she is not allowed to participate!

Marissa Nicole Freeman

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS DANCE FACILITY TO ANYONE! I had an issue with the recital my daughter was in on May 28th. First, at the recital my family was asked if "one of your(our) people" could sit on the steps during a performance (which happened to be the same performance my daughter was in) so another parent could see her child perform. Mind you there were seats available on the first and second row. The lady went to get the director and told her my mother in law was being confrontational. I know this because I was back stage with the director when the other parent was speaking with her. They walk out and I proceed not knowing who the parent was speaking about. I walk into My mother in law pointing out the other available seats politely to the director of the recital. Some how it was relayed to the manager (Lizzie) that my mother in law acted "ethnic." Secondly, the recital "program" was paper! It was never specified that the program would be paper. I had several company's and individuals pay for ads in this program and were not satisfied with the amount of money the ads cost for such poor publishing. It looked like it was made on Microsoft the day of the recital. I was told by the manager today, whom it took almost two weeks to get in touch with after the recital, that the ads I sent in were "a mess and had to be fixed and no money would be refunded" Which was never brought to my attention before publishing the program. Proceeding to discuss my thoughts about the program and asking for the money back, I was insulted, undermined and disrespected by Lizzie, the manager of the facility. After about twenty minutes of listening to her tell me irrelevant information, cutting me off, and unwilling to listen to my concern to find a resolution that would work for both parties, I finally told her my daughter would not be returning to the facility. She then told me my daughter couldn't return if she wanted to because she's "ethnic" and part of the "ethnic behavior" that was supposedly shown at the recital. If you have kids that are biracial, from a different culture, or apparently anything but white, this facility is not for you. The only reason this place has one star from me is because it wouldn't let me post my review with out it!

My daughter has been dancing here for 7 years. This is her 4th year on their competitive dance team. I have found Ms. Bonnie, Ms. Lizzy & Ms. Lauren to be amazing. And not just to my daughter, to everyone. They are extremely dedicated to their craft and want all their dancers to embrace the art of Dance as well. I have watched my daughter fall in love with dance and this studio alike. I highly recommend Barfield School of Dance. In regards to claims from a couple people below about race, paper programs and rude behavior. These claims are completely garbage. I assisted this year the day of recital and the instructors and stage managers weren't the issue. This family was. In regards to the programs, 5 recitals I've been to and it's always the same paper, which is beautifully color printed on yes paper. Not sure what the expectation was.... Some people are just ridiculous. 2019: another year gone by. Now been here 10 years and it's the best place in Murfreesboro as far as I can tell.
