I have been going here for 6 months now. Really incredible, beginner and advance levels friendly. The instructors are incredible, patient, knowledgeable, and very fun. I was very nervous in the beginning because I had never taken any dance classes before in my life. I was afraid that I there would be many other skilled dancers and I would not be able to keep up. That wasn't true at all, as the teachers create and maintain classes that are challenging enough for advanced dancers, as well as beginners. I really really love this studio and cannot recommend it enough for others. They also offer the first month at a super low price. That was enough of a non-commitment to encourage me to start. And as you can see I have been going for half a year now and love it so so much! I did my first showcase after about 5 months and performing in front of my friends was so much fun. This place has truly become a home for me. Thank you guys for being awesome!!

I reached out to Vince over a year ago for adult breaking/hip hop classes. He told me a new program was in the works. I'm completely stunned and amazed at what has been achieved over the last year with the opening of UMA, I have only witnessed steady progress since the beginning. Vince along with his great supportive staff have provided an extraordinary environment for both beginner and intermediate adults to dance in. You will not find a better spot in center city Philly.

I have so much love for UMA! Never have I felt so welcomed and part of a dance community from day one. Vince and co are fantastic teachers that know how to get at the root of movement. Their classes are a great balance of basics, challenge, encouragement, historical tidbits, and fun. I've really appreciated how supported I've felt as a beginner in house, breaking, and waacking classes, and I've been super excited about being able to contextualize my lindy hop and solo jazz experience within dances of the African diaspora. I cannot recommend this place highly enough!

This is by far the best dance studio I've ever been to! They have a wide variety of classes with a particularly deep focus on street styles and African diaspora genres. The teachers are incredibly knowledgeable, approachable, and know how to teach to the room. There are classes for all levels, but even the advanced classes are welcoming and supportive. I am constantly recommending this studio to friends and acquaintances. In the year since I've been coming to this studio, my understanding of rhythm and groove, my fitness, and my overall dancing have improved so much. I recommend this studio for experienced dancers and people who have never set foot in a dance class; and for those who feel any kind of intimidation, the teachers and community of Urban Movement Arts will alleviate all of those feelings! Honestly, I could give this studio a higher review.

I love this place! Students and instructors both just give off such good vibes. I get really anxious trying new things and was on my way to a full panic attack waiting for my first class to start, but I still had an awesome time. The beginner classes are super accessible, and even stumbling into a more difficult class, I managed to have fun without feeling stupid. Vince is a total doll, and the rest of the staff/instructors are cut from the same cloth. So glad UMA has become a part of my week!

Conveniently located in the heart of Center City, there isn't a better place to drop by for a work out or dance class before heading home. I love how many styles of dance Urban Movement Arts has to offer; it's such a great way to challenge yourself in a welcoming & inclusive environment while learning more about movement, your body, and the dance community. Looking forward to taking more classes as this studio continues to thrive and grow.

Stylishly fearless

Talk about great vibes and energy! I'm so hooked on the adult house and hip hop classes. This is the type of space I've been looking for for a while, the instructors are amazing, the dance routines are dope and so on point, and they have so much more to offer like salsa which I'm taking next and all of this at a great price, UMA makes me happy, I truly enjoy dancing here amongst a wonderful group of people :)
