I am seventeen years old, I was a student here for one year when I was 15-16 years old in the 2015 - 2016 school year. The description on the website is very misleading and I wanted to make people aware of my experiences.
I can only speak for the highest level class and only for me, but I can say that I was not getting what I needed. I learned more in the first couple weeks at my new studio than the entire year at this one. Not only was the ballet technique not what I was needing, the classes were short, slow, and super easy.
I had been on Pointe for two years before joining this studio and was promised Pointe work every week and instead it was very rare. The floor is also treacherous for Pointe shoes. It's slippery wood and we needed rosin to prevent falls even though it didn't work very well. I was very scared to dance on Pointe on it.
The main teacher, with the parents, was very joyful and upbeat and "talked a good talk," but behind the dance classroom door she was a different person. However it was not like this with everybody. She had her own chosen few who received her attention, leaving the other students behind.
If you are looking for preprofessionaI classes to prepare you for college or to join a company, I do not recommend it. Coming from a person who is now auditioning for colleges, it was not worth it, the time or the money. I lost an entire year of technique and Pointe and almost my love of dance. I am not trying to give this studio a bad name, but I truly believe this information needs to be out there for other people who might be in the position I was.
