Very good and scenic campus with nice greenery making it very peaceful and lively place. They have a very old library cum museum which is a worth a visit. On top of that amazing computer science community and very good journalism department. Also univ has attached food street with extraordinary food joints. Definitely worth visiting once.

Love UNC Chapel Hill. The Hospital is steps away and they have a great medical school and dental school. Have so many great resources and have good vibes. GO TAR HEELS!!!!

M Rawaan

One of my best decisions to earn my MBA at UNC. Exceptional faculty, beautiful campus, and everything you can ask for from a world class university.

jacob fridley

awesome school i heard that michael jordan went to that school. Harrison barnes went there to

Milagro Serpas

Do not go to this school they do not care about anyone except the checks. They did even care enough to help a young girl who was molested. Violating their students rights

Shengjie Xu

Hardly any of the students are not from North Carolina originally. The majority of the profs get their family members in using old southern money but it's just corruption and nepotism. Theirs so much corruption here it's ridiculous.

Mya Damico

I hope this doesn't affect my chances of getting into other schools, but if it does, I'm willing to accept that. Forewarning, this is going to be a useless review because it will not help others. This is simply a personal note. UNC is a great school, from what I've heard, but their process is extremely nitpicky. I understand they want the "cream of the crop," but I can't help but feel disappointed in their notion of "cream of the crop." My best friend applied and was rejected, they didn't even give her a chance by deferring her. She is number four in her class (might I add a very competitive class, our valedictorian has a full ride to Yale) and has a GPA of above 4.0. I'm sure there are many students who have been rejected that are in the same boat or are even better... and for those of you in that boat, I'm sure you will excel anywhere you go. I just believe that they need a more personal process. My best friend is one in a million, not because of her outstanding work ethic and drive, but because of her compassion and love of learning. They'll regret rejecting her.

Great memory and early classes all over the place.

I went there today to UNC health for dermatology to meet with a doctor and interns for a second opinion for some ongoing severe skin problems I have been having for a long time! I felt like I got some answers and opinion's that I haven't here with my many doctors more visits to come but well worth the 3 and half hours each way drive!

These will be the best years of your life. The campus is amazing and getting better. Chapel Hill is a great place with great nightlife and people. Very good education, one of the best state school consistently at a decent price. If this place is on your radar, go visit, you will fall in love.

Mike Barrett

Me and my father toured the campus and I fell in love with this school! So much history and my family has attended this university for generations! They offered everything i could think of and their law program was in my opinion amazing! Highly recommend this school to anyone!

The classes don't meet and there is no homework or tests, so I didn't learn anything. I did get to party with the basketball team though.

Dishonest and filled with thieves. Go to a school or hospital were people have morals.

Malik Jabati

I have a full-ride to the school, so I can't complain too much, but UNC doesn't have the same caliber of opportunities as a school like Harvard, Stanford, or even UVA. There are also issues with race-relations on-campus and draconian policies in regards to drug use.

THEY KEEP SPAM CALLING ME AND I HAVE NEVER HAD ANY CONTACT WITH THEM - WHATSOEVER!!! i HAVE ASKED THEM TO STOP CALLING BUT STILL GET CALLS EVERY 3-4 DAYS!!! HOW DO YOU MAKE THEM STOP!! GO AWAY

I transferred to UNC in the fall of 2013. This school is a great place to further one's academic exploration and the atmosphere is very upbeat and positive. I think it is clearly evident that people who come to UNC-CH end up loving it by looking at the retention rates of students, which is 96.8% (as per US News). You can't beat that!!

Sarah Money

I'm a student here and I love it! The people are very friendly and there is so much to do! The schoolwork can be challenging but it's worth it at the end.

Summer Holmes

love this school immensely. great education, strong black community. shaped me to where I am today

Great university but it does not offer what Michigan has: top ten academics AND athletics

Marianne Howell Wright

There are many who can review UNC academics and sports so I'll leave that to them. The beauty of the campus I can address with some photos and tell you that the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is charming and and a mixture of old and historical with new and high tech. I often show the campus to out of town clients and love to see the surprise on their faces when they realize UNC is gorgeous. If you visit I would suggest taking a walking tour to learn about the history of the monuments and buildings of the UNC campus and the traditions that follow.

I am a current rising senior in the state of North Carolina. In the spring of my eleventh grade year, I took a tour at both- Duke University and University of North Carolina-Chapel hill-on the same day. While I do recommend double booking tours on the same day for comparison, I only recommend it if there is a proper barrier of time between each. I went to tour UNC first and I loved it because it shares positive traits with my current high school-I go to a populous, urban high school which is high in diversity and opportunities. As one of your peers, fellow seniors and juniors, I highly recommend touring UNC to see if the school fits your wants and needs in a school. In my tour, I could see myself walking in the academic quad, Lenior hall, and the pit. Unfortunately, in my review, I cannot share any information on class environment, financial aid and other extremities, I recommend one to search the school website and college confidential. Because I cannot, properly, write a full review on this university, I will rate this school at a 4.

Black LiesMatter

Great school from what I hear but unfortunately, this university has ELISE MCGLOTHIAN (Class of 2016, I believe)as one of its alumna. As someone who has the CAPACITY to positively impact the world, it's a shame this hypocrite maintains a facade of politeness and integrity in public but is a completely different, divisive person in private. This "woman" has no respect for those with disabilities or disorders that negatively affect their quality of life (be it a physical handicap or illness or a psychological difficulty such as PTSD, anxiety and or panic disorder). Those close to or within Ms. McGlothian's circle may and probably have taken notice of actual instances in which she has outwardly mocked, ridiculed, and expressed malicious humor at the disabilities that pose a challenge to a normal standard of living. Often those around her are EXACTLY the same type of hateful, malicious, envious, and divisive individuals, especially those of her particular background/demographic. If you are considering employing her or utilizing her services, DO NOT be fooled. While Elise McGlothian may maintain a facade of responsibility, politeness, dignity, and poise, in reality she is a VERY TOXIC and HATEFUL individual. Yes, perhaps she may have some of the skills that MIGHT qualify her for a position in her career but that means nothing if you have NO CHARACTER OR COMPASSION. Would you honestly want someone like her being privy to important details of others' lives? This post is not a malicious attempt to smear or ruin the reputation of this individual but as someone with a disability who has faced endless ridicule and discrimination, meeting and interacting personally with this so-called "young lady" has honestly made me want to expose these kinds of individuals for what they are. I AM SO TIRED of the system allowing heartless, evil, wicked, and malicious individuals to gain and attain standing in the system. Other individuals that should be noted are Bram Wazl, Ansley Carlsile (Spelman College), and Ruby LeMorin and Alexandra Green (Howard University).

Loved it, transferred after my sophomore year at another in-state university. It truly is THE best value for your money of any public school in the country, but extremely competitive. I'd say at least 50% of any graduating high schoolers in NC want to go here, but few get that chance to. Transferring is always a good option and I recommend it, since the acceptance rate is around 29%. Top ranked School of Public Health, Medical School, Law School, and MBA program which is probably in the top 10 in the U.S. The first public university to open its doors, and really paved the way for all other public schools. Great athletics, a nice quaint college town, and a community that embraces the university. The campus has architecture from the 17-1800's, and offers beautiful walks underneath the pines to class everyday. Some of the cons are the parking since it is a small town not really built for a student body of around 30K, not to mention problems during gamedays when another 50-60K show up for football. It is a very politically correct and a super liberal school as well, but has its niches too for those with different points of view. The academic advising program could be a lot better, as it is sometimes difficult to determine what classes satisfy multiple gen-ed requirements as a freshman. It is like reading chinese sometimes, and you really have to study these documents and be on top of your game or major if you want to graduate in 8 semesters without summer school. I skipped orientation since I transferred, but maybe it's easier now for incoming freshman. The crime rate outside of campus needs to improve, and is improving, but I'd still not venture out alone really outside of campus heading towards Carrboro at night. I never felt unsafe on campus though, and the university does a good job of letting students know about these things. To the reviewers who didn't go here and want to continually discuss athletic sanctions, grow up. This is for ATTENDEES ONLY to review the university, not your second-rate opinion coming from Raleigh or Durham. As a guy, I can say that the women are extremely classy here, and not as easy as they are in Greenville or Raleigh, which is a testament to the type of people that the university attracts. They do sometimes get a bad reputation for acting like they are better than girls at some other local universities. And based on run-ins I've had with your typical girl at another public university in the state, they just really ARE better, and it's pretty obvious. Go Heels.

I just finished the Executive Master's of Healthcare Administration program. Having completed an MD, and BS degrees at other (prestigious) colleges, (and nearly finishing a M.S. program) (in addition to working with various hospitals in 3 different Residencies, and being a Clinical Professor at Washington Univ. in St.Louis, Univ. of Cincinnati College of Medicine, and Duke Family Practice residency program) I can say without reservation that UNC-Chapel Hill has the most dedicated, talented, caring professors I have ever dealt with. They love teaching, and are great at it, engaging the students and embracing diversity and innovative thinking. They also choose amazing people as their students. Top notch all the way! It is the single best thing I have done with my healthcare career!

Won't accept Asian students even if they come with a 4.0 GPA. Bunch of racists.

Jennifer Swanson

Beautiful campus.

Christian Alvarez

One of the nicer universities in the Triangle! The campus is just so beautiful, truly a place I’d like to further my studies.

Alvin Crawford

You are correct, this school is a disgrace. The vandalism which should be prosecuted to the full extent shows the lack of education provided. There is NO such thing as "out of sight out of mind". History will always be there and if you students had spent all that money at a better school you would know that. I am from NC and for 53 years have poured my heart and soul into being a Tar Heel fan. I have a UNC tattoo which I will not remove because it's a part of MY history and i am not as ignorant as the students that took matters into their own hands. Guess what students, history is still here and the only thing you have changed is the fact that now you ARE what you say you hate so much.

David Rhodes

Great place

Enrique Perez

I loved my time here! UNC students are a smart and easy going. The academics are top-notch. The atmosphere is collaborative, and allows for a lot of peer learning and experimentation. Definitely more for Type B individuals, but a Type A person like myself certainly got a lot from it.

Jake Eff

Racist monument to traitors stands above a campus where they cheat at basketball and make up fake "classes" to pretend their criminally recruited basketball players can get fake grades. Awful. How is this a public institution?

Jonathan Daniel

Beautiful campus traffic is horrible after 6 pm

Mike Hunter

Administration allows vandalism and desecration of monuments. Learn from the past. Don't tear it down in lawlessness.

Michael Leiva

First and last game I will go to at Kenan Memorial Stadium. What a disaster to leave the parking lot and campus. UNC should be ashamed. You have to figure out a better way. This occurred Sept 23 vs Duke.

Joe Barker

This place is hell. People are outwardly narcissistic, selfish, passive-aggressive and, above all, extremely judgmental. The word 'extremely' doesn't even really do it justice. It is borderline unbearable. If someone offered me a million dollars to go here for another year, I'd likely decline.

A top tier and prestigious university. Truly represents North Carolina. Great basketball program and overall a top 20 ranked university.

Bottom line is I live here and love it. It’s filled with smart, caring people in a beautiful setting. That said, the dogmatically liberal faculty and community makes doing business here a chore.

Daniel Fieldstone

My gosh my golly what a cool looking campus. I walked through here when the place was rather slammed. The weather was good and people were walking to and fro. You could feel how this place could be a very very fun place to go to school. I really feel that the vibe here is a lot better then the vibe I felt at UNC Charlotte.

Nice campus - when I went there in 1978 the cafeteria had roaches all over the place. I guess no one had heard of boric acid or something. I only ate there maybe once? I usually ate at the Carolina Inn which had a buffet and was close to where I lived in a house off campus. The porthole had good rolls also was good chicken. Overall a nice experience. Chapel Hill town and Carrboro were nice also. Education was good. Think I learned some things.

Unluckily I transferred in during the middle of the academic school year. I somehow managed to get the 4th floor. There's no elevator and carrying stuff up the narrow stairways is a pain. The 4th floor also has vaulted ceilings making any sort of height an issue. I'm not one to complain so I've grown used to it. Overall the dorm itself is not bad comparing to the other schools I've seen. Try not to get the 4th floor for your assignment. Otherwise the location is excellent. Pros: Close proximity to 1) Lenoir Dining Hall, 2) Mid-Campus, 3) Davis & Undergraduate Libraries. It is also a short walk to Franklin Street, giving you the option of placing out of Campus Meal-Service Plans. The study lounge also allows for meeting new persons, as well as a relatively comfortable study are (TV is included in lounge allowing for movies/video game playing assuming the resident does not bring their own TV) Cons: 1) No elevator, 2) 4th floor has an odd bathroom with vaulted ceilings (less toilets & showers than other floors), 3) Every faucet leaks in the bathroom (almost- has been fixed recently to some extent), 4) Early morning types will find that showers are cold as the water heaters are probably on first floor (even first floor however must turn the showers on for ~10 minutes before getting lukewarm water, add to that for each successive floor- this is at ~6:30AM) 5) No trash service in building (so it must be taken out near behind Davis Library) Overall: Relatively good dorm, yet lacking certain basic amenities. Most shocking experience was waking up to find that I had to turn on all 3 showers at once in order to guarantee hot water even 20 minutes later. The location is the selling factor, allowing easy access to Franklin street, and most importantly the libraries and dining hall which are only approximately 100 yds. away.

Gerhard Guevarra

I'm going to approach this review as a visitor or tourist. I am an alumni, but I won't discuss academics or school selection as it depends on what the student is looking for. However, if you are visiting UNC for the day, its a wonderful place to walk through and most people will say most of the town of the University. Although you may feel cheesy, go ahead and take the campus tour. The tour guides can say a lot about history and some unknown facts about the university and its landmarks. Outside of the tour, which is mostly the central campus, I would consider visiting the basketball museum, Morehead Planetarium, and a stroll through Franklin St.

My great great great grandfather Major David Gillespie, was the first graduate in the first class at UNC Chapel Hill. I'm ashamed and I believe strongly that he'd be ashamed of the liberal mind set and anti-Americanism that's now so pervasive on the UNC campus.

Nathaniel Elliott

Don't come here.

Huggy Bear

Useless university.

Really great school.

Disgusting school. Nothing but a bunch of racist attend. Allowing scum to destroy property of our veterans. Silent Sam will not be silent anymore. And to think your students are soppost to be smart. Lol. Stupid with out a clue more like it. But allowing students to do this could start a war. It can even cause students to lose their lifes.

Rocephin W

Man I can not stand this school. I thought Harvard students have the worst attitudes but apparently I was wrong. This school is not even IVY league material and some of their students were very condescending. At least Harvard students can take a bad joke (and smarter). UNC school campus is constantly under renovation. Their medical school and pharmacy school are always screwing up students from other schools by giving them a rotation spot, then denying some of them last minute. On the outside, they tell people that they want what’s best for their students, but the truth is that they are rejecting diversity. The only reason it deserves 2 stars is because they have cheap tuitions. I would not recommend this school if you are an open minded, innovated, ambitious person, because the faculty and the students at UNC will mold you into a mass produced conservative college grad.

Dan Barr

Best public school in the country in a great small town. Beautiful campus and great place to watch a basketball gamr.

Currently loving it. The perfect mixture of academic rigor, school spirit, and welcoming environment.

I had many great professors that were the best in there fields that I learned so much from and they were never to busy to take the time to help you understand what you might not be able to quite understand it to its fullness but they could take that what your having trouble with and make it clear and never make you feel like you had not bothered them or were "dumb" My time from taking what I had learned into real life of long hours on the floor of the ER to the OR in the labs or on the floor I can say for what I was taught has never left me to this day and for that I am so Very Thankful for there care of what they installed in me.

I applied here is 2003 and they never accepted me because of my somewhat low GPA but NCSU accepted me and I grduated with an accounting degree in May 2006. I definitely suggest NCSU to UNC. They are very picky about who they choose at UNC, but I am glad that I was accepted to State 14 years ago. Gave 3 stars instead of 1 or 2 because I made some good friends at UNC and love their dining hall although the cost is quite expensive and it can get packed at times. Go Wolfpack!!

David Hobson

Amazing school, arguably the best. Tl;dr: Quality education, people are smart but down to earth, great culture, and a school to be proud to have graduated from. Opportunities abound, so try everything and make the most of it! It's a massive school with endless opportunities. Every club and activity you can imagine. So take advantage of as much of you can, because you won't get another chance like this again! Amazing and free plays, free ballroom lessons, sports, athletic facilities, improv groups, clubs around every hobby you can think of, and so much more. Everyone I met was at the top of their high school graduating class and was amazing in some way. I loved learning from my peers, being around amazing people, and developing quality relationships. Choosing your friends is so important and you have so many incredible people to choose from and invest in. There's also incredible teachers to learn from. Take advantage of it, build relationships, and find a mentor! It consistently gets the award for best school for your money. There's a d*mn good reason. The facilities, resources, access, curriculum, it's all quality and top of the line. It's not Harvard, but for a public school, it might as well be. The culture is awesome, and it's more than just the sports arena. However, get into sports at least a little. Watch a game or two. It's amazing that ten years later, you immediately have a connection anyone in some way related to UNC. And you immediately have tension with anyone related to Duke - yay sports rivalry! The size can be a challenge. You have to actively get on top of things, find a group, and get involved. No one will force you to and if you don't take initiative, you can get lost in all of it. I think that's the one common denominator of the few people who don't have a good experience. At the end of the day, there's something for everyone. Every group, niche, club, or resource you can think of. So don't settle, try everything, and make the most of it. If you do, you'll have an incredible time, enriching experience, and a school to be proud of!

Marc Overton

Best four years of my life. I am forever a Tar-Heel

Amy Hall

Don't ever go to UNC Hospital for a second opinion after seeing a doctor at Duke.
