My daughter has been in the recreational gymnastics class on Wednesday’s and recreational dance class on Thursdays. I couldn’t be happier with her progress. She has learned a lot in both parts of the program. Looking forward to seeing what the future holds in dance and gymnastics at Faulkner’s.

I don’t normally comment on social media and write reviews but today I had to write a review. On Sunday June 3rd my daughter was able to participate in the Laurie Hernandez Camp at Legacy Gymnastics in Concord, NC It was an amazing opportunity for the girls. Thanks to Coach Mich as well as Coach Melissa and Coach Frank at Legacy. Was a great experience. Laurie was so nice and great with all the kids. Thank you Faulkner’s for making this event possible.

My daughter is completing her first year of competitive gymnastics at Faulkner's and has had the best experience in learning what it is like to put in hard working hours and be successful at winning. Tried to enroll my son into their dance program. Was told by Mitch Faulkner on Thursday that we are OK to start on Monday. This meant that we missed one class this month and he offered us to come to a gymnastics class as a make up. After this conversation I realized that we had a conflict on another Monday this month, so emailed to ask if we could come to 2 gymnastics classes as a make up or wait and start in February. Received a very curt email from Sue Faulkner on Monday (4 days after the phone conversation with Mitch and on the same day as my son was supposed to start the classes there) advising me to wait till summer to take their dance classes as we "had to many conflicts"... Odd way to run a business. Definitely will not take any dances or gymnastics classes with them!

Began our 5th year in late August 2018. I could not be more happier with the progress my daughter is making on the Faulkners Dance Company. She continues to grow into a beautiful dancer inside and out. She has become a leader but also a caring person for all of her dance teammates. Very proud of her.

The 1st Season of Competitive Gymnastics has been a great experience for our daughter at Faulkners. Our daughter has learned so much about the sport of gymnastics in just one year. She competed excel bronze and the structure she was provided by her coaches was great. Coach Mich is always available after or before practice and always makes sure to let us know our daughters progress. Coach Mich makes sure if our daughter learns a new skill to always have our daughter come get us before class ends or video tapes the skill for us. Looking forward to seeing how our daughter does in the upcoming years of competitive gymnastics.

I began the adult gymnastics class a little over a year ago. It’s been a great experience. I am able to work out after many years of not tumbling. Great coach who works with the adults. He does a nice job coaching and love the gym with the Air Trac also being an option for these old bones.

It was really good seeing one of Faulkners old gymnasts last week at the gym. Delaney who is a cheerleader at Appalachian State did the Camps for Faulkners last week but even tumbled with the girls on Monday. My daughter really enjoyed it. I found out that Coach Mich has been her coach for several years. It’s really nice to know that my daughters gymnastics coach is so connected with the college world.

Each daughter has started the 3rd year of dance and gymnastics two weeks ago. They continue to go strong. The feelings the girls get when they practice and perform is hard to explain. The expressions and body language they produce at Faulkners makes me want them to do more and more. The girls have really jumped on the bandwagon with Miss Candace, Miss Chelsea and Miss Nina.

On the weekend of Mother’s Day I thank god for my family, my children and my health. My children are the world to me and I would do whatever I can to protect, teach and support them in all forms of life. Three years ago I learned about FDG from some friends who strongly suggested the facility and program. I wanted to find a place for my two girls that would be fun, structured and in a safe environment. In Faulkners I was able to find that plus Mrs. Faulkner impressed me with all of her community services with the churches. It’s cool Mrs. Faulkner is still going strong after 43 years. The learning at FDG is cool because the classes are not over crowded and they actually teach and care about your child. I am a believer that everyone is equal and that everyone has a good in them. My girls have learned so much in the 3 years they have been at Faulkners.

It’s a pleasure being able to do the sport I love but also have training by a coach to do it. Most gyms I have attended that has adult class makes you work on your own with no training. At Faulkners they are coaching you as a student.

My little boy is in his 2nd year of rec gymnastics. His 1st year he was scared and cried every week he came. Now with him being 4 years old and finishing his 2nd year he is like a new kid. Really like that the coaching staff is very stable. They keep the same coaches and are very good about keeping control of the classes. The kids have been taking dance at Faulkners now for three years. We tried several facilities but Faulkners was way better than others. We first saw Faulkners in the Hillsborough Parade. My 3 year old is finally potty trained thanks to the rule of not being able to go into the foam pit, unless the child is potty trained. After two weeks of not going into the pit now my child is potty trained. The coach is very patient and understanding which helped my child get through this milestone.

Living in the Midwest was loads of fun for our family but we relocated to Mebane, North Carolina for my husbands company. The hardest transition was finding a gymnastics facility for my daughter and a dancing facility for my second child. We tried four different facilities and after trying all of them we decided on Faulkners. The family atmosphere and the passion that the staff provides is what made us want to attend Faulkners. Classes are very well organized and structured. Our one daughter loves her dance classes and our other daughter loves her Sr. Pre Team Class.

i used to go to faulkeners and their recitals I felt like were too much of a dance production. At one point I was taking guitar and gymnastics at the same time back to back. I would get jumped on continuously because I was late for practice. For every month, my family had to pay $100 even when we were on break. My grandfather said it was useless. Mrs. Faulkener one time at one of the recitals was arranging people for the finale. I was supossed to be in line 4 and I was and then we had to go and her exact words were" Go to line 3" I said " but im in line 4" Then she said" I don't care got to line 3" That was a waste of my time moving from one line to the next in a crowded space. Mr. Faulkener is so nice and generous. One time i had to call home sick and he didn't expect it but he took care of things like a professional. My opinion is that the facility needs to do some work and try a little bit harder on what good customer service actually means

Great hands-on instruction for my late-starting daughter. Other gyms wouldn't bother with a 9-year-old with no previous training (although they would gladly take my money.) Sue & Mich Faulkner immediately got my daughter tumbling. Invited her to join the competition team ONLY because she showed results of practicing at home and also because she knows how to listen and respect her coaches. They are tough but fair. They care about their gymnasts and have high expectations. My daughter wants to sign up for another year - I am happy to comply!

I’m a mother of 3. 1 takes dance, 1 takes gymnastics and 1 plays travel baseball and basketball. Busy is not in my vocabulary. Crazy is more like my life. Being able to count on Faulkners for 2 of our 3 kids is very important to us. Knowing that the kids are receiving the correct training and guidance is what means the most. I am very pleased with the progress the girls have made with only doing dance and gym for a little over a year. Two + years ago, I enrolled my 2 children at Faulkner's. The children loved going and I was absolutely OK with the money required - I understand what it takes to build a 14000 sq. ft. facility, a very nice one, pay your staff, etc. I considered that we were helping them to stay in business and serve their community. The problem arose when I inquired about the cost of a recital outfit that appeared to be posted on their bulletin board as one price & I am there to write the check & the price quoted verbally was different - only about $15 different, which truly doesn't trouble me. I simply was trying to understand it. Mike was polite to me, walked out of the office to the board, and I could immediately see that I made the error by looking at a price next to another item. No big deal....... As I'm beginning to write the check, Sue became angry that I had questioned the price - red in the face, voice elevated, lamenting that she is sick of parents questioning, and pointed out to me directly that she is so angry that she is shaking. At that point, I communicated in a level voice that I do not appreciate being spoken to in that manner. Here's where it got truly bizarre: their son, Mich, who was standing in the office, turned and ordered me out of the building. My daughter was already in class, I told him this, and he immediately went to the gym and pulled her out of her class. Mike refunded my prepaid tuition on the spot without my requesting it. I felt that Mike was the more reasonable of the 3 of them, and I said to him: "Mike, I truly was not questioning your integrity, I just asked the question----in my heart, I know this". His reply was "Oh, so in your heart you know this......" The entire experience was humiliating, confusing, and Mike with his final words made it belittling. It confused both of my children, and it took weeks for me to think through and evaluate whether I had done something that caused this. Some 2 years later, I realize that it had nothing to do with me - that I just walked into some kind of frustration of theirs and was caught in the "crossfire". I don't wish them any ill will, but I would never recommend them to anyone with children. Interestingly, Mich purports himself to be a public relations specialist. Hmmm.......

Winning, Dedication, Consistency, Training, Friends, Safety, Personality were all the factors that my husband and I were looking for when it came to our three kids. Moving from South Carolina three years ago we had to find a quality dance and gym program. We were opened to a dance studio and a gymnastics facility. We transported two of our girls four days a week to dance and our other daughter to gymnastics four days at another facility. When we moved from SC to Mebane we decided to give Faulkners a try. The reputation and the quality is what we were looking for. My husband and I both agree that Faulkners is definetly what they are made out to be. Our two dancers are doing fantastic on the dance company and our other daughter is doing great on the gym program. The phrase that Faulkners states “One Stop Shop” is awesome. We are able to have all three girls doing what they live all in the same building. Two dance completions done and the girls did great. Five gym meets completed and our daughter did great. Please consider other dance companies. From the outset, we felt like this business was not well organized and was far, far too expensive. We started off trying both dance and gymnastics but quickly gave up on gym as our daughters seemed to be basically ignored and were afraid of the equipment and unsure of the techniques. We stuck to dance for a while, but finally threw in the towel. The expenses just kept adding up, and finding out that we had to pay to see their recital (and quite a bit I might add) after we had already spent so much on the classes was the last straw for me. I agree with other reviews in that it seemed like the lessons were merely just learning the recital routine and not really learning the art of dance. I asked for a refund of the next month's classes, which I already paid for, and the last month's classes, which you are forced to pay for the first month you start, and was told the money was nonrefundable. Yes, upon checking it does state that in the "handbook" we were given at the beginning of the program that there are no refunds (which in my opinion was not well put together). I have not had a bad experience with Mr. Faulkner personally. He seemed nice and attentive, always greeting me cheerfully by name, but I do feel that Mrs. Faulkner is not the politest person I've ever met or particularly customer service oriented. I had high hopes for both my girls to learn and get excited about gymnastics and dance, and both their dad and I are just very disappointed with this whole experience.

Amazing well run studio compared to other studios and gyms in Orange, Alamance and Durham counties. Excellent instructors and facility. Fun atmosphere and producing strong dancers and gymnasts. Tried 4 dance studios that included three in North Carolina and one in Arizona. We lived in Arizona before we moved to North Carolina. My two girls have really enjoyed the experience at Faulkners for the last three years. One being in middle school and one being in elementary was a big transition for one of the girls but she was able to transition with school and gym. The other daughter is dancer going into sixth grade in the Fall of 2018. Faulkners is very dedicated in making sure the students work hard in ththe class room. Coach Mitch makes sure on a regular basis that the gymnasts are doing well in th classroom. Impressed with the entire situation at the studio.

It’s been a great Fall and Winter (2018). My two daughters attend Faulkners Dance & Gymnastics In Hillsborough. Once of my daughters is on Dance Company and the other daughter is on Gym Team. This year has been a great experience for both. After two years for each daughter at Faulkners they continue to shine. The dancer won her first solo of her career as well as placing well in her three dancers. My gymnast placed well enough to qualify for States 2018. The pressure the girls put themselves under to be good is something my wife and I admire. We are very thankful for Faulkners. The staffing and teaching is very good.

Timing is everything. My daughter left a gym in Durham after three years of training. Had a very bad experience the last year we attended the gym. We went to Faulkners and found the guidance we needed. Like the smaller classes and the Head Coach works with all gymnasts. Can I give this place negative reviews? Their classes are a joke. My son tried to take an entry-level hip hop class, but the instructor taught the class of 8 and 9 year old boys as though they were experts. By the end of the class, all but one of the boys were sitting against the wall, having given up in frustration. At the same time, I enrolled my son in a tumbling class. Tumbling? Ha! Turns out I'm paying $60 a month for him to jump on a trampoline. Speaking of payments -- the owners charge for two months of class when you register. They call it "first and last month's payment." Well that's great. When I notified them that this was my son's last month, I was told that the "last month's payment" was not refundable. What? So for one of these months, I paid $120 for my son to jump on a trampoline 4x. The owners are constantly money mongering. They expect payment in advance of the month of classes. So when I enrolled my son, I paid for that month (well, paid double for that month as it turns out). Before the month was done, they were asking for payment again -- for the next month. I had assumed that March's payment would be due on March 1, April's payment would be due April 1, etc. No. March's payment is due in February, April's payment is due in March. If you pay for April's classes on April 1, they make sure to tell you that your payment is past due. Who else functions this way? The best advice I can give to anyone considering this gym is to look somewhere else. There are many other fantastic gymnastics and dance studios in the area, and I know from experience that these other studios have much better business practices.

My daughter attended Faulkners for 3 years and at the time we were convinced we were not getting the correct training and that Faulkners fees were to expensive. We assumed Faulkners Gymnastics program was producing high level gymnasts. We ended up leaving Faulkners for a facility in Chapel Hill for a year and then a facility in Durham. We wanted to find the perfect spot for our daughter for gymnastics. For those two years we ended up spending more money, not learning new skills but loosing skills and not getting the training we had hoped. Now 2 years later we have returned to Faulkners. My daughter along with me and my husband realized that we made the mistake of leaving. As we look back we did not realize how dedicated the Faulkners staff was. My daughter really connects well with Coach Mich in the gym. He makes competitive practice fun but also very disciplined. When we returned we were pleasantly surprised to see how many high level gymnasts were in the gym. We are glad to be back and excited to see what the future will produce for our daughter.

Enlightened Mom

Although Faulkner's does take some of their gymnasts to lower, introductory level competitions, they are really just a glorified recreational program. In fact, all of their gymnasts get "stuck" at about a (poorly executed) JO Level 5. They don't even take their gymnasts to sanctioned meets beyond lower xcel levels anymore because they just can't compare to other "real" gyms at that level. The program lacks proper conditioning and strengthening and fails to offer proper progressions and drills needed to really develop strong skills in a safe manner. They really need to hire other coaches with more experience but won't invest the money in the program like they should (rather invest in vacation homes & cars, etc..) Unfortunately, we are entering competition season now and a gym switch is not possible until spring- but as soon as we can we will be looking for other options. I wish I had been more knowledgeable when we started a few years ago, but I recently became friends with a parent at another gym and after comparing the two programs I am infuriated that I am paying almost twice as much a year for this 2nd rate program! I hope this review will save others the expense and disappointment because 99% of the positive reviews you'll find about them online are actually written by the Faulkners family themselves! FYI!

New to the area. Moved in January 2018. Been a big transition for my family. My daughter switched schools and dance studio as well as trying to make new friends all since January. It has been hard on the family but it has all worked out. Moving from Los Angeles to North Carolina has been a huge change but it was well worth it for my husband and our family. We began our moving process in October and actually moved the 1st week of January. The two biggest priorities were finding a good school and dance studio. We tried five dance studios and and looked into four schools. After two trips my daughter has found the school and studio she wanted. Dancing is a major priority in our daughters life. She wants to dance in college and broadway in the future. Going into 7th grade gives her plenary of time to get prepared for he goals. When researching studios we looked for reputation, training, facility and staffing. We could that and more at Faulkner. We have been very pleased with the outcome so far. We were impressed with how many former students are dancing at the college level.
