I’ve been with Downtown from its inception and seen the way it’s grown. Under the amazing heartfelt and warm leadership of Artur, it’s grown immensely with a fantastic team of teachers and dancers. Sveta, Katya, Goran, Misha and Tanya are all amazing and they have just now added the potent professional competitors Nikita and Katya. They are super talented and I can’t wait to see where they go!

I walked into this studio about 6 months ago, having no idea that it would become one of my central passions. Artur and Sveta are my dance teachers and with them, my dance partner and I have learned so much and exponentially improved. More than that, we have so much fun at each lesson! Going to dance class has really become one of the highlights of my week and I really can’t thank them enough. The downtown studio is just the best—great people, great vibes, great atmosphere and wine if you come early to class!

I came here to try to impress a girl who was taking dance lessons, and I ended up enjoying it even more than she did! Artur, Sveta, and all of the teachers at the studio are amazing! Not only are they great coaches who can teach all different kinds of dance, they’re super nice, caring, funny people who treat all of their students like family. It probably explains why plenty of people have been coming here for years, and attend not only lessons, but also parties and competitions in the studio and around the city. You can come as a pair or solo - handy for those trying to impress a partner or someone completely new on a Saturday night out So glad I gave it a shot, and can’t wait to see what they teach me next!

My hubby & I signed up for beginner lessons at Fred Astaire Downtown and have never looked back! Unless it's for waltzing that is ;-). Now a lot depends on the instructors & we can highly recommend ALL the wonderful teachers here. Co-owned by professional dancing partners (and real-life couples) Svetlana and Artur, Tanya and Misha, you’re guaranteed a super warm welcome, encouragement and positivity from the get-go. The school focuses on private dance lessons, whether for individuals or couples, and offers a number of packages, including wedding dances. We bought 5 lessons that works out to around $115 per 45 minute class. But packages also include as many group practice classes as you want, plus regular parties! At time of writing, group practices are each Monday, Wednesday and Friday evening for an hour, and provide a great way to brush up between lessons on different techniques like foot/arm work for all types of the Smooth & Rhythm classes offered. The regular social parties - e.g. for Valentine's / St Patrick's Day / Christmas also offer a chance to practice by dancing with your own partner/other students/instructors and always include some fun group routines. Got a Living Social voucher for this place when I was visiting New York with my boyfriend for our anniversary. We're both lacking in rhythm, but Svetlana was patient, positive, and attentive. She taught us a few basics for three different styles of dance, and it was a great intro to dancing. If you're local, and you want to try something new with your partner (or by yourself) just because, this is a great hobby and skill to learn. Very fun!

They are so welcoming, you instantly feel part of the family like you were one of the members for ever. The dancing is perfectly tailored on who you are and what you want to do or be. They challenge you and then, surprise you anytime you succeed in dancing some new steps you never thought you could ever do. Misha and Artur are the best teachers I could ever wanted, so different from each other and from me as well, but who perfectly match and understand what I want and how to make me dance. it’s not important your background either you danced before in your life or never stepped on a dance floor, their 360 degrees knowledge and expertise will surprise you covering all the dance styles even if you want to be delighted and challenged by some acrobatic tricks, this is the right place to rock! I strongly recommend to stop by and start dancing in this nice environment where you can also meet very nice people sharing with you the love for dancing and, why not, even a glass of wine!

Wow that was fun! As complete novice dancers, Artur got my fiancé and I up to speed with a super fun routine for our first dance at our wedding. The whole crew was so friendly and great teachers, they got us ready and comfortable for our wedding in short order. The studio is great with cool city views and plenty of space to move around.

7 months ago, I was looking for some basic exercise that was close to my apartment. I tried this studio since it was only 2 blocks from my apartment and I haven’t stopped dancing since. I’ve lost a ton of weight and now I go 4 times a week. All of the instructors are so friendly and passionate about ballroom dancing. They made me feel like a great dancer ever since the very first lesson.

This place is fantastic. The owners/teachers are outstandingly friendly and patient. My dance partner and I started started private lessons in September. We had never danced together before, but we both feel we have picked up enough to get on the floor without my stepping on her toes for salsa, rumba, hustle, foxtrot, swing, waltz and cha cha. We even picked up the basics of the tango. We are now working on learning new steps in one dance per lesson. Yesterday's was salsa and in our next lesson we will concentrate on the rumba. When we have time, we attend the Tuesday and Friday free group lessons. They also have several special events throughout each month. The Halloween party was a lot of fun. It is good to be with people of all ages practicing and having fun.

My boyfriend walked in with no rhythm or ability to dance whatsoever and now we have learned a dance routine and he even sways properly with the music at concerts. We have seen so much improvement and it is such a bonus to put effort toward something fun and enriching together. The team is THE BEST and we are having THE BEST time! We love going to the studio - always feels like you are visiting family. If you sign up for packages there are free classes three times a week and they often throw fun parties. There are now six instructors which ensures you will find the pro that is perfect for you and your style!
