My two daughters have taken dance at three other dance schools over the years, all of which are far superior to Step Above Most. I am only giving this school one star because I'm forced to, and I would never recommend it to anyone. The ballet technique at Step Above Most is subpar. The proper ballet language is not used nor taught in class, they do not even have a barre in one of the two dance rooms, which makes it difficult to learn proper technique. The rooms get so wet with sweat that several times the girls slipped and fell while on Pointe, which is extremely dangerous. The worst part about this dance school however is the director/owner, Samantha Vachon MacNaughton. She was overcharging all year, and when we finally confronted her about it, she blatantly lied to us and never apologized. She then proceeded to berate and belittle our two daughters in almost every one of their classes for the rest of the year, apparently out of retaliation to us questioning her. She is never wrong in her eyes, and always blames someone else. Then to top it off, after the recital she handed my daughters each a card telling them that they were no longer welcome at her dance school, and to not come back. What kind of a woman does that to young girls? It was very embarrassing and unkind and I highly recommend you look at a different dance school. I wouldn't wish any children around this women, ever.

Our 2 daughters have learned so much here in the past three years. They take tap and ballet, and look forward to their classes each week. As expected they've learned a lot about dance, but as most sports, and activities they learn more than that. The learned how to listen to the instructor, have confidence in getting outside their comfort zone, be it learning a new dance step, part of a routine. Their classmates are their team mates and need to get along, cheer them on. The teacher are able to push their limits without overtaxing them. I would recommend this to dace studio to anyone who is considering enrolling their child into the programs they offer. P.S. They also offer adult classes and the adults who perform at the annual recital also are quite accomplished.
