Motions Dance Academy is a fantastic place for girls of all ages to learn the art of dance in a fun and upbeat environment. I danced there for many years and I feel as though I have gained valuable skills other than just dance technique. I HIGHLY recommend Motions Dance Academy for all girls who want to have fun while also learn about dance!

I went to Motions for 13 years starting when I was 3. In my time there I can't really say I learned much. The teaching at this dance academy is honestly so lazily thrown together. When I was in advanced classes I felt like our dances were the same repetitive nonsense there was no structure, the advanced classes felt like repeats of beginner classes. While friends of mine were learning so much at other dance academies and were getting really good, I felt left behind. Melissa hardcore plays favorites with her students, you could tell who she liked and it was always the kids that are in every class imaginable and obviously funding her paycheck. The actual studio is tiny, Melissa would rather herself live in a nice house than her students have a proper studio. When we would have rehearsals of our recitals in the studio everyone would be packed in, you weren't allowed to bring anything other than your shoes and children would be sitting on the stage and you'd risk kicking them. When it came to recital younger students would struggle to actually perform and this is a result of poor teaching. I understand that there is limited times for classes, but it is basic psychology that repetition is the key to learning and obviously there is not enough repetition happening. Overall I did not hate my experience there. Just be warned that you literally get what you pay for and if you want your kid to actually learn send them to a dance academy that is strict. EDIT: Melissa, you really think id give my ACTUAL name? Thats asking for trouble. it was a bad experience. A real waste of my time! thanks! left your studio with self esteem issues

My daughter started dance at Motions in the 4th grade it was highly recommended to me since we were new to town and trying to find something for her to do and she wanted dance. Since starting at motions her self confidence has improved and I couldn’t ask for better dance instructors then what she has. They are always encouraging them to do their best and they will also correct them if they make a mistake.

I have four granddaughters that have taken dance lessons at Motions over the last seven years. I have went to every recital each spring and have enjoyed watching the girls dance. What fun to see the girls self esteem grow as they perform on stage. The girls love dancing and it is so fun to see the skill level change from year to year.

Absolutely love this studio. Over the last 7yrs we have had 3 girls dance at this studio; from her 2gether class up to 2nd yr pointe. Melissa and the teachers all encourage/build not only skill and technique, but a true passion for dancing. The staff all make efforts in knowing each of the dancers strengths, weaknesses and interests. Love the open floor studio concept. Very family friendly. I love that we are welcome and encouraged to watch our children each week in class.

Melissa welcomes all dancers who are eager to learn. My daughter has made many great friends in her time at Motions. My daughter absolutely loves to dance, loves Motions and adores Melissa!! She has been dancing since she was 3, and is now 10. She has been at Motions going on 4 years now and loves it more every year! She has become a beautiful and confident dancer, and I give all that credit to Melissa and Motions. I have been to other dance studio recitals and I have enjoyed watching Motions the most!! The dances are FUN and their costumes are beautiful, and age appropriate!! I have recommended and will continue to recommend Melissa and Motions to anyone who is looking for a great studio! You won't be disappointed. As far as one of the previous reviews goes...why would you ever stay at a studio for 13 years if you are so unhappy with where you are at and at a place that gave you self esteem issues? Just wondering.

My daughter, Audrey has danced at Motions for 15 years, since she was 2. Melissa and her staff have instructed Audrey in ballet, tap, jazz, pointe, lyrical, and hip hop. They have fostered her natural raw talent and passion and she has become a beautiful dancer. Equally important to note is that Melissa and her staff, Lindsay, Katelyn, Erin, Lauren, and Sydney have created a warm, welcoming, positive, family atmosphere unlike any other studio in Lincoln. My daughter has a family of dance friends and mentors who have supported her through challenging times both with dance and in life in general. Audrey is a poised, confident, and kind young woman, thanks in part to the influence of Melissa and the teachers and students at Motions.
