This Valentines Day, my cousin and I went to Costa Rica Ballroom for the first time. The space is unique and inviting. Eli welcomed us and we took a beginner salsa class. When the class ended, my cousin and I were pumped and ready for more. Eli invited us to stay for an intermediate class that started right after ours free of charge. We learned a full dance sequence and had a great time! The instructors were knowledgeable, positive and had a good sense of humor. We will be returning!

So happy we found them! Don't be fooled by their name, they do so much more than Latin dance. My fiancé and I took private lessons here for our upcoming first dance. Both of us had no prior experience. They taught us several different steps and helped us come up with a routine that works for us.

My fiance and I started with 2 private lessons for $99. We took our private lessons with Rebecca and she was great. She was patient with us and very encouraging. We learned the basics of the foxtrot, waltz, single swing, and club salsa. The Private lesson were the most beneficial to us. The group lessons reinforce and review what you learn in the private lessons and also give you an opportunity to switch partners if you want (they encourage switching but you don't have to if you don't feel comfortable). In the practice session, they turn the lights down and it is like a dance party. The instructors float around and give you tips or help you if they notice you doing something wrong. Also, at each practice session, a couple of the instructors demonstrate each of the learning levels, and they look awesome floating across the dance floor. We love Costa Rica Ballroom.

In particular, I've had the pleasure of participaring in group classes taught by Eliezer, the owner of the studio. He is amazingly talented yet humble in his skill level. I have been dancing at the Costa Rica Ballroom for 9 months now. I do not think you will find a better, more friendly and professional group of instructors anywhere. They are all superb!! My instructor is Jacki. I can't say enough about this talented young lady. She has taught me at least 7 different dances and we are working on more. She has danced competition and applies all of her knowledge into her lessons. Jacki really, really cares that her students learn what she is teaching. She is fun to dance with and when you get a smile and a high 5 from her you know you did something right. I always look forward to my lessons with Jacki and I hope to have many, many more with her. Before I end my review I have to talk about Rebecca. She and her husband Eli are owners of the Costa Rica Ballroom. Rebecca and Eli dance professionally and competition. Rebecca is pure "high energy". She likes to get a hold of me during the Dance Parties held every Wednesday evening and puts me through my paces and won't let up. She is a riot to dance with and so are her Group lessons. She recently invited me to a Viennese Waltz group lesson, currently above my level, and I had so much fun the way she teaches I actually kept up (mostly) with the other dancers. A very enjoyable experience!!! By far the expert dancer at CRB is Eli.He is an excellent teacher and has so much knowledge to impart to the students he teaches you can easily see why it takes 20's of years or more to get to his level of expertise. All in all, if you want some of the finest instructors, learn to dance to any level you want, have fun and make new friends, all at the same time, YOU NEED TO GET TO THE COSTA RICA BALLROOM!!! Ellie and his wife have an awesome dance studio!! Myslef being a guy that has little experience dancing, they make it easy to understand the movements by getting to know each dancer on a personal level and creating connections between the dance being learned and your own personal strengths!! Not only that but they create a very relaxed, and non-judgemetal atmosphere that allows shy people, like my self, feel comfortable in the space and step outside there comfort zone!! They all felt part of the same machine, except Cost Rica Ballroom who actually took the time to understand our wants and needs instead of just taking us in a back room and asking us which multi-thousand dollar package we wanted. Even though these dance champions take their art seriously, they know how to break things down to small steps that can be easily followed. Daniel is a phenomenal instructor, and his metaphors are excellent (and seemingly limitless). We have a pretty decent understanding of the basics of slow waltz, a touch of single swing, and are really enjoying how well we've been able to learn triple swing most recently. I can't imagine going anywhere else to learn to dance.

Costa Rica Ballroom performs miracles! Never did I think I could ballroom dance because I am so uncoordinated. I have always wanted to learn but thought it would be impossible even though we had tried. My husband is a good dancer and talked me into giving it lessons another try. We were lucky to discover Costa Rica Ballroom and then even luckier to have Rebecca as our instructor. She is so patient and always joyous. She encourages her students and gently corrects missteps without making me feel embarrassed. She has managed something no one else has ever done. We had a great time taking classes at the Costa Rica Ballroom ! It is conviniently located in the downtown of Hopkins, so parking is never a problem. The ballroom is spacious, the environment is very inviting . The team is young, energetic and very professional! The classes are well structured and fun, you get a lot of help and encouragement from the instructors. There are different levels of group lessons, private lessons , and every Wednesday you can put what you’ ve learned into practice during the Dance Party! We are definitely coming back!

Eliecer and his wife, Rebecca, are the owners of CRB and are consistently helpful and accommodating to our needs. The dance floor and sound system are excellent, and we really appreciate their investment in the greatly improved air conditioning in this historic old building in downtown Hopkins. Both Eliecer and Rebecca have put a lot of work into making the atmosphere of their studio into an enjoyable and comfortable place to dance.
