My wife and I took a private lesson with Don. I had so much fun learning more about Bachata and trying out different styles that we could use for our wedding on November 4th, 2017. He was very patient and pushed us beyond our comfort zone to try out new techniques that i wouldn't have thought on doing. If it wasn't for Don, I doubt our dance wouldn't have come out as good as it did that night. Thanks again!! We highly recommend!

I heard about my niece's recital for 3 months, I came especially to see her (sat through 34 performances) but the teacher for Hip Hop (Karlo Lazaro) did not let her out for the second dance because she didn't bring a change of clothes, which the teacher neglected to inform her parents about, even though they had explicitly asked to please be informed of changes as they were not able to come to the last class. It turns out that this change did happen last minute, and the written instructions that had been previously given out were no longer valid. Very unprofessional of the teacher to not let a student out for a hip hop performance when it wasn't even a uniform and every one was wearing different things anyway...."the show must go on" one would think.......I am very disappointed about this teacher at the studio. My sister did speak to the owners about the situation. Ms. Pinky took the time to apologize and they told my sister if she wanted to put my niece in class next season she could come for free, and asked if we wanted her to go to the teacher and make him apologize. We said no, it's too late, just wanted to make sure they talk to him and make him realize the big mistake he made. We were told that this teacher isn't coming back anyways, so that's good, and it's the only thing that made me give 2 more stars rather than just the one I had left before Ms. Pinky made the effort to make sure we were OK, but if anyone ever encounters the same teacher in another studio, be warned that he is very unprofessional, and I would never allow my children in a class that he is teaching! How could he tell an 8 year old that had been looking forward to this day for months that she is not allowed to go dance in the recital when it was HIS fault that the parents did not know about the last minute change in wardrobe. He said "don't worry, you will get a trophy anyway......" Who cares about a silly plastic trophy! What mattered was having her family watch what she had learned in classes all these months. I definitely left feeling very disappointed not having been able to see my niece perform after hearing about this for so long. My niece seemed ok during the time there but definitely later in the afternoon she became more upset about the situation as she went into a place that happened to be playing the song that the teacher did not let her dance...so now instead of being happy when she hears that song (that is played ALL THE TIME) in the radio, she will remember the bad experience due to the incompetence of this person.

I have danced at Avant Garde for the past year. The instructors are truly consummate professionals who are patient no matter your skill level (including NO EXPERIENCE). My coach is a superb technician but keeps it fun with the joy of DANCING being foremost. We just returned from a competition at which all the students performed in an outstanding manner; it was a thrill. The studio is very nice and well kept...very bright with a great floor and ample, free parking. Dancing is a wonderful sport for your mind, body, and soul.

My husband and I are new to this studio after a five year break from ballroom. We've found the other students to be very welcoming and the staff is knowledgable, kind and very patient! They sponsor dances at the studio as well as holiday parties. The crème de la crème of their social activities is a cruise every few years, which we did and enjoyed emensly! I highly recommend Avant Garde to new and seasoned ballroom dancers.

Avant Garde Ballroom Dance Center is a wonderful dance studio! I happened to visit as a matter of curiosity and was immediately hooked. The staff is wonderful, patient and caring. Very talented teachers who soon have you gliding across the floor and feeling confident in your moves and steps. Private lessons as well as the group lessons are fun as well as educational. The Friday dance parties are great as you can not only learn steps, but have the ability to practice them as well with other student attendees. A fun way to spend a Friday evening!

Although I bought a Groupon for Avant Garde, it took me 6 months before I plucked up the courage to pick up the phone to make an appointment for my first lesson. But the people and the studio are so wonderful and welcoming, and most importantly, my instructor Alexei is such a great teacher - and kind and fun and patient as well - that I now have a private lesson every week and I love every minute.

My interest has been primarily in International Ballroom but I've taken lessons in most styles over many years. You wont find more gifted, patient and effective International instructors anywhere. In fact all their instructors have a way of quickly evaluating your specific needs to make the instruction appropriate and relevant and always making the learning experience fun.

My fiance and I have been taking dancing classes for our wedding.When we first walked into the studio we both liked the atmosphere and the enthusiasm of the dance instructors. Their pricing on private lessons was also very reasonable compared to other studios in the area. We have been working with Nick and he has been great. I normally do not like to dance and he makes it fun and easy to learn. Within 5 lessons I have become more comfortable with dancing and have been enjoying learning new steps. I would definitely recommend stopping in and checking out the various classes they offer and definitely check them out if you are looking in the Rockville, MD area for wedding dance lessons. You will not be disappointed.

This is simply the best dance studio in town! Located in N. Bethesda (near White Flint Metro), it is super clean, bright and has beautiful decor! They have super good dance teachers as well, teaching both American and International Style dancing. Alexei, their new talented young teacher from Belarus, brings dancing to a new high level, in both skills and presentation! Highly recommended for both new and seasoned dancers!
