Lovely teachers, and delightful dance companions. This is a wonderful night out with my wife.

This is an incredibly welcoming, inclusive, fun community. Whether you're starting as a complete beginner (that was me) or an old hat @ swing, I can't say enough good things about how inviting the space is and how much of a blast classes and dances are.

I have been taking classes and dancing with Portland Swing Project for a bit over 4 years, pretty much since they first started. Previously, I had no experience in swing dance and decided to take classes for exercise and as a social outlet. Safe to say, I became hooked on swing dancing thanks to the patient teaching style of the instructors and the contagious enthusiasm for all things swing in all the classes they've taught. Over the years we've developed a close knit community of dancers, and the class and dance offerings keep expanding with all the growing interest in Maine. We've had dancers visit from out of state, and some people from PSP travel regularly down to Boston for even more social dancing and workshops. I whole-heartedly endorse PSP to anyone considering classes or just want some fun social dancing with some great folks. If you're on the fence about taking classes, anyone can drop in to a class and try it out to see if they like it.

Gillian & Jenn are fun, energetic and down to earth. The lessons build off each other in a way the makes sense and breaks down the dance into digestible chunks. They work hard to pair the lessons w plenty of opportunities to social dance and the community is light hearted and quirky. If you're looking for a new hobby filled w joy, movement and low stress social interaction, this is definitely something great to try out. No partner needed, everyone dances w everyone!

I never knew how much fun I could have until I discovered Swing dancing, especially the Lindy hop style. I went to my first intro lesson with Portland Swing Project in 2016 and discovered a dance scene I didn't know existed. You can dance 5 nites a week if you want to and after your first 6 weeks of lessons all you want to do is dance! The instructors are all wonderful , there are 30 to 40 people in the classes and by the end of the course you know them all. You only have to pay for the A level beginners classes once but you can repeat them as many times as you want to as a refresher or just to fine tune your dancing. Portland Swing partners with Lindy Maine giving you 3 locations to choose from Portland , Biddeford and Kittery sometimes I go to all three! I think everyone should learn swing dancing!

Learning to dance with the Portland Swing Project has been one of the best experiences of my life!

Gillian and Jen really do an amazing job of breaking down Lindy hop, partner Charleston, and 6 count swing in a relaxed, fun atmosphere. Their Thursday night Stomps at Maine Ballroom are an absolute blast, whether it's a DJ'd night or they've got a live band. I've learned so much from them, and swing dancing is a great way to keep fit, particularly in the winter months.

Gillian and Jen are great teachers and the Portland Swing Dance community is very welcoming. I started taking classes about a year and a half ago and I love it. The beginner classes are a lot of fun because there are so many people and people from true dance beginners to folks who have been dancing for years but never tried swing. Everyone is happy to learn and help each other.
