I take piano and voice lessons with Carolyn Russell, and guitar lessons with Christopher Talley. Both of these instructors are talented musicians, but also gifted in “instructing”. They have the insight and ability to give specific guidance for my improvement and yet at the same time allow the process to be fun. And participating in the group lesson that Chris Talley leads is a great opportunity to learn with others.

My daughter has been attending laapa for 6 months for singing and it has been wonderful. We recently increased our times from 30 mins to the 45 mins and are very pleased. All of the staff is very helpful and works great with the students.

EXCELLENT ACADEMY!!!! My daughter attended NOCCA in New Orleans for one year, but found the commute every day along with her studies was too much. So, we had to look very hard to try and find a music school that could compare to NOCCA and this music school fit perfectly and more! Our daughter loves to go every week and the teachers and staff are exemplary. We are very glad we found this music school!!!! Thank you very much!!!!

My daughter takes tumbling at the Mandeville branch and LOVES it. She looks forward to it all week. The instructor, Megan, is fantastic and the laapa staff work hard to make sure the scheduling/recitals and over-all experience are enjoyable for young children. I'm so glad we found out about this class! Laapa is the best :)

Absolutely love this place. Always wanted to learn to play piano but was afraid I would be too old to start and I was assured I was not. The staff is so friendly and knowledgeable and make you feel like part of a family. The new facilities are amazing as well. I highly recommend, no matter your age, if you have an interest in any musical instrument or singing to check them out. I had so much fun with my instructor, Jennifer, every week that I changed from a 30 minute to a 45 minute lesson every week.

I have been so incredibly pleased with the Mandeville School of Music. Their staff is extremely helpful, polite, and flexible with our ever-changing schedule. Their instructors are very talented, professional, and work so well with children of all ages. The key to keeping a child interested in learning music starts with a great teacher that can hold their attention, make it fun and help them to reach their potential, thereby building their own confidence in their ability. My son started with guitar, loved it so much that he added piano. He's been playing for almost three years now and is turning into quite the talented little musician. Music is so important in a child's overall development, and I can attest that it has helped my son academically as well. I cannot say enough good things about The Mandeville School of Music. I feel blessed that we have this caliber of school right here in our own backyard!

LAAPA has been a pivotal monument in my chIldren’s development. They haven’t attended long, but I already see positive changes in them from attending. I’m very pleased with what they offer my girls and I am always greeted so pleasantly by all of the staff there. I would highly recommend them to any patent looking for an artistic outlet for their child or children.

My daughter has been in Ms. Megan's pre-ballet class for about a month now. She absolutely loves it. Ms. Megan is really sweet and keeps the class entertained, which is hard to do with a group of 4-6 year olds!

My name is Tina Carpenter In Jan of 2017 For a Christmas Present I decided to enroll my Granddaughter for a music class but she was only 2 years old at the time. LAAPA’s staff recommended a small group in a toddler class. Well it turned out to be so much fun that we are still there. My Granddaughter has moved up two levels of music class since then and is now taking private piano lessons with Dr. Vera. We absolutely love her. It has been even more of a wonderful experience then I thought. My whole family is so empressed with my Granddaughter’s accomplishments. Currently taking Savannah’s adult hip hop class! And LOVING it! Savannah works so well with all different levels of dance experience. I was pretty hesitant to take the class at first since I don’t have much of a dance background, but now I really look forward to class every week. She can speed things up and teach you a quick combo or take it slow and work through every step! Also, love the staff! So welcoming & friendly. They’re always following up to better the school and classes! Highly recommended!

Mr. Corey is my daughter's piano teacher at Mandeville school of Music. My daughter can be very shy when working with people she doesnt know, but Mr. Corey definitely has a gift in teaching children music and has made her completely comfortable! Mr. Corey is very knowledgeable, patient, and has great teaching techniques. I watch when my daughter makes a mistake and noticed he always finds away to point out something positive which helps to build her confidence. Learning a new instrument can be tough, but Mr. Corey has made it easy for my daughter and she absolutely loves going to her lessons. She has learned so much and has caught on so much faster than I could have imagined! She is six years old and is developing a great passion for the piano. I am very grateful that we were matched with Mr. Corey, as I believe he has helped her to develop her passion for this instrument!

Her classes keep her engaged and she has made some great friends. I decided to take up the clarinet as I approached retirement. I was somewhat hesitant about doing so because of my age, but after meeting with KC Tuazon, my clarinet teacher, I was immediately put at ease. The Mandeville School of Music has made taking lessons easy and KC has proven to be an excellent teacher. He is knowledgeable, patient, encouraging and has a good sense of humor. No matter how difficult my practice during the week has been, I always leave my lesson with KC feeling I've learned more and made progress. I would recommend the Mandeville School of Music and KC to anyone looking for private clarinet lessons.

My three children have been taking music lessons at the Mandeville School of Music & Dance for the past five-six years or so. The teachers and staff are great and go out of their way to make you feel at home. My oldest son started with piano lessons and currently studies with Dr. Vera. He was enjoying them so much and was constantly humming and singing around the house, so two years ago we got him started in voice lessons with Ms. Rebecca. My daughter also started in piano but then became interested in the violin and singing at summer music camp last year so we switched her over to voice lessons (also Ms. Rebecca) and violin lessons (Dr. Vera). After her lessons were over one week, she happened to notice the dancers practicing in their classroom - the facility has large observation windows (very safe and family friendly environment)- so anyway, she is now enrolled in dance classes with Mrs. Mary too! She’s a bit tired on Thursdays after all of that, but she is loving it and can’t wait to get her first ballerina costume for the recital! Oh and this past September, my five year old son got started in piano (also Dr. Vera). We also just upgraded our old 80’s Kimball piano to a 2008 upright which sounds so much better- now the only problem is that they are competing for bench time! We couldn’t be more pleased with everything.

My son, Andrew, went to LAAPA's Mandeville School of Music summer camp the past two summers, took drum lessons with Mr. KC for a year, and is now taking piano lessons with Mrs. Bethany. He has so much fun and can't wait to perform for his family at the Christmas Concert. The staff at LAAPA are all so nice. Andrew and his dad went to a Louisiana Philiharmonic Concert in New Orleans last weekend and he really enjoyed listening to the music. Here is a picture from that. :)

We have been absolutely thrilled with LAAPA since my daughter started taking in January. She takes piano with Carolyn Russell who is an amazing teacher and coach. Because of Carolyn, my daughter has excelled at piano. She also takes saxophone with Morris who has also been amazing and she has also excelled under his teaching and love for music. She participates in the jazz band and has been a great experience and opportunity for her. We've been so impressed with the caliber of teachers, their love of music and how they want the best for their students. LAAPA AND the staff have all been so supportive, encouraging and accessible all of the time. They've been a blessing to my daughter and to us! Would recommend them to anyone wanting to advance their child's love and gift of music!
