One of us is musically challenged, so learning to dance has been an interesting experience. Kristi has repeatedly demonstrated patience, flexibility, lots of humor and knowledge in all aspects of dance as we make progress in our dancing abilities. It’s a great place to learn and we have fun!!

I have been taking dance lessons, "weekly" with Fred Astaire Quad Cities for 7 years! It has been great fun, super exercise, and I met my gorgeous and talented wife, Geri there. We continue our own private lessons weekly, plus attend the open social and advanced classes! The dance parties are very fun, and the "Showcase" performances are an outstanding expression of dance, plus great entertainment for participants and the audience! Art & Geri!

We've enjoyed our lessons so far and look forward to many more. Everyone is friendly and they work with our hectic schedule and distance we travel. It's well worth the 160 mile round trip we make weekly.

I love this place! If I could give it more than 5 stars I would. Daniel and Kristie are fantastic instructors and I have fun at each private lesson and group lessons. I have learned a lot and plan to continue. The atmosphere is very positive and all instructors are very knowledgeable. I first started coming to get exercise and be more social. I now feel like this is an extended family and can’t wait until the next class. I’m a Addicted to Ballroom addict!

I’ve been taking private and group dance lessons at Fred Astaire Quad Cities for about nine years. My husband, Tom, and I take lessons together, attend the studio’s social events and participate in showcases. I also participate in private lessons and competitions with Fred Astaire professional dancers. These lessons and experiences have increased my confidence, added more friends, and helped with mental and physical exercise. Pam Rutherford-Czinder, studio owner and my primary instructor, has the ability to teach and break down steps and techniques in ways to help students grasp them. Her patience is amazing. The Fred Astaire lessons use a syllabus that builds so it helps students learn progressively and more quickly.

I have been with Pam since 2003 and she has shown me how to move naturally on the dance floor. I was looking for a hobby and tried partner dancing in 2002. Little did I know that it would lead me the best exercise for your health as we age. She is the best technician in the QCA without question.

Love Fred Astaire Quad Cities!

My husband and I have taking lessons for almost 6 years. Pam has been a wonderful instructor. I love that private lessons are so flexible, and you learn what interests you at your own pace. We've also been very impressed with Pam's willingness to accommodate our budget and schedule.

We had so much more fun with dance lessons than we ever could have imagined! We first started off with Kristi just trying to learn basic dance moves and she ended up choreographing an entire first dance for us which was perfect for us! The day of our wedding we were able to share some moves we learned and were able to enjoy ourselves the entire night on the dance floor. Thank you!

I've been taking lessons at Fred Astaire over 7 years and have found it to be tons of fun, a stress reliever, and great exercise. All of the instructors are terrific. Over the years I've taken private and group lessons as well as participated in dance parties where we all have an opportunity to practice dancing with various partners on a crowded dance floor. I've also participated in "showcases" that offer an opportunity to dance a choreographed number (designed by my instructor) in front of an audience. I currently take lessons with Pam who explains the technique of steps so well that even I understand it. :) Chaz, Kristi, and Daniel are also great instructors. They all provide a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere that includes lots of laughter and fun! This is a great studio for beginners and experienced dancers! Come and have fun as a single or with a partner!

We removed our previous review because the business involved posted personally identifiable information about us in response. We assume it was an attempt to have the review removed. Do not do this again. We would like to give our honest and fair review. We are reviewing our personal experience with customer service and scheduling. We are not reviewing the quality of dance instruction of the studio. We had a difficult schedule to be honest and we felt we were treated poorly when asking for help and understanding. Luckily, another studio made it fun and easy without any gripes about our schedule. Please do not post personal information such as my name and special event date in your response. Thank you.

What's great, and most beneficial, is that the staff of Fred Astaire Quad Cities , namely Pam, Kristi, and Daniel, not only teach you the "what" (the moves), but also teaches you the "why" (the physiology behind the moves).

Having lost 2 companions to Cancer, I needed to get active, again. I've ALWAYS wanted to learn how to dance. I choice the introductory course at the Fred Astaire Dance Studio to see if I was still interested. I meant two of the nicest funniest dance instructors, Daniel and Christie. Once I got into a lesson or two, I thought "yes, this is what I want" . Daniel took me under his wing. When you're 75 yrs YOUNG, it's not easy learning new things. He teaches in a way that even me, with my problem with balance, could do. Dancing not only is helping me with my balance problem but has relieved a lot of stress. One thing I found is Ballroom Dancing is also Country Western. A lot of the same steps.. When you learn Ballroom, you are also learning CW. We do the East Coast Swing, the Night Club 2-Step, Fox Trot. They are intermingled. Don't worry if you can't dance a lick or maybe have been told you have 2-left feet or think you are too old. It's true when you hear "If you can WALK, you can DANCE". Look at me. I'm 75 and having a blast!

Fred Astaire quad cities has made learning ball room dancing low pressure and fun. I have been coming since November 2016 and have made actual progress - Thank you Christy and Pam! I honestly thought I was just one of those people who could not dance (In any sort of formal way). Throughout my time with the studio I have missed a couple lessons (without cancelling ahead of time). I have a rotating schedule and completely forgot what day of the week it was (bird brain :-) on a couple of occasions.. They have always been VERY understanding and have rescheduled, within that week, with no monetary penalty.

I had taken three years of group dance lessons in Chicago. When I met my future husband in the Quad Cities, I asked Nick if he would take an introductory lesson to Ball Room Dancing. He agreed and I signed us up with Fred Astaire. From October 2012, we started lessons and loved the Fred Astaire experience. Due to job changes we wound up in a commuter relationship. I travelled back to the Quad Cities to see Nick and dance. We married in 2014 and brought our wedding guests to a December Showcase and danced our first Waltz as a married couple at Fred Astaire to the surprise of all of our dance friends. Pam and Kristi were exceptionally accommodating to us by giving up part of their weekends so that we could have two lessons. Our goal was to take lessons that provided a solid technical foundation. We were able to work at our own pace and found that Pam and Chaz assisted with dance contracts that fit into our budget. The instructors are always very positive and skillfully communicate technique skills and build self confidence on the dance floor. We have been with Kristi for the last several years and could not be happier. Nick and I are now retired and have our lessons during the week, we still commute 4 hours each way every two weeks so we can continue our fantastic lesson experience. We would not be doing this if the experience wasn’t absolutely exceptional. Thank you, Kristi and Pam! Janice and Nick

Learning how to ballroom dance has been a great experience. My husband and I are learning how to dance and having fun while at it. After my first few classes, I did not think I could continue since my ankles and knees were sore. I suffer from acute arthritis and my doctor told me when I was 20 years old that it would gradually worsen. When I was in my 30's, I began to take medicine daily to simply get out of bed and go to work. When I expressed concerns about my arthritis, Kristi as my instructor, taught me a simple exercise. With my feet shoulder width apart, I stand on my tip toes, bend my knees and try to flatten my feet. At first, I could only do this next to a counter for a few seconds. However, I continued to do this daily at home and work for a few minutes increasing the times gradually. It is a great way to gain balance and stretch the muscles supporting your legs and ankles. After 8 months of this simple exercise (and proper dance shoes), I am able to complete the basic dance steps and turns. The instructors at Fred Astaire are incredibly patient and kind. They truly care about their students and I consider them to be my very good friends.

Absolutely thrilled with Fred Estaire Quad Cities!! My husband and I have never taken dance lessons. Christi choreographed our dance to special music for our daughters wedding and walked us through bit by bit with patience and expertise while making it so much fun. Group lessons with Daniel are amazing, fun and he gets so much out of us. We can dance!!! I highly suggest this studio and these wonderful dance teachers to all!

Once on a whim I thought I might dance, To that end I googled, for a studio close, Three I found but Fred Astaire I did chance. Kristi, my instructor, taught me the most, Perception of motion I could create, Without using my arms, or toes-- just my knees. Now I float like boat and spin like a plate, As I whirl across the floor in a fun Viennese! --This place is a lot of fun and the instructors are great. If you think you might like dancing, it’s definitely worth trying.

I have been taking dance lessons from Pam Rutherford at Fred Astaire Quad Cities for alot of years. I have learned so much about dancing and I've met so many wonderful people. They have a great way of teaching all the different types of dance..you can choose as many as you want to learn.. and by learn..I mean learn to dance to correct way so when you go out dancing.. people will compliment you on your dance ability!! Its so much fun!! Take a few lessons and you will be hooked. Dancing is great exercise for your body as well as your mind...if you're dancing..really listening to the music...nothing else matters!! I purchased an introductory package for my wife as a Valentine's Day present. After our first lesson, we had already decided to purchase the beginner's package so that we could continue learning to dance (as we both thoroughly enjoyed it!). Our private instructor Jin is an excellent teacher and easy to work with. We had never danced previously, but his encouragement and attentive teaching helped us to catch on quickly and created a comfortable atmosphere in which to learn. We have also had the pleasure of working with other instructors for group lessons and are impressed with the level of knowledge and expertise offered by the studio. We would highly recommend Fred Astaire to anyone with an interest in dance or just looking to have fun learning a new skill.
