HI! I went to Hawaii for 2 weeks with EF last summer, this was an incredible trip! During the week we had English class and a SPIN-class. I chose Surf-class, because of the school there were surf teachers, this was explorative and the surfing was really fun! Also in English class there was always a good atmosphere, with music, rap, rhyme and interesting discutions,... I learned so much on these 2 weeks! You think about it and you imagine a really nice place, clean, with so many people working there to help you and you do not find it. I had a really difficult time there. I was student at EF Honolulu in summer 2018 and it was the best 6 months of my life! I met amazing people from all around the world and had breathtaking experiences. I tried surfing and it was one of the coolest things I’ve ever done. The hikes in Hawaii are gorgeous and even though I was a bit afraid of the heights I loved it. Also traveling to other islands is totally worth it, I personally went to Maui and Kauai with my friends. The people in Hawaii are very kind and friendly and I made lots of local friends as well. I learned so much about other cultures and languages. The staff at school was always very friendly and helpful and some of them actually became my friends. They were always there if you needed help or just wanted to chat. And ofcourse my English got better. After my trip I could say my English was almost fluent. I also did the CAE exam during my stay. I fell in love with Hawaii and I will definitely he back some day.

I had a problem with My accodation The first day, they were understanding, they help me immediately to find a solution. And they put me at the hub first. Then, I went to and amazing host family who made me discover the island, I am still in touch with them. The school isn’t huge, Bur very friendly, you feel like at home. Just at 10 minutes by walk form the famous Waikiki beach, and the barbecue at Army beach with EF. Obviously if I have the chance to go back to Hawaii in few years, I will go back to the EF Honolulu because it’s more than the a simple school, it’s a family !

Le mie note negative sono per il "residence" di dove si dorme, prima sono stato nel HUB che è veramente pessimo, vecchio e lontano dalla scuola, poi ci siamo trasferiti un altra (Wikiki Vista) struttura a 5 minuti dalla scuola, molto bella io avevo una stanza al 17 piano. Nulla da dire sulla pulizia e posizione del (residence dove si dorme), ma è sempre un dormitorio, ed è separato dalla scuola EF inoltre è gestito da un altra agenzia, ecco perché non si vive l'ambiente "college" molto utile per conoscere gente, parlare inglese e vivere una bella esperienza, ecco perché non posso dare più d 3 stelle per l'organizzazione di EF Honolulu. L'école est très moderne, et des ordinateurs sont à disposition lors des heures d'ouverture. D'autre part, l'école est située en plein centre d'Honolulu, à quelques minutes à pied de la célèbre plage de Waikiki Beach. La résidence dans laquelle je logeais en compagnie d'une suédoise, était situé en face de l'école, et proche de toutes les commodités nécessaires. EF m'a suivi avant, pendant, et après mon séjour, j'ai eu la chance d'avoir une conseillère entièrement dédiée, grâce à qui j'ai pu aborder ce séjour en tout tranquilité d'esprit ! Avant mon départ, on m’avait bien entendu vendu du rêve, aussi bien pour les familles d’accueil que pour la qualité des enseignements. Ce rêve s’est très rapidement effondré à mon arrivée. Je vous explique : mon objectif avec ce voyage était d’améliorer mon anglais pour ainsi intégrer une bonne école à la prochaine rentrée scolaire en France. Je souhaitais également découvrir une nouvelle culture (au travers des familles d’accueil par exemple). Ma première famille d’accueil était juste inadmissible. La nourriture qui m’était proposée n’était tout simplement plus comestible puisque certaines fois elle avait été cuisinée il y a plus de 2 semaines. Je suis donc tombé malade durant 2 semaines. Elle ne me fournissait jamais de nourriture le week-end pour le lunch tout en sachant que normalement cela était compris. La maison semblait plutôt attirante d’extérieur mais, une fois encore, à l’intérieur la propreté n’était pas connue de la propriétaire. Les chiens faisaient tout simplement leurs besoins au sol (il fallait donc regarder ou nous mettions les pieds). Après 2 mois dans cette maison je me suis donc enfin décidé à signaler mes problèmes auprès du responsable des logements. Celui-ci m’a dit mot à mot que j’étais le problème et qu’il fallait que j’en parle avec la propriétaire. J’en ai donc discuté avec la propriétaire pour lui dire l’ensemble des problèmes liés à la nourriture (je lui ai également proposé de l’aider à préparer). Malheureusement la situation s'est améliorer uniquement durant 2 jours. La semaine suivante, j’ai donc réitéré. Je suis retourné voir la personne en charge des logements. Après plusieurs jours de discussion il m’a proposé un nouveau logement. Juste avant de déménager, une autre élève m’a fait savoir que ce nouveau logement était clairement pire que dans celui dans lequel je vivais à ce moment puisqu’elle venait de quitter cette famille d’accueil pour les mêmes raisons que les miennes ! Je suis donc resté 1 mois supplémentaire dans cette maison puisque je n’avais pas d’autres solutions. Quelques jours plus tard un nouveau colocataire est arrivé dans ma famille d’accueil et il a très vite constaté les mêmes problèmes. Nous avons donc décidé de changer ensemble de famille d’accueil après avoir été informé avec un autre étudiant qu’il y avait de la place au sein de sa famille d’accueil. Cette nouvelle famille était nettement mieux que la première (dans les premiers moments). Après 2 ou 3 semaines, le propriétaire à changé de comportement. Il ne nous donnait plus grand chose à manger. Pour le matin nous étions limité en quantité (puisque pas assez pour tout les étudiants de la maison : 5 étudiants). Nous devions également acheter certaines choses car il disait que cela coûtait trop cher. Par la suite il a commencé à nous envoyer des messages pour nous signaler que si nous ne rentrions pas avant 22H nous serions expulsés de sa maison. Un week-end il nous a même laissé partir en en ville pour nous envoyer un message 2 minutes plus tard en nous disant qu’il n’était pas utile de rentrer à la maison pour dormir puisque la porte aurait été fermée. L'école et la résidence sont super bien situées (proche de la plage et des commerces), les activités et paysages sont ouf : snorkeling avec dauphins et tortues, randonnées avec vue, possibilité d'aller visiter les îles voisines, etc.; sans compter les « cours d'intérêt spécifique » qui, à côté de l'anglais, permettent de découvrir la culture hawaïenne, apprendre à surfer, à jouer du ukulele, à danser le hula ou encore à faire du yoga ! Une des plus belles expériences de ma vie ! Apprendre l'anglais dans un cadre pareil, c'est un rêve éveillé ! MAHALO EF.
