I have been taking lessons here for the past six years, starting when I was 12. I have worked with three different instructors, and taken lessons with 6 of them over the years, and it is each has shown me a unique style and exciting attitude towards dancing. Whether you are looking for a little more elegance or spring in your step for social dances, or to wow the judges during competitions, this studio is your place. It is also a great community of people, always welcoming and accepting of varying dance abilities at the weekly dance parties.

Great professionals. Do not dance with the" The fly by night studio" I have been here for 8 years. When you want to get good the adult ed programs just cannot give you individual instruction in the latest dance technique. Fads is a truly fun place to get away and find your alter ego, let loose and really laugh a lot. The staff tries to keep it fresh with new themes and competitions and beginner dancers can sample " Broadway" by doing a formation with a group in the studio and perform it together at a regional competition. Everyone bonds into a whole new circle of friends.

I have been dancing here for almost a full year. It started as a dance party with a friend and now I can't believe everything I can do on a dance floor. The instructors are passionate and silly and always keep a smile on your face. Mladjan is my instructor I would recommend him to anyone interested in finding passion in dance, he is amazingly talented and wonderful at teaching his skills no matter how much experience you have. He will find a way to bring out the dancer in you.

I have been taking lessons at Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Mystic since November, 2012. I still remember when I first walked through the doors of the studio dying to learn how to dance. I was pleasantly surprised to be greeted by extremely friendly staff and members. I was very impressed with the dress rehearsal that I had a chance to watch and already started dancing right at my very first visit. More than a year by now, I have been taking lessons and attending the classes at the studio, going there almost every night. The instructors have each been selected for their highly successful and competitive dance background as well as their unique achievements and discipline, thanks to the owner, Vadim Asmolov, who is thriving hard to keep the standards high. They are unquestionably the best dancers and teachers in the area with high qualifications. The current dance instructors, Vadim Asmolov, Caleb Converse, Rusina Stefanova and Martin Nikolov, individually are highly skilled professionals who are also excellent teachers. The previous dance instructors, Juliette, Rogelio and Mekhael were also highly qualified and skilled teachers . I have taken lessons from every one of them and was very pleased with the level of training I received. I cannot help but mention specifically about Mekhael Srour, who first thought me how to dance and express myself, I will always be grateful for the remarkable training he provided. I also feel very fortunate to have Vadim Asmolov as my current teacher who is working very hard to improve my dancing quickly, I have learned so much from him in such a short time. Meghan, the secretary (a.k.a. the hero behind the scenes), is the sweetest person that one can meet, she makes sure everybody is pleased with their personal experience. Moreover, the studio offers an extremely friendly and relaxed environment and provides access to the members who wants to practice whenever it is open. They are open until quite late (9 pm) which makes it very convenient for people who are working full-time. Personally, I have a lot more to say about the studio and its staff. Dancing at Fred Astaire in Mystic not only it enabled me to improve and gain confidence in every aspect of my life, the studio has naturally become like a second home for me. I spend a lot of time at the studio practicing, taking lessons or attending classes. These wonderful people are also very kid-friendly and have always been accommodating to my 5 year old daughter whom I bring to evening classes with me. My daughter also attends the ballet classes thought by Ms. Laureen and is always having a wonderful time there while getting a high-quality dance training. Overall, I would highly recommend the Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Mystic for anybody who wants to learn social and/or competitive dancing, or simply try something different that would positively influence their life. It is unquestionably the best place to get high-quality dance training while having fun.

Owner and staff are friendly and fun. Our instructor Victoria was very good at communicating the dance moves and helping us make the minor corrections to feel more confident dancing. Everbody was always ready to help. For first time dance instruction it was a great choice to go to Fred Astaire in Mystic.

Absolutely love, love LOVE this studio! My husband Brady and I started dancing here about six months ago as we were getting married and looking to have our first dance choreographed. We worked with Vadim, who did such an amazing job putting together a dance for us! Neither Brady nor I had any previous dancing experience . Vadim choreographed a dance that was very easy for us to learn, but still made us look absolutely stunning as we took to the dance floor. During the week Brady and I work with Vicky and Zane during the group lessons. Vicky is a dream to work with, she always has so much energy and is so much fun to work with. Vicky always keeps the classes interesting and is never shy to test our dancing skills with more advanced moves. She really knows how to spice up a dance, and choreographs beautiful routines. Zane's group lesson was the first that Brady and I attended, and it was so much fun and so amazing that it made us keep coming back for more. We didn't know any of the other dancers yet, and Zane made us feel comfortable and welcome. He really teaches with passion, and you can see/feel it as he teaches. He will always slow down and work one on one with you if you have trouble with a particular step, walking you through it slowly until he is sure that you understand it. All in all,: this dance studio is absolutely amazing, and it feels like a second home for us. Brady and I originally came to have our first dance choreographed for us; and we ended up staying because we ended up loving dancing so much. The instructors are amazing to work with, and always so much fun to be around. It's always the highlight of my week when I find myself in the dance studio.

Fred Astaire Dance studio in Mystic has been an extraordinary place to learn to dance over the past 6 months. The instructors - Vadim, Kaleb, Christina- are both passionate about dance and gifted in teaching it, adapting lessons to each student’s interests and abilities. Esther is a wonderful student ambassador, orienting you to the studio and services and making you feel welcome from the start! It’s been beautiful to watch the joy, talent and excitement of dancing among the instructors & students’ during weekly Friday night dances and the instructor/student performances. The enthusiasm is contagious! I’ve always loved to dance, and now even more so through my experience here. It’s also been a great place to meet new friends, socialize and have fun. There’s a wonderful sense of community and a spirit of fun at this studio that I haven’t found at others. This makes the FA dance studio in Mystic quite extraordinary. Come and see for yourself!

There are many reasons people are looking for a dance studio. It ranges from a desire to prepare for a specific special occasion like a wedding/anniversary, or .. just to learn how to be a social dancer, or maybe a seasoned dancer who just wants to hone his/her skills. Whatever the reason may be, we all look for a place where we're accepted, not judged, and treated like the celebrities we know we are :). Needless to say, FADS in Mystic turned out to be exactly that. Doesn't matter who you are, what your skill level is, the instructors here have a unique way of making you feel important and make you forget whatever shortcomings you think you have - they make lessons FUN while at the same time teach you the things you need to know, at the pace you need. I couldn't be more grateful to have found this place. I may never leave (they may kick me out one day, but I'll deal with that when the time comes :) )

If you want to learn how to dance definitely come here and ask for Hannah, she went above and beyond to make the experience fun, rewarding, and made learning easy. All sales have to go through the owner which was a frustrating experience and left us wishing it could have been more straight forward. If you want a great experience try out their introductory offer, it is a great value, especially if you ask for Hannah!

I have been taking lessons at the Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Mystic since they opened 10 years ago. That should be an indicator as to how highly I regard it. The talented instructors are of the highest quality and the owner Vadim works hard consistently to keep the standards first-rate. He and his intructors make every class enjoyable and challenging. Furthermore, the atmosphere is always warm, convivial, and light-hearted whether I'm there to take a lesson, join a group class, participate in an event or just practice. There is something for everyone: learning to social dance, competing in a regional competition, and enjoying frequent extracurricular activities. I have also been taking the adult ballet class Ms. Loreen has been teaching for some time now and find that as delightful and awesome as my regular ballroom activities.

I absolutely LOVE the Fred Astaire dance studio in Mystic. I was looking for something fun to do as a hobby and now I'm hooked on ballroom dancing! This dance studio is different from other studios I've been to, because their teaching method really focuses on personalization and technique. The teachers (Vadim, Caleb, Rusina, and Martin) are world class dancers and fantastic instructors, and everyone here is really nice. The instructors are top notch, very friendly, and tailor their style to your individual needs. The other students make you feel very welcome as well. I have been ballroom dancing for about 5 years, and this is by far my favorite studio. The instructors are extremely talented and hands on with their teaching approach. My husband and I have been taking dance lessons for 5 years. We started as something to do besides going out to dinner. (Lots of great choices here in Mystic.) And we have continued because we love it. The teachers are great. Good at their craft and really nice people. For myself, besides the joy of dancing; the exercise benefit had been great. Toning and weight loss have been amazing. Try it, Thursday Night is Guest Night. No cost !!! They have also started swing and salsa classes, Wednesday and Friday nights at 6:45, open to the public for minimal fee -- lots of fun. Look forward to meeting you.

I started taking dance last December, and may I just say it was one of the best decisions I've made. From day one the Fred Astaire staff and fellow dancers have taken me in like I was family. They all bring such unique qualities to the studio. There's Caleb who makes sure you know that dance is fun, Rusina who helps you know that dance is sexy, and Ester who is sure to make you feel like you belong even over the phone. Then of course there was my teacher Vadim. I'm so lucky to have had the honor of being his student. With him I competed in my first competition, and that is one of the best nights of my life. No joke after spending 4 months practicing my Tango nothing made me happier than actually getting out there and performing it. He is the exact level of strict that I needed to push me to do my very best. Not only have I learned ballroom dance, but I've gained a confidence I never knew I had. I've gone from being insecure about getting all dressed up, to wearing heels at least three times a week. This is a big deal for me because I've always been told that tall girls don't belong in heels. Vadim made sure I knew that wasn't true,and I'm so grateful for him. It breaks my heart that I have leave so soon because I know he still has so much more to teach me. I encourage anyone who wants to try something new to take a trip to Fred Astaire in Mystic/Stonington. I know that you will enjoy it as much as I did! As a shy, introverted person Fred Astaire Mystic has helped me come out of my shell. The instructors are very friendly, extremely knowledgeable, and are amazingly patient with those of us who didn't really know how to dance. The students are very friendly and welcoming. They are always there to help and answer any questions you may have about a step. This studio has become family to me. I highly recommend this studio!
