Below I'll give context and positives too but if ya don't want to read here's a summary of the not great
- most often no water
- or cleaner for poles and sometimes mats in the past, dirty rags
- floors can dirty your feet sometimes
- Classes canceled way too often
- They can choose to cancel if attendence is low and or you show up too close to class start
- Membership you sign up for may not include all class types you wanted later in membership
- Classes can be basic or beginner or sloppy with not much progression, just minimal upkeep to basic skills (speaking on dance, fitness classes good mostly but sometimes same choreo goes too many weeks)
- Not enough actual dance classes or they cost extra as workshops
- Some teachers aren't skilled in quality teaching or prepare much or are just going through the motions or not motivational (but mostly good and some are great.)
- Owner abruptly ended membership without consultation or communication concerning a perceived issue I feel as adults could be easily made clear and remedied. Effectively only taking in one data source, not all. (Like if you were fired by one input without them asking YOU yours and reviewing the camera footage.) This would be fine but for it being the only option locally. It could also be viewed as retaliatory, given no space for resolve. But doubtful.
- Pole class days limited to only three days forcing us trying to progress to stagnate or be overworked where classes are doubled in schedule. I believe it also limits attendance and access and though teachers seemed open to space them out, it was never offered nor was a reason against it offered.
A loving but realistic review of this studio. It's a mountain town studio, not a city. You'll get what you get and they are not comfortable with suggestions or input it seems. When I offered input and also echoed sentiments repeated to me from other classmates and teachers I was usually met with non answers. What you sign up for may not be what you get months later as their teachers come and go and don't always get replaced or quickly replaced. I was with them almost a year and you won't get far with dance. It also may not be what you get that day as cancels are too often imo. I've had 5 cancels in one week once. Though it's often only one or so. I was canceled on for valid but mostly invalid reasons. It's not my fault their attendance is low, and the time they can cancel before class starts is too much, it should be 5 min or start time. I've also had teacher lie about this. Choreo classes are often created rushed or last minute it feels and statements also reflect that. I felt I was asking for the minimum, classes I paid for to be avail, water, cleanliness, and progression and professionalism. I would not be sharing this info if also I had been communicated to that there was even an issue or given a chance to clear the communication and fix it. I do believe the owner is doing the best they believe and wants to do good, and mostly does. Active in the community. I have no ill will and appreciated my time. I felt wronged by their choice without taking me into the equation. Being recieved in a way I was not meaning and having it easy to make me the problem instead of your service is easy though and a standard mistake we humans do. I don't mind owning this review on the internet forever. It is true to fact and experience. For my personal bad experience I'd rate less but I'd like to rate based on a more objective view. This is a solid middle of the lane studio with room for improvement but not very open to it. It's seems people will take a polite or plain question or suggestion as a personal affront to their teaching or humanity. Not what you want to do as a teacher or adult. Input equals improvement. I want to illustrate I'm no jilted ridiculous damanding customer and context matters. The people are good people.
