I took my first lesson with Black Belt Salsa two years ago and quickly became an apprentice in their teaching program. I loved the curriculum and how the lessons taught you technique and intention as a follow and lead, instead of just rushing through patterns not really knowing how to execute the move. Thanks to BBS I unlocked one of my life passions and highly recommend it to anyone who wants to rock it on the dance floor!

Stephen Shaw

Our experience was great. The instructor gave us lessons in our hotel suite. She communicated well throughout the whole process. The food and gifts she provided were excellent. She was a great teacher and we throughly enjoyed ourselves. We highly recommend this package.

Melinda Redenius

Had a blast even though we stumbled upon a black tie masquerade night in regular day clothes. Learned some great fundamental tips from Jesse, and then had the opportunity to dance with 6 different people. We will be back!

I have only been going to BBS Salsa for 2 months and i'm already hitting the clubs. I didn't have any dancing experience before BBS Salsa.

This is a very complete and well-thought out system for learning Salsa dance in the two most popular linear styles (L.A. style and New York style). There are eight or so different levels taught concurrently in small groups, so dancers at all skill levels can advance through the various levels (labeled by "belt colors".) Some of the best Salsa dancers you'll see at the clubs in Denver have come up through this program. It's a very friendly environment with a fun social after the classes. No partner is necessary, because students rotate during the class. However, if you want to bring your sweetie, that works too. The facility is among the biggest dance ballrooms in Colorado - the floor is excellent, and there is plenty of room in the well-lit parking lot.

Nicholas Yuan

Absolutely fantastic - if you want to learn how to Salsa, this is the place to do it!

Nicholas Pipiringos

I'm so happy I found such a great way to learn salsa! Edie the salsa freak is an amazing world renowned salsa dancer and teacher!!! Her curriculum is the Black Belt System or BBS for short and will progress you fast and give you the skills to go impress people!

I could never dance prior to meeting Eddie. I was always the guy with two left feet. Now I feel soooo much more confident on the dance floor it's hard to believe at times. I would recommend her hands down!

Definitely recommend. They have a well-organized and structured curriculum, and an interesting and effective martial arts alike system, you need to test out to go to the next level~ Both dancing on one and on two are taught. During my time here I learned all my basics, and many other things, like ladies styling, spinning techniques, musicality, and connection. I also made a lot of friends. Edie is not only a great instructor, but also a very nice and warm person. The atmosphere here feels like a family. After group lesson they have social dancing, at the same time dinner is provided, usually pizza and a vegetables and fruits. If you are a beginner looking for a place to start learning Salsa(they teach a little bit of Bachata and Merengei too), it's a percent place to go to. Don't be intimidated, every one is super friendly. If not a beginner, you'll be assigned to different level of classes to dance with people with similar level of experience.

I discovered BBS for myself about 10 months ago. And Tuesday is my favorite day of the week ever since! Black Belt system consists of step by step instructions and different levels (belts). Once you completed all the classes in one level, you can test out and transfer to the next one. This way you perfect every move. Last Tuesday of every month there is a Dress to Impress party, and about once a month or so, there is an event, like Masquerade, Halloween, "wear all white" Christmas, Valentine's day, St. Patrick's Day etc., when everyone can have some extra FUN! After the class there is always dinner consisting of various dishes including fresh fruit and veggies, and social dancing so everyone can practice the moves they learned. Occasionally Edie does workshops on Sundays, ex.g. Ladies Styling, Spinning workshop, bootcamp for beginners etc. All great workshops to attend. Quite often Edie also invites dancers, performers, other instructors from other schools, musicians to teach her students about different aspects of dance as an art. BBS is also a fabulous SOCIAL event, that makes you forget about your work, stimulates your brain, burns calories, helps you meet lots of amazing people not only from Denver, but from all over the world!

Such a fun studio!! If you’re interested in learning how to salsa, this is definitely the place to go. I can’t wait to go back for another class!!

This is a blast! The instructors were friendly, informative, and made you have fun while learning to Salas. They have a curriculum which makes a ton of success and pairs you with experts as a newbie so you can learn faster. For anyone looking to learn how to Salsa I highly recommend this.

Boni Montano

We had a fun date night learning how to salsa. Everyone was so kind, our instructor Jesse was awesome. He taught us the basics and made it fun! It was a great night of dancing!

Black Belt Salsa is the best way to learn Salsa, Period, end of story.....Edie has developed a serious program of systematic learning that develops the best Salsa dancers in record time. Having been involved with the BBS program for 4 months through the weekly group lessons and a few private lessons I have developed dancing skills that allow me to dance with confidence at the local Salsa clubs here in Denver. Edie's enthusiasm, honesty and mastery of Salsa is inspiring and infectious, simply put, her approach just plain works.

Jesse Greaves-Smith

Black Belt Salsa is the best salsa curriculum in the world. If you want to actually learn salsa this is the way to go. It takes some actual work and dedication, but you learn from a world famous dancer/instructor, have high teacher-student ratios, and learn all the tricks and secrets that make you look and feel incredible on the floor. I wish all dances could be learned at a Black Belt school.

Arnold Crutcher

The teachers are really professional, they have taught my wife how to dance and they were really good.

I grow up thinking that I knew how to dance until the day this girl set me down after 30!seconds and her words were “ you don’t know how to dance “ So I got inspired to learn One thing I didn’t know it’s the basic cross body lead I had no clue I was intimidated by dancers here in Denver and places and I was only doing 4 moves I knew thru the whole song ... well I’m very happy that I made the choice to come here ... I started learning and got intentionally into a private student to focus on me and improve so quick enough I was doing spins with the lady and leading the dance as a gentleman no more roughness or pushy. I keep striving to become better and here I’m not a cumbia dancer but a advarage salsa dancer that enjoys this style of life and the dedication and instruction of this school has wow me to keep improving and shooting to a hell yeah high level someday Thank you Edie the salsa freak I’m very happy that I cross a path with you !

Training with Edie has truly been a life changing experience. My salsa dancing has improved more than I ever imagined possible since coming to BBS. For example, when I went to my first Spins workshop with Edie 6 months ago, I could not even get past doing quarter turns! However, last week my partner was able to put me into 40 spins when we were practicing!!! Edie teaches so much more than just dance though. Through this program, I have been able to accomplish life goals in six month that were on my 10-year plan! I’m so thankful to have this opportunity to train at BBS!

Best place to be in Denver on Tuesday is Black Belt Salsa located on 35th and Federal. You will learn how to salsa, if you don't already know how, from one of the world's best salsa teachers, Edie the Salsa Freak! After the lesson you can dance til midnight with fun and exciting new people. No, you don't need to bring your own dance partner. There are plenty of people to dance with. I love going and look forward to every Tuesday!

Diedra Garcia

We have tried tom2-3 other salsa classes and teachers. Black belt is by far the best contact we have experienced. We learn more, retain more, and have really progressed for the first time. It’s affordable, centrally located, and a great way to meet people too.

Eddie is great and her classes are great. Having a lot of fun and learning lots.

Of course, with Edie, you always get world class instruction with someone who really knows how to break down moves in simple language so that even beginners can understand and follow easily. She provides a great environment and after the class there is a social with food provided that you can practice what you've learned in a friendly atmosphere. I've been with her since before her school started. I've been away a bit recently, but returned and was pleasantly surprised to see the huge turnouts she consistently gets, and the level of instruction has even picked up quite a bit. Kudos to Edie - you won't be disappointed with her school.

Linnea Schmidt

Enjoyable evening that makes it easy for a beginner to join in. Even male to female ratio and everybody dances with everyone, so no need to have a partner. Great way to learn a new skill/enjoy dance.

Kaleb Johnson

The class me and my wife took was amazing and we learned a lot from the instructor Eddie. She was an excellent teacher and we will be attending more class.the environment was fun and energetic with no pressure,we had zero experience dancing when we came in and we were able to learn a ton while having fun. There is simply no better school to start learning how to salsa dance. Edie's curriculum is well thought out, detailed, and progressive. Everything you learn builds on what you've learned previously, and you have a real sense of accomplishment as you move through the belt levels. It's the best system to become a competent dancer exceptionally quickly. I recommend Black Belt Salsa to anyone who asks me how to start salsa dancing.

Brody Koch

I have learned so much from the lead instructors here. It's amazing. I heard about BBS almost 6 years ago and finally was able to join the community and couldn't be happier. The team has been so welcoming and inviting. That's why I strived for 6 years to come here.

Miguel Hernandez

BBS creates a sense of community and this keeps me coming back. It's the best way to spend a Tuesday night.

Chris Ferone

Calculated and thorough apprentices/teachers make Black Belt Salsa a must for anyone desiring to master On2 salsa. I couldn't recommend it more!

Natalia Maida

I recently returned to black belt salsa after traveling around the world for the past couple of years to thank Edie for her salsa program. BBS really taught me the fundamentals of how to dance, allowing me to be adaptable to any style of dance as I danced with varying levels of dancers worldwide due to the fact that she really ingrains in you the foundation of salsa dancing - posture, tension, footing, styling, rhythm / musicality, how to lead / follow. I have now taken classes all over and none of them pay attention to the before mentioned - they only focus on the steps and simple choreography. Knowing the steps without the foundations of salsa dancing or understanding how to connect with the music doesn't get you far in dance and makes it less enjoyable for your dance partner. I'm infinitely grateful to Edie and Black Belt Salsa.

Neymar Lopez

Can't wait for the next Tuesday class!!! Thank you!!!

Salsa with Edie is incredible. There is a well thought out approach to learn to lead and follow , that will work wherever you go in the US or the world. There are classes on 1 and on 2. There are opportunities in apprenticeship to become skilled in teaching salsa. The socials play a great mixture of salsa and bachata hits, Above all it is always fun, exciting and inspirational. I am so glad I decided to come give it a try. I highly recommend Black Belt Salsa workshops and CDs.

Lorena Herrera

I have been an apprentice with Black Belt Salsa since it started. It has been a great experience. I have become a great social dancer in a short time and I always get compliments from all the good leads.

Ellen Bellino

Great time at their Salsa Bootcamp! Knowledgeable instructors and felt like I was taught the right way.

Brunella Castelli

If you want to spend half of the class listening to a long boring sale's pitch from the owner then this is the place to go. All levels are taught at the same time on the same floor. Not very profesional. If you know something about salsa you'll soon realize that this is not a good place to learn real salsa dancing.

Arturo Hernandez

Grace River Yu

Great place to learn salsa dance on 2 with a lot of amazing friendly dancers

Sheila Johnson Wilson

I brought my husband to try out this class. This was our first although we can dance. However, when it comes to this dance class it was a whole new world. It’s not that easy but it’s not that hard as a beginner. We really liked our beginner teacher Jesse!!! We are very busy working but inspired to take those dance classes when we travel on vacation ... you know the ones offered as a resort activity!! We were asked to sit on the floor at one point to hear the explanation of the class curriculum. That’s the reason for 4 stars. Is this worth your time? YES! It was also a great date night!

Black Belt Salsa has become an integral part of my Salsa Dancing Journey. Before Black Belt Salsa, I was boring myself with my bland Salsa dancing and frustrated with the fact that no matter what nothing changed. One day I happened upon Black Belt Salsa and decided to give it a good try. It was a challenge for some time, but I stuck with it. It completely changed my Salsa Dancing for the better. If your looking for a fun class that will skyrocket your Salsa Dancing, look no further, you found it at Black Belt Salsa. See you soon!

Michael Mize

Edie, "The Salsa Freak", taught us so much in the boot camp. We learned New York style basic steps, left side cross body with special attention given to hand and body positioning. It was so much fun we are continuing our salsa adventure at the Tuesday night lessons and social in Denver.

Dina J. Muchnick

My fella and I took their beginner class, and it was lovely! The instructor was funny and helpful, and the head of the program was INCREDIBLE when she showed us what we could work towards in dance. Super inspiring and such a great date night! #lfthx

Ever feel physically and socially awkward on the dance floor? Want an activity to do with your significant other? Don’t have a significant other but want to dance? Love learning new things? Want to get over being super shy with the opposite gender? For all these reasons and more, try Black Belt Salsa. It’s a group class in one big room; you start off with a whole group lesson but then it breaks into smaller groups of different levels so you’re learning with other people that know just as much or as little as you. After class there’s a social dance where everyone can dance with whomever, plus FOOD included with your lesson. It can feel chaotic at first, but both instructors and regular students can help you feel more comfortable if you talk to them. Edie, the creator of this school, is an amazing woman who has performed and taught at more places than I can ever remember to name; she’s incredibly welcoming and tries hard to make this class the best that she can. You don’t need to bring a partner, the instructors are friendly, the atmosphere is casual, amicable, and fun. The system is very kind to shy and awkward people, and dancing for a few hours is great low impact exercise. Salsa teaches you to be mindful of your posture, which can help alleviate neck and back pain (I’m serious!). Plus a good dash of added confidence once you get your steps down and actually feel like you’re dancing, which doesn’t take as long as you might think. If you’re a natural dancer or know salsa already there are people in class or social that are really very good and even perform, so I don’t think you’ll get bored. Salsa has a LOT of different moves and there’s so much room for creativity and self-expression that you can spend a long time learning and honing your craft if you want to move beyond the basic steps. Edie has a great eye for technical skills and has really good ways of explaining these moves. Salsa sexy has the guys feel masculine but always a gentleman, and the ladies get to be feminine while staying classy. I'm telling you, it looks suuuuuper good, and it feels awesome. They also have dress up events, and their parties are a blast! This class has given me much more than moving my feet in time with music. It is therapeutic for me with some good life lessons and I am one of the happy students eager to share this joy.

Claire Parker

The class was super fun, I went alone and had a great time everyone is so nice and welcoming and I learned a lot!

Alli Douglas

Edie is the only salsa instructor in the Denver area with a systematic approach to training anyone how to learn to salsa dance step by step in a tangible, organized fashion that makes it possible for anyone to learn! I've seen several dancers progress significantly whom I knew before they started her program, and clearly seen huge improvements. The program is unique because of the building blocks of the curriculum which I think is a great approach! :D
