I called in order to reserve a tiller and the attendant told me that they would be open until 3 pm, I told her I would be there at 2:30 to get the tiller but I had some questions about the tiller they had. She took my number and told me she would have her manager call me back for more information about the tiller I was wanting to rent. I never received a call from them, I tried calling them back and no one answered. I needed the tiller immediately for a time sensitive project so I made the 45 minute drive and arrived at their business at 2:20. no one was there. I tried calling and got no response. Because I was forgotten I was unable to rent a tiller that week, and since all the other stores were now closed, I ended up losing a couple hundred dollars worth of sod. I was really disappointed in the lack of customer service.

I have rented several times at Northwood Rental and have been treated exceptionally well. Last week I rented equipment that was battery operated and when I picked it up the battery needed charging we rented the equipment anyway and plugged it in when we arrived at the place of use, when we started using the equipment the battery died so we worked at another way and completed the project. We returned the equipment after business hours and used the texting number to let them know we returned the equipment with an explanation of the battery issue. The next business day to my surprise Northwood Rentals responded with an apology and gave us full credit back on the invoice. Again thank you for understanding our frustrations and helping mitigate the charges. We will recommend Northwoods Rentals.

We recently rented an aerator from Northwood. We went with them because they had the best price, and they offered an overnight rental, which was super convenient for us. When we picked up the aerator, it turned out we had been quoted the wrong price over the phone. Northwood was very decent and honored the price we had been quoted. The machine stopped working halfway through our project, and when we took it back to them in the morning, they promptly swapped us out for a different machine (which worked perfectly) and allowed us extra time at no charge so we could finish our yard. While it was frustrating to have these hiccups, they were very good at making things right.

We returned a moving truck there after filling the tank to overflowing less than 1/3 of a mile away. They charged us $34 ($8/gallon) saying the gas must have foamed and it still needed over 4 gallons. They claim there is nothing they can do, it’s just how Penske works. I won’t be doing business with them again. Note: Penske was actually good to work with, it was Northwood Rentals I was unhappy with.

Three times in a row I have rented without being able to do the job. The first the skid steer code for the hydraulics wasn't given, the second time I had to go back because the teeth on the post hole auger were bad, the second wasn't any better. In 4 hours I was able to dig 6 holes. Today I rented a trencher. The chain was so loose that it was bound up more than it worked and the mechanism was welded so that it couldn't be tightened. On my way to try Renegade.

I rented tables and chairs 6 weeks in advance of an event and called at least 4 times to confirm my rentals. I called the morning of the pick up to see if everything was ready to go prior to our 1 hour drive. I was told everything would be loaded in a trailer ready to go for us since we were in a hurry. When we arrived nothing was together, and it seemed like they didn't even know we were coming. There was no trailer so we had to put everything in the back of a truck. The KID running the fork lift ran into 3 different items that belonged to the company while driving, this worried us enough that we helped with the loading to ensure that there would be no damage to the truck. We had very minimal help getting stuff tied down in the truck once they were loaded. The tables were not very clean. It took over an hour to get our rentals loaded. Also, when we got to our event to set up we were shorted a chair, and had to wash the tables. And because I was dissatisfied with the lack of communication and speed of getting our rentals I wrote a small objective review of how I felt at the time we were loaded... While my husband was out loading the rentals (not knowing I had written a review) the owner came out and defensively confronted him informing him that "...We are doing our best, and because you wrote a bad review... You are not welcome back... We don't want your business." The positive: the price was good. For the chairs, it is what it is, our fault was assuming a different style. The negatives: Dirty tables. Very bad communication and customer service.

Northwood Rentals always has what I need when I need it. The staff more often than not are great to work with (however they do get pretty busy at times). After looking at other reviews, it seems like people's biggest issue is "equipment not working." You've got to remember that (1) a lot of people don't know how to use construction equipment, and (2) the person who used this before you was most likely someone who didn't know how to use it, and may have broken it. They've always been willing to work with me, if it didn't work. Just give them a call right away.

Terrible customer service. We dropped the truck off and left the key in their night key box. Next day went in to finalize everything. They can't find the key and blame me. They are going to charge me for a lost key and an extra day. I ask if I can look through their keys and finally they let me. I take the keys out to the truck I used and tried them until I finally found my truck's key. They had mislabeled it!! Instead of owning up to the mistake they said that it is common for Penske Trucks to have the same key and that it was probably another truck's key. We tried it on the other 4 trucks in their truck yard and it didnt work on any of them. Surprise surprise. They finally let me leave without charging my card for an additional day and they didnt make me pay for the lost key, but were rude the whole time. I live close by to Northwood Rentals and I will never use them again and tell all my neighbors to go somewhere else. Terrible ownership.

Not a great experience. Owners (not the staff) have been generally unhelpful and short with me as I've tried to learn what tools I need to finish a certain job. However, I have been able to rent certain items for less than other places. I just wish they were a little more friendly.

Terrible customer service, not how a business should be run. Terrible owners. We rented a dance floor for my sister's wedding, picked it up a day early to relieve some stress, the kid running the forklift had no idea what pieces he needed to give me, looked at me like I was supposed to know which ones to grab. told us to come back if we were missing any but they're only open til 2 on Saturdays. plus I, the customer, shouldn't have to check to see if I have the right pieces.Thats the businesses job. the dance floor was missing most of the screws that held it together so we ended up putting tent stakes around the whole thing to keep it together, utter mess. Very unsatisfied with the rental, let the owner know that when I dropped it off, he blames me for not putting it on a level surface and told me I was the first to complain in 10 years. after reading multiple horrible reviews I think I know who was right in this situation. Definitely go to Renegade Rentals. They at least know how to run a business.

1. Poor customer service, and 2. Intentionally misleading or incompetent. Went in and asked to rent a few costumes, got what I wanted, paid, and then returned them a week later. EXCEPT, while returning the items, I was informed they had actually sold me the costumes (without bothering to mention it at the time). They're getting rid of their costume inventory and (I guess) pawning off their costumes at higher prices on the sly. When I asked if I could return them anyway and be refunded the difference between rental price and purchase price, I learned that all sales are final (also new information... but then why would I ask about the finality of sales when I'm renting?). They suggested I try and sell them online. I assume that's not working for them, since they've opted for this tactic. If the Rental Company has to inform their customer that he bought something and didn't rent it, then he rented it. Initially, I thought it was just a misunderstanding, but I was so surprised when they wouldn't take the items back. That's what smells funny to me, refusing to take the items back once they had the cash, despite the misunderstanding. Just one experience, but still... hedge your bets.

Horrible experience. Rented a machine for Saturday pick up. Website/google listing tells me they are open until 3 pm. Show up at 2:30 pm. Sign on door says they have extended summer hours until 2 pm. Weird. Voicemail not helpful. Cars for staff in parking lot. Man across fence says no one can help. Feeling frustrated.

Does anyone know if this place rents out a welding machine and for how much? I've got a broken drivers door that won't shut. And I've got to get it repaired so I can give the vehicle to my elderly grandmother. But I can't seem to find anyone to help me with it. I just need info, and I can do the job myself. Poor customer service! Rental products are old and failed to work correctly on two separate occasions,flat tire on trailer the first rental and shovel continued to fall off on the second rental. Time out is indicated when payment is made but it took 30 minutes to load the equipment then after hours drop off is a joke. I forgot to text when I returned but I didn’t worry because the guys that loaded the equipment told me there was no hurry to return because they would be closed. I still was charged for twice for the rental. When I called to explain I was argued with and then hung up on! Her words “our process works just fine, do what you want to do” click! Poor customer service!!

To start with, go just south 1/4 mile south to PRO Rentals and they will take better care of you and have better equipment. This is the worst rental company ever!!! I have rented from these guys many times now and every time it’s a whole new experience. This last time I rented a skid steer, they picked the machine for me and it was so bleeping muddy and to top it all off, the d— track was off! Well I didn’t realize this until I got to my job 15 miles away and realized the track was off. I spent 3 hours trying to put this track back on and only started to use it. Well I brought it back 4 hrs later and the said unfortunately we will not credit you back for the time you had it. The owner was the one I was trying to get things ironed out with and he told me the guy that helped me was new three weeks ago. For all that care what costumers go through with this rental company, look at their reviews, that will explain why you need to go to PRO RENTALS, they have the knowledge and the right equipment to get you taken care of.

I have used Northwood rentals for rental tools for several project. I am not a contractor and think I know what I am doing because I watch a lot of HGTV. However, I do not always have the tools I need, so I will rent them from Northwood. They have a great selection of products and they are easy to work with. The best part is their expertise they have. Alan is contractor and knows what he is doing. I have sometime assumed I needed one tool or I should do it a specific way, but after talking it through with Alan, he would help me understand a better way. Sometime it resulted in a cheaper rental, but always that expertise resulted in avoiding hours of frustration. If you are thinking about a big project on your home or business, it is worth speaking with Alan at Northwood Rental.

We have been super impressed over the years with everything they do. Our favorite is the costumes. These Costumes are so neat and they just don't get mass produced. You feel super special when you put them on. We have done Pirates, to Madusa, and recently my daughter was Belle for Sadie Hawkins. Her dress made her feel like a million bucks and she and her date won Best Costume Couple for the dance. Very memorable and worth every penny

How confusing. I had made a reservation for $150 and I called to say I didn't need it the night prior, so I'd just reserve it for less time, and it was $220. How ridiculous. What a joke.

They charged my card extra after I had returned the item and after I left the store, they didn't even look at the item while I was standing there, just stared at the computer for a minute and said k you're good to go. Bunch of kids that shouldn't be running things, had to go find them cause the 3 kids working that day were all hanging out in the back room.

Poor customer service. Clerks behind the counter were more interested in their customers who called in on the telephone versus the customers who physically came into their store. All I need is someone to put the phone down for a second and say, "I'll be with you in one moment..." instead of staring at me blankly in complete silence. Kind of uncomfortable and unprofessional.

Northwood has been really good to us and rented us a lot of equipment over the past few years. They have saved us a lot of money when we didn't want to buy our own or ours was broken and we had to have a back up.

Poor equipment, dirty and filled with trash on pick up. Used the Skid steer for 2 hours , then spent 1. 5 hours trying to load it on the trailer because it rained for 3 minutes and could not drive it at all with slick tires ...Had it out for 6 hours (9:40 am to 3:35 pm) Charged me the entire day, (even though they stated they give a 30 minute load time) Cost me $351 for 2 hours of use. Oh they credited me $21 because I didn't fill the tank and they could have charged me more. I asked for a half day credit on a future rental and was denied! WOW, cheaper to hire a guy and pay him by the hour than rent from Northwood.

Rented a large generator for an important event. It did not work right. It kept shutting down for high Temp. The owner refused to believe that I had a problem with the generator and was rude and unwilling to make reasonable concessions for his equipment not working properly. I will not recommend this business to anyone due to extremely poor customer service.
