My youngest daughter wanted to have all her brothers and sisters,(there are 6 of them, including her), and myself to all dress up as Santa, Rudolph, and 5 elves, and surprise her mom for Christmas. I told her I would see what I could do, but I wasn’t going to spend too much. I went to Akron Design and Costume. I had never been there. Wow. They had some great Costumes, and accessories for Halloween, or any thing else you would dress up for. (Plays, themed parties, etc...). I told them what I was looking to do. Costume rental isn’t too expensive, but for 7 people it can add up real fast. If I was to rent all the costumes and accessories it would have cost in the neighborhood of $500. They worked with me, showed me options of renting and buying. The ended up putting a package together that was way less exspensive, and I still got everything I needed to pull off this surprise. So a big thanks to both of the ladies that helped me out that day.

I will NEVER go to this shop again!! We walked in to get a costume and the owner pre-judged us and thought we couldn't afford her stuff and said it would NOT be worth her time to get stuff out and help us!! Our money will be spent somewhere else!

Akron Design and Costume is a wonderful place to shop. Long before I worked here, I was a customer and ALWAYS came here for any of my cosplay, costume, or makeup needs. They have the rarest and best selection in all and are able to work 1 on 1 with you to ensure you look like your vision/your very best. Working here has been an exceptional experience for me as well. I am learning financial, retail, and social skills to carry with me further into my future and my careers. I love being able to use my creativity to help someone else's imagination come to life! Being open year round ensures that my creativity doesn't die after the seasons do.

My school went there several months ago for our Hello Dolly production and my initial gown did not fit so they allowed me to come in a try on a few other dresses and switch out the item! Very sweet assistance and patient with the requirements for our show! Costumes looked amazing and I will be going to hopefully find in nice dress for a smaller showcase tomorrow! (Attached is our school papers pictures of the costumes and as you can see they were just gorgeous on stage)

These guys were the best! Huge selection, fit me great, fast and efficient. Rented a Joker costume at a very reasonable price and it looked amazeballs. They even had all the makeup and accessories needed to complete the ensemble. Thanks again guys!!!

Yesterday I bought a taxi costume && I tried it on && it fitted good but didn't realize until today that the arms don't fit to my liking . So I go back in wanting to either get a smaller size or exchange for another costume in the same price range. Unfortunately there was no more in stock. But one of the workers asked me what I didn't like about the costume that made me want to exchange it for another costume. So I told her and she had me go try it on. And with no charge at all, she had one of the workers tailor my cuffs for me ! They was very helpful and Kind enough to fix what I didn't like about the costume . First time I've ever purchased something from their store will defiantly be coming back next year !!!

My shopping experience at Akron Design was the best. The staff is friendly and very helpful. They knew the products taught me make up tips and answered all my questions. They went above and beyond to help me. They had a lot of different and unique items available for rent aa well as purchase. I would most definitely shop this store again.

"We're not in Kansas anymore" These are the words that come to mind when I think of Akron Costume and Design Co. They have exceptional quality masks, costumes, etc. They serve their customers with a wide range of products/ rentals to choose from. Personally, I love their venetian masks and would never go anywhere else for future costume or holiday needs. Their halloween assortment is off the charts. They have realistic, appealing monster masks such as but not limited to; Predator, Alien, and Scarecrow. A business that from the looks of it on the outside packs more of a punch on the inside. Very cool place; worth checking out.

They have a fairly decent selection of costumes and accessories for all ages but they have a ZERO return policy. The staff is friendly and helpful and they try to constantly update merchandise for quality as well as selection.

A little pricey but still a very cool place to shop. Staff stays near you at all times. Making it very uncomfortable to shop. The way they let you try on costumes is an awful process. The costumes and make is super cool though. Love how they are open all year.

Every time I come in they are very helpful and have a wide selection of things, from FX makeup to props and costumes. Anything I need is usually there and they are very helpful if you need help finding something. For example I can in today for cream paint to make a fake beard. They didn't have the exact color I needed in stock but had it on the swatch board. They were nice enough to help me go through all of their colors and when I still couldn't find one that worked well enough they let me take the one off their swatch board. I have yet to have a bad experience there and the staff is really nice. I would definitely recommend going here for all of your cosplay or costume needs

my girlfriend bought a costume . loved it but only didnt like one thing . so a took it back the next day . and with no hesitation the owner had a worker tailor her cuffs for no charge . an was very nice and helpful. definitely coming back .

The only place I buy my special effects makeup, masks, and costumes! I've been going to this store since I was 10. No one beats Akron Design on quality of products. If you shop at the 30 day pop-up Halloween stores, I'm afraid you are wasting your time. Are you intrested in special effects makeup and not sure where to start? The makeup artists at Akron design will take the time to find exactly what you need for your look and will teach you how to use it. Largest selection of accessories and jewelry I have ever seen. Movie quality costumes and makeup! Dont waste your time at the popup stores! The team at Akron Design is passionate about what they do, and that is what will always separate them from the low quality pop-up stores.

It was great! It had all cool special effects and everything was sorted correctly. They even let me try on the gloves i needed to make sure i got the right size!
