You can't afford anything here, but it is worth going in to see how the other half shops. There seems to be more floor staff than shoppers and the rooms are cubby - like. Drop crumbs to get out. That having been said - there are lovely items here and helpful people. It goes without saying that they gift New York City their windows....there is nothing comparable: they set the gold standard.

Buyer beware of a convoluted and antiquated return process for items purchased at the store, if attempted from out of town. I had an excellent experience with the sales staff at the 5th Avenue flagship store. However, I am sorry to report that the store is living in the the dark ages when it comes to out of town returns. When I tried to return an item from my residence in Washington, DC, the process was antiquated and unworkable. I called the store, was told that Fed Ex would pick the item up, and was given a tracking number. However, Fed Ex did not show up to pick up the item (after my husband waited all day) and Fed Ex says that it has no record of the tracking number. Now I have to again call the in-store customer service staff and this can only do that during store hours. Really?! This is 2019, people! Why can't this return process be tracked online?

The Department Store as we knew and loved is here. Staff is generally unpretentious and not pressuring. If you need assistance or advice, they are happy to oblige. Definitely unlike the current crop of cookie-cutter mall anchors. Sure, you won’t find a bargain here, but then again, we didn’t come here to look for one. Truly enjoyed our experience and will be a staple on future visits.

Kinga at the shoes department is very helpful. Everyone else we encounter was very very rude. I think it shouldn't matter how much are the products the reps should be nice. However if you're spending 1000's, maybe be a little extra nice. But they were rude. Not helpful. Rejected to bring a new sunglasses, but selling the one on the display and insisted. Two ladies. 600 for a sunglasses, do we have to explain that I want a brand new one, not the one everyone try and drops. The attitude should change. Otherwise, a big selection of designer goodies.

I love Bergdorf’s. It’s a magical place. They have many beautiful items that you wouldn’t find anywhere else. Truly if I could live anywhere it would be in the old Goodman Apartment. I cannot stress how much I love this store. However it’s not perfect...The only thing I would change is the lack of customer service sometimes. When I shop at other department stores, like Nordstrom, employees go out of their way to make me feel valued and to let me know that they as well as the company appreciates me spending my money with them. Whenever I shop at BG I often get the feeling that I’m bothering a salesperson by asking for their help, or when they shoot me a snotty look because I’m apparently standing in their way.

One of the worst customer service experiences and ratings in what is supposed to be a “high-end” retailer. I’ve read reviews about both online and in person shopping experiences that were absolute nightmares but being objective, I wanted to form my own opinion and give Bergdorf a shot. The reviews are not exaggerated which is really sad. This retailer succeeded in carrying a variety of designers and items but failed miserably in their customer service arena. Their Men's store lives up to its reputation with a friendly staff that is not overbearing and allows you time to wander and answer any questions you may have. I allow myself about 20 minutes in a store and if I haven't found something or a sales consultant within that time, I'm not going to buy anything. Wherever you shop, these people are knowledgeable and will make your experience much simpler. I've never had to set foot inside Hermès, Saks or Tiffany, because I rely without question, on their sales professionals to find me what I want with very little effort. Bergdorf's provides the same great service, if you cannot shop in person. Not everything is expensive, I was able to find a house brand leather belt and some casual shirts at a price I was comfortable with.

I always purchased online but with this store I have the most horrible experience , I order a pair of valentino sandals that I received after one month of the purchased day , when I decided to returned I put the sandals in at box and send it , couple days after that they send me at box with a women’s dressy shoes only one shoes and informe that they received that shoes instead of the valentino sandals . Some of the staff are very rude and superficial. If you go there without wearing your brand name clothes and shoes( which I do have), they look at you from the corner of their eyes in a condescending way! Once I was talking to a woman in Dior cosmetics and as soon as she saw a woman in veil who was from the Gulf countries, she suddenly left me and started talking to her in broken Arabic- which she knew a few words only. They should learn to be decent human beings first. The funny part is that most likely they themselves are not wealthy at all otherwise they won’t be working long hours in a store!!! It is a store after all and they are sale associates and cashiers:) Too bad as I spend my money somewhere else!

Came to see Ashley Longshore paintings and those didn’t disappoint... but I have to say the Palette cafe was rough around the edges. Servers were poorly trained and I cut my meal short when I really wanted another drink and desert because it took 30 minutes for someone to come back around to my table. The main level of this store, where you come in off the street, is beautiful. You’re greeted with friendly staff and lovely handbags/jewelry. The other floors are in rough shape with severly stained/nasty carpet and lighting/decor from the 80’s. I had expected the store to be very chic and a nice experience, but it clearly hasn’t been updated/renovated in 30 years. The top level with the home decorative items was the most poorly neglected.

This old lady working at the charlotte tilbury section is the rudest person ever! I bought a face cream from there and realized that I bought the same one that I had at home. So I went to bergdorf's the next day to return it. I asked This lady with frizzy hair if I can return this item. She said only if you bought it from here. Which I did. So I gave her the cream and she was looking at it. So she opened the box and she pulled the tab on the lid. Acting like I opened and used it. EVEN THOUGH I SAW HER OPENING IT RIGHT IN MY FACE PUT HER FINGER IN IT AND THEN SHE GOES AROUND ASKING EVERYONE DOES THIS LOOK OPEN AND USED TO YOU? Then she turns around and says that im the one who opened and touched it. Like seriously lady? Why did bergdorf even hired this disgusting lady. Like I didn't know bergdorf was so DESPERATE for money they wouldnt let anyone return anything..but so far everyone else is nice and understanding when you're shopping for stuff.

This place is a museum of beautiful excess. If you need to kill some time and feel under accomplished there is no place better. Joking aside, it is an amazing sight. Who looks at reviews of Bergdorf? Go here if you need to spend $17,500 on an embroidered rabbit statue and options are important. Bring your children for a game of pocketbook Russian roulette! Tip: there is a cafe on the top floor. It has a great menu. The prices are high, but not horrible.

Trying to see if the store is selling a Goyard specific case is a mission! One hour after of being transferred from a person to the other over the phone, I give up! I am leaving this review because of the outstanding service that was shown by the ladies at Bergdorf, in particular Stacey. She was so kind, understanding and willing to work with me. I visited numerous bridal salons in NYC and NJ and Stacey and Bergdorf was by far the best bridal consultant that I met with! WORST SHOPPING EXPERIENCE I waited for half year to get the beauty event which can take you 200 off when you spend 1000. I placed my order through phone call. Then the sales sent me the wrong items and I asked for exchange, but she told me all the options I want were out of stock. I waited for two weeks, then sent wrong items back. They decreased my event gift card because I returned the wrong items. However, I checked with both online chat and phone service, both of them told me I should get back the exact money I paid for everything with the discount price. The Bergdorf Goodman New York store does not follow their rules which other service told me should be the same as stores saying they have different rules. Plus there is no documents and any instructions to prove the different rule she told me. Have no idea what I did wrong? Because I sent back the wrong items??? Worst shopping experience ever have.

Sit back and observe the scene of fabulous world designers items and the passing by clients. Xmas decoration in the last floor are definately worth a peak, super cute and dreamy! The most disappointing Afternoon Tea ever. Staff rude and shambolic (spilt water on the table and constantly banged into the chairs as there was no space), food was very poor, both in flavour and appearance, for what was suppose to be a great restaurant, too many tables and chairs squeezed in and hugely overpriced. Staff was paying more attention to their cell phones and private conversations than the customers. I guess they dont get paid on commission but should be retrained to be more attentive. No customer equal no paycheck. One shining spot, the window displays were AMAZING. Love the creativity.

BEWARE. HORRIBLE ONLINE RETURNS. I sent back a pair of shoes using their return shipping label and two weeks later there is no return processed to my account. The online usps tracking shows its been in the possession of a return agent since June 12th ( I returned on June 10th). According to Gary L, the BG supervisor I spoke with today on the phone (after a 30min wait to even get to him ) the return has been in a PA warehouse since the 18th and 4 business days later still hasn't been checked in. I expressed my anger and frustration at the dysfunctional process and asked for a gift card. Gary L said he didn't agree with my upset and refused to compensate me for both my time and the lengthly delay in processing my return. He also had the nerve to say if I wanted to pay for return shipping myself the address is posted on the BG website. Rude. It is a red flag that you no longer allow returns for Bergdorf online at Neiman Marcus stores and yet are happy to charge me using my neimans account. I am seriously considering closing my account with the neimans group because of this experience. Oh and to offer return shipping through USPS and not Fedex or UPS like other luxury good companies is just cheap and tacky.
