Went to this store yesterday wanted to exchange a jacked that a I got as a gift for my birthday. I found the same jacket another size that worked for me perfectly. When I said I want to exchange to the sales person Rachel she changed her friendly smile to and angry grimace. She told me straight to the face that she is not gonna get her commissions from the exchange and that I had to tell her about it from the beginning so she wouldn’t waste her time on me. Well.. it was my worst experience in the store and I will never come here again

Large, multi floor. Had to get a couple suits tailored. Worth the extra expense as there was expert advice and the NYC modern style advice you can't necessarily get at the local dry cleaner! Friendly and attentive sales rep too. A bit pricey for the drop in star but i bet there are value buys if you keep you eyes open. You also get what you pay for.. quality and style!

Extremely rude staff. I made eye contact with at least 12 employees with smug facial expressions, who otherwise did not even acknowledge my existence browsing the men's department. One of them cut me off as I was reaching for a sweatshirt I was going to buy, and said nothing to me. There is not an establishment in NYC more undeserving of your business than this one.

Horrible price match policy. Literally bought a shirt less than 30 days ago but their stupid policy won't price match so I have to return and purchase again to save more than 50%! My business will now be going exclusively to neiman's, Nordstrom, or saks. Customer service and actual fair and intelligent policies are what separate the others from Barney'$ ($ intended).

I love Barney’s its self but there customer service is horrendous. Last week I received a purse as a gift and the first time I wore it it ripped. So as a customer the first thing I would do and anyone else is to contact customer services. I was on the phone with them for over 45 minutes, transferred to 10 different people in different departments, was kind to all of them and what did they give me rudeness and disrespect. They had no clue on how to talk to there customers or comfort there needs which I think is ridiculous and all there employees should be retrained. An employee is supposed to satisfy the customer which they did not do at all to me.

The most incredible store in the world for elegant clothing, jewelry and cosmetics. The small homeware department is also excellent and you can’t beat lunch at Fred’s. The jewelry departments are my favorite part of the store- 2 on the first floor and another upstairs. Their own line of clothes is really gorgeous and not to be missed.

When you're in Barneys you feel like you have a lot of capital even though you definitely do not. If one day I walk into Barneys and seduce an attractive member of the staff I will know I have made it. I have nothing to say about the stuff they sell as I am more likely to shoplift it than buy it at this point due to my relative and absolute dearth of capital. And I haven't shoplifted since I was a feckless teen about to vote against Bob Dole for President, forever changing the course of history. Barneys is great, and I hope to meet Barney one day.

Great shopping experience. They carry a lot of brands, not only those universally known luxury brands but also niche brands hardly seen elsewhere. Sometimes this makes it a have-to to visit Barney's if one's been following some not so mainstream designers. The staff here are very knowledgeable and helpful, meanwhile not being too enthusiastic so you can appreciate your favorite garments with full attention. Given all these merits the magnificent department store owns, let alone its golden location, I don't think I'll need Barney's app anymore. The online shopping experience at Barney's IMO is something they can and should improve.

I recently purchased an item from Barneys and shipped it to my home in Texas. Usually when I ship an item from department store they send the item with return label also. However Barneys didn’t and there was no return instruction or anything. I called the customer service and I asked I want to return the item but how? Their answer was just ship it back to department store. No details and their attitude was like ‘I don’t care’. Definitely Barneys need to improve the customer service A LOT. I really doubt why Barneys is considered as upscale department store.

This place has the worst customer service. I have come to terms with their subpar service, so when I go in there I just simply help myself and find someone who appears pleasant to check me out. But today was the worst. I called serval times looking for a pair of shorts and when someone finally answered the phone she lied and said the shorts weren't there. I went on to call Barneys downtown and the lady looked up the merchandise and said Madison Avenue had 2 pairs of the shorts, but she couldn't help me since her friend left for the day (the friend was the one who confirmed that there was multiple pairs on the rack today) so I have to wait until tomorrow to get the shorts :(. So I called web services and when they contacted the store, no one answered the phone in that department. I JUST CANNOT UNDERSTAND....

I placed an online order on Aug 1st and chose pickup at Madison store because I thought it will be faster and easier. But I waited for 9 days until now and I haven't have any updates about my order. I wrote email to them on Tuesday and only got a response 3 days ago which said it will takes additional 1-2 biz days to process. However, I wrote back yesterday and haven't hear back from them, so disappointing.

Went to purchase an item from Goyard and the rep did not assist me at all. I wanted to look at the specific items and she told me it wasn't available and immediately tried to close the drawer as if I was going to steal. Came back a second time and asked if she can put my name down in the book to get a call back and she was very hesitant and told me to go bergdorf goodman instead if I wanted it. I felt very disrespected and embarrassed. I guess this is what happens when you are not Caucasian.

They are one of the few stores in the states that carry my favorite brand of flats: Baudoin and Lange! (Hope more stores catch on) Barney’s is always on the cutting edge offering the latest and greatest in fashion. I’m continually impressed by the merchandise they have and how quick they are to be the first to discover new emerging brands and artisans from around the world. Hats off to the buyers at Barney’s.

Decent selection but customer service is awful. I was just trying to order a pair of Dries trousers in a different color than the store had in stock and my “sales associate”, if you even wish to call him that, promptly told me they didn’t buy it in that color. Okay, fair. I then asked if I could order it and he said with a straight face and the shortest tone I’ve ever heard from another human “we don’t really do that here”. I am a sales associate myself so being treated like this was deplorable. I always put my customers first because I know that online reigns supreme for high and even low end shopping needs, so those who choose to come in and see me instead of just buying online are to be respected and appreciated. I honestly just needed a pair of trousers and this employees unwillingness to help me honestly ruined my entire shopping experience at this store. I’m sure he is just a bad egg, but he genuinely made me feel bad for asking if they carried Ann Demeulemeester and wanting to order a pair of trousers from him. But all is well, I found them on Mr. Porter and went the online route instead.

Called to see if an item was available and was told it was and would be held. I stopped by 1 hour later to pick it up and it was no where to be found. Wasted trip. However, one of the sales reps took my name and number and told me she'd call if it turned up. Sure enough the next evening it was located and she called as promised. Not the ideal scenario since I wasted a lot of time going down there, but nice that they followed up.

Loses two stars due to exorbitant prices, far beyond reasonable for many items and their less than stellar construction and quality. Tee-shirts need not be $125, wallets $300+, shoes $600++, ... Unless you can easily afford it, this isn't your store.

This store has an issue with anyone who doesn't appear rich. I am a white female, a few years back when I was 18 I went to their shoe department during their shoe sale. I felt like someone was behind me and sure enough there was a male sales associate standing behind me, almost breathing down my neck, I was startled and so he smiled at me. I took a step to the right to move away from him and sure enough he took a few steps to the right, again RIGHT behind me, not saying one word. I was so disturbed that I turned around and left and did not come back for 5 years until I finally did and NO sales associate ever spoke to me, asked for help, I was completely ignored. Funny thing is when I was stalked by that sales associate I was carrying a see-through tote so if they thought I would steal shoes, they could've easily seen stolen shoes through my see through bag. What the honest Frick? Also, the shoes are out one shoe at a time so what was the point of me stealing ONE shoe? Save yourself the agony: go to Bergdorf Goodman!

A lovely upscale department on Madison Avenue in NYC where you will find all the well known and sought after designer labels. One of my favorite places. Be prepared because the apparel is high end. There is also a nice cafe in the building where you can have a light lunch. My favorite department is the accessory area and the shoe department for the latest in fashion trends.
