As someone who's work revolves around costumes, this WAS a regular stop for me. Until I was sold a costume which simply did not match the photo on the cover at all. The management agreed it was not the right costume, but still after having spend thousands of dollars at this store. And even having shown receipts for my bulk and frequent purchases. They did not want to offer a refund for this product. I understand costumes store no return policies, as every party customers would return after their one time use. However not giving a refund for a product that by everyones agreement did not match the photo (at all), to a frequent customer, is just unprofessional and disrespectful. I will Never be shopping at Halloween Adventure/ New York Costumes again. and advise that other near by costume stores have a much more friendly and reasonable approach to how they run their business.

What a ripoff. First, it’s super pricey; more expensive than other stores around the area. I checked exact same costume on Amazon, it was literally half price on amazon ($70 vs $35) for a Wonder Woman costume. Second, they don’t let you try it on. The guy said that I should fit in M. I got home and tried it on. It was way too big. And all sales are final; no return or exchange. $35 one on Amazon even offers free return. Look elsewhere or Buy it on Amazon a couple of days in advance and you’ll time AND money!!

Visiting this store literally ruined my day. While looking at a costume I was approached by a staff member who told me 'not to waste my time' and that the 'plus size stuff is downstairs honey.' I'm a size 8-10 and the Halloween costume I was looking at specifically mentioned it fit up to a US size 16. So... after that, I refused to buy anything from the store. However before we left my friend was accused of opening a costume packet that she already found open on the shelf. So all in all if I could give 0 stars I would.

When I think of Halloween and goth culture I think of Halloween Adventure. This shop is always fun no matter what. If you have some time to kill in the east village definitely stop by to check out the costumes and decor. Lots of props, makeup, silly stuff. Start early to scheme on what your costume is going to be.

Worked here one Halloween season and the job was hectic.. but this is a great store for costumes and parties and all kinds of stuff from comedy to horror to gag gifts and parades.. there is a magic shop in the basement and you can get custom costumes made for the right price... They have alot of contact lenses to choose from and a make up/ special effects booth in the front.. They carry costumes for adults, men, women, kids, and even dogs. Plus there is a sexy adult section downstairs... Very cool place... Be ready to look around alot.

OMG they literally have EVERYTHING. It's a one stop shop where you can get your Halloween done for good. Wigs, costumes, props, contact lenses, makeups, socks, headband, ribbons, horns, masks, you name it. I think the price is a bit high tho. This place is open all year round, for anytime you want to get yourself a costume for a special occasion. The store is huge, and has a wide range of costumes and costume accessories. The staff is friendly and will answer any and every question you may have, Some items are marked relatively inexpensive, while others you would be better off buying at the 99 cent store. Great store to duck into if you're bored and on 4th avenue.

Super overwhelming - year round costume store. Obviously it is packed all around Halloween - and they have everything imaginable that you could want - though it is a bit dark and cluttered. Not unreasonably expensive (especially when compared to pop up shops), and staff is friendly though not very useful. Great for browsing, idea generation, full blown outfits (and rentals), and finishing touch accessories. Relevant all year round - whenever you want to play dress up.

While their selection is vast and amazing their pricing is odd at times something can be found 15$ cheaper online and other times it feels like a real bargain but its never in between its always one or the other. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful but I felt a little pushy in terms of asking to help, every couple of feet someone asked me if I needed anything which some may like but I felt was intrusive.

The place is so awesome it has a map for inside hahaa!!!! From your favorite characters too props, they have it all! They have great prices and if you're looking for high end stuff like costumes, they have affordable and if you want to go high quality they have amazing stuff too that you wouldn't believe!!! I came here in the middle of September looking for a Comic Con outfit. The staff was super helpful there. They have a no try-on policy which super sucks, since they also have a no return or exchange policy. I'm not sure if that's just seasonal cause it's so close to Halloween or if it is like that year-round. Since I couldn't try the costumes on, a staff member helped me open the packages and let me hold items up or try items on over my clothes to kind of get an idea if it would fit. I ended up leaving with something that fit perfectly. They have a huuuuuuge selection though, so props to them for that.

This is THE place to go in NYC for a halloween costume. If you're going anywhere else, you've made a huuuuge mistake. This place is halloween heaven- (or hell... can I say that?) I usually end up coming here the weekend before halloween- which is a great idea because the place gets PACKED. If it's too crowded they'll start to line people up outside and let you in a few at a time as people leave. They have probably everything you could think of. I'll try to remember the sections (not all had signs): decorations, hats, glasses/accessories, super heroes, star wars, star trek, cartoon characters, steampunk, gangsters/flappers, medieval, roman soldier, traditional horror/hollywood movie monsters, occupation, playboy bunny, video game characters, couples costumes, silly costumes, sexual innuendos, "420", masks, makeup, kids (infant/toddler/tween) and more. Downstairs are rentals and I overheard from a worker that that's where they had their "sexy" costumes but I got what I needed upstairs so I didn't check it out. The lines to pay at first scared me but they moved incredibly quick. I was really happy to be in and out once I got what I needed. You NEED to come here - albeit earlier - to avoid the hustle and bustle of tourists and last minute shoppers. The place is full of creepy things to check out as you shop to. Go here! You won't be disappointed.

I honestly don’t get how this store has such good reviews. There’s no dressing rooms for adults. I recently bought 2 costumes, one as a backup. One of them was WAY too big and it was an XS, I’m a petite woman but I’m not that tiny. The other fit well but it white stains all throughout the bottom of the dress, I was unfortunate enough not to spot it. Because Halloween Adventure doesn’t take returns or refunds, I’m stuck with these shoddy costumes and forced to find something else. I would never come back here. The service is decent but the quality of the costumes are horrible.

I am always here. I seem to continually need costumes or props. It's like Halloween year-round here in this large store. The workers might not be super warm and fuzzy, but I find them knowledgeable and helpful. I have tried on costumes here too before, though they limit you to I believe one option. The pricing ends up usually being more than if you ordered online, but there's something to be said for it being here, no shipping costs, and ability to have it now to have it altered more quickly, if you need that to happen.

If you have any common sense, avoid Halloween Adventure at all costs. The horrid staff prefers to throw their nasty attitude at their customers and stalk them within the store rather than actually do their jobs (especially the workers downstairs). Tons of the same products are available right next door at Gothic Renaissance. No reason to visit here unless you want DMV-level "service".

one star is too high after what i experienced. had the most appalling experience at this store. came in to purchase a wig. didn’t think to open it in the store as i assumed everything is as pictured and brand new. came home & realized the wig is damaged/cut up. came to the store politely the following day with a receipt and the wig in its full packaging (clearly i never even tried it on after seeing the damage). not only did they not take the return or even offer store credit, the “manager” personality walked over to me to tell me “too bad.” i stated that i will have to call my credit card company since he refused to accept back faulty merchandise they sold me. he then followed by stating “drop dead.” disgustingly run store. i live nearby and will avoid it at all costs going forward.

Good and huge selection of costumes and related gear. It's probably the biggest asset last in Manhattan. TIP: if you have to go within a week or so of Halloween, find a way to go early in the day and you'll be fine versus going in the evening with literally hundreds of people mobbing the store and checkout lines.
