I have to say my first visit for dropping off clothes was a HUGE negative experience. I went in already expecting to only receive $3 to $4 for some of the items but I think it is a pretty reasonable thing for one to want to take back some of their items especially if they know they can sell it on their own for way more(very, very reasonable thing). I had brought in 2 big bags of very nice Nike clothing barely touched. I mean most have only been worn once or twice and some still had the tags on. You would think that a place that specifically asks for popular name brand items would love receiving bags of that great of quality and quantity. Thats the point of their business they receive nice clothing from their customers and they can resell it at a higher price (no problem with that). My problem was not with how much I received but the attitude I received from what I am assuming was a manager( she was maybe mid 30's to early 40's and had black hair and wears makeup). She had taken over for a girl who was getting confused on what items were what when I asked how much I was receiving back on for particular items and ( I do have the right to ask that). It was a big bin of nice almost brand new nike clothing and she tossed it on the ground out of impatience to have me just go through the bin and grab the items I wanted back and throughout she made sassy remarks and shaked her head out being annoyed. I politely asked questions throughout and as a business, you should answer politely back. Thats what helping is. Instead they were just "dealing" with me. As if I (someone who brought a ton of expensive nice items and someone who was very polite throughout the experience) was a huge annoyance and problem for them. At the end, this manager had me sign a receipt and didn't say a word with me just eye rolls and head shakes. I asked if I was all set since I never received a different receipt after that and she goes "yup". I did not receive a single thank you for ALL the NICE EXPENSIVE items I had brought in . As whoever runs this business. Your management and any form of employees should NEVER treat ANY customer or person who comes in with that much stuff of almost brand new items with such disrespect and attitude. That is extremely poor business practices. The people who are KEEPING your company in business should never receive any form of rude attitude snotty behavior unless if that customer is rude or aggressive in any way. I had high hopes for this place to bring back more of my items which all the rest are again mostly brand new but because of the horrible experience of that one manager I will be more than happy to be bringing my stuff to more friendlier consignment shops. At the end of the day, It's your business... If you think its acceptable to have employees hurting your store like that then so be it. It effects that business more than it does me.

DONT TRY TO SELL YOUR CLOTHES HERE! I brought 3 bags of barely worn high end clothing, purses and shoes and they told me they won’t buy anything because “they usually don’t do well.” I’ve been to many other Plato’s closets in the past that would have absolutely given me money for the items I brought. Such a waste of time

Let's begin with I called to ask if they are only excepting clothes to the current season. They replied with no we accept it all rite now. Also do I have to make an appointment, they replied no. Ok so I drive 45 min to get their walk up to the counter & they have me fill a slip. Telling me ok itll be a 45 min wait!. When I'm being checked out I was offered 11$ for 1 maybe 2 items.. and given back my 2 bags of clothes. I had brand new true religion Jean's in the bag along with other on&off season clothes that they didn't take because they were only taking summer items.. I addressed this to the employee she replied there was nothing she can do and no manager on site!. Waste of my time coming from dracut, mass. Educate your employees what's going on in that store & how to properly help/give correct information to customers.

I know about Plato's Closet from when i was stationed in other states while on active duty in the military... Im so ecstatic to find out this had opened here. Plato's Closet is awesome all the way around! I have purchased & sold many items there and have nothing negative to say. One minor detail that may aggitate inpatient people is that it does take them time to process items you're selling. They dont just make up an amout to pay you, it takes time for them to research that item and then based on its condition, what season its from (how old), & their inventory ( they're probably not going to purchase a med. Calvin Kline top that's not in high-demand, if they are already trying to sell 10 identical ones they already have), that's how they'll determine how much to offer you. I was always extremely pleased with what they paid for my items. With how the determine pricing explained... Now you can understand that if there are 3 or 4 people who are also selling items ( or even just 1 or 2 people with a lot of stuff) its going to take them awhile to get to your stuff. I Always found that any waiting I did have to do was not excessive & I was able to leave, grab a coffee from Starbucks, & also shop. I'll update my review as soon as i get to this particular store.

Update: did go back (Tues) and brought some things - got some cash, which I Promptly spent. Excellent service and style advice from ‘Matthew’. Plato’s closet makes me happy!

Disappointed that they decided my clothes didn't fit in with what they were looking for, though I could tell they only looked at about 4 (Ralph Lauren brand) of the 10+ items brought in. Bottom of the bag had NWT items they never even looked at. The constant bickering at the register was a bit much.

My 15 year old son loves this store but the sales clerks are so rude. I was at "the wrong register" and the teenage snoby sales clerk acted like I should have know the difference between the drop off register and the purchasing items register, mind you there are no signs to specify this. They would not let me use their bathroom so even though I can barely walk they told me to go to the Burlington Coat Factory and use theirs, I have a intestinal disorder(IBS) and barley made it. I spend plenty of money there I should at least be able to use their toilet. The clerks treat you like you are invisible and like they are so above the people who shop there.

Brought in 3 totes of clothes and they passed on everyhing! I'm pretty sure they didn't even look at the clothes. It took less than 5 minutes for them to go through 3 totes of clothes! When asked why everything was passed on I was told that ....... Nothing I had was in their system!....seriously?? Not one thing I had was in their system?? ..well that's a bunch of bull..was the first time at this location, since I was just visiting family in the area.....staff was rude..the place was super messy and disorganized...I saw stained and ripped clothes on the racks as well as some pretty ugly things, yet apparently nothing in my 3 totes was good enough to hang in there! I will just continue to bring my clothes to my regular location where they actually look at my clothes and buy off me!!

Went here to drop off clothes the other day. We had 4+ bags with clothes that where in great condition and where "current" styles. These included pants, casual shirts, semi formal sirts, graphic tee shirts ect. We where told that it would be a 4 hour wait just to het them processed. When we return they only excepted 2 items and we made less than 5$ . When we asked the staff why they did not accept more they where not very help full and put it off to them being " overly worn, but some of the clothes I had in the bags where brand new. DO NOT GO HERE TO SELL CLOTHES ITS A WASTE OF TIME.

I mean... Who decides what is in trend. I brought a bunch of clothes there that were in great condition, mostly brand name stuff I had or grown over the years, and they took 5 shirts for 20 bucks. The girl was literally a corporate clone, spewing out useless information in a roboticly shrill voice that made my ears bleed... Corporate must LOVE her, but you can tell ask her associates hate her...

Went in there tonight to have them look at some of my clothes I wanted to get rid of, the girl who checked me in couldn't even be bothered to smile and clearly did not want to be there. I waited over an hour for them to look at my clothing, mind you I did not bring in very much, and they only ended up taking 4 items that I brought and gave me a very small amount of money for what I was expecting. The girl checking me out was too busy talking about the songs playing on the road which were extremely inappropriate and offensive to most people. Definitely was not satisfied with my visit and dont think I will ever be returning.

Young "manager" was quite rude in her tone with me, as if I was inconveniencing her, but maybe she was having a bad day. Next time just greet a customer with a smile and ask them how they are. I love this store, but the customer service experience just left a bad taste in my mouth. Customer service is everything.

I think you can have two entirely different experiences depending on if you are selling clothing or buying it. The service here seems to be fair and friendly overall. I have no complaints. They can be a bit picky in the clothing they choose to keep from what you bring in. If you fashion sense is trendy and "cheap" then you will easily be able to sell your clothing here. They are not interested in suits or other classier items though.

We have been here a few times and have found great deals each time. My wife got a PINK rain coat for $25, I found a Columbia shell for $30 and we got a few pairs of quality jeans for our teenagers. The store is clean, organized and they have a nice men's section out back. You can sell them quality, name brand clothes, which we have not done as we donate our used items. But it's nice to save money when buying items. I highly recommend this store!

You'd never know clothes are second hand. Quality, quality clothing. Their biggest downfall is lack of size range. In my honest opinion they are completely opposed to accepting sizes beyond an XL. I'm talking clean, fashionable clothing with tags. I loved it at first but, for anyone who is a bigger size that enjoys quality clothes at a discount ( because who doesn't) I stopped shopping there. Plato's has such great potential and in order to remain viable, should be open to expanding their size selections.

i went in with a full trash bag of clothes that were up to date and junior sizes. they range from abercrombie to hollister to american eagle. they did not take any of it. they told me i should go to a child’s store.

they have a good selection with good prices but i have noticed some things with stains and rips in the store, so check before you buy. i brought in two trash bags worth of stuff and they took one. i got $93 which was good enough for me.

I've been wanting to go check this store out for awhile now. So happy I did. I got 3 Victoria secret sweaters,2 shirts, and a pair of sweats for 50 bucks. Easily each sweater would cost 50 at the store. I love my new tops. I will be telling my friends and family to go check the store out!

Terrible experience. I used to enjoy shopping here until I went to sell a few items. The first few time I sold them items went well except sometimes they don’t give much money in return. This last time I went to sell, they wouldn’t take my items without a “physical” copy of my ID. I’ve sold there multiple times in the past therefore they should have my ID photocopied on file. I offered to show them a photo of my ID that is a clear image on my phone. One worker said she would take that while another worker is eavesdropping and stated that she would not take the photo of my ID. She was extremely rude and had no sympathy towards forgetting ID this one time even though as I mentioned, I had sold there in the past. It just seems very silly that they need a physical copy of an ID. Especially when considering that you drive all the way there & have sold there in the past. I am selling used clothes NOT an expensive luxury item such as a macbook. Ridiculous. I will not be returning.

This place is AMAZING!!! The clothes are so cute the people are so nice and welcoming. We need more shops like this. There selection is HUGE, one of the biggest second hand shops I've seen. Also can we talk about how Affordable everything is! Super cute dress $8 stunning shoes $10 leggings $5 and all in so many sizes! I can not wait till they actually open to sell I will definitely be buying half the store!

Awful. I came in with 4 bags packed with clothes, belts, jewelry, etc and they didn’t take a single thing. Everything I had in the bags were from Christmas 2017 yet they told me the clothes were “ out of date “. It took them 2 minutes to review and process my items, which shows me that they didn’t even take the time to look at my items. Waste of time.
