I called from Canada Toronto to reserve a costume outfit a week before Halloween for the fedish fantasy expo party on October 29, 2016. When the time came for me to travel from Canada to Vegas my flight was delayed. I called the owner and told him that I was going to be late the owner replied no problem he'll wait. My flight was scheduled to arrive in Vegas by 10:00 pm.. Instead it arrived at 10:30 pm SMH I called to see if the owner was still there, and he was still there Wow. I arrive to the store and the Owner Marty was awesome to help me out. Thank you buddy I made it in time for the party. Now that's customer Service for you.

Tried to come by but store seemed out of business. Couldn't open door. Rang bell and waited a good minute but im not going to stand in the vegas heat much longer than that for a store I can't even be certain is operating. Made it across the parking lot back to the car and a older gentlemen came out and stated "did I take too long" I responded "hard to tell if you're open " he then went back inside before I could ask if he sold cosplays. Best costumns in town. They have everything from wigs, accessories, evening gowns, Mardi gras, props and the best owners around. If you need help they can do that and also tell you some interesting stories while they do it.

Where to begin!! We were in Vegas for my Sister and Brother in Law's renewal of their vows for their 20th anniversary along with their 3 kids - aged 9-13. At first they seemed very helpful. One of us spoke to Marty on the phone and told him what we wanted before we came in. He assured us they could help. When we got there, Tina assured us that there was nothing they could do for fitting out the kids (we were going gangster style for the boys and of course glamour 40's for the girls). She started showing us some women's stuff and told us that we could not try anything on and that when we were to wear their gear under no circumstances were we to wear any underarm, perfume etc etc. Who goes and hires/buys anything without trying on???? Eventually she let me try on a horrible dress (over the top of my clothing)which she said would be a great fit. Looked like a sack of potatoes and we decided to look for something else. Meanwhile, Marty was fitting out the boys, all seemed to go OK there. However, when the kids were looking around, they were constantly being told off about touching things. These kids are by no means bad mannered, just being curious kids!!! She did not seem to want to have anything to do with the kids. She eventually found us something that suited us and assured us that it would fit (still without trying it on). Eventually we all got our gear together (7 of us). When it came to deposit, they wanted $1000 deposit (each)!!! Not even worth $100. When we got the gear back to our hotel rooms, we took photos of everything and when we went to wear our dresses noticed that a lot of sequince had come off the side. The dress that I had was too big for me and kept scratching me all night on the sides. The gear was due back 2 days after we had hired it. We were going out on an all day adventure and knew that we would have a couple of hours to get the gear back to them. So, we arrived back in Vegas and had a phone call from Marty asking when we were bringing the gear back (this was about 1.5 hours before it was due back). We told him that we were on our way. After we had left, he called my brother in law to ask if we had left yet!!! These people were rude and I will NEVER deal with them again - we should have gone to Williams as we had intended!! So much for great, American service!!!

I rarely take the time to write reviews but this time I just had to share my experience with American Costumes. I am a film student and we are shooting a 1940's short film for which we needed to find high quality costumes of the time. We were looking for 1940's policeman costume and we looked EVERYWHERE, and I mean EVERYWHERE with no luck. We couldn't find anything remotely decent, all the other shops had very fake-looking options and very few had costumes of the time that we needed. Finally someone mention this place and we ended up there last minute before our shoot. Marty, the owner, helped us in a heartbeat. He was able to put everything we needed together and not only did they have exactly what we were looking for, but we had many options to choose from. They really saved the day their prices were really reasonable. I must emphasize that the quality of the costumes was really incredible, it looked like legitimate pieces of the time, and it photographed beautifully on camera. We even ended up finding other accessories that we weren't looking for. They're selection of costumes is immense and they carry high quality costumes, not fake lookalikes that seem plastic. The shop has everything you can imagine, I really think this should be everyone's first stop. The service was excellent, they went above and beyond to help us last minute and saved the day for us. I'm so incredibly grateful that I had to share. Best costume shop in Vegas by FAR!

Horrible experience. Went for a "Store Closing Sale" which was downright lie, I found out the store was changing locations. Owner proceeded to also scream at an employee who I assume was family using cuss words loudly with children in the store. Someone else came in looking for a petticoat which they had called in about, to which she screamed "Its by the poodle skirts". If its the first time in your store how would they know where said poodle skirts are. I watched that gentleman leave. Overpriced to which she told a different customer "If you want cheap go to Party City". Given some items in the store are higher quality there are definitely "bag costumes" in this store. Also bag items that have been WORN/WASHED you are still trying to sell full price. I looked at a bag Harley Quinn costume where the diamonds were cleared warped from washing. At least Party City has fresh new costumes without the attitude.

Marty was great to work with. I walked in, he didn't expect me and told him I needed a costume on that day for a disco party in the evening. I told him I really wanted to stand out and he delivered! I felt like I had my own personal shopper. He walked me through the store and gave me several options. We eventually landed on a bright orange outfit that blew everyone away at the party. I don't live in Las Vegas and was in town for a conference, but felt compelled to leave them a positive review since I had such a good experience.

I rented a costume for a short film, we had complications where we couldn't film on the planned day. I still needed the costume, but I was going to have to return it before we could film again. American costumes were kind enough to extend my rental so I'd be able to use it for my film with no additional cost. They are a great company, and look after the customers needs.

A large selection to chose from, hence the extra star. The owners are not very good at customer service, even downright abrasive. One customer family left irritated while we looked around. We while checking out, the man was patronizing my adult daughter, asking if she was a "good girl" and put away something she picked up to look at. If the sale hadn't already processed, we would have left too. As we left, we were asked to "Like" them on Facebook. Ha! Yeah, no.

American Costumes is AMAZING, chock full of things you would never find elsewhere!!! After looking all over town for a Donald Trump wig (for my son’s school presentation), and being jerked around by the “year-round” Halloween costume stores (that will go unnamed) & even checking the professional theater costume places around town, I found Marty. He not only had the exact Trump wig we were looking for but even arranged for us to rent it instead of having to pay for a wig that we would only need/use for 10 minutes. …Went in on a Monday, presentation was the next day…but the teacher postponed. Called Marty, who accommodated an extension on the rental without a problem (no extra fee for 2 more days)... BUT that’s not all! The teacher put it off again!! Thought I was S.O.L on my deposit, called Marty (yet again) & he said “just come in when you’re done with it & we’’ll figure out something fair”. Just returned it today, 8 days later, Marty was more than empathetic & understanding, gave me my ENTIRE deposit back and no extra charges for all my delays! It’s hard to find not only such well-equipped stores but stand up people in this town anymore…You can find both at American Costumes.

This place has a decent amount of costumes, but as others have said the staff there isnt the nicest. I was texting my girlfriend and one staff member kept trying to look over my shoulder to see what i was texting on my phone. Finally asking me what i was texting i told him i was texting my girlfriend and he just laughed. I know it says no picture taking allowed, if he was worried about that he couldve just asked instead of read my texts. For that never going back to this store.

This place has a lot of custom costumes and rentals but 2/3 staff member who were working on 10/23/2017 were absolutely rude. I asked the price of two costumes to the heavier set guy and he said “I don’t know the prices on anything ask the man up front” I thought it was weird seeing that he worked there and didn’t know the prices. I then asked what the average price on costumes in the store would be and he rolled his eyes and said “really?! I just told you I don’t know and to ask someone else”. I really liked the costumes so I figured I would ask the prices to the man up front. When I did the guy said $80 I asked if there was anything similar that was a bit cheaper. He said “ yeah right! Your in the wrong damn store” and then walked away to another customer. Craziest thing is that I found the same exact cape around $30 at other costume stores. The lady that was working must have seen this because she walked quickly up to us and said sorry I guess no one wants to help you and proceeded to be very helpful. We left though of course. Very rude staff except for the older lady. I would suggest going elsewhere for your costume needs.

I work for a large scale event company and called them the day before an event because the jacket I had ordered online was out of stock. Not only did they have what I needed in their HUGE inventory, but they were so helpful with the size conversions. They were so nice over the phone and even more of a joy in person. Both Marty and his wife have such friendly demeanors, it was such a pleasure working with them. The jacket they provided was clean, steamed and ready for use! Their costumes are genuine, high quality and look so professional. I highly recommend checking them out for any event you need costumes for!

I was in need of a 20's style suit for an upcoming wedding (long story). I was bracing for a prolonged, painful search for something that would foot the bill but luckily I went to American Costumes first. They have a LARGE collection of costumes covering so many genres that you could get lost looking at them all. They rent as well as sell costumes which is a nice feature depending on your needs. The owner was extremely helpful and without his assistance, I might not have found the perfect item. He took a genuine, personal interest in helping me and that made a big difference. The website said it was 24 hours. However when I rolled up at 8:30 Saturday morning trying to get fairy wings for a wedding at 5:30 pm they were closed. I'm not talking closed but someone was there I'm talking about doors locked and gated with. Ot any sign of life at all. I am now very frustrated. The bride is on the verge of tears and the her fiance is close to punching a wall.

Okay, so I don't usually write reviews but after the experience I had here, I felt I had to. It was the day before Easter and my mom, my sister and I were trying to find a chicken costume last-minute for our Easter church program at church the next day. We actually had gone somewhere else but they were closed early for the holiday. We googled it to see what other costumes shops were around - we chose this one because of all of the positive reviews we found. The minute we got there, we knew we weren't in Kansas anymore. We rang the door bell and waited for someone to come open the door. A cheerful man wearing a hat came to the door and started singing to us - it was awesome! We walked inside with high hopes of finding our desperately needed chicken costume. Every single item in that store looked so real - like stuff they use in all the movies and it looked very well taken care of, too. Marty & Tina (the shop owners), were so friendly, so fun, and basically, they both really wanted to help us as much as they could - which in fact they did! They gave us an incredible deal on an amazing chicken suit - exactly what we had pictured and hoped for. They also let my sister try on a bunny head so she could take a picture. This whole experience was just so amazing, something I'll definitely never forget, and I'm actually very glad we ended up going there - I now know where I'm going the next time I need a costume! I do want to add, that Marty & Tina were just absolutely wonderful - they were individuals who truly care about helping their customers. That is what everything is all about in these kinds of situations. We were in a real tough spot and don't know what we would have done without them & their help. You guys are awesome - thank you for everything & thank you for all that you do!!(:

If I could rate 0 I would was in there for 5 minutes before I had to leave, customer service was the worst! First off I was greeted by whom I’m assuming is the owner, no welcome feeling in the store whatsoever first thing she had to say to me was I can’t have my big bag in the store I have to leave it in my car not even a simple welcome. As I was browsing I put my 3 year old down. She was right behind me didn’t touch a single thing wasn’t running wasn’t talking and the lady goes crazy telling one of her employees to get that child away from the wall because they get “nervous” that the child might hurt themselves with the hooks, mind you again she was nowhere near the freaking hooks and she felt the need to yell across the damn store. I’m pretty sure I’ve visited hundreds of stores that have hooks and my child didn’t poke her eye out. Lady word of advice a welcome when a customer comes in the door before demanding anything else and not yelling across the store to someone’s child who isn’t doing anything might get you more business.

Upon originally entering the store we were followed and initially treated somewhat rudely, which prompted me to ask if they had many thefts there, and was told, "no, but many people damage the costumes from handling them". Understandable, the visit became a little less invasive after that. We actually had a positive experience for the rest of the visit. So much so that I offered to give them some vintage jackets upon the pickup of my wife's rental. I just picked up a "flapper girl" rental for my wife, unbelievably rude customer service! I was told by my wife that a cigarette holder would be included for the price of the one night rental ($135)! When I enquired about it I was told that it would be an additional $20... Ok, but my wife explicitly said it was included! At this point I informed her (as she obviously didn't recognize me from our previous visit) that I was the guy that was going to "give" them some jackets (previously, she had stated our next rental would be free). I wasn't asking for anything in return for the jackets, just a gesture of kindness on my part, due to them being too small for me... at that point I really didn't feel so charitable anymore, so I offered to just pay for the cigarette holder... Enter Marty, he comes storming onto the scene accusing me of trying to get something for free and he knows my kind! LOL! MY KIND?? He says, "you must be from New York!" Whatever THAT means! I was asking for nothing that wasn't promised!! Then I was told my jackets were too small! He never even seen them!! I said, "too small"? 2 size 40s and one 42? He then pulls out a cigarette holder and a box of fake cigarettes and says "HERE, TAKE THEM"!! We don't need your business!" and proceeds to put the rental I paid for away! I say, "I've already paid for that!" He brings it back, I take the rental and then the woman says, "so I don't get the jackets?" UNBELIEVABLE!!! I just looked at her and said.."well, no, I'll throw them on EBay and make $300"... this just happened so I had to write this review while it was fresh in my mind! I dread bringing the costume back, but will DEFINITELY NOT subject my wife to these people alone!! AND just so I'm not accused of LYING about the jackets (as was insinuated), I've included photos of the jackets I WAS going to give them, as well as my private collection, to prove I didn't need them, and WAS NOT asking for a handout!! UPDATE! All of your bad reviews couldn't be drunkards! You are a clown that has no business sense! How you've been in business this long is a miracle! You are probably the alcoholic, which would explain your irrational behavior! Not only are you probably a drunk, but you are also delusional, as was evident by your appearance on Pawn Stars, trying to sell one of your crappy costumes for thousands of dollars! Rick offered you more than it was worth, but in your delusional state, you wouldn't even make the deal!! Nice going!!! LMAO!!! As far as me not going in with my wife, it was intentional! After reading your reviews and seeing the ridiculous charges that were incurred by other customers upon returning the costume, we decided to have her go in alone and over compliment your services, so as not to have you take your anger out on us!! They have a lot of great vintage showgirl costumes and head pieces in their store closing sale however the prices are still extremely high. Showing 50% off but then saying original price for the 3 decades old used headpiece was $2500 so sale price $1250. A lot of headpieces said $400 for sales price. Since they are moving, not closing, prices may not get too much lower.

I looked for over an hour on the net for singing telegrams in Las Vegas - I AM so thankful I found American Costumes! I wanted a singing telegram for My Man's Birthday - MIND YOU - I called on Tuesday - and wanted this to happen on that Friday - and ON VALENTINES Day! It was a complete HIT!
