REVIEWS OF The Garment District IN Massachusetts

Mary Harvey

Great place to find vintage and lightly used/new clothes. Today found a vintage 50s dress for a sock hop. Attendance at the changing rooms a little spotty

Mark LeTourneau

Fun and eclectic spot to find fun your not so easy to find costumes and of course your everyday threads. Around Halloween is a wee chaotic but fun to experience. Good for all ages and worth visiting.

Ted Arthur

You want it? They got it! They got things you don't want either, but are fun to try on!

Manouska Maurasse

I had so much fun shopping for random stuff. Great customer service and friendly staff. As well as great selection of clothing.

Tamika Law

I felt out of place. I felt like my business wasn't as appreciated as the others around me. I noticed that other customers were being serviced and assisted with their shopping needs and we were over looked the entire time. I even applied for a job just to prove my point and my interview ended before it even started. I didn't fit the "look"... But I did buy some awesome shoes from their once for wicked cheap.

Jonathan Ellis

Lots of cool clothing and styles. Seems to be reasonably priced. Got a nice vintage denim jacket for 35.

Alicia Norregaard

Outrageous prices! :(

Ophelia Louise

The best thrift store I've found for clothing. Everything stays well sorted and there always seem to be plenty of folk on staff on the weekends when I visit. Never have to wait more than a few seconds to be offered a fitting room.

Cambodian Missile

pretty cool I guess

Brennan Hill

A little overwhelming at first, but follow the signs and be okay with getting lost. I've thrifted all over the world and it's a little more expensive than I'm used to, but they do have some interesting stuff and I'm never disappointed.

Olivia McCarthy

I was disappointed by the lack of extended sizes.

Steve Mathieu

Great selection of costumes and normal clothes too.

Alison Noon

Good finds here. Known for its dollars-per-pound pile of laundry, which doubles as entertainment for onlookers. Demerit for the odors

Dave Ekrem

Great place for Halloween costumes. It's much better than a regular pop-up costume shop.

ms. k

Unique, vintage, off beat, costumes, fun

Claudia Dias

Nice place

Gagan Srivastava

One of the largest vintage and thrift clothing store you will ever go to. Has large number of options but you would have to search long and hard to find something you would like.

ProjectLove Boston

Too over priced

Jonathan Bedard

My entire family loves this place - we fill up a couple bags sorting through the mountain of clothes from the new bales opened every morning - we go once a year and at $2 pound we save $100's of dollars on clothes for every type of occasion.

Corey Adams

One of my all time favorite thrift stores.

Boopy Doo

WOW..UR GONNA LOVE THIS PLACE

Yousef Casey

Great breands and delass, highly recommended to go to clear your mind and shop.

colby shepherd

Always a fun place to visit for second hand, especially for anything Halloween related.

Andres de Loera-Brust

Pretty good costume selection, and then lots of vintage stuff to sift through for gems

Matthew Urick

Trendy good deals cool cool

Gershon Ballon

Has very eclectic assortment of used clothes for cheap. A big draw is the discount pile of clothes on the first floor. The condition of most items is at least fair.

Dybbuk Klezmer

Incredible selection, well organized and clean, with lots of dressing rooms. One of the best thrift stores I know.

Rosswell Grenier

A costume lovers paradise, the amount of gems hidden among piles of garbage here is wonderful, definite hipster paradise

Andrew Tomas

Great eclectic place for clothing

Max Lisanti

Great selection of both modern and contemporary clothes- the perfect balance of practical and quirky style. Great staff, great atmosphere

Grimlocke Von Hecht

You never know what you're going to go home with.

Michael -Mitch- Lewis

I get fully 80% of my clothes here, including many of my shoes. They have a really diverse selection of styles and somehow they always keep their stocks quite full. Merchandise is almost always used, but very good quality and quite cheap in price. The strong point of this place is the sheer diversity of stuff. They have all kinds of colors, all kinds of fashion periods, 50s jackets, 60s bell bottoms, 80s tees, 90s baggy pants ... if you like to go on an adventure and see what you can find, this is the place to go. Really good costumey/accessory stuff as well - belts, handbags, etc. They even have a dedicated clothing section for physical working conditions. Do not expect selection to be consistent here across body sizes and types. This is not the kind of place where you meticulously plan beforehand what you'll buy and try on different sizes of the same garment. They have a lot, but it's a what-you-see-is-what-you-get deal. I've never left empty-handed.

Noora Shehab

Year round costumes, makeup and party items. Prices are a bit higher but you're paying for convenience -one stop shop!

Elizabeth Caruso

Huge old factory space that houses costume rental and sales, stage and special effects makeup, and used clothing, shoes and accessories. The prices here are higher than many other second hand shops. However, there is a "by the pound" section that comprises the used clothing equivalent of the ball pit at Chuck E Cheese. You can wade (literally) in and fill a bag or bags that are weighed at the cash register. Lots of denim, including a wall of overalls. Good for diy costumes and for period garments from the 70s onward. One bargain we noticed was a number of pairs of cowboy boots with leather soles -- perfect for country and line dancing and under $50.

Liam Hefferman

If you're interested in odd clothing, or just need to find "that one shirt", it probably'll be at The Garment District. Somewhere. Be prepared to dig through piles and piles of stuff to find the diamond in the rough, and it is certainly possible it's not there: they don't have everything. But if you want to work on costumes, wear some new clothes... There's few other great places like this. Don't miss the clothes by the pound pile as you head up the stairs, either! And Boston Costume right downstairs as well.

Elizabeth Hill

Best place for costumes - EVER. Helpful friendly staff and quick checkout lines!!!

Anthony Craig Evans

Cool spot for old clothes.

Ryan M

a lot more organized than I'm used to seeing in thrift stores which is really cool. I suggest looking around first and then save the "by the pound" section for last. :D

Wesley Tansey

Amazing selection. As an austinite, I can confidently say this is the of the best thrift stores I've ever been to

Will Capriola

Great variety of used clothing + costumes. Cool place to browse

Andrea Perra Antonucci

I love this place. Today's trip was for a 70's disco outfit and we were successful within 10 minutes but stayed another hour just to keep looking around. You can find anything here. I swear they have all my 80's sweaters and my mother in law's collection of 90's colorful tracksuits...

Katharina Meyer

Fun place! They have a huge variety of clothing from different decades. Of course, this place is great to find costumes!

Angel Chambers

This place is awesome. I love it here.

tittsntattoos4u Muah!

Bring baby wipes. Store is very busy on Saturdays.

Risa K.

Prices too expensive for a thrift store

Gia Love

Absolutely love this store all year round

Alexander Michaud

The first time I came here, they were totally decked out for Halloween. You could walk in with no idea what sort of costume you wanted and find something insane. I came back recently and had a ton of fun browsing their upstairs section, which is technically just second hand clothes, but a lot of it is funky or retro stuff. This actually makes it a funny, creative date spot, but you might be hard pressed to find things you'd actually wear in real life (unless your taste is a little eccentric).

Rebekah White

The boutique clothing can be a bit overpriced, but the second hand stuff for the most part is kick ass. There's also something really gratifying about digging through the buck-a-pound and coming up with gold!

Virnalisse Echevarria

What Can I say? I'm so very disappointed by the Value of the store. I waited so many years to finally travel to come visit Garment District. To find out The prices for second hand Garments was ridiculously overpriced. Not only that it was very filthy as in you can see tons of accumulated dust all over the ceiling and building. If your willing to pay lots of cash on one piece of item then feel free to shop here at Garment District. Me on the other hand will be my first and last time I come to Garment District. I was so happy when I came in to come out sad when I left. It broke my heart.

Matthew Miller

The mix of new and used clothing can be a bit surreal. Walking around can feel like slipping through a time warp at times. I found what I needed for the costume I was creating at a price I was happy with.

Natalie

Overpriced but some good clothes

SnowPea ;-/

Discount store with a decent amount of stuff. Not a lot of variety (savers has more) but some good finds are there if u hunt. Great for shoes if ur lucky w sizes. It's a secondhand thrift store basicly that also does costumes

W B

Great Thrift shop for vintage and other clothes. When in Boston this is a great visit for Thrift shop fans.

Minh Long

This is undoubtedly the most stylish thrift shop I’ve visited. The selection is huge although price is more expensive than other charity shops. The interior is colorful but easy to navigate. Staffs are helpful. I took my Ray Ban off to try on a clothes and forgot it. I thought It’s a no hope to find it in a thrift shop since anyone could have taken it away, but when I asked the staff, they said that they had found it and put it to locker. What a relief.

Jasmyne Howard

Love this place. By the pound option ($2 Everyday and $1 on Friday. You can purchase costumes and other vintage clothing and shoes. Favorite place to shop.

Joshua Berk

Get ready for Halloween @ Garment District -- the best place ever for costumes + accessories (organized by style or decade). A fun/unique way to buy (often ironic) clothing (pay by the pound), with an inventory that boasts over 15,000 square feet of new/used clothes and shoes (at very low prices). The staff is extremely helpful.

Nicole Radunsky

The Garment District is like a fantasy land for vintage shoppers. Essentially it is a vintage department store, organized by item type and age of the clothes. They also have a lot of amazing new things that are hard to find elsewhere. My sister once had spent months searching for a fanny pack before a trip we were going on. As soon as she told me her problem I headed to the garment district and was able to send photos of about 20 different options that fit her needs. I've found so many really incredible treasures there that have become signature pieces.

Alicia Liu

by the pound is literally the smartest thing I've heard of.

chloe alligator

A lot of vintage clothing and very friendly staff, but the prices are a bit high compared to other thrift stores.

Trang Nguyen

This is a very interesting place to visit, and you can definitely get some unique clothing. For me, it's a bit too much though. If you have time to dig through a lot of meh clothes though, you might find some treasures!

Cat Fulgione

good clothes-- overpriced though bringing the rating down. i had collected-- in the bag they give you-- a jacket from the by the pound section and carried it with my as I continued looking around and I was followed by the staff for a very long time, confused as to why I was bring followed around and then they took the bag and said it would be at the register. That didn't seem necisarry at all. still bought it although that kinda made me not want to

katie baird

It has a variety of costumes but the only thing I do not like is the fact that it has no returns or exchanges. Plus they are a little bit on the expensive side.

Jorja n James Williams

Left with hives...over priced used clothing and shoes...smelt like a damp basement...better luck at any Good Will. They DO have a decent Halloween section...but 60 bucks for an imitation straight jacket gives you hint of higher prices. Go with deep pockets..nose plugs and will be ok...not for the budget poor at all. After seeing countless ads I could not wait to go....glad I killed the curiosity.

Joe Byrne

you can go digging in the pay by the pound section for some awesomely cheap finds or head to a more curated store upstairs for a higher-price/less-effort vibe. mad recommended

Dominique Florence

Best Place for costumes and retro clothes!

Kritika Prasher

Really terrible place to shop

MusicMan Reviewer

Went here for the first time since we are from North Carolina. We do not have anything like this place in NC. I loved it. I wish I brought a bigger suitcase. We left empty handed. Thanks for the experience.

Michael Bossetta

It’s not often these days you find a vintage clothing shop that actually has cheap prices! Of course, it’s always a bit of luck to find something that fits you, but this place has such a large selection I’m sure men, women, and kids will all find something - from fine threads to costume gear. Even if not, it’s worth a visit to check out the inside...a very funky place!

Nurin Jeslina

Nice place to buy vintage clothes

Oyin Olagbegi

God i love this place

Zach Frye

I love a place that lets you find and create nearly any costume idea. Truly a unique place.

Melissa Quigley

Dollar for a pound is now two dollars for a pound but it is still worth every cent. Times change but the Garment District is still somewhere my friends and I go every single time I'm back in the states! Heck, I got a silk shirt and a prom dress from there for about five dollars and they're amazing. All sorts of stuff here whether it's for ethical shopping folks or people just looking for a cheap costume outfit (not from their costume section though; those things are more expensive..). All around love it!

Hannah George

I wish I could give zero stars. Racist much?! I have visited this store multiple times and this time it was the worst experience ever. Found a few items I liked and was about to cash out. The lady at the register greeted me with an awful scowl. Not even an hello, or did you find everything okay. Instead she said "let's start by cashing out your items from the Pound first." She proceeded to ring up my items from the Pound, then I paid for them. Then she began to ring up the items from upstairs. When she told me the total I respectfully told her I wanted to make sure enough was in my account to cover the purchase. I politely told her to serve the person behind me. As she cashed him out I noticed a complete difference in the way she treated him compared to how she treated me. She greeted him politely, laughed with him and was personable. After she finished serving him, she greeted the other person behind me, as though I was invisible (both customers were Caucasian). Then I looked at her and she said in a rude tone, "are you going to buy this or what?" I said yes, she rung up my items and I said to her "I heard you offering the other customer a discount, do I get one?" She said, in a matter of fact way, "No!" After she finished cashing up the items I noticed she had not given me my items from the Pound, they were just sitting on the scale in the bag. I was livid at the blatant disrespect and the immense lack of customer service she showed me. After getting my items off the scale I then asked to speak to the manager. The manager seemed unbothered and aloof as I asked why some people were given discounts and others weren't. She said that only friends of their employees were given discounts. I don't think that's fair, but I was more so disgusted by the way the manager and the awful sales representative explained the reason I was not given a discount. I left there knowing that I would never return. This store is definitely no longer a place where everyone of all races are welcomed and respected!

Lara K

I was in the store earlier this week, i witnessed a couple of women who were there working be completely disrespectful to a customer. I guess this customer "improperly" hung up some clothes she had just tried on and one of the employees made a VERY snarky comment to her about it. Then that same employee began talking about the costomer rudely AND loudly to another employee. They were laughing and saying very hurtful things. The customer clearly heard them and just looked so sad and confused. It was really disappointing to see the employees behave this way. Completely unprofessional, disrespectful, and just downright cruel. I urged the girl to make an offical official complaint with the store. I hope these two women are fired. I work in customer service as well and this was just so astounding I've never seen anything like it.

Clementine Hess

Love the dollar-a-pound pile. Clothes upstairs are organized into clear categories and are easy to go through. Lots of changing rooms. Many items are more expensive than your typical thrift store, but this is no typical thrift store. The back room upstairs is all organized by decade.

Victoria Cassierra Plummer-Bastien

Definitely the place if you're looking for era-specific fashion! There's a huge selection, and they are separated by size and color, so navigating wasn't hard at all.

Quinn McGillis

Not very many shops like it in Boston. Great selections, awesome styles, and great prices. This place will definitly satisfy anyone's desire for vintage, classic clothing.

Izzuddin Diwan

Good variety, a bit chaotic at times

Michaela Dorsey

It's an absolute must to stop here! The store is amazing to explore, they are so much more than just a thrift store. I highly recommend going.

Sam Landry

Oh man I have so much great stuff to say about this place. The madness of it is beautiful, there's so much appealing to so many that it's nearly impossible to walk out without some thing. While you won't catch me in the sea of clothes when they do their 'by the pound' deals--its surreal watching it--you best believe my wardrobe expanded. I'm currently wearing shoes and a button up I got there, and both at great value & quality

shellie leger

Great selections and low prices

Tim Wood

You can find clothes worth $20+ in their clothes by the pound pile. At first it kind of seems intimidating - it's literally just a giant pile of used, unwashed clothes. But, A LOT of them are really good quality, and just need a wash. I regularly find J Crew, Bebe, AE, and other designer brand clothes in there. You can also find jeans, which look brand new, for ~1.5 pounds each for $3 ($2 per pound), or $1.5 ($1 pound) on Fridays. If you haven't at least gone and checked it out, you're missing out. If you don't find at least one thing you say: "Hey, I'd actually wear that!", then you're a nudist.

Peter Salem

A really cool store for vintage clothes and costumes. If you need a specific outfit in a pinch, you can probably cobble it together here. Lots of retro stuff and accessories.

Ramatu Kandakai

Once you enter this place, you are grossed out by the pile of clothes on the first floor, it is only until you get to the second floor area that you see some organization. Sorted by decades you can find some funky 70s and 80s gear but if you have the time to dig through you can find some chic clothes to wear. I was able to get a very cute black Zara blazer for only $14 dollars, what a steal!!!!

HLS HLS

ONE OF MY FAVORITE PLACES! Great buys, all kinds of styles to choose from. Huge Hallowee. Selection.

Alma Love

expensive priced items, some good finds in the pile.

Okella Wood

Cool stuff cheap

Felicity Gardiner

Very well curated high quality items

Barbara Walsh

I always find something here, whether it's a sweater, leggings or boots.

Lawrence Clifford

Good folk, great variety. Most of my clothes come from this store. Highly recommended.

Olin Callaghan

Fun place to dig for vintage treasure. Fair prices, and a giant selection, as well as a costume shop!

Skippy Zc

It's so much fun!

Joseph Chow

Clothes for less.

Michael Zhang

You can easily find a vast array of eclectic outfits from this popular thrift store nesting inside an old warehouse. For literally pennies on the dollar, you can find any number of styles to suit a last-minute event or a get-together. The biggest plus is that you don't even have to only have $20 in your pocket to enjoy these great deals! If this review was helpful, please consider a thumbs up. It would be greatly appreciated!

Lisa Sharog

The place to go for 2nd hand clothes

Jessica Shattuck

Huge variety of clothes to choose from! The whole store is sectioned off by different types of clothes/themes of clothes. Easy to pick through. Will be shopping there often!

David Orellana

Got an amazing vintage windbreaker here. I love it.

The Kaiser

They sell clothes by the pound, how cool is that?

Gina Hart

Ok but only street parking near it make sure you put lots of money in the meters or ypu will get a ticket. The clothes are a little more than goodwill or any other thrift store.

PunkAndOtherStuff -

Best clothing store ever. Clothes are always in good shape when not on the floor and all is reasonably priced.

Liz Looker

The Garment District is one of my favorite places in Cambridge for vintage clothes, especially if you have a free 30 or 45 minutes to really wander around and explore. Clothes are divided into eras, so if you're looking for a 90s blouse (they have a great selection), just look for the shirts in the 90s section. Staff are helpful and the environment is fun - which you'll notice as soon as you see the bright pink on the building! There is also an extensive costume selection, which I don't frequent as often, but based on my experience in the vintage section, staff will always help you find what you need.

Arlene Hohneker

50% off sales can't beat it. You can get great deals on clothes (pay per pound). They have costumes and vintage. I'm giving them 4 stars because they don't really have much in plus. What they sell is what they get in customers skinny college kids mostly sizes 5-9. Seeing the 80s section makes me nostalgic if I ever see a sailor's top or knickers (knee length pants that button at the knee circa 18th-early 20th style pants) I will bust a gut laughing. I wish their vintage stuff extended into gothwear then I can revisit my youth I never had living in suburban NJ preHot Topic/Early Torrid/internet shops. I also wished they had more in a work clothes section. Not a lot of places carries Dickies and restaurant work gear. They do have jumpsuits. Great for mechanics, furniture movers, and skydivers. This place is a landmark. I think it has been around since the 70s or 80s. An ex-boyfriend showed me this place back in 2007 and was amazed by how much they have in such a small area. Definitely worth the long hike from Kendall/MIT stop down Broadway if you cross over by the one Marriott and cut through the hotel it is shorter than the other exit at the station. 10-15 min walk past Akamai and other biotech offices past Galileo Galilei Way intersection. Not sure if any buses going to Harvard or Lechmere stations stop near there.

Christian Richter

Quite big, lots of stuff, good prices

Frank Anes

Its a confusing store... think a costume store meets thift shopping. That said, where else can you find a Halloween costume in a rush in the middle of March?

Laylah Tsay

Very unique experience, especially for thrifting. If you want the most original clothing go here. Every section is completly categorized and fit to what your looking for. Part of the downstairs is all costumes (which is awesome), then another part is where they have this crazy deal where you put abunch of clothes in a bag for like around $20ish? i think we left with like 20 items of clothing and paid for $30. Its basically this massive bundle of clothes and you dig through whatever you find is yours. Its only the clothes in that bundle thats part of the deal. The upstairs is all organized and more effiecient. Literally everything is labeled if you want hawaiian dad shirts they have a whole rack. If you want 90s windbreakers they got ‘em. If you want rock tees. etc. you get it, its great.

henry goldfarb

Interesting curated collection of vintage and seconds hands contemporary clothes. Also has clothes by the pound, if searching through a vast heap of clothes is your thing.

Alan Ames

So fun and amazing finds!

Timothy Whitby

Had a nice selection of vintage and not so old men's clothes. Some gems mixed in with average shirts.

David Slayback

If you need clothes cheap, have some time, and are willing to take the chance you might not find anything, hit this place up. For a thrift store, it's surprisingly well sorted and stocked, including sections for specific decades, uniforms, and costumes (although no non-work shorts, sadly). I picked up a great shell jacket for $20 that's been a lifesaver for some of the rains we've had here, as well as some basics just to replace older clothes.

dee bradley

This place has came in the clutch when I needed an outfit for a 70s party but they also have nice jackets and men's dress shirts

Jonathan Batres

Great for overpriced things but convenient.

Hunter Conran

Really awesome store, but the prices are insane. I understand they're unique pieces, but $38 for a jacket that has "damaged - as is" written on the tag is pretty steep. I do love the buy the pound section, though.

Emily Raymond

This place has awesome vintage clothes, cheap up-to-date used clothes, and environmentally friendly practices. The staff is helpful and friendly. I got my favorite jeans here for $6. They have a small rack of kids clothes too: I just got a gorgeous Patagonia winter coat for my kid for $12.

M G

Tons of stuff, staff was great.

Kathryn Heal

Great selection of costume-vintage clothing. Some may find the eclectic interior quirky and charming but being in there for 20 minutes nearly gave me a panic attack!

Health Enthusiast

You can find it all here. I did buy my $17 Halloween steampunk dress there. It was new as far as I can tell. There are Halloween's things for all kinds of budgets (body suits start at $7/$8), but you can find complex costumes for $300 if you want to. There are tons of accessories, all new. But you can also go outside of Halloween & find second hand clothes by the pound, or curated ones (more expensive).

Yimin Xu

❤️. Great selection and nice girls (and guy).

Nicole Eigbrett

One of best organized thrift stores relative to its size and selection! Definitely worth a visit if you love secondhand shopping.

James Doyle

Fun, large, alternative vintage clothing store in Kendall Square. This is the best place for adult Halloween costumes in the Boston area.

Scott Ian

This is definitely a unique spot. It's basically tradition for anyone in Cambridge or Somerville to make sure to hit up the garment district to find your costume for Halloween. The nice thing is you can find all sorts of great stuff year round for costumes. At the same time you can check out a huge selection of second hand clothing options at great prices.

Neo Occisor

They have a lot of cool stuff, but it can all be found online for cheeper. They sell used items at standard retail price, and do not offer refunds, (even if you haven't left the building since the purchase)

Jeff Hiatt

Way cool place. Something for everyone.

Ms j

You can still get a good deal but the price went up from when I last visit sometime ago and parking can be a challenge.

Justianna Andrews

Shopping here since a wee lad. Since high school, would drive from NH to Alewife Station to take the train to Kendall Station to get to the Garment District and spend the day "sifting for gold" in "The Pile" and find iconic and unique/authentic vintage pieces for my wardrobe that I wear to this day. Thank you Garment District- you are a true treasure.

Nikita Garagulya

First of all, this isn't really a second hand store. It's not Goodwill or Salvation Army, where everything is dirt cheap and the place is a mess. This place is ready well organized and nearly all garments are relatively clean and usually not too damaged, so they DO sort stuff. The bad is that the prices are much higher than Goodwill/SA, and the selection is a lot less varied (less destroyed stuff, and less stuff in general). Their By the Pound is fantastic, but I prefer to put in time at Goodwill.

kerry akashian

I have loved the garment district since I was a preteen. It is always fun to stop by on a random day or to go in for the sales. I've been impressed with their designer section. Also, they have tons of eighties clothing now. And the clothes are back in style. It is a must for people to at the very least to stop by.

Rakesh Raks

Oh my lot of vintage clothes and unique clothing... You are lucky if you arrive on correct time some clothing is really good they go out on the first day key be..

Marco Rivera

The Garment District offers higher quality used clothes for near retail price. The real deals are clothes by the pound, however finding something you like is difficult, and the costumes on the first floor are A1.

Nayelli Castro

Lots of items to choose from... real jewels for those who are patient

Marcia Lara

One of my favorite thrift stores!

Ava Torres

Not at all worth the hype.

Valery Gonzalez

I loved how organized everything is!!

Dan Adam

Incredible range of clothes for men and women at good prices. I particularly appreciate how well organised and categorised they have it.

Emily Hawkins

Always have a blast going! I’ve brought all my friends and they’ve all had the same experience. Amazing staff that are extremely helpful and just as amazing deals.

Danielle Bianco

Favorite place. Super neat building with excellent selection of clothes and accessories. Have had many many good finds here. Everything is in good condition too. And they have a vintage section in the back.

Amy Lee Jarvis

Great 80's & 90's collection.... 50% off 'til 8p tonight. No A/C in the building so be prepared to sweat!

Vincent R

Excellent thrift and costume store that's been a part of the community forever. Extensive layout, frequently shifting stock, and great costumes for purchase and rent. They also hold 50% off sales several times a year along with special events.

Demichael R.

Great place for all your costume needs around Halloween!! A huge inventory of choice! When it's not time to dress up you can easily find tons of vintage/2nd hand choices here. Highly recommended!

Emma Smith

Christmas party? Ugly sweater selection can't be beat. Halloween costume? They've got it. Vintage leather jacket or denim? Check. When I was late for work and forgot my uniform white button down shirt, I called and an employee was happy to dig through the racks to find one in my size so that all I had to do was run in and pay, then head to work. Truly a neighborhood gem with a fantastic crew and a well organized, unique selection. In a city full of cool spots, the garment district shines.

Christina Galyuk

Got a great pirate jacket last minute!

Michael Huang

It's super packed during the Halloween week lead up. They do open up pretty late until midnight during that week.

Molly Cavanaugh

Staff isn't very welcoming. Music playlist / sound quality is garbage. This place has definitely made a name for itself considering it's one of the few cool vintage/thrift stores in Boston, but it seems they don't care to update their store and the way they merchandise things. This place has mad potential but it gets boring after the first couple of visits. At a place like this, you'd think the staff would be super funky and sociable but from what I've seen, no one seems happy to be there.

nick navarre

This place was awesome! It's a lot more than just the iconic pile of laundry you get to dig through. It's actually very organized and has many different styles and a great selection!

Terevos

Can't beat the selection and prices here. Really good quality stuff.

Nickleen Faucher

Love the amazing selection of vintage and modern clothing. Prices are very affordable and you can get great stuff for both men and women. Years ago there was a wonderful selection of Dr Martens all the time but this seems to have gone away. They sort their pants sizes strangely so you really have to check several sections and read the labels to find what you're looking for.

colleen Payne

I thoroughly enjoy the by the pound room, ad usual. I even scored two items NWT.

Christine HH

It's fun here. Clean and a huge variety of items to choose from. I recommend the $2.00 a pound area. The atmosphere is cool but the prices of the clothing on the racks are SUPER expensive and overpriced. You can definitely find the exact items online for half the cost.

Few outlets. Fair prices. No deals for me. Placed changed a lot from the 1980s

John Collins

Cool place for retro (used) clothing, and costume or dance/theater folks. On the rack or by the pound. I got a leather jacket and a pair of boots for $12.

Benjamin Tang

Great place to find some vintage clothing for the cheap. Gets crazy around Halloween-time. They also have a great selection of costumes and costume accessories

Second hand store meets costume shop. Pretty good combo. They also have the pile which is a giant pile of unsorted clothes that you can purchase for $2 a pound. The best part is they have a massive selection of everything from every decade the only downside is it's a little expensive for you what you would think a store like this would be. Definitely worth the trip every time

I go here every now and then and always have a good time. Expecially fond of the vintage section.

Madeleine Anderson

Love this place. It has great stuff. Absolutely love it.

largest thrift store I've ever seen, biggest selection of plus sized clothes but still not nearly enough

The Garment district is a solid place to grab vintage clothes, of mostly pretty good quality. I've made a number of good jacket finds on their normal racks, and their by the pound pile on the main floor has lots of crazy good deals. They've got a lot of stuff, too, more than most goodwill stores around town. A great place!

Todd Sigley

Amazing! The store is full of great stuff and is excellently organized. Don't miss this beautiful cultural experience.

Jill Smith

A truly unique experience. A must visit for tourists who are makers. Fiber artists and sewing enthusiasts abound. The pile of used clothing by the pound is a must see. The "by the pound" pile is sort of like if someone took a clothing thrift shop, removed all the hangers and racks, and just threw it all on the floor.

They say fashion repeats itself every seven years. So no harm buying old they have some good deals on branded items Costumes are also available. Nice big parking lot visible from main road very very friendly staff. You always get some good stuff here
