Epic waste of time! :)

Danielle Fuentes

Staff is excellent and selection changes quite frequently. Everything is always in good condition.

Cristina Guzman

Horrible customer service. The white blond guy that's the manager there was completely unprofessional. I brought in 5 bags of clothes in more than good condition and he instantly pushed them all to the side, with a nasty attitude throughout the whole interaction. Will never go back to this place, if I could give less than one star I would.

On March 13, I traded in a pair of Fluevog boots, a pair of motorcycle boots, and shoes. That went fine . I chose the credit option, and I found a pair of jeans for my husband's birthday which was just what I needed. I was psyched. Unfortunately, they didn't fit and were clearly marked wrong by the initial manufacturer. The new tags as well as, the" Buffalo Exchange" tags were still on them, which is why they were given up in the first place. These were not 32's but more like 31's. I added them to the pile of clothing to bring in on my next visit. When I went back, none of my things were desirable, so no deal. No problem- except they wouldn't even let me leave the pants(let alone get any credit for them) "Our donation bins are all filled up" "Go down to Urban Renewal...they take donations". I gave my daughter the credit for 40 or so $ to spend in Brooklyn. This place is a real racket with 0 business acumen and savvy. My friend won't be going back either, and she's a big shopper.Nuts to most of the trash you sell as "trendy".Where did this chain start, anyway??? Get it out of Allston. It brings down the neighborhood.

This place is a rip off

Cheyenne Kolody

This can be a great place to find gently used clothing and accessories . The selection is eclectic and new items are added daily. You have to be willing to hunt and it helps if you know your labels.

Frank Wilson

I will not be coming in this store anymore, the buyers could be a little more friendly when you bring in clothes, she said we going to give everything back to you it’s not with my style, you just looked at the clothes for 2 secs and folded it back up. Train your staff better horrible experience I will be going to crossroads where they treat customer like loyalty.

Rudy Taveras

Great place to go buy some fashionable clothes. They are picky with the clothe that they buy from costumers but they always try their best to help you and make you feel comfortable. Met this kid/worker who was really kind. Great place to sell clothe. I will keep being a active buyer and seller. I really recommend this place and specially for the accessories and jackets.

The manager made me feel like I had stolen the stuff I was trying to sell

Really really REALLY great finds.. the best Buffalo Exchange i've been to yet!

Heath Sockwell

Nice selection of various used clothes for men and women. Although prices seem too high for used clothes, at least on the men's section. Went looking for jeans (I didn't pack enough for my trip to DC). Ended up at Marshalls near White House and found some nice new ones for $15.

Renaud Bourassa

Good selection and well organized, this is a great place to go thrift shopping and don't want to go through a ton of junk to occasionally find something good. The downside is that it tends to be more expensive than nearby thrift stores that do not curate their merchandise.

Ali GH

If you are trying to sell clothes, just make sure to bring plenty. Or else you don't get anything in return

3.5 star for okay service in consignment/ reselling clothes If you’re buying clothes from this place, this place’s got really good unique things, with Urban NYC styles. But if you’re reselling your clothes, remember to go to their website to read the instructions. 1. Go with a Take or No Take Mentality When you go there, don’t expect to sell everything for any $$$. I’ve read other comments about people trying to sell a bunch of clothes with the expectation of profiting off of every items they own, and went home with $0. The thing is, this place is a privately own retail store. Even though they take donations, retail stores rely on quality goods to sell. Unlike places like L Train Vintage (previously No Relation on 12th & 1st), they don’t just take anything you offer them. So, really, are you trying to clean out your closet? Or are you trying to make a profit? You really can’t expect too much from them. 2. Know what they sell, but they might not want it. Just because they sell one or two of what you own, doesn’t mean they want it. I had a faux fur coat and a genuine leather jacket to sell. They marked $30.5 for the coat and nothing for the jacket, even tho they were selling lots of both fur coats and leather jackets. The conditions were very good too. So, it depends on your buyer’s taste. Also, I brought in about 30-45 pieces of items and they took only 3-4, marked the price of $70~ and I got about $23.5~ back. Again, come in with a take or no take mentality. I just wanted to 3.You get 30% of their offer Say you take an item to them, and they don’t want it. They’d return it to you or they’d ask you to donate them. But if you present an item to them and they like it, they’ll mark a price, and give you 30% of that price in cash OR 50% of that price in store credit. 4. NEVER TAKE STORE CREDIT I’ve heard too many stories from this store that people loose their store credits after selling their clothes. So, when in doubt, ALWAYS TAKE THE CASH. 5. Bring your ID /PASSPORT. They need your ID/ passport to register your consignment. Not sure why, but perhaps because of reselling stolen items? 3.5 for resell. It’s okay.

Don't waste your time trying to sell to this store. I brought 2 bags full of clothes that were all in good conditions but the arrogant buyer in the store didn't accept any of them. Try to sell at crossroads instead, they are much nicer!

Jessi Schlewitt

Wide selection, from graphic tees to hawaiian shirts to crop tops. I’ve gone twice and found new things that I can wear as is or upcycle. Very excited to go back another time, too.

Sarah Hudkins

Some great finds if you dig! Some things can be pricy and the selection is highly curated, but I bought a great blouse there for $15.

Craig Bartkewicz

Not as good as California s selection s

Skippy Gogo

Times have changed the modern styles but I can still find my lucky13 shirts and my Tripp pants here. Prices are always good and customer service is anyways

Katy Peredo

Unique goods. Helpful customer service

Kevin Spann

Over priced second hand items. For these prices I would rather buy new.

Danielle Kellier

This place is like everything trendy you find at a thrift store minus the musty old things too. And that's why the prices are much higher than a store like say Goodwill. But the items are quality. The staff are pretty friendly and helpful too! So if you want a trendy item but you don't have the time to comb through a thrift store, try this place!

Adrianys Larez

Efrat Furst

Great shop. Cool outfits, amazing service

Juliet Swango

Nice employees and amazing selection, very fair pricing. They have everything from vintage to current designer to everyday great clothes. Accessories and jewelry are awesome. They also sell great new merchandise - unique well-selected styles at reasonable prices. Sellers are friendly and knowledgeable. Love this place and all BEs in NY!

I just dropped by the store to see what I could get for some clothing I had not used at all or enough to keep. My experience was great. The store offers 30% of what they can sell the items for if you want cash. Overall it was easy and they accepted almost everything I brought in from stores like Lucky Brand, Forever 21, Urban Outfitters, and Marshall’s. I even got some cash for some heels I brought in. Definitely recommend you go by and see what you can get for your closet clean out items. You can donate whatever they do not take and they give it to charities :)

Nice place to pick out something you need to were with something else that inexpensive and has a variety of high end shoes and clothing . i like it cause you can go in with clothing you might not wear and exchange it for cash or trade for something else.

You may find anything here. Just keep coming.

Rebecca Ehrenkranz

I got Manolo Blahniks here for $25. It was a miracle. They had Miu Miu shoes too, so clearly this place has some hidden gems if you're willing to take the time to look for them. As with any thrift shop, you're more likely to find something strange than something amazing. However, I've always had good luck finding cute dresses. Overall, there is not a ton of designer or high end clothing here. Prices are definitely reasonable, even if sometimes it's not much cheaper to get an H&M dress here than to buy it at H&M itself.

Vicki Yuen

Great selection of gently used clothes. Lots of interesting styles. Clean. Friendly staff. Reasonably priced.

Marykate Jasper

One of the best consignment shops in the area! Great clothes, though you have to check back often. Clothes are very hipster, though. (It's Allston, though, what did you expect?)

Izaac Tajan

Kat is awesome, and is the best manager out there. If you don't need some old clothes and you don't mind getting a little bit of cash for your clothes then this is the place for ya!

Michael Sparkuhl

Been there a couple of times. Always something new and interesting. Found a couple of men's good quality RL items (Purple Label !!) . Could not believe my eyes and the price was perfect; beat Madison Ave. The counter people are very helpful, always with a smile, especially that long blonde, fashionable looking gal, Ali. She's great.

Tyler Joachim

Nicole Yellowhorse

Great selection from 90s retro to modern chic. Helpful staff and fair prices.

Alana Ceesay

I took four bags of clothes in and they took less than TEN items. They took my AUTHENTIC leather jacket for $35, I got 30% of that. Honestly, not worth it. The vibe in there is kind of cool but it is also very uncomfortable at the same time. This was my first visit and I will never go there again...

Great for funky vintage and very affordable. Staff are a lot of fun

Julie Mollica

I really like the selection they have and have found great stuff on many occasions. Trade-ins are kind of frustrating as it doesn't seem to make sense what they take and what they don't take sometimes. Like I've brought in shirts that have minor pilling or a loose thread and they say it's not a condition they'll except. Although I've seen shirts on the rack that have major armpit stains or jeans with (definitely unintentional) paint smears/splatter. I assume they just lower their standards when buying from people they know or something. Kind of annoying, but I don't care enough to not shop here. Really convenient location, and it's great that they have parking in the back.

Went there for the first time today and got 2 amazing jackets for a very reasonable price! I recommend this spot to anyone and will definitely be going back again!

Inna Tunik

It's an alright thrift store - you can find some good clothes and cool brands over there. Usually it's overpriced though. And some of the clothes are in a not a good shape for the price they are asking for.

the cashier was very nice, but the person looking through the clothes was horrible, very impolite and didn't even look at me in the eye. Went to the one on 26th st instead, they're great over there.

(Translated by Google) Looking for you can find quality things at a good price. They also buy clothes. They do not give a bag when you buy, but they sell you one for 2 dollars, which is cool. (Original) Buscando puedes encontrar cosas de calidad a buen precio. También compran ropa. No dan bolsa cuando compras, pero te venden una por 2 dólares que está chula.

I sell my old clothes here often and they are always super thorough and talk you through everything. I love spending my money here too, such a variety of things and relatively inexpensive. Staff is great too and are always so nice. Parking could be better but that’s not their fault..

Great second hand clothing and accessories. They curate selections that people sell off to them. They look current and vintage fits that are in trend. Accessories as well.

Not really impressed by Buffalo exchange. They say they’re taking all clothes but they’re really not. I went in to sell some of my clothes a lot of them which were bought recently and still had tags on them and they did not take Anything from the whole bag. And a lot of the stuff for new. They told me that they were looking for certain things that I don’t understand how a thrift store could turn down new clothing. Very disappointed in them

elicia murchison

Awesome so friendly I definetlu recommend coming here they also buy so you can get a little side cash

Henny White

I brought in over 100 items in good condition. Ramel 'the manager' insisted that the things I had were out of season. I didn't know season mattered in a thrift store. Everyone before me sold all their items. I felt I was treated unfairly. He only bought two items. Won't return.

Ana Sofia Siliezar

I wish I can give 4. I have been going to Richmond VA and the staffs were super friendly and more spacious store. This store in DC, the staffs were friendly but I think it will improve a lot better if they set up customer services better and more faster efficient to serve customers. Like one staff focusing on the clothes to buy. Then the rest staffs focus on the cashier. Also I think the store should look other space that is more bigger. Overall, staffs was friendly. Just need to improve on the customer service system in the store.

Jasmin Taylor

They didn't have a great selection in the store and were very picky with what styles they accept for trade which was surprising. I traded with them before and it was great but the new staff is not so accommodating. Unless you have brand new stuff with tags don't go to trade there. I had name brand heels in great condition and they wouldn't take them in.

cathi Newman

When you call they faill to tell you that the clothes had to be purchased within the year I had to drive from the northeast heights down there and they wouldn't even buy the nice mens shirts I had I was trying to get money for food I wasted a lot of gas for nothing I really recommend you don't use them to buy or sell

Christian Schramm

Rude staff. Lousy variety

Zeb Virkus

A great selection at affordable prices. Just remember to bring your own bag! Staff is always friendly.

I came looking for a denim jacket and immediately found what I was looking for. So many unique options in this store, and you will not always find what you're looking for, but very worth rummaging around. So many great pieces if you look hard enough with an open mind. Very grunge modern.

Like most buy-sell clothing shops in Manhattan, every visit is a hit or miss depending on their current inventory. The few times I've been in this place, it has seemed a little bit too picked over for my preference, and the racks weren't very full as well as a line about 3 people deep to sell your stuff. So, while I wouldn't necessarily choose this location to shop, because it seems like they're a busy branch it might be a great location to bring your stuff in to sell as it looks like the demand is much higher here than other locations. In general, still a good place to pop into on occasion to see what they've got in store!

Robert Reed

Carlos Azpurua

I would say that the selection of male stuff is horrible and incredibly over priced. The only time I have found a good deal there was when I bought a leather jacket for $30, but besides that time of the time I go to the store and I don't buy anything. The reason is because the clothes are incredibly horrible or are at the same/too close to the price of the same thing BRAND NEW!!!! I don't even think hipsters will buy there. Honestly, I rather be patient looking for stuff in a thrift store than going again there. I would not talk about the staff because my only interaction with them has been when I bought the jacket with the cashier.

I go in here almost once a week, and the staff are always super friendly and welcoming. It's hit or miss on whether you find something you like, but that's the nature of thrifting! Also, while the credit/cash returns on the garments I bring in could be a biiiit better, the staff seem to always take 90-95% of what I bring in

Jenny Veras

I went there to sell clothes in good conditions like casual, office attire and Jean' in hangers with dry cleaner tag, many of those cloth by brand name. They staff was nice but I feel some type of discrimination on get my clothes. I see many pp bring cloth less quality and they accept it. After spend almost 2hr for parking and carrying heavy bags is not worthy your time.

Sam F

Super cute and decent prices!

Stephanie Gehlhar

really cute style there but the prices are definitely too high to be considered a "thrift store."

Emma

I wish I still lived in Boston so I could shop here. Good, unique selection of higher-end used and vintage clothes. I'm very petite, so it's really hard to find clothes (especially vintage clothes) that are small enough for me, but I almost always came out of here with something I loved.

jezreel bassett

I have sold here several times and it’s really never worth the trip. They buy very little for very little, even when i bring items trending on depop or very current name brand items. For example, I have brought in three large bags of nice trendy clothes and gotten ~$16 of credit, which would be much less in cash. They seem to almost never buy pre-90s vintage so don’t bother bringing any. I find the managers to be pretty patronizing about buying which doesn’t make it feel worth the effort. They sort of talk to you as though you would have no clue what’s in, and they are very artificially friendly while they completely waste your time going through your things. One of the managers kept complimenting the items I brought in and talking about how great my closet is as she put them back into my bag as rejects?? It feels really schmoozy and manipulative, they want you to keep making the effort of coming in and they want you to stay to shop, but they don’t want to reciprocate by taking the risk of buying anything from you or being up front when they aren’t looking to buy to begin with. On my last trip the worker told me they were pretty much full of stuff and only looking for select things only AFTER I waited in line and watched her go through all my bags and buy nothing. Why not tell us all that when we come in? When I have gotten some small bit of credit from trading, their selection is really poor and there’s very little I would want. It’s mostly very cheap UO, Gap, or other fast fashion brands, and not usually in particularly good condition. The aesthetic and styles they sell were in when I was in middle school which was quite a while ago. It’s almost as if they aren’t buying enough from people who come in to trade.... lol. I hate to be the bitter lady that writes a bad review, but I wish I hadn’t wasted the trips so hopefully this saves other people the effort.

Zoë McGinnis

Great prices, exceptional service. I was helped by Foxy, who went above and beyond and found stuff that she thought was my style (she nailed it!) as she was putting it out on the racks. She was such a sweetheart and I ended up buying like half the stuff she suggested— give that girl a raise! My only qualm about this store was that they kept putting new stuff out so I kept having to go back and try more things on, haha.

John Howard

Manuel Resendez

False advertising. I was going to buy a back pack for 23$ and when I got to the cash register to pay they said sorry this is at least 60$ it was missed price and they didn't want to honor the price tag. I guess they are going bankrupt

Carmen Sipes

Big selection, nice staff, but a pair of earrings I purchased fell apart the second I took them off the paper. The solder was broken and someone had just stuck them back together.

Demetrius Davis

This place is ok if you’re looking for grunge heavy metal attire or something for Halloween but other than that the place is pretty much a bust. The buyers are clueless when it comes to fashion & the place is not well organized.

m

Given all the reviews from sellers saying that this place is picky I was really disappointed by their selection. Many things looked they belonged in a salvation army. And of the few times that did catch my eye, more than once there were stains or rips.

Staci Dawson

Clothing is hit and miss, but selling is absolutely terrible. Generally not worth the time...

Bonnie Walsh

They are very picky with what they buy, and the used items are overpriced. I will say the staff were very friendly and nice.

One of the better thrift shops b/c I always buy more than I intended to but that's no reason to complain, right? Lol. Pros: 1) You can sell your clothes for money or store credit. 2) It has lots of trendy clothes and accessories at affordable prices. 3) Merchandise is in good condition/lightly used. Cons: Store is kinda small so you may find yourself moving out of people's way often. Updated: 11/4/18 - My original review did not discuss the experience of selling clothes. Today, I revisited the store to give it a try but I was not impressed. I brought in a lightly used pair of Gucci slides and they priced them at $75, which is what they would sell it for. They proceeded to offer me their rates which are 50% store credit ($37.50) or 30% cash ($22.50). I decided not to sell my clothes after all. I owed it to myself to try Poshmark and Ebay first before letting them steal my shoes. It just didn't seem worth it to me.

Every time I walk into this place I find such great pieces! They always manage to have something super stylish that actually fits me and doesn't cost an arm, a leg, and my firstborn child. Today I bought 2 shirts, 2 pairs of pants, and a pair of low top Chucks for $100. I'd call that a win!

lala Corn

Been shopping here for years selling and buying. Staff is awsome manger has always been rude. Then today after years without incident one of her staff placed the wrong tag on an item, and she accused us tampering with it and threatned to ban us from the store..Yea that makes alot of sense because I keep a tag gun in my purse..Instead of stating there was a mistake and actually fixing it you threaten amd accuse customers that have been buying/selling for years. prolly will never shop here again.

Susan M

Great selection. A bit pricey,I think for second hand. Fun to sell you stuff instead of put it on consignment.

Daisy Stanley

Not likely to buy from you if your black. Although having a black manager dont be fooled

I. Love. This. Place. :D <3 <3 <3 It's a like a bottle of happy exploded in one store. If you're willing to put in the time and effort, the selection is actually REALLY GOOD, the buyers are absolute, complete dolls who actually have a good eye for style, and the manager is...well, I just love him. I sell clothes here with some frequency and I have found the pricing to be a liiiiiittle low, but that's because their price point is lower for the customer as well. So. I don't mind getting a little less because I know that savvy thrift shoppers like myself will be getting a good deal on great merchandise. One thing I can't stress enough is that the, er, high handed attitudes that I have experienced at similar places (cough, Beacon's Closet), is NOT present here: the staff here is helpful, knowledgeable, upbeat, and just really, really fun. ;)

Claudia Schwarz

Mark Joseph

Great men's selection - always find something. Will pay the most for trading in clothes (much better than Avalon). Always have good interactions with the very friendly staff. Bag program is a nice added touch.

Alicia Sayer

Toady was the second time I've ever tried to sell here. (Shopped here maybe twice.) I love thirft shopping but find their stuff overpriced. I get they go for the hipster vibe but its still second hand clothes. I wear brands like Loft, Gap, Banana republic, H&M, Old Navy, White House Black Market, Cynthia Rowley, BCBG, Express and the Limited. The two times I've tried to sell there I took sun dresses, slacks, jeans and shoes all in good condition. I'm not a size 0 anymore so some just don't fit. The first lady told me my style was "too mature". I guess a few black Express pants makes you an old lady. Both times they weren't interested in one thing. The buyers are so snobby. Don't get it because I was very polite. I didn't expect to make a lot of money and planned on spending it there anyway. Never shopping there again.

LIOR MORAD

Stephen Walker

Pros: Customer experience, good deals on designer brands when in stock. Cons: Wishy washy sometimes with what they will buy (annoying because we'll call before we come so we can sell as much as we can) what they will "buy" vs. what the "sell" I sometimes have a hard time understanding the logic behind what they buy from customers, and everything I own is current high end/ designer merchandise!

I decided to call first before walking into the store(lesson learned from experience) I tell them that im bringing in a luxurious item in fashion. Some louis vuttion sneakers. I explain in detail the upkeep on this asset that even taking them out the case is a delicate mesure(singnifying the value) that i would just simply like the courteous sellsmanship instead of a haggle. They strait up tell me theyll low ball me. Im better off selling it on my own..... The audacity.

This place was not what I expected. I heard a lot about the company and this place did not live up to the hype. Out of all the Buffalo Exchange locations I like to sell here the most because the line is never crazy. They can be a bit pricey for used clothing but they have very nice pieces.

Love to shop here. They have near new and new fashions along with accessories. Reasonable prices and if you have such items that you don't need and they are in good condition you can get cash and in store credit. It's a win, win for all parties.

I have a love hate relationship with this store. I really enjoy their clothing options, but I'm very offended by their sizing. Everything XL or bigger gets an XL tag. This is highly annoying. I'll grab a cute dress that will say it's an XL only to find out it's a 3XL in the changing room. It's not hard to put the correct size of cloths and create more sections for the extended sizes. I feel like they only cater to S and M sized cloths. They just lump all of the extended sizes together with the XL and just don't seem to care that it makes it harder to look through them.

thrifting is always an experience. you can walk out empty handed or with some nice finds. that's my experience with this location. i don't find as much great clothes as i find in the bk store, but it's still nice to look around. they are really picky about which donations they take in though. i come from the west side way uptown just to find out they're not taking a certain brand this week or this color isn't in for the month. i guess they have to be exclusive but i had great clothes, some even designer. i feel if they accepted more clothing, they would have more of a variety of people coming in and also make more sales. i do realize there are many clothes of the same style...

Took in 4 bags of summer clothes most STILL with the tags on! Brand new never worn hills and wedges and they didn't take one thing! They are so picky.. The girls working judge you, as soon as you walk in. The manager had a horrible attitude(someone needs to be 're-trained on customer service) Took in a perfect condition coach wallet and they wanted to give me $7 for it !! I absolutely do NOT recommend this place!!

Priscilla Barry-Gillilan

Cool place, decent selection. All of the clothing was in great condition and the prices were reasonable.

Terrible terrible terrible I was there today ,they did not buy ,if you have woman or Gay clothes may be you have chance but believe me very low chance ,so you will waste your time

I brought 7 bags of clothes and shoes to there and they didn't want anything. I'm assuming they were looking for big brands like BOSS and PRADA and I heard from other stores that buffalo exchange is SUPER PICKY! For those who are considering going there, please don't go with suitcases and bags. That would only make you exhausted and also get rejected. I did bring clothes in seasons and good conditions but still get rejected out of no reason. Think about it again before you go. It's not their staff are mean, it just they follow certain rules and you don't know if it's worthy to take a try.

Awful. They have mega attitudes and don’t have space to take consignments, go to chelsea or anywhere else but here.

My only complaint is that their selection of men's clothes is pretty small compared to the women's. I suppose it is what it is. I get a ton of my clothes here.

James Talbot

Really cool clothes for dirt cheap. You can find some real gems if you're dedicated.

J C

Really cool shop with friendly people working there. It is not the cheapest second hand shop I've been to but the quality of all the products there is more than good they can easily sell some items as new.

Anastasia Samchuck

I called beforehand to see what they were taking currently because I had quite a bit of items to sell. The gal on the phone said to bring everything. So, I get there and walk a very heavy bin to the door and the girls who work there can see me struggling to lift this bin and just proceeded to watch me struggle and hit my face on the door..... Then the girl says to continue walking to the other counter so I do. I then go to set it on the counter and the girl there says "there's one person ahead of you". I say "Okay, no worries" and still continue to set the box on the counter out of the way. Then she says "No, there's someone ahead of you" I said "can't I just set this down here you can see its very heavy?" and she says OK. She treated me like I was some kind of moron for doing so (why would I take my bin with me, sit down with it, only to take it back up there when A.) there's plenty of room OUT OF THE WAY ON THE COUNTER and B.) She can SEE how heavy it was). I truly feel like she was just judging me, I tried to make light conversation and she still was just rude and barely took anything...then after its all said and done she says "it should be lighter now"....Idk maybe it's just a lack of common sense/customer service or maybe they really are just rude...

Looks awful, like not even worth your time

Okay. I've done these used clothes programs across the country before. I came in about 5:50 pm on a Tuesday night. They only have one clothes buyer on hand for their clothes, and it's first come first serve, meaning if the person in front of you brought multiple suitcases and totes, you are SOL. I only had a handful of items to sell. So my suggestion would be to shift the employees on the floor who aren't doing much to a register to buy clothes and alleviate the line. UPDATE: if you're in the store before they close, they will still look at your clothes and honor your wait time. The selection is decent, but since it's a small store, the selection isn't huge. Pros: good selection, quality brands, friendly employees (shoutout to Brian the buyer here!!) Cons: small store, long lines, too few employees.

Star Gazer

I had a really great time shopping and selling here! I traded some clothing in and also purchased some items. The entire experience was very positive. So, I guess I'll start with what I liked best.. 1. I come from a long background in working with the public so customer service is the biggest thing I notice when i do a first time visit somewhere. If that's bad I don't usually go back. Here I will definitely be back and recommend to friends! These ladies were top notch!! Super friendly and personable. Genuine and everyone was super chic with great personal style :) Gave me more than I was expecting and took almost all of my items!! Yay more $ to shop. Which brings me to... 2. Really great on trend and nice condition clothing and accessories. Prices were low and I LOVE what I bought. I only wish I would have picked up those cool 1980s original Vision Street Wear hi-tops for 15 bucks grrrr 3. The store has a super hip yet organized feel to it, well laid out and easy to find stuff. It has huge windows and feels super clean light and airy. Not at all cramped or stuffy even though it was pretty busy thr whole time I was there. Highly recommend the Albuquerque Buffalo Exchange- new fave!

I agree with the latest reviews. Having traveled across the country, I have bought and sold at several locations. This is by far the worst. The shelves are lined with old, stained, ripped clothing yet they pass up good clean unworn clothing. To test I brought in a versace shirt, Armani polo-never worn, and new Jean's, among several sweaters and old tees. They purchased 3 old tee shirts and pair shorts with a hole! They are too young and too busy having personal conversations to purchase. Further, look at how they dress. They look like a mishmash from the salvation army discount rack. How can anyone so out of touch with common styles purchase for a clothing store. The store itself is very dirty, dank, and goodwill looking. Actually, a goodwill is probably cleaner and better put together certainly won't be back.

This is a nice resale shop. I was there on a Sunday and the selling line was long. There's a good quantity of clothing here, even for men. It looks like the stock turns over pretty quickly, so you might want to keep coming back for more bargains!

manager rocco unfold and folds your for sale stuff never looks.. but looks at you first and decides or not to buy.. umm refusal to serve based on age race etc violates civil rights law..1965 duuh so no supervision of the staff another time i was refused buying anything a goth looking woman half my age again refused cause i was older ungoth? this is creepy and weird and i feel disrespected.. they advertise they buy but this is fraud they buy almost nothing.so many complains should be directed to authorities

Pretty low end stuff. Don't bother taking designer stuff there to sell. More like the Gap, Logo T-shirts that say" Brooklyn".

Amanda Yuan

I used to stop by Buffalo Exchange all the time when I was in college because I lived on E 11th Street and it was on my way to class. They have a pretty good selection of clothing aimed at younger fashion.

Kyle Donley

I always find something nice in new condition for a fraction of the price. Three mens business casual dress shirts and pair of shoes for under $100. When it comes to shopping that's living the dream right there.

Chef Eddie Cantú

Ripoff took a new 160 dollar cowboy hat tried to give me 9 dollars for it. It was still in the box with a receipt. Terrible place

Kiersten Gourlay

Went to sell my spring clothes including several "flower print" items they are promoting on their board, but I ended up with a rude punk-rock employee who took only a few items. She offered me $4 for a $400 brand name dress. Watched her buy off-season (punk) clothing including suede boots, skull knitted sweaters, etc. from her FRIEND who came in before me. Unacceptable. Then went to browse the store and they had NOTHING in style. If you want some gothic style clothing or some funky out-of-style finds definitely come here to shop, but I would take your in-style clothing elsewhere to sell.

Victoria Natenzon

Don't drop your clothes off here. Just don't...

Worst their buyer takes in repeated options that you can find at stores no different than the tj Max or Ross. Would not waste your time there

Jamie C.

Sold clothes to the store and was told to just tell the cashier when i want to use the store credit. Came back a few weeks later and they tell me that my information has been completely erased from the system and that i should have taken the money instead. I was never told or given a card and now it seems as it's my fault that I didn't take cash instead of store credit. Really feeling dumbfounded as my money and clothes are straight up gone lol. And there's no way to prove otherwise so i'm just stuck here feeling cheated.

I love thrifting but I didn't really have a good experience here. The employees are nice and the store is well organized, but everything is so expensive. This isn't a store for people who want to save money and find quality items for cheap. It's an "in" store for upperclass people/hipsters. If you want to find a great and cheap place to thrift try the stores in the less gentrified parts of D.C, stores that donate their procedes to charities, or Good Will.

Pilar Batista

Affordable and good quality equals a great thrift store. But think twice before trying to exchange things, your just gonna waste your time b/c they hardly take anything and give the excuse that they have it already. Maybe just this location. There are others throughout the city!

Pawel Smistek

Everything is used. I thought it was figurative speech but no. Everything actually is used and touched by people who then passed it onto the commoners.

Megan Horan

Small, crowded, but lots of great items and helpful staff.

Today, October 3, 2019 was my first time at the Buffalo Exchange and I went there to exchange and not to shop. I was very suprised that my business suits and dresses would not be accepted along with mixed jackets, slacks and jean shorts. i was very upset since my sister came from Ellicott City, MD and picked me up from Hyattsville, MD to exchange my clothing especially since we called ahead of time. Then again I thought since most of the articles were "labels" I would be able to exchange them here. But no! I had a bunch on hangers and some in a garbage bag that my sister had brought from her house. The first associate checked a few pieces in then left the counter and went to the back for something and never came back. Then the other young associate standing with her, named Anelle took over to help me. She put everything neatly back on hangers, which had been taken off the hangers, which was a mess without complaining (this was a big job). I would like to commend this young lady Anelle for her great customer service skills, patience, knowlege and all around humanity because I am a senior citizen and handicapped. She did a wonderful job today. She did this with a smile. Although I did not make a purchase from the store she was very patientand very willing to help me. Please thank her again for me for doing a great job. Kudos! Gail P. Miles

The store is definitely not cheap enough to be called a thrift store. They sell stuff you can buy at TJMaxx or Ross for more than those places sell it for brand new, I've even seen something priced at $18 at Buffalo Exchange and it still had the price tag from Ross on it that said $8. Apart from their ridiculous prices, don't bother bringing clothes in to try and sell them unless you wear the same cheap-looking "oh my gawd, I am so different from everyone else" hipster clothing that all of their staff wear because they won't buy it from you. And if you're plus-size, definitely don't waste your time shopping or selling there because I guarantee you won't have any luck. Don't waste time and money at this hipster hell-hole, just go to Savers or Thrift Town where they have 5x the selection, way lower prices and competent staff.

I always come here and they always take clean and fashionable item and pieces and I get good amount of store credit ! I love it here the staff is so cool and friendly and they have cute clothes just have to look carefully ! Other buffalo exchange don’t take much items but here they do just make sure it’s neat and clean and not dirty or stained

Pllllasstic! Mostly overpriced trash. Some staff are discourteous, and buyers should be trained to buy current fashion. Also, should include more focus on natural fiber clothing.

jleung12292

Other negative reviewer's were right. Name brand clothing they will undersell u so much. Any clothing with flower prints or a nice famcy design they wont take it in. Including the clothes i have had tags on they still wouldnt take it in. Wish i read the reviews first before coming here. Take your clothes elsewjere to sell.

I like Buffalo Exchange. Its hit or miss, mostly miss but when its good like a Milly dress for $30 dollars you can find great deals. The people are nice and friendly. Its definitely worth a trip every now and then. Definitely my favorite in the area.

Good experience. If u have clothes they dont accept n u want to donate. There's a donation box on 12th st.

Not worth the effort, they gave 5 dollars for brand new 70 dollar jeans, saying they could sell them for 18 dollars then i found them with a 50 dollar price tag, so dont believe everything you read about this place.they lied to rip me off.

The people are great and they have a wide variety of clothing. I will definitely return to sell item's and shop. You guy's rock.

Good thrift shop but not a big collection of men clothing mostly women clothing. The staffs are super friendly and nice. They buy your clothing 50% for trade in value and 30% for cash value to what they would sell the clothes for. Overall this place is ok.

Joan Marentes

The prices are too high for used clothes, especially the used shoes and boots. You can buy cheaper name brand shoes on sale at Macy's and Dillards. Also, the employees are hijacking all the good stuff and wearing it with pride GET REAL BUFFALO EXCHANGE.

Overtime, going into Buffalo has become my final option for finding/selling clothes. At one point, the staff were very knowledgeable on brands and the value of the pieces they purchased from customers, then the staff became totally swapped out for college kids don't really know as much as they think they do...The staff on any given day can be very anti-social which is a red flag off the bat. Selling clothes there is one of the most painful experiences as well. They will on average price denim at $15. You get 30% of that in cash & 50% in store credit...You do the math. You're better off selling one of your items on eBay for that. I think Buffalo should really work on the pricing system for some of their items. You guys have very cool pieces sometimes but you should research them and interact with your customers no matter how hectic your day may be going.

Paulette Paglia

Pricier than Savers but you get more current and stylish clothing for much less than department stores. Nice salespersons, and I always go there to look for the more expensive things like leather and wool winter stuff. I went there to exchange my clothes thinking that they would accept all the clothes, but unfortunately they took only one of my clothes. If you are not like a fashionista, I reccomend not taking any clothes because they wont accept it. Instead you should just go the the salvation army. Its better. The clothes are pretty expensive, well for me.

NikLeni

Recently I visited the Allston Buffalo Exchange store and it was the BIGGEST waste of time. The clothing was awful and the girl behind the counter had zero clue about what was in style. I mean they were selling used plaid pajama bottoms but all of the items I brought were vetoed by some chick wearing a weird oversized men’s factory suit. Overall, it was a pretty junkie store. Don’t recommend at all.

Edwin Arbito

Good prices and cool selection You may to have come back!

Great store! Fast cash

Yezenia Jesie Patillo

To sell... not a first choice. To buy, YES! Lots to choose from. I went in with the thought of letting go, so I told myself no matter what, let go! BUT... as one who does consignment, ASOS marketplace, and ThredUp, I definitely got way less than I would have if I had taken any other route. The stuff in store was cool, though. I guess the bonus is what the don't accept, they donate. So that was my mantra as I left, leaving quite a few unaccepted items with tags from winter 2016 season, and it's just the start of February. If only I had decided within the return timeframe. I better not see unaccepted stuff on the racks!

Samantha Gustafson

Great staff, great clothes and great prices!

Phenix Hall

It's a win win at this store. You can sell stuff or buy stuff. Both are great benefits. The clothing is DC conservative let's pretend it's funky because it's not banana republic but the truth is if you aren't a follower of styles this may not be your place to shop.

Jasmin Perez

This is a very small hard store to move around staff could be friendlier. If your not anxious this is a good place to find some really good and cool items, the prices are fairly decent.

Aylin Sheehan

A little more of the pricey side of thrifting but you really don't have to sort through anything gross or trashy. Love! The people who work there are cool & they don't use ANY bags!! ❤♻️

Elizabeth Pina

Brought in clothing that was brand new or barely worn as well as shoes. The clerk quickly sorted through my things and reminded me they only accept what's good for fall fashion (which most of the garments were and I was mindful of). I was fine with them not being selected (which I was prepared for) it was the snooty and condescending tone of the girl in a shapeless button down that I didn't see fit for the transaction. She also added an unnecessary comment that they only accept clothing from the past 15 years (they were purchased a year ago!). About half of the things I brought in had great potential to be bought by locals. Right after I just took my things to the Goodwill down commonwealth. Save yourself the time and avoid this excuse for consignment shop.

savanna marie fernandez

Horrible store and staff Multiple of my friends went to go shopping there recently horrible customer service

Very bad service. When you go to check out and they see a low price the answer is : sorry we can't sell for this price "is our policy" . I was wainting on line for 15 min and in the end I got that answer. Left the store very disappointed!!

Sandra Jones

Miss Mst. Store...

Paul Cianciolo

The sell-by-mail option seems like a scam. I sent in hundreds of dollars worth of clothes, some of which was nearly new. All I got was $5, and there is no way to tell if they are really "donating" the other items or actually re-selling.

Gabriel Steven Healy

Lots to check out. Very good selection.

Heather McGuire

Reduce, reuse, recycle! I get just about all my clothes here. Top quality though, they are very picky.

Chrysse Haynes

I’m truly baffled by this location after having sold and purchased clothing from locations in NYC, Chicago and Atlanta. Their selection is horrible and resembles a Salvation Army more than a trendy vintage store. I brought in a bag of designer clothes today and they took nothing - three of my dresses had never been worn - and forgo the comment Savy that you only purchase what is currently trending because the three boho Free People dresses are extremely in right now. A maxi Madewell striped dress in excellent condition along with 2 pairs of vintage 501 Levi’s in great shape and a dozen high end blouses were all passed up. I’ve come to assume the staff have absolutely no training or clue what labels and fashions are actually worth investing in. I found another vintage store online who purchased them from me for $$$. It will be no loss to the city when you close your doors. Customers would be better off shopping at h&m or tjmax. Jessica your response is about as helpful as Savy’s usually are - not at all. Levi’s 501 are always in style and you had NONE in stock when I was there. Excuses, excuses, excuses. I will never be doing business with you again. Anywhere.

Waste of time if you have clothes to sell.. Even if the condition of your clothing is excellent with hardly any ware. They only want to give you pennies on the dollar is your clothing articles are a few months old. Hmmmm?

Took train alll the way from east boston with a big suitcase full of clothes. Leather lambskin jackets never worn with tags still attached, guess jackets never worn, 200 dollar poisin jeans..Did not take ANYTHING accept a pair of cheap sunglasses i paid 5 dollars for yet they refused all the EXPENSIVE name brand stuff with tags all still on them..NEVER AGAIN DO NOT GO TO THIS STORE YOU WILL WAISTE YOUR TIME!!! They have weird style cause my stuff was 1000 times better than anything that store had that looked old and raggity.

Great selection. Items are constantly cycling through.

Naysa Ahuja

They have nice trendy collection for buyers, but selling is an absolute disappointment here. First, stand in the longest queue for too long and then see young girls rejecting your quality stuff without even unfolding it. They apparently do not understand and buy higher-end, branded office wear. Tried twice and literally had to ask what's wrong with my clothes and shoes. Interestingly, I was told it was not the style they carry for a trouser and pair of sandals I bought from them. What snobs! I have made the mistake of leaving my office clothes as donation at BE earlier. Do not listen to their feedback and trash your good clothes. There is Martha's outfitter (good cause) and crossroads to get better selling experience.

Marie Gillentine

Always find a steal here. Beautiful clothes and shoes for a fraction of the cost! Always recommend for second hand clothes, I say second hand loosely I normally find clothes with the tags still on from the original shop.

Kelly Johnson

Don’t

Marcus Duran

This place is a heap. There very judgmental, expensive, and it seems like they profile the people there buying the clothes from instead of profiling the clothes i had clothes brand new name brand clothes with tags. They were not even looking at the clothes just folding them all fast as they were looking and talking to eachother. I recommend platos closet 10 fold to this hear heap rude ass peeps all the way around. I rather give it it no stars.

MARYJANE WILLIAMS

BUFFALO EXCHANGE 1) SELLING CLOTHING They will sell it... For double the store credit. Or 4 times the amount of cash you receive... If they happen to buy it. And usually they want day old juicy couture or louis vutton for $10 store credit or $5 cash. 2) BUYING CLOTHING They're prices are competitive. It's not much of a thrift shop... They will sell you an item... For double the actual retail price. 3) CONCLUSION If you're going to Thrift... Find another consignment shop with a greater variety at greater prices. If you're going to sell... Go online... letgo app, Craig's list, eBay... Or another consignment shop... Because the chances that you'll get a good deal are slim to none.

Hated the experience there. Staffs are condescending and I highly suspect that one guy working there is racist. Some of the clothes they took are in worse conditions compared with what I brought but they refused all of mine at a quick glance. It was completely a waste of my time to even bother going there.

I don't shop here, but I do sell a lot of cloths to them. It's a good store for what it does. They'll give you straight up cash or store credit for your items. Of course it won't be nearly the same price as what you paid, and of course they won't want everything, but it's always worth a visit before just throwing your stuff on the Goodwill bin. Unlike true consignment places like Second Time Around, you will recieve cash immediately regardless of whether they sell your item or not. Finding oarking nearby can be very tricky though.

The staff is too picky about clothes they accept to buy from you. Some clothes in there I don't know if anyone would buy.

They're some TRASH. I took like 80 items up to their D.C. Location (14th street) and the lady who helped me basically gave me everything back, offering lame excuses, and moved extremely slow. ALSO, 2 employees came up to her twice and she had to stop helping me to help them

This place is never empty. I've found really good finds here but you have to mosh through people and overstuffed racks. Service is friendly. The fitting rooms are clean but some of the curtains are a little too small to cover the doorways.

Heleen Raes

Went here for the first time and loved it! The store is quite small and crowded but it’s surprisingly easy to navigate. They have all kinds of clothes, from daily wear to statement pieces and most of it is under $25. The fitting rooms are clean and most of the staff is friendly. The checkout for buying things goes really fast, selling things seems to take a while longer. I would also recommend taking a bag with you because they don’t have free bags.

Stephen Godanis

Good place to buy but not to sell

Angel R

I was so intimidated to go in because of some of the bad SELLING REVIEWS for this specific location but it was not bad AT ALL. There was a line to sell but they move pretty quick. Don't come with stuff "you would not wear yourself, I came with things I still liked but was ready to get rid of because I need any little space I can get in my crammed closet space and it was so worth it. The staff here is a little more down to earth and relatable than the other nyc locations maybe it's just the location.... but I felt really comfortable talking to the buyer and that's a big deal for an introvert. lol Good luck selling!

Terrible atmosphere! It's group of girls working there and if you don't look "right", you WILL be ignored. There are plenty of places who at least act like they want the business, Buffalo Exchange is not one of them.

Kelly Phonemany

my boyfriend and I went here in hopes to sell a good amount of clothes that we brought in. the buyer didn't even take her time going through the clothes we had, she literally picked up the shirts and folded it without looking she was way more interested in what the mannequins had on. will more than likely not go here to sell my clothes again. went to crossroads right after and my experience there was well worth it. save your time, go to crossroads.

Excellent consignment store. Great selection of mens clothing.

I've never had a bad experience at Buffalo. I've been to to one in Philly and this one by Union many times and have always enjoyed myself. The staff is extremely friendly. Whoever does the hiring, I applaud you! I usually come in with things to sell and they'll usually buy back one or two items, which is fine with me. Some people get so offended when Buffalo doesn't want to buy their stuff, it's not that serious lol!

Angel Douglas

Love this place. Trading and buying clothes is so fun.

Khari Mcfadden

I started going in 2016 and it has been downhill ever since. They closed the Georgetown location and this one mine as well be a goodwill. I used to go once a week and was able to find quality products. I don't think it is one person still on staff that knows what to buy or sell. $35 for a shirt, I mine as well get a shirt brand new out the store. I don't even waste my time trying to sell. I used to be able to find prps, moncler, and other designers but now $35 for a walmart shirt. I don't think they have any clue what to buy anymore. Dont waste your time. Oh and mens section is down to 2 racks and wall of shoes I wouldnt give a homeless person.

BlindDude

Higher end thrift store. Very good selection of just about everything. I don't do thrift stores very well but this place didn't seem thrifty to me. Lol

Vincent Cropper

Excellent selection at an amazing price

Jude Sloan

Rude, unatentive, over priced and to top it off homophobic

Hillary Shah

Very very disappointed. Bought what I thought was a cute white button down shirt I could wear to work. It was still warm out, so I saved the shirt for a couple weeks when it was colder outside. Wore it for the first time and noticed a stain (looks like it was coffee) that covered half the bottom of the top! Couldn't notice until you're under bright fluorescent light, but needless to say I was very embarrassed walking into work! Won't shop here anymore if the employees can't brother to check their clothes for good quality!

Chantal DuBois

I've been going to Buffalo Exchange for years and I must say it has went down hill! The prices are now too high for a used clothing store!. Used items price at regular retail price, why would someone want to buy a used item when they can go get brand new for the same price!?! Plus the employees (not all) lack customer service and alway seem in a rush! I went recently to try and sell some items, there was many people in front of me with really nice things (in season, great condition) and the girls going threw it hardly glanced at the items and were in a hurry. When it came to my items they were able to take 2 things (which I had purchased there 2 years ago)! Its just unfortunate that this place has changed. I will not be returning there to buy nor sell.

Alaphia Sandy

Always find wonderful international items for around $20 - $30 that I know would be three times as expensive if purchased new.

Maximus Corvus

New adidas shoes and new flannel shirt so awesome! Right price!

Sarah VanB

Trendy urban clothes. Overpriced.

Jake Levi

Expensive compared to other thrift stores

Anna Herrera

Ok

Roman Fellini

I tried to sell clothes there on three different occasions and all three times not one item was bought. They advertise that they buy trendy and " used" clothing, but that just isn't the case. The woman who "appraise" the clothing don't know what they are doing. I was told they where looking for last year's men's fashions. So I went out and bought some items and brought them in, price tags attached, they did not buy one item. What is going on with this second hand store? I will never buy or sell there and I will make it a point to tell others.

Harold Mason

Terrible place to shop

Laurie Hermosillo

Over priced staff not friendly at all

Charles Marc

Different assortment of used but good clothes and shoes...if you looking for something trendy+ limited budget then this is your place

Amanda Morgan Davis

Let me first say that if you don't want your clothes, what makes you think Buffalo wants to buy them? Most people have bad style in my opinion anyways. I sell clothes every few months and I've always had a good experience. But I sell them quality, stylish clothing. There's always a few pieces they don't take so I either donate those or wait till next visit to try again. You have to sell what's in style and consider the season. The staff is friendly and helpful, so I don't understand the bad reviews.

Eduardo Duran

Great prices on slightly used clean expensive clothing

Qingyi Yu

I would suggest bringing things under $100 there to consign only. Most of my stuff get a $30 ish tag price, which means I would get $10 in cash, including things that’s under $100 to things at $700. The buyer isn’t professional, and I can tell she is not familiar with many brands... so the price calculating system is not smart, and I feel like the most important factors for it is only the category, the material, condition (cleanliness). I got my $700 Coat back of course. Can you imagine selling it for $30 at such great condition???? But left several coats for $200-$300 there.... I guess friends you should check them out. Lol

Clara ONeal

Great atmosphere!76

Gleb Vakhrushev

Worst exchange/vintage/2nd hand place ever. Attitude is unacceptable. I will never come back and will keep my friends away from this ***** shop.

Alex.

I originally heard about this store in Austin, and that store was wonderful along with the selection and pricing. Although, when I went into this store, I did the trade for in store credit.. Most of my clothing is nice, in style although they look for vintage, vans, forever 21 and clothing like that. Their clothing is definitely pricey for most of the items in the store, you have to look super hard just to find a decent price. Most of the things I look for are the 50% deals but even then, you have to search. The customer service is nice, haven't dealt with a rude employee yet.

I took in expensive men shirts and nice slacks. They didn't offer anything, but I saw a bright pink shirt with a rabbit it on it for 12 dollars. I guess I don't know style, but the lady choosing turned away nice stuff so confused. Not mad just wont be going there anymore.

They have a large variety of cloths, coats etc.,at a reasonable price. It's 100% better than Broadway.

don't think is that cheap according to its quality.and as an Asian I noticed the staff there probably are quite.....I didn't get greeting while white people get sincere welcome when they come in.

Ben Harel

Good clothes for cheap prices. I found many really good button up shirts for single digit prices. Jeans, not so much, but then again it depends on the day!

Aleja Noel Allen

My mom and I went in with 5 bags of practically bran new all Forever 21 clothes hoping at the very least we would each get like $20. I was looking around the store and not only were there clothes that looked like they had been pulled right out of the '70s but and then proceeded to be put through a meat grinder; 95% of things I picked up had holes all through it. That or they had come out of a cat hoarder’s house; cat hair all down the entire inside of a floor length coat. The clothes on display were some the worst I’ve ever seen at a thrift shop, and we were told that what they were looking for in trade in cloths were current trends within the last year. I missed the issue of Vogue last year where Christmas tree green lame flower sacks were in style. Rude employees, hypocrites as all of our cloths *were* from last year, and cheap. Will never step foot in there again or give them a dime.

I love that it opens to either side of the street, that alone gives it such a fun feel. Wish I knew what it used to be before it became a Buffalo Exchange. Solid selection in the large space, it's hard to not find SOMETHING. I do think it's silly to have catalogues for a store that can't guarantee what it has in stock, however this is a minor quibble. One of Buffalo's more solid exchanges!

I found buffalo exchange in a google search, as I had cleaned out my closet and had clothes still with tags or hardly ever worn to part with. I normally just donate, but decided to sell since the items were in EXCELLENT condition and not cheaply made. Well, I was disappointed that they pick & choose what type of items they want for their thrift store, which is their right, but they are only serving a small portion of the community with the items they prefer. They prefer artsy, millennial, hippie chic type articles, from what I saw. I had 2 pencil skirts with tags, hardly or never worn slacks from Express, Calvin Klein and the Gap, jeans from Seven, DKNY and they said they’re not reselling those items because their type of customers wouldn’t buy them and it’ll be hard to sell. The staff were very nice & friendly, but I would not return to sell or buy.

Iris

Good place to buy but not a great place to sell. Some items are sold for way more than they should be, for the brand and type of clothing. Underwhelming men’s section.

Jason Byrd

Great place shop. Selling back isn’t really worth it unless you have to. Some of the girls there can be snubby. :/

I would like to start out by saying I have been a Buffalo Exchange customer for 15 years. I have always loved the whole dymanic of the business and how they always strive to have an eclectic, yet current selection of clothing and accessories at affordable prices. I also love and appreciate the unique staff, all with different styles and personalities. I am usually always greeted with sweet, enthusiastic buyers who make me feel welcomed and appreciated as a customer. But today, and the past few times I have been in to sell, the assistant manager, Iris, was very rude to me. She scoffed at my artwork while calling it poorly made and unwearable and advised the buyer to stop buying the items and then abruptly walked away. It was incredibly unprofessional, and as a long time seller and customer, it really offended me. I am aware that Buffalo Exchange has constant revolving inventory and cannot always buy handmade items and that some styles do not sell well for them or are too fragile to be handled on the sales floor, or for whatever other reasons. That is all fine and 100% understandable, but this can all be said in a tactful, professional manner. My issue is not that they didn't buy my items, but rather how Iris told me they weren't going to. The key to good customer service is to be kind and understanding, not snobby. The girl who was my buyer was so sweet and tactful when passing on items, so it's unfortunate that Iris decided to stop by and make rude comments then walk away. Honestly, she could learn a lesson of customer service from her staff. I have always been treated so kindly by Buffalo Exchange and always felt appreciated as a local artist and am so disappointed to say that I dread going into the store when she is there just because of her offputting energy. I will stick to buying and selling my clothing and jewelry, handmade or not, on the internet for now.

Chaitanya Chowgule

Upscale, trendy thrift store. Green business that does not use plastic bags, so bring your own.

Cree Nicole Myers

Adore this place. It's a pricier, well curated second hand thrift store. It's also a chain, with a few locations throughout the country. You can sell clothes here, but know that they don't take a lot.

Ginger House

Enjoyed the variety and prices

Esteban Rodriguez

Don’t bother trying to sell your old stuff here. They only buy new and like new high quality items. I once saw a woman walk out with a check for $128 but she had such beautiful and expensive things to sell. Some with the original price tags in them. They will be gracious to most everybody, even if they buy very little or nothing at all. My guess is that they sell some of the nicest items on eBay or to other stores. The staff are great and super friendly. One worker got upon a ladder to take a yellow top of a mannequin that I purchased for an aquaintance. It only cost $6.50. Once I bought a coach wallet there in the original box and paper for only $25. This is the perfect kind of store for Allston. It is fun, funky, with a great vibe. I hope that it remains there for decades to come.

Morgan Mitkowski

Not true vintage clothing. Just recycled forever 21 garment and other stores like that. And honestly I think it’s more expensive then new clothes . I found one pair of shoes that’s it.

I like BE. They have fun clothes but they are a bit more expensive than your average thrift. The store is laid out well and has a nicer feel than most thrift stores. The staff was very friendly as well. As for selling clothes they are super picky what they will accept. I took two bags of clothes and they only took a few things (and none of the higher end stuff I brought). You will probably get a few bucks but don’t expect too much.

There are good picks here you just have to look and stop by frequently. Perfect for the 16-30something crowd.

Don't bother consigning here. If the sales clerk is busy, she won't even look at what you've brought in. Cleaning my closet, I filled a plastic bin with purchases from the last two years- tons of Free People, Johnny Was, and other bohemian pieces. The overwhelmed clerk ( there were three people waiting to consign behind me) dismissed my bin without even looking at it. Made me feel stupid for even bringing it in. I went to Second Time Around, where they took more than half of the clothing, and all the shoes and sandles.

Dana Jost

Wide selection. Average things. Xl was largest size. Slightly high on prices.

Matthew Smith

Nothing is ever good enough for them 2 want to buy

Joel Maliskas

Great stuff at reasonable prices. Super cool staff.

Adrian Silva

If you have trendy clothes and are size small or medium this is a great place to sell your clothes for a couple of dollars. The staff is friendly but they’re definitely cooler than you so don’t be mad when they aren’t impressed with your vintage tee shirt from 1969. Seller beware. Buyers maybe try going to an actual mom and pop thrift shop. Find gems, not perfectly curated selections of current “vintage” trends.

Andre Ruiz

Pretty nice for a thrift shop. The staff is sweet and kind. Unfortunately, I couldn't find my size in mom jeans. Other than that, the close are extremely cheap and affordable.

Reality 3.5 Buying - I've been coming to this BE for almost a decade. A lot of my favourite pieces are from here, but so are a lot of things I've bought and regretted. (More of a reflection on me tbh.) Let's start with the good. It's relatively organized. Occasionally the racks are overstuffed, and shifty through everything is impossible. But maybe there isn't a lot of storage in the store. The place is small -- so if you're serious about shopping come prepared. Bring a small bag, light clothing, and hands that are readily movable. It's best to come on a weekday, Thursdays and Wednesdays have been the best for me. The middle of the day 3pm is fine almost every day. Keep in mind they don't give bags, so you can buy one or cram your purchases into your own bag. The people who work here are nice but aside from the freshies. Occasionally they get NYU freshman to work here and god they are always obnoxious and unhelpful. I get they're new employees but maybe the hiring process needs to be a bit better. The place, like I said is small but not crowded. The front of the store is male oriented, the back is female. The switch up the section occasionally. Currently the back left wall is shoes. They have a large selection of sizez 7 -8. If you're a size ten, they usually have like 4 shoes for us. It's really annoying. The plight of big feet women. The max items in the dressing room is ten, the rooms are clean and well lit. Selling - More of a hassle. Depending on the seller. If you're expecting top notch prices. Do not come here. Or come here when you see someone that's older than 19. My suggestion set a day where you do nothing but travel around and sell your stuff. Here's why, Selling is based on person and trends. Mostly person. There have been times where I have been rejected, come in the next day and they took the very same item. There have been days where I was rejected, went to the one in BK and was accepted. It's really a complete toss up. The NYU freshman employees are the worst buyers. Wait until you see an adult buyuer to get the best bang for your buck. All in all, Buffalo Exchange isn't a place I would TRAVEL TO per se, it's more "I'm got time to kill before drinks. Let me see what they have today." Walk in with zero expectations. Leave with maybe a quiet pleated skirt.

I used to go to Buffalo all of the time back in the day and the quality has surely gone down in the past few years. Back in 2007-2010 when I used to visit Albuquerque I couldn't wait to get great deals at Buffalo and find rare and interesting clothing. Now that I have lived here for a few years I must say it is not the same anymore. I think the change has to do with new management and/or new employees. New generation of lame people? Idk haha Long story short...they’re overpriced/will rip you off, won’t even buy new or nice clothes (like from UO), and are fake (trying to distract me w/small talk while not looking at any of my clothes and tossing them aside). One time I brought in over $300 of clothes and all they took was a tie. I guess ugly clothes are in style? The men’s department is ever-dwindling. Maybe they should accept more clothing instead of basing it off if they’re so called fashion expertise lol.

The Best

You can buy sell and trade apparel shoes and fashion accessories. Its great that they have different styles of fashion that is normally not sold in the DC area, but there items are to over priced to be used items. Basic they have a large quantity of fashion apparel, but low quality of items. I only go here to look for something unusual or when i want a deep discount on certain items.

T E

This is a bit biased because I used to be one of their buyers in 2016. The manager buys in at prices THEY can afford. And selling has gotten way worse over the past 2 years since they closed the Georgetown location. They hired an all new staff AGAIN 2nd time they swapped staff, and didn't keep anyone who know what they were doing. If MELANIA is still store manager there then be prepared to waste your time. the store will probably be out of business soon due to lack of quality, terrible pricing, and inability to sell down their racks. They cant really buy because they haven't sold anything. I feel really bad for the new employees because they wont be there long at all. That's really sad. AND just to be clear I still try to give them good business and overtime I've seen a terrible difference. I used to come in and sell even after I stopped working there, now I think you're better off at Crossroads.

Great place and lots of offerings-various quality. Left with an affordable summer shirt last Friday and some of the minor stains came out in the wash, so happy. Not impressed with the customer service specifically with the sales clerk next to the shoes/dressing rooms. Went in on Friday and found clothes to try on, after walking 30 minutes across town with a heavy backpack, camera bag, and smaller bag after work. I was exhausted, but wanted to stop to find something I could wear in hot weather because I just moved and don't have summer clothes. She wanted me show her all 6 pieces and I was obviously struggling and didn't offer to help. I even dropped one on the ground and she didn't even try to pick it up for me. I even thanked her after trying on clothes and she didn't say anything. Monday after the weekend, I went in to try and buy shoes that I liked from Friday but couldn't see them immediately. I asked if I could use the step stool to see the back, because I'm too short to see the shoes. She said no. But she could look for me with no intention to help me find what I was looking for. I didn't even want to explain my situation. I said "ok" and walked out. I came on my lunch break to come to this store. I was nice when she wasn't (pretty sure that should be reversed). I thought it was just because of a busy Friday, but it was 12pm today and it wasn't busy...it just opened at 11am. Would be nice if employees could have at least adequate customer service. (check-out station rocks!)

for a re sell shop everything was super over priced and not worth it.if i wanted a 28$ spotted shirt i could just got to forever 21 and get a brand new one the point is to save money on shopping and this really missed the mark.

I have only bought not sold at this location. However staff was super helpful and friendly and they had some really fun pieces. It is a relatively small store though and got incredibly crowded to where it was difficult to navigate. But they had better inventory then others I have been to.

Went here to sell some clothes... Waited for what seemed like eternity while they were finishing up with somebody and took that time to look around at the inventory. Nothing special and very overpriced. Back in the day when I shopped thrift I actually got cool vintage stuff for cheap, I guess that's a foreign concept in this store. Finally they went through my clothes and basically told me that none of it was hip enough for their store. I even pleaded with them to at least take something since I drove an hour from Washington heights then looked for parking for another half hour. They weren't having it. Screw this place would never go back. If I really need a ratty old t-shirt from the 80s I'll go to the salvation army.

If you are unfortunate to get the dark brown hair girl. I suggest you step out of line and wait for someone else because she's takes her position too seriously like she looks down on people. Some of the things I had were old I admit BUT I snuck in a couple of BRAND NEW pants because they were too small for me and yet she rejected those as well. Everybody else was nice though.

Marco Berry

Fun clothes and wonderful employees. The men's section is a bit thin though.

This Buffalo is totally different than the Denver/Boulder locations I would sell to when I lived in CO. I was amazed they didn't take the American made, name brands I brought in but I saw junk on their racks from Target even a flannel from Wal-Mart. I may shop there from time to time but I'll never sell to them again. Friendly staff though.

My boyfriend and I were preparing for an 80's party and we wanted legit looking clothes; we went to buffalo exchange and the staff were absolutely wonderful. They led Tyler and I through the entire store searching for super cool 80's clothing. Yes, the prices are slightly higher than a thrift, but it's because the clothes are better quality (not bashing thrift stores - I love them). We truly had an awesome experience at buffalo exchange, and would recommend anyone who is looking for unique clothing to stop by.

Jeff Wheeler

I bought a shirt there and then decided to bring it back a couple months later. They said they wouldn't take it because it wasn't "the kind of thing they carry." Same shirt they sold me. Complete BS. Take your business elsewhere.

Silvia Taranto

Terrible experience. A whole bunch of not very good looking people making comments on the clothes I took to sell at the store in Astoria. The excuses this girl gave me for not buying my great looking clothes were ridiculous. I will never go back to that ugly looking dumpster.

Chrystal McDowell

I love Buffalo Exchange. Love love it - just not this one. There is definitely a theme going on at the Albuquerque BE. As a sought-after buyer for several curated trend boutiques and vintage shops across the country, I have a very solid idea of style, hot items, vintage trends, and the basic timeless staples that always sell. I was aware of the fact that Albuquerque plays a little slower than some of the other cities across the country, but it was still jaw dropping to see the "buyers" rummage through some VERY nice stuff with zero interest or regard. They managed to go through my 300 pieces in about 5 minutes, overlooking/passing on: several vintage rompers, a MK purse, a Brahmin purse, a vintage Chloe belt, some handmade native silver jewelry, a new pair of black suede Matisse cowgirl boots, several other cognac leather ankle cowgirl boots, two concho belts, 6 pairs of vintage label Levis, 4 pairs of true deadstock 70s Wranglers, a button up overall dress, a Free People black lace kimono... should I go on? This was a curated collection of desirable pieces that I didn't want the hassle of taking with me on a cross-country relocation. I'll be giving Platos Closet the opportunity to make some $ and will just list the rest. OHHHHH, but they did take an old Walmart brand polkadot blouse (and will be selling it for more than the original NEW price), and a simple woven basket bag. Wow. Way to get out of your comfort zone. This Buffalo Exchange is a clique - look at who is working and it isnt difficult to determine what they will buy. T shirts. Crocs. Off brand Converse lookalikes. Bullhead skinny jeans. Anything baggy. The seller is told that "we only buy what is popular and on trend, very exclusive looks" - maybe take into consideration that these buyers don't provide variety to the styles that they pull for the store and, in doing so, don't even give their customers the opportunity to purchase different things. I did count 6 different people wearing Nirvana tee shirts. Miss you Kurt. And... the other day I was noticing that Walmart stepped up their game with their new jewelry line - super cute, who knew? Which is why I recognized a lot of the same styles for sale at ABQ BE. The EXACT same styles. For 3 times the price. Go compare, I am dead serious. Walmart $4 or BE $12. You decide. So unimpressed and hands down the worst of this chain I have ever visited. Finally, one has to question why they are so eager to have you "donate" the stuff they didn't take. Meaning put it in a bin behind their buying counter.

Michael Dollar

There is an eclectic array of clothing to choose from in addition to accessories, shoes, etc. Prices are very reasonable, and the staff is quite friendly.

They have poor poor poor customer service and. They don't hire people of quality buying practices. They discriminate based on what you look like whether or not they will but from you as well . Socialism + systematic economic oppression at its finest ... And it smells horrible so I'm sure they accept dirty clothes

Donya Ziraksari

Horrible clothing and very bad taste. Would not recommend it to anyone. Not sure why they are still in business

Buffalo exchange is the best. The staff is always friendly and you will find current fashion items from gently used to new. Shoes, accessories etc. You can sell or trade in your old clothes for store credit.

Always come across some gems here! You can find some designer brands like Oscar de la Renta, J Brand, Moschino, Ralph Lauren alongside more premium labels like J Crew and a generally very well-curated selection of as-new pieces that are fairly priced for their condition in my opinion. I visit regularly when in the area and always end up falling in love with a little something.

Occasionally there's a good find but they're seriously lacking in fashionable plus-sized clothing... anything over a size 10 is as flattering as a moo-moo.

This is my favorite thrift store in DC. They have a great eye for quality/style. The store is smaller, but there's plenty there for both men and women, and I usually leave with something.

There very coool peps, Great!!-

Pricey for a thrift shop. I've picked up a few stand-out items before, but they have always cost me equal value. The quality tends to be higher than the nearby competition, but not enough to justify the price. I haven't tried trading my clothes in; although, I've heard the rates are unfavorable to the seller.

Lowest rating!!!.. Buffalo exchange,..wat a joke!!. These women have no idea what style is!!. They all dress alike n have similar attitudes....Which are all snobby, and hate to say it but are a lil prejudice!.. I took in a variety of different styles of clothing from expensive stores with the tag Still attached which were in season and obviously style,.. because some kind of clothing that were on their own racks!.. But go figure,... weren't good enough for them or their store!.. Employees there be a lil bit more open minded to the options that do come through your door, without having an attitude and or prejudices of who brings them in or not! Things my wife brought in were some of the same things they sold! So a lil advice,.. update y'alls stuff!!. Stop being and acting so petty!!!.. And lower your prices!.. You didn't pay nearly as much for it!!.

Over price most things, friendly staff

This store is dirty and I feel when i touch things that they are dirty too. It’s like a bad garage sale but they think the stuff is actually worth more than it is. The size organization is pretty good (go girl and guy with the hangers!) Crushed, twisted, dirty, smelly, flattened, and usually just plain ugly. If it’s not they have bought it themselves or maybe are holding it back because SOMEONE ELSE might just get a bargain if they put it out too soon-how hypocritical. If it is mint, it might bring some of those prices on the vintage stuff, but it’s not primarily vintage, it’s used! Many items have picks and holes-or one or two wears left (so might as well shop at Target, it’s returnable). Some of the shoes were just filthy. Then why try to get $20 or $30 for them. Don’t take them. Don’t put them amongst your other cleaner wares. Truly! Get BETTER deals on your racks, clear it out (clearance racks) and start over! Open when it’s clean!!!!! How many staff or people can you squeeze into a closet and still not help anyone-keep the three or two people actually working! The staff talk to each other but do not greet or in any way assist the customers-mostly they stare. It just proves people will buy anything and since it isn’t washed, I’m going for #1. Never have I been given ANYTHING approaching the amount of money these used and old items are going for in “exchange” and have seen the items on the rack for 1000% more than I got in this store! At one or two dollars in the door and $65 going out! Find a charity! At both ends it’s a racket and I’d rather give it away to the guy on 2nd from now on, or the places that help homeless, or women or men, who dont charge above retail prices, and who are friendly, even if it might also be questionably clean it is less pretentious - than shop or sell here and donate to the illusion of anyone doing something for other than purely selfish and egocentric purposes.

Speaking only for the men's section, this place has a decent selection of used and "H&M-style"/Allston hipster clothing.

I agree with all other reviews.Don't ever think about sell clothes in this place, they will throw your clothes like throwing things to garbage truck.Unrespectful and worse than Goodwill.First I thought they might just picky and rude, but not only that. Some are untrustful liars.I sold a chanel style blue suit and some jewelry in their store.First the blue hair cashier said 12 for suit, and an other lady exam my rings and earrings, made a deal as 9. Then We made a deal as 21. But at the end,the blue hair cashier suddenly paid me only 12,and said with very mean tone: "Buffalo exchange only paid 33%of the orginal price." Yeah, that's the rule.but I don't think the rule would be a excuse to be dishonest. In this case, money is not a problem. But the trust problem is a problem. As a seller and buyer, I will not go back to this store again.

I use to love Buffalo Exchange, it was always something really fun to do. As a former employee of the Georgetown location , I know how the process work ( i even know how to buy ( and what excatly they should be looking for. I noticed at this buffalo there is always someone new. I was supper friendly with the mangers, before they left, now there is a completely brand new staff. I went in today and there was one buyer, and a huge line, and then one girl training ( maybe not the best when there was a huge line. the girl who was training of course got my stuff and went through it and picked like 5 things, she then didn’t know how to price items so the manger had to do it. Not sure what the point of that was. Everything i was selling came up to $38 in trade. After i has sold numerous shirts jackets and it came up to $38: while i went to crossroads after and got a trade of. $72 with less stuff. I have been to buffalos in new york and portland and there great but it seems this one is always have problems, weather it’s there’s selection on clothing for plus size women or lack of customer service. I would defiantly recommend crossroads , great services and u get ur bucks worth!

My hypothesis followed by a fact part 1: The following happens so often to me I finally got an opportunity to hypothetically test it out yesterday effortlessly. Please tell me if you relate? Cleaned out my closet. Bought item's to sell to my local Buffalo Exchange. The recurring incident that occurs once I reach the selling counter goes this way: Typically its a female Buyer dressed and madeup up almost fashion magazine like. This Buyer had what I call not strawberry blonde hair. After this same Customer Agent inquires with me about is this my first time selling here? I answer yes. She asks for my phone #? I confirm what it is. She then looks at my ID. Next. And this is key. This Customer Agent ask how's your day going? You know, as if she really cares. I respond "fine." Customer Agent precedes to go through my potential re-sale bag but Never picks anything from my clothing / accessory selection. No matter how heavy the weight of my unwanted clothing bag. She does not share insight as to why said peices are not worth purchasing. The no-sale mystery ensues and remains and feels - to me - Personal. Oh yeah, I know statistically no one is guaranteed to bring in clothes guaranteed for resale. But the senario I experienced is recurring. The no buy back clothing part is set in place. And soon as the BE Seller asks me that ? HOW'S your day going? I found this particular experience on the WACK side of the equation. Because as soon as she asked the hows it going inquiry my prediction factor kicked in...meaning this will become a no buy back clothing outcome. If you out there in the reading audience land can relate. Please let me know for I find my follow-up equally puzzling. My follow-up: I tend to come back again with the exact same clothes I want to sell witin the next two weeks. Maybe I add one or two new items. The buyer I work with at the re-sale counter is different and to my surprise makes an offer on one or two items - previously unwanted the first time I tried. I Don't think I'm a lone star. And you? Can you relate??

I have a love-hate relationship with this Buffalo Ex. location. Pros: good diverse selection. prices are reasonable for the most part. Cons: small location--such little floor space to actually move around comfortably. friendliness of staff is a total coin toss. security can make you feel uncomfortable. Ultimately this location does a great job at selling clothes, and that's it. I just don't feel very comfortable when I go in there, and that deters me from doing so a lot of the time.

Nathan Hurwitz

They usually have a very nice selection at this location. It's a small store and can be difficult to find pieces you like but overall they are at good prices.

So many unique items to create an entire wardrobe from. Staff is friendly and customer service is on point

Noelle G

As recommended by a friend, I went to Buffalo Exchange expecting to buy a pretty dress. They did have some nice items, but they were more than if I was to buy new unused clothes! I was shocked. And I'm talking about clothes that are still in stores, not "vintage". Plus, the customer service was horrible. Although they choose better quality used clothing, I rather spend more time at Thrift Town or Goodwill sorting through racks and get a great deal.

Buffalo exchange on E11th was pleasant. Helpful and friendly staff, good music playing, overall a great time there. They give 30% cash of the resale value, and 50% of store credit. I found a great Levi Jean jacket for $24. Most things seem to cost about $20. It's a great deal!

Great place to sell and buy some second hand clothing! Decided to raid out my closet and bring most of clothing here. They bought a good amount of polos and flannel. I was surprised that they did not take any of my nicer clothing. They explained they were looking for specific styles and fits. They really liked flannel judging from the clothing on the racks.
