Leaving town and needed a belt. Found just what I wanted at Kohl's...right price of $30 but it was the wrong size. Looked a little further and found the right size but the price tag was missing and a bar code tag had been re-attached. Took it to check out and the cashier said "$36.00". I said, "that's not right...one just like it with the original price tag said $30." Cashier asked a helper to go back and check....reported that I had looked at a different brand belt. I knew I hadn't and went through with the purchase, after which I said "I'm going to go back and check because I know this isn't right". Got to the belt rack, the helper was there and I found the exact same belt I originally looked at that was the wrong size and the original price tag that said $30, so I took it to the cashier to show her I wasn't "seeing things". She scanned the second belt with the tag that said $30. The scanner said that belt was "priced wrong" and I had been correctly charged $36. Wait a second......the belt I bought which had a tag replaced was correctly priced and the belt that had the original tag was priced wrong? At this point the cashier should have said "Mr. customer, the incorrect price is our fault. You may have the belt for the lower price."....but she didn't....I had to pay the higher price even after I had gone through the entire ordeal of showing I was correct about the price. You know.....it's $6.00...so what? Right? I needed the belt, I liked the belt, store was about to close, no desire to argue the case further so I bought it. When I was in retail the "customer was always right"....I guess times have changed....it's not that way anymore.
