So, I usually don't post "consumer complaint" posts, but I thought that my many theatre friends should know about this. Last week, we were having trouble finding glow face paint. I found some on Chicago Costume's website. The product info said it was good, and I called and the employee said it was good. I drove the 90 minute round trip to pick it up. First of all, I was in the store a good 10 minutes and no employee was to be found. I walked around the store and could find no one. I was almost to just take the paint and leave, since I had been painting for so long in what seemed to be an empty store, but my morals said not to do that. Finally, someone came out. I confirmed with her this was the paint I was looking for. She asked if i wanted to test it, and I said yes. But the only place we could test it was a semi dark room where I could only get about 2 feet away, so this didn't give much of a test. Well, it didn't work at all. So today, I went back to return it (another 90 minute round trip) and was told they don't give refunds but she would check with the manager. I explained I bought the paint because the employee recommended it to me. She went to the manager and came back saying she couldn't give me a refund but would give a store credit. I asked to talk to the manager. So the manager came out and the first thing she said was "I assume you read the receipt." I again told her the website said it was a good product and that the employee recommended it to me and said it would work. All she said was I could get a credit but they don't give refunds. This was for $18. Looks like its Fantasy Costume or some other supplier in the future.

Huge selection in the store appears to be open year-round. They do offer costume rentals and have just about any costume you can imagine. the staff is helpful in assisting you to find what you're looking for and they are very knowledgeable about their inventory. Parking is best accomplished around the corner from the store .

This is by far my favorite costume shop in Chicago! We come here all year round!! They have a huge selection of fishnets in all colors and the staff is super friendly and answer all of my questions if I ever have any!!

A huge range of pre-packaged costumes, and a reasonable range of accessories for make-your-own. We were under enormous time pressure and were able to get in, get costumed in our sizes, and get out again very fast. One quibble: they really should stock basic costume-modification items like safety pins, costume glue, and velcro strips!

I was unaware of this location until very recently. This location is bigger and more convenient than the original location on Fullerton. If you are looking for a costume for Halloween, this store has many options including accessories to make your own costume. Shop here early because the closer it gets to Halloween, the less choices you will have. Huge huge variety of costumes in a warehouse set up. I saw a super fun Lisa Simpson costume that I would totally don if I did Halloween. Cheap looking stuff though but that is to be expected.

Staff was very helpful but the quality of the costumes is hit or miss. Their sign says all sales are final, so I tried on a few at the store. I found a few costumes were missing accessories, were mismatched or looked nothing like what was shown on the cover.
