As a guitar player, when I go into a music store I like to try out some better guitars and maybe some foot-pedals. At this Duke St store the better axes are mounted at 10' or higher so I can't get to them without asking a clerk - which I don't like to do - because then some kid the age of my son asks me what I'm looking for - and how much I plan to spend. I'm not sure what I'm looking for - but have spent at least $15K at GC in past 10 years anyway. Foot-pedals are behind glass - not rigged up on floor for me to try out. Stayed 20 min at Duke then walked without buying.

Worst place ever. All they want is money, they don’t care about helping consumers. I went in there to check what’s causing my guitar to buzz and repair guy told me I have to pay him $60 without telling me what’s wrong w it and tells me “I don’t do free work”. this Repair guy was filled with attitude and purposely turns the truss rod opposite way to cause more buzzing to convince me to pay him $60.. wow can u believe that? So after he ruined my guitar even more I left the store and went to music and arts and they fixed it for me for free! Never shop at this store they just want money and don’t care about their consumers.

Gave this store this review because of the suboptimal customer service. First off, their website claimed they had an item in stock, but as I go in and ask for it, they said they would look in the back. However, this is just the first layer of the cake. I had to wait 20 minutes for a guy to come back and tell me "Sorry, we don't have those in stock." Oh well, I appreciated the effort. This wasnt as bad as the following day though. I go in and try to get help from an employee. I said hello and he looked down at his phone continuously putting up in his ear and back to its place. He seemed very frantic. I stood there for 5 minutes not knowing what to do. Overall, I think the manager himself is the only competent employee. Great store, poor customer service.

Drive an hour to get to the store regularly. After stopping in while ago, I was in Alexandria the meeting a friend for lunch. The staff is very knowledgeable, and never felt pushed into buying something I was not ready for skill wise, or something that was overpriced or not worth its value. The stores manager seems to have a hand selected the best of the best for both price quality and customers needs. Great selection all around, things in stock and clean, the store is also very aesthetically pleasing; from the separated drum section and acoustic room! Nick, and Ward are the two guys I remeber helping me the most. Great stuff! Will keep coming back

They are the way nicer than the crew at the Fairfax store. Took my 10 year old to get him an electric guitar because acoustic is harder to pay. Kevin, a teacher saw my kid holding a used Les Paul and was too cool with him. He hooked us up with Justin who was just as cool to him and set him up with a sweet guitar, amp, strap and hard case for less than $450! Justin also made sure the guitar was checked out and then polished it. Outstanding!

I brought my martin custom X guitar here to have the bridge re glued down, and have a neck adjustment. My first issue was that i was told the total cost was going to be 150$ which included putting elixer strings back on. When i went to pick up the guitar I was charged extra for strings and they didnt put elixers back on. Not too big of a deal to me. When I got home and proceeded to inspect the repair I was immediately shocked by the lack of attention to detail, the bridge was crooked and not flush against the body. I returned the guitar to have this corrected, when I went to pick it up, I inspected it in the store, there was glue all around the bridge and looked even worse than the first time! I spoke with Steven H. Who conducted the repair and he said he would address the issue. Im thinking third time is a charm, wrong! I picked it up 20 minutes ago and it still looks like garbage. At this point my guitar has spent almost 3 weeks at guitar center and I have lost all patience so I brought the guitar home.

Im always disappointed going in here. Marginally informed yet very opinionated staff continually try to upsale unneeded or related items. In have an employee approach me every three steps, i cannot decide if they are that bored or if they think I'm caseing the joint. I feel its the latter. I still bought guitar strings, but dread going there.

Great location close to a lot of attractions and other shopping areas. They have a wonderful selection of music equipment bass, electric, and acoustic guitars. I think what a lot of people don’t know is Guitar Center also has a great selections of equipment keyboards, sound, lighting and turntable equipment. The staff here is superb, helpful and provided a lot of great recommendations I didn’t initially considered. I highly recommend this location to anyone passing through this area or are visiting.

Went in expecting to spend over $1500. Needed customer service to retrieve the large and locked items I was ready to purchase. Stood around browsing in that section of the empty store for nearly an hour without help. Went to the counter and asked for help retrieving items to purchase. Got ignored a few minutes there then got an ‘okay man, one minute’ (he was on the phone). Stood around another half hour then just left. Same guy asks if I need help as I walk out. ‘Not anymore’. Bought all the same gear on Amazon in a matter of minutes for $1075 arriving at my door tomorrow.

Im here with my 7 year old. His trying out instruments. This is a pretty cool guitar center. Most of the staff is pretty friendly. With the exception of the bid dude who when we walked into the guitar room, he got up and walked out without a word like he has no customer service skills, whatsoever. Anyway, I have been to a few Guitar centers. They are about the same.
