We recently completed 2 projects with the Duncklee Cooling & Heating team, and could not be more pleased with our experience. First, a full upgrade of our HVAC from what was originally installed in our home long ago, to a new Luxaire system recommended by Jonathan. Prior to its replacement, our original system had been serviced a number of times by Duncklee, and while Glenn always did a terrific job, the system was beyond the point of reasonable repair. His recommendation that we really should consider replacement was what initiated the project. Second, a hot water heater replacement was warranted after the Duncklee team noticed a rusty leak while completing our HVAC install. Kenny and Jason did both installations for us, and they were fantastic. They were neat and organized, efficient, and kept us up to date on their progress - and they made sure that we had at least partially functioning AC during the first really hot day of the year even though the project was still in progress. We are pleased to recommend the Duncklee team to anyone requiring cooling and heating services.

They did not try to add any additional charges to the bill. One thing to note is that I have not yet used the system as it was just hooked up in the fall. After over-charging me and lying about the time spent at my home, not quoting me accurately, I still paid $180 for a furnace cleaning on October 1. I wrote, cited the phone quote, what really happening on the service call, and they ignored me, instead referring me to a collections agency WITHIN 3 WEEKS of the October 1 appointment for what they unfairly claim is the $113 difference. They elected to do this instead of responding to my note or phone call. What a shabby way to treat a reliable customer having had a 23K propane furnace installed and always using them, UNTIL NOW!!! Beware of vindictive business practices!!

VERY expensive! Back in the early September, 2018 timeframe, I contacted Duncklee to come out and repair/replace the second floor zone damper in my forced hot-air heating system. I had to give them my credit card number over the phone before they would even make the appointment! When the technician arrived, I pointed out the location of the second floor supply duct and the damper. I'm not sure why but it took him two hours to remove and confirm that the second floor damper was not working (blades were hanging up). He did not have one in stock so he had to order one. Nine days later he returned and installed the new part. The installation appears to be neat and professional. In addition to the parts and labor charges, Duncklee charges $45 for each visit. Total charge for replacing the zone damper, which is a common part and a common point of failure: $842.93. You be the judge.

Worst customer service ever. I had a rental property where the tenant was complaining the heat was not working. I called dunklee to the rescue. Not only did they miss diagnose the problem they said I needed a new boiler. I had a 2nd opinion which they fixed the problem for $350. Dunklee would not waive the bill for $450 to diagnose the issue (which was wrong). I made several phone calls to the office and even spoke with the owner. VERY RUDE PEOPLE. I agreed to pay $50 for the service call. They reported it to my credit and now it has effected my credit. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE STAY AWAY. P.S. I'VE NEVER WROTE A NEGATIVE REVIEW UNTIL NOW.

We have a recently upgraded gas furnace that wouldn't start. The thermostats upstairs and downstairs called for heat (clicking, and the furnace fan turned on, but would not start) Tech came out and after an hour asked me if it was natural gas (piping should have been a give-away) After an hour as a few hundred dollars, said all was fine. 2 weeks later, same thing. Never again.

I chose five heating and cooling companies to provide estimates on a Mitsubishi Split Ductless heat pump/ cooling system to be installed in my 1900 sq ft home. Duncklee Cooling and Heating was the only one recommended by several renovation contractors. Although the quotes were generally around the same price point, Jonathan Duncklee was the only one with extensive knowledge of the CT Green Bank low interest energy loan program of which I had not heard of. (I ended up getting the low interest loan to finance the project). He was very organized, and was the only contractor to give a written quote on the spot. The other companies took 4 to 10 days to get back to me with quotes. I selected Duncklee’s based on their professionalism, reputation, organization, system design, and value. The multi-day installation process has gone smoothly. The installer, Jim, is warm, friendly and professional. He has worked diligently to install the wall units exactly where I hoped they would be, and to keep me informed of the installation’s progress. Due to a weeklong holiday interruption there is one day remaining before installation will be complete, but I have no reservations highly recommending Duncklee’s as a Mitsubishi heat pump installer.

When I bought my house, the climate control system had been installed previously by Duncklee, so naturally I called upon them for service. Recently the master control panel for the system went out, since it was by now 20 years old. So I had to get a new control system. The technicians from Duncklee installed a new computer, and got it back up and running. They are knowledgeable and polite, and efficient and I would recommend Duncklee.

Lets see where to begin, we have been customers for 10 years and have a service contract. We have had them no show three times in the last two years. The mechanic asked for a fork for his lunch and to heat his lunch, not a huge issue but wanted to be called when it was ready??? My husband took off from work twice for no shows and then when we went to use our cooling system after service it didn't work properly. Then call made and they sent a tech to the house that showed up two hours late ( we were first call of the day). Tech said, we had a faulty valve, he took two hours to find. This valve was going to cost us 2200 dollars to repair. Questioned tech and they said it couldn't have been found in regular service, but it was broken..... Hmmmm who broke valve?? Then we decided why are we paying for a service contract if we aren't getting service, but let things go and my husband looked at the system and found the vents over our bedrooms, where closed off the system. ( lets talk scam now!!!!! ) Opened ducts and wow air conditioning back. Then received 300 dollar bill for service included in our contract. Called repeatedly and left messages about bill and no response in months. This company may have been good years ago, but now I would run far far away, they are scam artists.

Terrible service. Left us without heat for 4 days. Refused to fix a warranted furnace. Sued us. Judge said to pay half we owed him . Sent the check certified mail. He refused to sign for the check. Then put a lien on my house. Now wants more $$. He has his check but won't cash it. Very bad business. I would never recommend using this company. UPDATE Yesterday, we finally got the ridiculous lien taken off our house. All because Jonathan and his office manager, Barbara wouldn't accept a certified letter on May 14 and May 22. Shame on you for silly games. I would stay as far away from this company as possible. Poor communication. Expensive prices. Poor workmanship.

Like other people with an older house, we agonized for years on the hows and whats of putting AC in our home. A friend of mine had recommended Duncklee Cooling and Heating. One visit by Jonathan D., to discuss his company's offerings convinced us to install the Mitsubishi system. The installation went well with very little upset, the installers were competent, courteous and quick. Two near 90 degree days following the installation left us very happy, but wondering why we agonized and waited so long. The system is quiet and responsive with easy to use controls. We have not experienced the heating capability of the system as you might imagine with 90 degree heat, but we are anticipating using the heat for the "shoulders" of the heating season.

We called Duncklee to do annual maintenance on our air conditioning system. When we called, they promptly arrived, checked the air condenser and the air handler. Among other small repair items, they found that the suction line was missing foam insulation. My siblings and I learned from Duncklee that missing foam on a suction line can cause energy loss and condensation. In other words, the lack of insulation on the copper pipe was causing the system to expel cool air outside - instead of inside - the house! Apparently, this is a common occurrence, but without Duncklee's keen eye and expertise, we would have continued to spend extra money on air conditioning the great outdoors! It cost us very little to buy foam insulation in order to insulate the copper pipe. Thank you, Duncklee Cooling & Heating, Inc. You are like family.

Bad attitude here. You might not want to hire them. Ask if they will calculate your heat/cooling load and you will find they can't be bothered. The Granite Group will do this for free, it turns out. Duncklee just wants to sell you a new machine... but without proper design work your system will probably be inefficient- it will cost you money. I offered to pay them whatever they wanted to design my system, but they told me they don't do design work. Huh?? Later I asked if they'd remove my bad air conditioning unit so I could start my renovations- I'd be buying a new unit from them eventually and hire them to install, but they said they wouldn't do that either. I'm a polite guy and I pay well, but they didn't have the patience for me. They lost my business and earned a bad review.

With Jonathans help and guidance we decided on one Mitsubishi condenser with two air handling units. The entire process (quoting, communication, installation, and follow-up) was 100% professional. The installation crew was punctual, clean, efficient and completed the job in one day. They even worked with us to align the air handling units so that the conduits ran through one vertical channel. Called for service to replace fan motor on mini split. I already knew the problem as I had it replaced last year and blinking light on unit indicates so. Repairman arrives. I spend some time giving him the run down. He powered down the compressor (which I already did previously) to see if that was the issue. I showed him the blinking light on the indoor unit. Thinking it was cut and dry and that was all that needed to be done I went off to work so the repairman can finish up. Bottom line is I get a call from my wife saying repairman just left. She had to pay in check on the spot for $366.00 for 2 hours of I have no idea what. All that needed to be done was look at the flashing light... look online... get part number. Took me 10 minutes. $366.00. 8:15 - 10:15. And he told my wife they'd call back for a quote for motor and installation on top of the nothing I got for $366.00... Keep your effing quote. I'll go elsewhere. I should have listened to the Yelp reviews instead. Makes me wonder. Reply to Duncklee's incredibly feeble minded reply... Not the answer I was looking for. Apparently your company has gotten big enough where you can offer up the "little guy" a smart a$$ answer with no repercussions. No matter. I'll entertain you... Let me ask you a question. If there's an obvious issue with your automobile with, let's say, a blown engine. Most people would know that the engine is blown. Do they fix it themselves or do they go to a mechanic??? When pipes burst, do most people fix them or call a plumber??? Which was why I mistakenly sought out you HVAC "professionals" for a hand. I hope this clears up any confusion you obviously pretend to have. Re: me being very knowledgeable on the subject matter. Let's just say the previous contractor (on medical leave) had worked on the exact same issue with the exact same error code (easily found on the internet). It's been an ongoing issue, so please don't blow smoke up my cannon. I explained this issue in the clearest way without using flash cards and left for work after 30 minutes tops thinking the needed part would be ordered and that was that. 2nd biggest mistake (first being finding your phone number) was heading off to work and leaving the "professional" at my place under my wife's supervision thinking this was cut and dry. Nope. 1 1/2 more hours of up and down stairs (nothing down there relating to the mini split) and in the company van to seek answers. Again... 2 hours $366 dollars. Cracker Barrel service. Brain surgeon prices. P.S. Kudos to you guys. You're my first ever negative review. Take that $366 and toast me over a bottle of Cristal.
